The incredible blandness of AI photography

Just a few taps in Google Photos, and you can AI the crowds away. Skógafoss is a must-see, everyone said, and in a country with as much natural beauty as Iceland, that means it’s gonna be some majestic shit. The waterfall didn’t disappoint, but even on a chilly weekday in March, the place was mobbed. My photos — and c’mon, you have to take photos — were littered with tourists in puffy coats, all taking their own pictures of the falls. Not exactly the stuff you print and hang on the wall. Adobe has a new tool to protect artists’ work from AI

Adobe is releasing a new web app next year alongside a Chrome extension (pictured) for inspecting content metadata. | Image: Adobe Adobe is expanding its Content Credentials “nutrition labels” to make it even easier for creatives to be credited for their work, identify what is and isn’t AI online, and protect their content in the process. The Content Authenticity web app can be used to widely apply attribution data to content that contains the creator’s name, website, social media pages, and more. It also provides an easier way for creatives to opt their work out of AI training en mass compared to laboriously submitting individual protections for their... Continue reading…

This controller can change the layout of its face button labels

The GameSir Tarantula Pro controller features a motorized mechanism to change the labels on its action buttons. | Image: GameSir GameSir’s new Tarantula Pro controller is designed for multiple gaming platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, PCs, and Steam devices. To make switching between those platforms a little easier, both the layout and the labels of the controller’s face buttons can be changed. The $69.99 Tarantula Pro addresses a common problem experienced by gamers with multiple consoles. The Nintendo Switch uses a clockwise button layout of X, A, B, and Y, while the Xbox, Steam Deck, and mobile controllers for Apple and Android devices use a Y, B, A, and X layout.
