New Evidence Near Mysterious Carvings Show Persians May Have Escaped to Madagascar for Religious Freedom

Among the sandstone hills and boulders of Madagascar’s Isalo National Park, the curious archaeological site of Teniky has puzzled researchers for decades. These rock-cut niches, once believed to be a makeshift shelter for shipwrecked Portuguese sailors, have now been reinterpreted as a sort of Persian Plymouth Rock, founded by religious settlers looking to practice their […] The post New Evidence Near Mysterious Carvings Show Persians May Have Escaped to Madagascar for Religious Freedom appeared first on Good News Network.

Polo shirts should not be made of polyester

Polo shirts should not be made of polyester

No shirt is more ubiquitous in men's closets today than the polo shirt. And with good reason. It's the shirt you throw on when you want to wear more than a T-shirt but less than a button-up: a middle-ground that's a safe bet for most occasions in this post-business-casual world. Which is why it's a daily go-to for millions of men. The 100% pique knit cotton polo, by contrast, only looks better with age. When the placket shows wear and tear, it feels welcoming. But not all polo shirts are created equal. Some are hardier than others. Some wear better than others. Some last longer than others. Some look more classic than others. Simply put, some are better than others. Tragically, the most commonly found polo shirts are some of the worst polo shirts. They are the polo shirts that should be cast into a great volcano on some distant tropical island. They are the polo shirts that don’t even deserve to be a rag in your garage. They are the polo shirts that look like the uniform for a low-level data analyst at a nuclear waste treatment facility in the distant future. They are the sleek, shiny, polyester monstrosities known as "performance" or "Dri-FIT" polos. Polo shirts can be unflattering. They can be unforgiving. Even the nicest ones can be tough to wear. The way they are constructed and the general thinness of the fabric tend to reveal any imperfections in one’s physique. If you are carrying any extra weight around, a polo shirt is going to throw it in your face. If you ever wonder why you never look that good in a polo, this is the answer. You aren’t alone. And if all this is true with the nicest polos — 100% thick pique cotton knit polos — it is all the more true with their garishly colored petroleum-based counterparts. The main way these garments "perform" is by reliably making you look much worse than you need to. They do this by being utterly redundant. A "sporty" version of the polo shirt? The polo shirt has always been sporty — it was "athleisure" a century before the category existed. The polo shirt was originally meant for tennis. French champion René Lacoste created it in 1926 as a more comfortable alternative to the long-sleeved white button-ups men usually wore on the court. Short sleeves. Pique knit cotton. An unstructured, flat collar. Hard to improve on that. And for years, nobody tried. Until our scientific hubris got the best of us. What if we made these out of plastic? And in colors undreamed of in nature? We were so preoccupied with whether or not we could, we didn't stop to think if we should. But these polos are "moisture wicking," they'll tell you. Nonsense. The claim that moisture-wicking is desperately needed for comfort during normal daily life is a delusion. If it’s so hot that a pique cotton knit polo isn’t cool enough for your daily life, then a short-sleeve linen button-up is in order. Nothing is cooler. Nothing is more classic. The synthetic Dri-FIT polo, like all synthetic things, ages terribly. With every bit of wear, the shirt looks worse. There is no expectation that the shirt will be broken in one day. There is no repairing or mending that will ever be done. The synthetic polo is meant to be tossed the day that it starts showing any kind of wear and tear. The 100% pique knit cotton polo, by contrast, only looks better with age. When the placket shows wear and tear, it feels welcoming. The more broken in, the more comfortable it becomes. The nick on the collar feels like a worn handrail. The fabric is subdued and quiet. The thickness of the knit is forgiving. A synthetic polo leads you down a path of disposability. It looks best with disposable pants and disposable shoes. A 100% cotton polo looks best with 100% cotton khaki chinos and a pair of leather boat shoes. Natural begets natural. Natural complements natural. You deserve a better polo shirt. You deserve a 100% cotton pique knit polo. Row the boat out to the island, climb the ancient steps, look down into the crevasse, and throw your moisture-wicking polo into the volcano and never look back.

These 36 words from Lindsey Graham explain exactly why GOP Senate candidates trail Trump

These 36 words from Lindsey Graham explain exactly why GOP Senate candidates trail Trump

Axios last week highlighted that GOP candidates for U.S. Senate are trailing Donald Trump’s performance in states across the nation. “Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and NRSC Chair Steve Daines are grappling with an uncomfortable reality: Republican Senate challengers are lagging well behind former President Trump in public surveys,” Axios reported. To the millions of Americans paying attention, it really isn’t a surprise that Donald Trump is outperforming Republican candidates across the country. This, of course, is puzzling to the D.C.-based strategists helping to run campaigns. Axios added: “The polling gap has baffled Republican candidates and strategists, who expected it to collapse as November neared.” It isn’t baffling at all. Mitch McConnell has consistently failed to serve as a check on the Biden-Harris administration, just as he did during the Obama and Clinton administrations — aside from blocking Merrick Garland’s nomination to the Supreme Court. Despite its public rhetoric, the Republican wing of the uniparty has often acted as little more than a speed bump to the elites' true objectives: endless wars and the destruction of the fabric of America. Trump offers a different vision, emphasizing a return to the nation’s roots and putting America and its citizens first. U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who never met a war he didn’t like, illustrated this point further. Amid one of the worst natural disasters the South has ever faced, Graham appeared on Fox News and delivered the following 36 words: I’ve been going all over South Carolina; like most people, I haven’t slept much. But look what’s going on in Israel. We have to help our friends to keep the war over there from coming here. In case you hadn’t heard, more than 200 people have died across the hurricane-stricken South. That number is likely to go much higher. On the day Graham appeared on Fox News and uttered those words, more than 300,000 homes and businesses were still without power in his state, six days after the storm hit. Transylvania County, North Carolina, sits about 25 miles from Graham’s Seneca, South Carolina, home. That county, along with others in Western North Carolina, has been nearly destroyed in the aftermath of Helene. The list of examples could go on. Yet even in this situation, Graham briefly acknowledged his constituents' suffering before pivoting to advocate greater spending on overseas conflicts. Yes, Israel has a right to defend itself, and it has been a reliable U.S. ally. However, there’s a time and place to argue for support of Israel — while your constituents are suffering and dying is not it. This disconnect is why Republican Senate candidates trail Trump in polls across the nation. Graham exemplifies the entrenched mindset that led us into this predicament. After decades in the Senate, he has repeatedly sided with the D.C. elites. His and McConnell’s support for the Ukraine war has drained untold treasure from United States citizens. They have consistently capitulated to the Biden-Harris regime by rubber-stamping continuing resolution after continuing resolution. This has funded the government without holding the regime to account for the invasion at our southern border. We now hear that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas admits FEMA lacks funding to help people in the path of the next storm because he spent all of FEMA’s money on those who have illegally invaded the nation. That is as much Mitch and Lindsey’s fault as it is Mayorkas’. To the millions of Americans paying attention, it really isn’t a surprise that former President Donald Trump is outperforming Republican candidates across the country. He puts America and Americans first, while the McConnell- and Graham-led GOP puts lobbyists from the military-industrial complex and illegal immigrants first. Those 36 words uttered by Graham on Fox News strikingly prove that case.

Huge victory for Christian cake baker after more than a decade of LGBTQ harassment in court

A Christian cake baker has finally defeated legal harassment from the LGBTQ+ movement after fighting in court for more than a decade. Jack Phillips was sued in 2012 for refusing to create a cake for a same-sex couple at his Masterpiece Cakeshop in Colorado and then later sued for refusing to create a cake celebrating a transgender transition. Attorneys for the Alliance Defending Freedom have defended Phillips for 12 years. 'Enough is enough. Jack has been dragged through courts for over a decade. It’s time to leave him alone.' On Tuesday the Colorado Supreme Court dismissed the second lawsuit after saying that the attorney who filed the lawsuit did not follow the proper process to do so. Phillips won the first lawsuit in 2018 after a court found that officials acted with hostility against his faith. Neither of the legal victories established Phillips' constitutional right to free speech as a basis for dismissal. “Enough is enough. Jack has been dragged through courts for over a decade. It’s time to leave him alone,” said Jake Warner, the senior counsel for ADF. “Free speech is for everyone," he added. "In this case, an attorney demanded that Jack create a custom cake that would celebrate and symbolize a transition from male to female. Because that cake admittedly expresses a message, and because Jack cannot express that message for anyone, the government cannot punish Jack for declining to express it. The First Amendment protects that decision.”The ADF said that the attorney who sued Phillips had also asked him to decorate a cake with the image of Satan smoking marijuana in an attempt to "correct the errors" of Phillips' thinking. "Phillips serves people from all backgrounds. Like many artists, he decides to create custom cakes based on what they will express, not who requests them," read a statement from ADF. Like Blaze News? Teamsters boss goes scorched-earth on Democratic Party: 'They have f***ed us over for the last 40 years'

Sean O'Brien, the general president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, is a self-identified Democrat who has in recent years made no secret of his antipathy to elements of the GOP. However, O'Brien — like the overwhelming majority of Teamsters — has recognized that the Democratic Party deserves even more of his ire. Speaking to comedian Theo Von on the Monday episode of "This Past Weekend," O'Brien said, "I'll be honest with you, I'm a Democrat, but they have f***ed us over for the last 40 years." "And for once, and not all of them, but for once, we're standing up as a union, probably the only one right now, saying, 'What the f*** have you done for us?'" continued O'Brien. The Teamsters union, which has over 1.3 million members, announced in September that it would not endorse any candidate for president for the first time since 1988. Straw polls conducted between April and July indicated that President Joe Biden had the support of the Teamsters. Following Biden's ouster, a majority of voting members twice selected Trump in polls for a possible Teamsters endorsement over Harris. An electronic member poll conducted between July 24 and Sept. 25 showed that 59.6% of Teamsters supported Trump. Only 34% signaled support for Harris. A research phone poll conducted Sept. 9-15 similarly had Trump up by double digits, 58% to Harris' 31%. "I'm getting attacked from the left, and we've given — since I've been in office, two and a half years — we've given the Democratic machine $15.7 million," continued O'Brien. "We've given Republicans about $340,000, truth be told. So it's like, you know, people say the Democratic Party is the party of the working people. They're bought and paid for by Big Tech." 'The f***ing system's broken.' Extra to Trump's personal outreach to the unions, Blaze News previously noted that his selection of Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) as his running mate helped curry favor with unions on account of Vance's support for tariffs and protectionist economic policies. "For the short time we've worked together, he's been great on Teamster issues," O'Brien said of Vance on Fox News. "He's been right there on all our issues." "If 60% of our members aren't supporting [the Democrats], the f***ing system's broken," O'Brien told Von. "You need to fix it. Stop pointing fingers at Sean O'Brien. Stop pointing fingers at the Teamsters union. Look in the mirror." "Before, you always had Democrats fighting for working people, and, you know, Republicans, now we kind of see a switch where working people feel like, number one, they've been left behind by the Democratic Party. Two, you know, the Republicans say they want to be working-class [and] represent the working class. They have an opportunity to do it." In August, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. similarly suggested that a political realignment was under way. "I think there's been a bunch of realignments, of political realignments — about four or five throughout American history," Kennedy told Tucker Carlson. "I think we're going through one right now." Kennedy emphasized that the Democratic Party of yesteryear is gone and that what remains, with the Harris "apparatus" at the helm, is an anti-democratic force synonymous with corporatism, military adventurism, and censorship. God's army: Hurricane Helene reveals the BEST of Americans and WORST of the federal government

Hurricane Helene blindsided the people of the Southeast — and in light of conflicting reports from citizens, the government, and the media, Glenn Beck has been on the ground to figure out exactly what’s going on. “I’ve seen one FEMA truck,” Glenn tells Hilary Kennedy and Matthew Peterson of “Blaze News Tonight.” “We were driving with eight, nine people. I was the only one that saw the truck tucked away from everyone. I said to them, ‘What are you doing here?’” Glenn recalls that the FEMA crew was “sitting at a card table with one computer.” “They said, ‘Well, we need to be where the people are,’ and I thought, well, the people aren’t here,” he says, adding, “It is absolutely ridiculous what the government is doing, but again, the hope is coming from the people here.” “It’s all being done by former Special Forces, the Harley-Davidson dealer here is doing it. I mean, this is communities and one American after another coming in and just helping,” he explains. “So you’re confirming that what you’re seeing is very little action from the federal government,” Peterson says. “No,” Glenn retorts. “What I’m saying is ‘No action from the federal government.’” There is some action in the form of taking supplies from well-meaning citizens who are attempting to help. “You will have a well-sourced story that is telling you when FEMA does arrive, what they do. One source is a semi-truck driver who had been pulled over by FEMA, and they took his food off his truck, because they know better,” Glenn says. “We have FEMA trying to shut down this helo field because the FAA isn’t involved.” “Screw the FAA. If you had planes down here, and you had helicopters yourself, and you were rescuing them, then fine. We’d shut this down. But you’re not here, and I really don’t think they care,” he adds.
