Scott Ritter: If Israel again attacks Iran, Iran will destroy Israel.

by Eric Zuesse, The Duran: He explains this in this video on October 11th: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0B_dA7UJJPk Forget about the New York Times, etc.; you will get here nothing but truth. The only thing that Ritter got wrong in this video is that he assumed that what the U.S. Government does is to serve the U.S. people at the expense […]

1 Dead And 9 Injured In Nashville Shooting Near Tennessee State University

One person was killed and nine others were injured Saturday in a shooting in Nashville near Tennessee State University (TSU), which was holding its homecoming celebration, according to local authorities. On X, Metro Nashville PD said all the victims were taken to area hospitals. Five gunshot-wound victims were transported by the Nashville Fire Department and five others were driven by private vehicles. Police also said a 24-year-old man is dead and at least one person who was injured is suspected to have been “involved in the gunfire.” Their identities were not immediately known. Nashville police said evidence showed two groups fired shots from opposite sides of the street at the intersection of Jefferson Street and 27th Avenue North a little after 5 p.m. local time, The Tennessean reported, adding that the homicide unit was leading the investigation and detectives were interviewing the victims at hospitals. A total of 10 gunshot wound victims are now at area hospitals. 5 were transported by NFD. 5 arrived by private vehicles. A 24-year-old man is deceased. 3 non-critical juv victims are at Vandy Peds. At least 1 of the injured is suspected to have been involved in the gunfire. — Metro Nashville PD (@MNPDNashville) October 13, 2024   City authorities offered more details on the shooting during a press briefing in the evening. Nashville Fire Department Public Information Officer Kendra Loney said that fire department crew members had already been in the area helping with homecoming festivities when the shooting happened. These crew members recounted how they initially thought they were hearing fireworks before realizing there was gunfire and “then they quickly got into action,” Loney said. She also said the crew members relayed how they did things such as use their belts as tourniquets because they did not have their medical bags. “While we don’t wish any ill on anyone, we are upset, we are angry about that disruption, we are angry that there were persons whose days were disrupted, that the innocence in this event was taken away, and that lives were endangered,” Loney said. Nashville Police Commander Anthony McClain, who noted he graduated from Tennessee State University, said he and his family were “enjoying” the school’s homecoming celebration when tragedy struck. “It’s unfortunate that a few folks pretty much ruined it for everybody, okay? So we have to come to the point where we stop this violence,” McCain said. “Fortunately for us, we had quite a few officers working the area. I think they were able to mitigate the carnage, so to speak. We appreciate their efforts. We appreciate the efforts of the fire department as well.” Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell, a Democrat, posted about the shooting on X. Earlier today, hundreds of us marched down historic Jefferson Street for homecoming. What was a joyous atmosphere is tonight very different because of a senseless act of violence carried out by people who didn’t care who else might be caught in the crossfire. — Freddie O’Connell (@freddieoconnell) October 13, 2024 “Earlier today, hundreds of us marched down historic Jefferson Street for homecoming,” he said. “What was a joyous atmosphere is tonight very different because of a senseless act of violence carried out by people who didn’t care who else might be caught in the crossfire.” The mayor added, “Sadly, many in our community are familiar with the pain inflicted by gun violence. It hurts anew every time. We’re grateful for our first responders who quickly rendered aid and secured the scene – and sorrowful and prayerful for the victims.”

MSNBC's Steele Mocks Trump: Fat Like 'Wally The Walrus,' 'Old As Dirt,' Maybe 'Brain Worms'

On the Saturday edition of MSNBC's The Weekend, co-host Michael Steele -- a former RNC chairman turned member of the disgraced Lincoln Project -- took the occasion of Kamala Harris's release of health records to mock Donald Trump. Steele slammed Trump for not released medical records, saying he has doctors lie about his weight when he's fat like "Wally the Walrus." He added: "The man is old as dirt. He's the oldest man to ever run for president." We certainly hope that Steele, who turns 66 one week from today, is not experiencing any short-term memory loss. He apparently forgot that Biden, who is three years older than Trump, announced his run for a second term back on April 25, 2023. Just months ago, they sat around on Steele's show and envied Biden's mental fitness at his age!  Steele complained "the country doesn't seem to care that he doesn't release his health records, that we have no idea what's going on in that little brain of his. Maybe he had brain worms, like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. We don't know." Steele asked Princeton prof Eddie Glaude Jr. how Trump gets away without releasing his medical records. Gaude's explanation: the press, Democrats, and mainstream Republicans have been "tiptoeing around Donald Trump for fear that he would activate the ugliness of his base, and endanger the country." Democrats and the MSM have been "tiptoeing around Donald Trump?" Where has the good professor been since Trump came down that famous escalator nine years ago?  And speaking of logic, Steele also said:  "Kamala Harris is releasing her health records today. Every presidential candidate has, since presidential candidates have been releasing their records." So candidates have been releasing their records since candidates have been releasing their records? Pretty sure the great James Taranto would identify that as a tautology!  Here's the transcript. MSNBC The Weekend 10/12/24 8:03 am EDT MICHAEL STEELE: Kamala Harris is releasing her health records today. Every presidential candidate has, since presidential candidates have been releasing their records. Donald Trump has yet, in all the time that we have known of him and seen him, has refused to do so. He's had, you know, doctors sort of put together a piece of paper with a whole lot of BS on it about the man weighing 215 pounds, looking like Wally the Walrus. But, okay, we'll set that aside. The New York Times, though, reports, "Iif he wins, Trump could enter the Oval Office with an array of potentially worrisome issues, medical experts say. Cardiac risk factors, possible aftereffects from the July assassination attempt and the cognitive decline that naturally comes with age, among other things." The man is old as dirt. He's the oldest man to ever run for president. And yet, the country doesn't seem to care that he doesn't release his health records, that we have no idea what's going on in that little brain of his. Maybe he had brain worms, like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. We don't know. How does he get away with this? And why is the country so accepting that Donald Trump can just say, you know, I'm not going to tell you about my health? But the press, and others seemingly, demand that everybody else put out theirs. EDDIE GLAUDE JR.: First of all, it is such a wonderful time to be here on The Weekend, Michael, and to see you guys. But you don't require a professor to try to make clear or make plain what's going on.  Donald Trump has been given a pass in so many ways. He represents, not America, as such, but a large slice of America. And there's this sense that the spoiled man can do whatever he wants, because there's a fear that you will activate the anger of his base.  And it seems to me that we have been tiptoeing around Donald Trump. That is, not only the press, but also Democrats, and particularly mainstream Republicans, tiptoeing around Donald Trump for fear that he would activate the ugliness of his base and endanger the country. And I think that particular approach has come back to bite us in the behind.

WashPost Film Critic: Reagan Movie Too Soft, Trump Movie Not Vicious Enough

Washington Post film critic Ty Burr not only hated the biopic Reagan with Dennis Quaid as too soft and bland. He lashed out at the young-Trump movie The Apprentice as not at all harsh enough on Trump. Shouldn't Republicans always be unintelligent monsters? So say the film critics on the Left.  Burr mentioned both movies near the top of his movie review on the front page of Thursday's Style section: "The Apprentice isn’t the scorched-earth hit job that Donald Trump supporters have feared and others have hoped for. Nor is it the kind of bland Great Man biopic that would sweep its subject’s flaws and crimes under the rug, as in the recent Reagan." The Trump film's director Ali Abbasi disappointed the Left by saying he didn't want to make a “political movie.” That might just be a way to expand the audience right in mid-October when it can have political impact. Burr shot back: "If that strikes you as disingenuous or naive or both — if the idea of a Trump movie that isn’t political seems absurd, if even possible — you’re not the only one. (That includes several audience members at the Q&A who expressed surprise that the film wasn’t harder on the 45th president.)" So Trump should basically be presented as Satan. Burr says Roy Cohn is Satan, several times. The movie is "the tale of how a raw young real estate brat from Queens became Donald Trump under the tutelage of Satan himself, Roy Cohn, who served as Joe McCarthy’s wingman in the 1950s." Communists are never villains, only anti-communists. Burr repeats the Satan part here: actor Jeremy "Strong has the showier performance; his Cohn is reptilian and mesmerizingly assured, the snake in the garden of the Big Apple." And: "the older man takes him under his wing as a blank template for the dark arts according to Roy Cohn, rules of the road that, in Gabriel Sherman’s screenplay, have the blunt force of hindsight." This does not sound like an apolitical movie! Then Burr turns to a marital-rape scene, and you ask "the film should have been harder on Trump"?  So, yes, there is the scene of marital rape to which Ivana testified and later recanted. In the film, it’s an ugly argument that becomes something far uglier and more violent, and that Abbasi stages with a detachment not so much reportorial as uninflected. It’s a shocking sequence, yet it leaves barely a ripple. As we noted before, Burr really hated Reagan and while Roy Cohn was Satan, he can't imagine why communism would be seen as evil:  Reagan organizes its narrative around its subject’s lifelong fight against the Red Menace, which it assumes we know is bad without being told why. Godlessness, mostly.... The faithful for whom Reagan was made aren’t likely to see that it’s a hagiography as rosy and shallow as anything in a Kremlin May Day parade. As pop-culture propaganda — popaganda, if you will — the movie’s strictly for true believers. As history, it’s worthless.
