CBS News’ Cleanup of Harris’ ‘60 Minutes’ Stumble Latest Example of Media Panic Over Trump

As former President Donald Trump’s lead in the Electoral College widens over Vice President Kamala Harris, the national media is pulling out all the stops. The latest example: flagrant media bias at CBS News in favor of Harris. Conservatives are taking aim at CBS for what appears to be its attempts to polish Harris’ sloppy speaking style. Harris, known for her meme-worthy, strange verbal meanderings, gave a disjointed, word-salad answer during a “60 Minutes” interview about Israel.  Harris’ unvarnished response first aired on CBS’ Sunday show “Face the Nation,” but didn’t appear in the version that aired on a special Monday edition of “60 Minutes.”  Instead, the network ran a more concise, articulate response from Harris.  This begs the question of whether the Harris campaign pressured CBS News to airbrush her verbal gaffe. CBS must release an unedited copy of the Harris interview to restore its integrity with voters. This would help restore trust among the network’s audience even as public trust in the national media plummets. The veteran polling organization Gallup found trust in television media to be at the lowest point in nearly a quarter century. As someone who has been a frequent guest on CBS programs, I know the network has producers who value evenhandedness, and I appeal to their better angels to do the right thing and come clean. “We do not control CBS’ production decisions and refer questions to CBS,” a Harris campaign aide said in a statement to Fox News Digital.  Will CBS release all correspondence with the Harris campaign to verify this? Trump took notice, posting Wednesday on Truth Social:  This comes also as CBS faces heat for attacking its own “CBS Mornings” co-anchor Tony Dokoupil for his interview with Ta-Nehisi Coates, an anti-Israel, pro-Hamas author who previously wrote comic books, including Marvel Comics’ Black Panther and Captain America titles. CBS’ attack on its own anchor was so blatant that even Shari Redstone, chair of CBS’ parent company Paramount Global, publicly defended Dokoupil. Redstone disagreed with network executives’ behavior in throwing Dokoupil under the bus simply for asking Coates tough questions.  These two episodes sum things up well: CBS News would rather be a propaganda organ for Harris, a Democratic candidate who has not won a single electoral vote in a national primary, than ask tough questions like real journalists do.  How is CBS serving democracy by doing this?  Carrie Sheffield is a senior policy analyst at Independent Women’s Voice. The Staggering Biden-Harris Hypocrisy on Steel Production and National Security

The Staggering Biden-Harris Hypocrisy on Steel Production and National Security

The Biden administration has turned to Japan repeatedly to bolster our national security, especially vis-a-vis China. But when it comes to allowing a Japanese company to acquire U.S. Steel, the administration seems to be conjuring up national security excuses to oppose it. In response to Chinese aggression, the U.S. and Japan announced in April enhanced military cooperation between the two countries, including a joint command structure and a new missile-defense network. President Joe Biden in April called it “the most significant upgrade in our alliance since it was first established” and a “new benchmark for our military cooperation.” Biden and then-Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida also announced deals for sensitive technology, including artificial intelligence, and the accelerated development and commercialization of nuclear fusion. Overall, our two countries struck about 70 new agreements on defense cooperation this year. Separately, when the Biden administration identified Chinese-built cranes at U.S. ports as a national security risk, it turned to a Japanese company instead to produce these advanced cranes. In other words, when the U.S. faces the most sensitive and challenging national security risks, it turns to its trusted ally Japan. Yet the Biden administration is reportedly poised to block a Japanese company from acquiring U.S. Steel on national security grounds—a move that reeks of political self-interest. The administration sent Nippon Steel a letter saying the acquisition would undermine national security because it would supposedly reduce American steel production. It’s no surprise that the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States would come to such a conclusion after Biden openly stated his desire for the deal to be thwarted. It was a highly unusual decision that disregarded the independence with which the committee is supposed to conduct its review of foreign investments. The idea Nippon’s investment would threaten national security is preposterous and ignores our countries’ deeply intertwined national security commitments. It also strains credulity that Nippon would reduce, rather than increase, steel production in the U.S. after making such a major investment. The committee’s reported findings are especially suspect considering Nippon Steel already owns American steel companies, including Standard Steel in Pennsylvania and Wheeling-Nippon Steel in West Virginia. Nippon Steel bidDownload Biden’s opposition comes from his fealty to labor unions, in this case the United Steelworkers. The union’s senior leadership opposes the deal, having aligned itself with Cleveland-Cliffs, a competing bidder. The latter has a cozier relationship with the union and offered about half as much as Nippon. The administration has been candid with its Japanese counterparts, privately telling Japanese diplomats that the president’s opposition reflects his party’s need for the United Steelworkers’ support in the election. It’s a concession that national security risks from the deal are negligible, but perceived political risks reign supreme. U.S. Steel CEO David Burritt has acknowledged that without Nippon Steel’s significant investments, “thousands of good-paying union jobs” would be put at risk. Nippon has pledged to invest $2.7 billion in U.S. Steel’s facilities, including $1 billion for its Monongahela Valley facility near Pittsburgh. That would keep the plants open that employ U.S. Steel workers, who would also benefit from Nippon’s promise not to impose any layoffs. It’s why rank-and-file U.S. Steel employees have broken with the USW leadership to support the acquisition. But Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris would rather acquiesce to union executives than protect steelworkers’ jobs. In her recent interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle, Harris was asked about the lost jobs that would come from nixing the Nippon deal. She deflected and answered that it’s “most important that we maintain America’s ability to have American manufacturing of steel by American workers.” Of course, the best way to preserve American steel manufacturing is to ensure that U.S. Steel facilities receive investment, remain operating, and continue employing American workers. Harris’ economic campaign plan says her administration would place “a special focus on rewarding reinvestment, retooling, and rehiring in long-standing steel and iron communities like those in Pennsylvania’s Mon Valley.” Yet when Nippon comes knocking with $1 billion in hand to invest, Harris would slam the door. Harris said in her MSNBC interview what she understands “the importance of investing in new industries and working actively with the private sector to grow our economy.” Evidently, however, she and Biden do not. DeSantis again castigates Harris for trying to politicize hurricane disaster response: 'She has no role in this process'

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida once again excoriated Vice President Kamala Harris for trying to insert herself into disaster relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Milton. DeSantis made the comments on Thursday when asked by a CBS News reporter about her accusations that he had not taken her phone call about helping the affected residents. 'As the governor here, who’s leading this, I don’t have time for those games. I don’t care about her campaign.' “I didn’t even know she was trying to reach me, but she has no role in this process. And I’ve been dealing with these storms in Florida under both [former President] Trump and Biden. Neither of them ever politicized it. And, in fact, all the storms I’ve dealt with under this administration, although I’ve worked well with the president, she has never called in Florida. She has never offered any support,” said the governor. Harris had started the feud with the governor by accusing him of snubbing her in order to politicize the disaster response. DeSantis fired back at the suggestion with his own fiery statement. "My focus has not been on dealing with Kamala Harris," said the governor last week. "I didn't know she tried to contact me, but I'd also say, it's not about you, Kamala."Oddly enough, President Joe Biden appeared to undermine Harris' attack on DeSantis, leading some to speculate that the president was getting revenge for being shoved out of his re-election campaign. DeSantis went on Thursday to elaborate on this criticism against Harris. “So, what she’s doing is she’s trying to inject herself into this because of her political campaign," he added. "So, as the governor here who’s leading this, I don’t have time for those games. I don’t care about her campaign. Obviously, I’m not a supporter of hers.”Hurricane Milton made landfall late Wednesday in Siesta Key and caused major damage while spawning numerous tornadoes. Five deaths have already been attributed to the storm. Exclusive video captured by Blaze Media national correspondent Julio Rosas showed disaster relief efforts in Clearwater, Florida in the storm's aftermath. Rosas said the relief efforts he documented were organized by Clearwater Police, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, and Florida Fish and Wildlife. Floodwaters reached as high as eight feet in some areas. The hurricane caused electricity to be knocked out for 3 million people in the region and utterly destroyed the roof of the Tropicana baseball stadium, the home of the Tampa Bay Rays. Adult babysitter charged after her pit bulls mauled 1-year-old to death; her teen girl hailed as hero for trying to save baby

A 1-year-old boy was mauled to death by pit bulls belonging to the child's babysitter, who left the infant alone with the aggressive dogs and her 13-year-old daughter. The babysitter is now facing multiple felonies for the baby's tragic death. Heather Rodriguez — a 36-year-old family friend — was trusted to babysit 1-year-old Jiryiah Johnson on Monday morning. However, Rodriguez reportedly got called into work and left the baby alone with her 13-year-old daughter and three pit bulls at her home in San Antonio, Texas. 'In a house full of vicious dogs, what did this lady, this suspect, think was going to happen?'The 13-year-old and baby were inside a bedroom in the house. However, the dogs damaged the door and forced their way into the bedroom. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar described the teen daughter as a "hero" for trying to save the baby from the dogs. "I read the report in detail, and it's pretty heartbreaking. She made every effort possible, even lifting that baby up over her head, but my understanding is the dog actually climbed onto something and was able to get the baby out of her hands and tear the baby out of her hands," Salazar said of the 13-year-old girl. “The little girl, the 13-year-old, was able to maintain control of the baby, but at this point — in what’s being described to be as it was almost a tug-of-war for the baby between at least one of the dogs and the little girl,” Salazar said at a press conference."This little girl was put in a situation where she went from that bedroom to a bathroom to another bedroom and was chased every step of the way by these dogs who were continuing to bite her as well," Salazar added. The girl barricaded herself and the infant into another bedroom where she was able to call for help. "I'm considering her a hero," Salazar said of the girl. "This little girl sustained injuries herself," Salazar said. "I believe she’s going to have some lasting psychological effects as a result of it."Erika Castro — Jiryiah's mother — said, “I thank that girl because ... she did her best.” Deputies with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office weren't able to reach the children immediately once they arrived at the scene. "It wasn't until the owner of the dogs, the suspect, actually made it home and was able to get the dogs outside to allow the deputies to come in and, you know, start administering first aid to the baby," Salazar said. The baby boy suffered significant injuries to his head and throat from the dog attack. Paramedics rushed the boy to the University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead later Monday.KENS-TV reported there were blood stains on a bed, a door, and the floors.Salazar blasted the babysitter, "In a house full of vicious dogs, what did this lady, this suspect, think was going to happen?"The sheriff added, “If you have a dog like that, that you know is vicious, you know is a problem, for one thing, don’t ever bring babies into the house, especially someone else’s baby.” Salazar stated that Rodriguez “seemed more concerned with what was going on with those dogs” than taking responsibility for her actions that led to the death of a 1-year-old. 'You left my son with a 13-year-old girl. It’s pure and utter belligerence. It’s infuriating that that’s allowed. That she made that choice.'Salazar noted that Rodriguez had been cited in April for allowing her dogs to run unleashed and forcing a man to flee to his car since he was fearful he would have been attacked. "I'm furious at the fact that that she knew these dogs were problematic," Salazar declared. "Not only was she exposing her own child to this, to these unpredictable animals that had already caused damage; they were already dangerous, in my opinion. But not only that, she decided to bring a baby into that residence for the sheer profit."Salazar said he is "disgusted by the whole thing."Rodriguez initially was charged with causing serious bodily injury to the child with intent — a first-degree felony. Rodriquez subsequently was hit with two more felonies: injury to a child — reckless bodily injury — as well as endangering a child, imminent danger — causing bodily injury.Salazar was asked why the charges were not upgraded to murder, and he noted that both charges have the same penalty range as murder — between five to 99 years or life in prison with the possibility of a fine of up to $10,000 if convicted.Rodriguez's bond was set at $100,000.Salazar is calling for the dogs involved in the fatal attack to be euthanized but acknowledged that's animal control's decision. The sheriff said of the pit bulls, "My understanding is that only one at present has been fully surrendered. The other two were turned over to animal control, but I spoke to our director of public health this morning, and we're going to be pushing, they'll be pushing, and of course we'll be in a support role to see if we can go ahead and get all three dogs fully surrendered."Salazar stated that if the dogs are not voluntarily surrendered that the Bexar County Sheriff's Office would use the court process to fully seize the other two pit bulls. The grieving mother said, “I’ve been shaking, I’ve been having panic attacks.”The boy's father — Julian Johnson — slammed the babysitter for abandoning his son. “You left my son with a 13-year-old girl," Johnson stated. "It’s pure and utter belligerence. It’s infuriating that that’s allowed. That she made that choice.”A GoFundMe campaign was launched to help the family pay for medical bills and funeral costs.Like Blaze News? Kamala gaslights Americans: Taxpayers fund FREE housing for illegal migrants

The Biden-Harris administration has adamantly denied responsibility for the crisis at the border and accused those speaking out against its open border agenda of simply being “racist.” Liz Wheeler of “The Liz Wheeler Show” believes this is nothing short of gaslighting, while Turning Point USA’s Savanah Hernandez is on the ground proving her and other conservatives right. Hernandez took a recent trip to Brunswick, Maine — and what she found is incredibly damning, to say the least. Hernandez reported that “migrants are getting their rent paid for up to two years” and even spoke to some of the migrants living in the luxury apartments. “The migrants shared with us that they come furnished, so they have a flat-screen TV in there, couches, tables, and chairs, a bed. We also asked them, ‘Hey, are you paying utilities here?’ They shared with us that nope, they do not have a water bill, they do not have an electricity bill,” Hernandez explained. Not only are migrants receiving free handouts from the government, but Hernandez noted that “there is a housing crisis going on currently for residents and these buildings were initially created for Maine residents.” “But then it was decided that homeless migrants would be living here,” she said. While Maine residents can still rent an apartment in the same building Hernandez visited, they have to pay around $1,800 for a one-bedroom, and $2,300 for a two-bedroom. The average housing price in Brunswick is around $480,000. “So there was obviously a lot of outrage when it was first discovered that migrants were going to be housed here for free on taxpayer dollars,” Hernandez concluded. Wheeler is horrified by what Hernandez found. “Remember, if you criticize Kamala Harris’ open borders policy, if you rightly acknowledge that mass migration hurts your country, your state, your community, your neighborhood, and your family, then you are racist according to the left,” she says.
