The District of Columbia has refused to provide answers to Congress on the deaths of five premie-sized babies recovered from a Washington, D.C., abortion clinic, Republican Texas Rep. Chip Roy said in a Thursday letter — including whether or not they’ve preserved the baby bodies as evidence. In a letter first obtained by The Daily Wire, Roy accuses Attorney General Merrick Garland, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, and Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith of a “lackluster investigation into the five aborted children, also know as the DC Five, whose remains were discovered at the Washington Surgi-Clinic in March 2022 by pro-life advocates.” The babies were reportedly aborted by D.C. abortionist Cesare Santangelo, and their bodies have been in the medical examiner’s possession for over two years. Pro-life groups believe that the babies were aborted in violation of the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act or the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act. Thus far, authorities have shown no interest in investigating the babies’ deaths, and since there are no laws restricting abortions in the nation’s capitol, D.C. authorities have previously said that the babies were aborted in accordance with D.C. law. “As the Subcommittee continues to conduct its investigation into the District of Columbia’s and the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) enforcement of the Partial-Birth Abortion Act and the Born Alive Infants Protection Act,” Roy wrote in the letter, “serious concerns remain surrounding the deaths of these children.” In February, Roy requested that the mayor and MPD confirm that the remains would not be disposed of. Neither the mayor nor MPD have informed Roy on whether they have preserved the baby bodies as evidence, he said. Medical Examiner’s office.” The Texas congressman called upon Garland, Bowser, and Smith to provide confirmation by October 24 that they would not destroy any evidence related to the five babies. In February, after lawmakers and pro-life groups called on D.C. officials to stop the disposal of the baby remains, the D.C. Medical Examiner told the American Center for Law & Justice that it would not be disposing of the baby bodies on February 9, as pro-life activists and conservative lawmakers had feared. Their fears were based on a Daily Signal report in which Thomas More Society attorney Martin Cannon said that the medical examiner had informed him that the DOJ had given him the green light to dispose of the babies. Cannon represents Lauren Handy, who is currently in jail for violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act when she sought to stop women from aborting their unborn babies. Handy has said that the babies represented important evidence in defending her from the Justice Department’s charges. As The Daily Wire’s Leif Le Mahieu reported, Handy was sentenced to 57 months in prison and three years of supervised release in May 2024 after she was convicted on the FACE charges as well as conspiracy against rights related to her sit-in at the D.C.-based Washington Surgi-Clinic late-term abortion facility. “There was only one thing around which Ms. Handy and her co-defendants were unified, and that was nonviolence,” Cannon said when Handy was sentenced.  “They conspired to be peaceful. Yet, today, the Court granted the Biden Department of Justice its wish by sentencing Ms. Handy to 57 months — nearly 5 years in prison. For her efforts to peacefully protect the lives of innocent pre-born human beings, Ms. Handy deserves thanks, not a gut-wrenching prison sentence.” Garland, Bowser, and MPD did not immediately respond to requests for comment for this story.

Several U.S. Senators called this week for CBS News to release the full “60 Minutes” interview with Vice President Kamala Harris after the show was widely accused of deceptively editing her responses to questions. Controversy erupted after “60 Minutes” published remarks from Harris in a promotional video of her interview with the show that did not match what she stated when the interview aired. Senate Minority Whip John Thune (R-ND) told The Daily Wire: “If the Harris campaign stands by all of the vice president’s comments, then I’m not sure why they wouldn’t support releasing the full interview.” “In fact, their refusal to join these calls only raises more questions,” he added. When President Joe Biden steps down in January, he’ll hand his successor a world far more dangerous than the one he inherited four years ago. Under his watch, the U.S. returned Afghanistan to the barbarous Taliban and watched wars break out in Europe and the Middle East. But when all is said and done, history may judge Biden most harshly for his failure to hold Beijing to account for its aggression in the South China Sea. If not reversed, this appeasement could invite a war even more horrific than the ones currently underway. Last month, the Philippines—an ally with whom America has a defense treaty and security commitment—was forced to withdraw a coast guard vessel it had anchored at Sabina Shoal, an atoll well within its exclusive economic zone which China claims as its own. Beijing besieged the shoal to block Manila from resupplying the ship it had placed there to prevent a Chinese takeover. With the ship badly damaged by the ramming it endured, and some of its crew members in need of medical attention, Manila had little choice but to abandon the shoal, which is now vulnerable to Chinese occupation. The saga over Sabina Shoal came on the heels of a nearly year-long standoff over the Philippines’ efforts to resupply personnel stationed on a crumbling World War II-era vessel beached on Second Thomas Shoal. That standoff ended after the two sides entered a “provisional agreement” that enabled the Philippines to resupply the ship. That Beijing should dictate how Manila can operate within its own exclusive economic zone is outrageous. That the U.S. didn’t come to its ally’s defense as Chinese ships rammed holes into Philippine vessels is unconscionable. During the height of the drama over Second Thomas Shoal, Biden reiterated that if Beijing crossed the threshold into armed conflict, America would come to Manila’s defense. It was an important reminder of Washington’s commitment, but such statements are the equivalent of giving China a green light to continue engaging in activities short of open warfare. Biden should have known better after what he experienced as President Barack Obama’s vice president. In 2012, the Obama administration watched China illegally seize Scarborough Shoal from the Philippines. The next year, Beijing started building artificial islands to fortify its claims over several other rocks and underwater shoals in the contested Spratly Islands, sending the entire region in an uproar. Obama protested to no avail, then warned Beijing not to militarize the islands, which it proceeded to do with no consequences. The fact that China and the Philippines aren’t shooting at each other might partially explain the administration’s false sense of security. But Beijing’s incursions are part of a sophisticated strategy of gray zone warfare designed to extract concessions without the costs and risks associated with war. If they are allowed to continue, the best-case scenario will be that Beijing gradually occupies much of the territory it claims in the South China Sea without firing a shot, strengthening its position in one of the world’s most strategic waterways and making the region far more dangerous for the U.S. and its allies. Even more worrying is the ever-present risk of war resulting from these incursions. Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has publicly warned that any Filipino death resulting from China’s actions would be “very close to what we define as an act of war.” There have been a frightening number of encounters over the past year that could have easily led to such an outcome. Indeed, the transition from gray zone incursions to all-out war appears to be just one miscalculation away, and if that happens, the U.S. will find itself in a hot war with its most capable adversary. More must be done to ensure this outcome never occurs. To preserve peace, the next U.S. president will need to abandon Biden’s timidity and actively push China back from the precipice of war. This will require intense diplomacy of the sort rarely seen since the end of the Cold War. It will be unpleasant, but that’s the nature of the brinkmanship Beijing is engaged in. It may also require physically intervening to call China’s bluff and force it to stand down. For example, the U.S. should strongly consider sending Coast Guard or Navy vessels to accompany Philippine resupply missions or to escort a Philippine ship to replace the vessel that withdrew from Sabina Shoal last month. Such actions would not be overly provocative, provided they are carried out in a professional manner that is designed not to needlessly humiliate Beijing, but they would give China a powerful ultimatum—pick a fight with the U.S. or back down. Beijing would choose the latter; the last thing it wants is to overplay its hand and end up in a war with the U.S. China is engaged in a high-stakes game of chicken in which the side that flinches first loses. This works to its advantage when it goes head-to-head against the Philippines, but with the U.S. firmly on its ally’s side and willing to mobilize to show its support, the tables will turn and China will be forced to back down. The sign has become a symbol of free speech.  Constantino kept the sign covered after being told it was “a public safety hazard” and that he’d “end up in jail” if he uncovered it, Constantino explained in an Instagram video. He unveiled the sign on Oct. 8 after Montgomery Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Slezak lifted a temporary restraining order she had issued, purportedly agreeing that the sign does not create safety concerns.  The Sticker Mule CEO told Beck that although he is a “registered Democrat,” he has become disillusioned by the Democrat Party’s embracement of censorship. “One of the first things that really turned me against Twitter and the Democrats and this whole anti-free speech movement was when they banned Roger Stone from Twitter,” said Constantino. He added that at the time he reacted by saying, “‘Whether you like Roger Stone or not he was a personal adviser to Trump, a friend of Trump's from what I understand, and in my opinion a historically relevant person and why would we want to ban historically important individuals from getting an opportunity to speak.’” Constantino himself has also been the target of online censorship. While a court censored Constantino’s political speech in real life, Meta’s Instagram did the same to him online in July. Instagram put a fact check interstitial over an image Constantino posted of former President Donald Trump raising his fist after surviving an assassination attempt. Instagram not only hid the image but also claimed the image was altered.  The New York entrepreneur called for voters to embrace Trump to punish the Democrats for supporting censorship. “We need a show of strength for Trump because really the best thing for the Democrat Party is a massive loss because if they lose by a hair they're gonna keep playing to these crazy ideas that if they censor people that's the path to victory,” Constantino said.  The Sticker Mule CEO added that Democrats needed to learn to embrace the golden rule and respect free speech. “Nobody wants to have duct tape put on their mouth, nobody wants the right to speech taken away, nobody wants that and for one side of the country to want to do that to the other side is really wrong.”  Constantino, who said he was still a “registered Democrat,” lashed out at prominent Democrats and Big Tech honchos for their opposition to free speech. “Sadly the Democrats have gone in the direction of being very opposed to free speech,” Constantino said.  He went on to directly call out vocal advocates of censorship, referencing recent comments from former Secretary of State John Kerry, 2016 Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, Minnesota Governor and Tim Waltz “saying horrible things about not wanting free speech anymore.” He added, “We all saw what [Former Twitter CEO] Jack Dorsey did with Twitter what [Meta CEOr] Mark Zuckerberg did with Facebook during the pandemic.” Constantino is correct by Zuckerberg’s own admission.
