An experiencer contacted me about their ordeal with a black-eyed teenage boy who would manifest at night in their bedroom and continuously torment them.I received the following account:"So this happened a long time ago in 2008 in a galaxy not so far, far away in Wolfdale, PA. Now I’ve had a pretty good life. Loving parents. 2 cool big sisters. Lots of friends and no bullies at school. Never wanted anything as my parents always got me any video game I wanted. But I got a story I never told anyone before. Not my parents, not my big sisters, and not even my friends for fearing I’d be labeled crazy.I always slept with the TV on. Whatever bothered me at night would not bother me when the TV was on. But sometimes my parents would turn off the TV, and things got weird. I was tormented for three years by this thing that could turn invisible. It looked like a very slender yet very toned teenage boy with black eyes like one of those black-eyed kids. He wore a white tank top and baggy black sweats but no shoes at all. He had cuts and scratches all up and down on his arms. He was super pale. He had dirty blonde colored hair. Before every time it’d appear I’d feel a sense of impending danger, panic, and doom but like I said. It could turn invisible so it was hard to gauge where it was in the room before it’d start messing with me so it was hard to prepare myself. It’d also reappear and disappear constantly to mess with me.Now this thing would scare me each time until I was so full of fear like tears running like waterfalls down both cheeks, trembling, heart beating like a drum, frozen stiff with fear and clinging to my sheets or it’d make too much noise someone like one of my sisters or parents would come wondering what was going on.It’d do things like play tug of war with my blankets. It’d purposely let me think I’d win the tug of war before it’d just yank them off the bed and throw them on the floor. It’d do things like jumping on the bed. It could mimic voices and noises it would sometimes sneak up on me and make creepy noises like animal growls or making monster noises from my video games and movies I liked to play and watch like the Tusken Raider noise from Star Wars (It wouldn’t do this often as it’d wake people up). An even crueler trick it’d do was mimic door knocking and the voice of one of my big sisters coming to check on me before appearing and messing with me. It’d also often mock and taunt me in different voices. It’d also pin me down and force me to stare at those unsettling black voids it called eyes.I tried saying any kind of prayer to see if that’d help but it’d just mock me. It’d sometimes let me run to the door before shutting it and putting all its weight so I couldn’t open it. And I’d just be left there beating and banging on it a sobbing crying whimpering sobbing terrified mess. This thing would have me so terrified I couldn’t even scream for help. I could only squeak out for help.It would sit on my chest, yank the pillow out from under my head, and start bopping me with it in a one-sided pillow fight. It tried pulling me under the bed a time or two. It’d mess with my feet if they were out of the blanket or over the bed. It’d tickle them, grab them tightly just to scare me and three times it even bit my foot. Not hard enough to puncture skin but still.It’d do things like letting me hide under the blankets thinking I was safe then it’d yank the blankets off first before plucking me off the bed a time or two and play airplane with me tossing me up and down in the air. Sometimes it’d throw me back on the bed. Sometimes it’d just let me fall flat on the floor where I’d scramble to the door and run out of the room. On one of these times, I was able to go and wake someone up. Every other time it’d let me get halfway out of the room before tripping me and dragging me back in my legs.It’d give me random bear hugs at times. Like really strong bear hugs. It’d give me headlocks and noogies from hell. It wouldn’t bother anyone else in the house. I’d try ignoring it multiple times but it didn’t work. So anyway one night I get down by the foot of my bed and start closing my eyes and praying as hard as I can. The whole time this thing mocking me and punching me in the back.Next thing I know this thing lets out a super loud hissing sound like it’s seriously hurt. And every light in my room turns on once. Desk lamp, TV, ceiling fan light, and even side bathroom light. Like brighter than what a light bulb could be possibly. It was so bright it actually woke up my one big sister down the hallway. Alleged UFO/humanoid encounter at Arcadia Lake, on Edmond, Oklahoma's far east side, involving a fraternity brother, presumably from the University of Central Oklahoma.Did this still unidentified young man really see a UFO in and above the lake in late August 2013? And did three “Tall Blond” or “Nordic” aliens – two females and a male - approach this person asking for his help?At this point, we are still unsure of what really happened or whether or not this is really true. You can read our original post on this case – “Close encounter of the frat kind?” – to learn more about the case.In the meantime, the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) has taken an interest in the Arcadia Lake case and in our communications with Roger Marsh, MUFON Director of Public Relations, we learn that a second case has been filed having taken place at the same time at Arcadia Lake and disturbing coincides with the other report from the college student.In the early morning hours of Saturday, August 24, 2013, the eyewitness stated they were fishing for catfish in Arcadia Lake. The person, also unidentified, stated that they had noticed people at a campsite on the shoreline, where the original eyewitness – the “frat brother” – was said to have been.“A giant bright and glowing light appeared under the surface of the lake,” they reported. “It was fairly large and had a light green color to it with a rhythmic flashing of red and blue lights.”The light went from one side of Arcadia Lake to the other before shooting up in the sky and then “reappeared hovering right over the campsite that I mentioned earlier and disappeared again.”The light would reappear and then disappear for good. The fisherman states that he went to investigate the scene of the sighting and noted the truck and bags of trash, as the frat brother had noted in his report, but the fisherman said he “did not see anyone by the truck or in the immediate area.”Is this case a hoax? We are so far not sure. We have contacted UCO spokesperson Adrienne Nobles, seeking information on whether any fraternities were holding an event out at Arcadia Lake on the night in question.Nobles, in an email, wrote: “(T)here was no event registered with their (Fraternity and Sorority) office on Saturday, August 24 … (t)hey also have not heard anything from any of their organizations about a non-registered event on that weekend.”We also spoke at length with Rick Gardner, Oklahoma MUFON’s lead investigator. Gardner said he has attempted – without much success – to follow up on the Arcadia Lake reports by emailing the fisherman and fraternity brother – both of whom gave curiously matching reports.Meanwhile, investigators went out to the north side of Arcadia Lake, accessible to Route 66, and talked to Rex DeMoss, an officer with the Edmond Police Department’s Arcadia Lake office.DeMoss said he was unaware of anything unusual having happened at the lake recently and was unfamiliar with the strange report relayed by the frat brother and the fisherman. He said that if he did hear anything he would let us know.Taking a look at the Arcadia Lake shoreline at Edmond Park, it was clearly a well-used campsite. Grills had been recently used. Beer cans were crushed and scattered about. Clearly, lakeside parties take place here. And for a Wednesday afternoon things were pretty quiet on a blue-sky, Oklahoma day. Nearby, a recreation building used by UCO sat empty.So, was this the site where the incident took place?And over at the nearby Arcadia Lake Project Office, we spoke with Nicole Offutt about the UFO/alien encounter Red Dirt Report was investigating. Offutt chuckled and said she had not heard anything about such a thing happening at the lake, but said if she did, she too would let us know.She shares an interview with a man named “Tyler Jones” who is from Gadsden, Alabama, and had witnessed the aftermath of cattle mutilations on his family farm. He later noted an abduction he and his brother experienced on this same farm in Alabama where the cattle mutilations had taken place 20 years earlier.During Tyler’s alleged abduction, in the classic sense, he finds himself on an examination table and begins to scream in terror. But then an entity touches his forehead and calms him down. When he described the entity, he told Howe: “I guess you would say he was like a Swedish person would look like – blond hair, bluish eyes. He was around 7 feet tall. Sharp, square jaws. Lips are just like ours. His head was a little larger in the back than ours would be. His hair was perfectly straight down to his shoulders. – very blond, almost white. The skin was pale – glowing.”That description is very similar to the one the fraternity brother reported, saying that they had “blonde hair that was almost white and blue eyes.” Was this young man at Arcadia Lake abducted and missing when the fisherman came by his truck to see if anyone was around? The fraternity that I am a member of(which is part of a near by University) just finished having our back to school get together with some of our members. The location of the site was right by the shore of the lake.It was about one o'clock in the morning and I was the last one there and had been by myself for around thirty minutes. It was my responsibility that night to let no one drive back home while intoxicated and make sure the camp site was in good shape when we were done. As a result of my duties that night I was completely sober and had not been drinking or using any drugs.Right after I loaded the last bag of trash in the back of my truck I had this strange urge to look at the lake. The best way to describe that feeling was as if I had been day dreaming. There was nothing unusual going on out on then all of the sudden there was a bright glowing light under the water. At this particular distance I could tell exactly how large the circle was but it was big.The shape was circular and had a light green/yellowish glow with occasional pulsating reed and blue lights. I starred at it dumbfounded as it was moving slowly under the water from one side of the lake to the opposite side. The object moved from one side and back to the other two or three times for about five minutes then it stopped almost near the center of the lake. The object glowed brighter and brighter than shot straight out of the water and into the sky.After that I turned around and ran as fast as I could to my truck. Once I got to my truck I stopped and fumbled around in my pockets for a couple of seconds looking for my keys and seemingly out of no where a bright light appeared above and slightly behind me.I turned around to see what was behind me and there was was this giant ship. It wasnt a saucer shaped one that everyone talks about but it had more of a cake shape. It handt landed but just hovered around twenty to thirty feet off the ground for a couple of seconds. Then shot back up into the sky.I turned back to my truck door and tried to unlock it when I caught something at the corner of my. I jumped back against the side of my truck and about 15 feet away stood three people staring at me that had not been there prior to this incident. There were two very attractive woman and one very tall man that was at least ten feet high. All of them had blonde hair that was almost white and blue eyes.They did not say anything to me directly but I heard one of the the womans voice in my head. I know your probably thinking that I am crazy but it did happen. She said, "(my name) please do not be afraid. You have an important role to play if you would like to help us." I said out loud in a shaky voice "okay but I dont know how?" Then the woman said, "dont worry you will know in time." Right after she said that everything went black.Eventually I woke up around two thirty. Laying about thirty feet away from my last remembered position at the side of my truck." If you’re an avid film watcher, you’ve probably come across some rather odd urban legends and myths. What’s amazing is that often times real-life occurrences of mass hysteria, spurred on by mass psychogenic illness or collective obsessional behavior are much more bizarre and scary than fictional myths. These anomalous phenomena occur just like other natural phenomena and have long-lasting psychological and often fatal effects on the victims. Unusual as they are, similarly absurd phenomena are observed in animals and plants as well.200+ Years of Witch Hunts, Trials and ExecutionsMost common in the Early Modern period (1480 to 1700) in Europe, witch hunts were one of the most popular and widespread forms of mass hysteria, resulting in legally sanctioned witchcraft trials and mob lynchings of many unfortunate people. The practice was so widespread that in later years absurdity of these accusations caused the term to adopt a connotation of malicious false accusations and persecution such as the anti-communist accusations during the McCarthy era.The Dancing Plague of 1518In July 1518 in Strasbourg, Alsace, France, a large number of people spontaneously started dancing for days without rest over one month. Most of the people ended up dying due to heart attacks, strokes, or exhaustion. The plague started with one woman, in a matter of a few days that number increased to 34, and within a month to 400. To this day the cause of the mass hysteria is unknown.The War of the Worlds Martian InvasionAdapted from H. G. Wells’ famous novel The War of the Worlds, a Halloween radio broadcast on October 30, 1938, directed and narrated by Orson Welles caused thousands of listeners to believe that an actual Martian invasion was taking place (the fact that the environment was already generally hostile, leading up to the war, didn’t help). The hour-long radio broadcast was narrated in a news bulletin format, without any commercial breaks, causing many in the audience to be afraid while many others actually panicked, reporting that they could smell poison gas or see lightning flashes in the distance. According to some historians, approximately 6 million people heard the broadcast, 1.7 million thought it was true, and out of those, 1.2 million were actually frightened.The Tanganyika Laughter EpidemicThis laughter epidemic started in a Tanzanian village in 1962. Starting with an innocent joke in a boarding school, the resulting laughter is said to have perpetuated itself and spread to thousands of people. The laughter, some people claim was incapacitating. Other symptoms included respiratory problems, fainting, pain, and weirdly enough, crying attacks. The phenomenon lasted for about 18 months.The Halifax Slasher IncidentIn November 1938, in Halifax, England, a week-long scare was started after 2 people falsely claimed to have been attacked by a man with a mallet. In the days that followed, more reports of attacks by this ‘mysterious man’ started popping up. The situation got so serious that the Scotland Yard had to step in to help the police and get to the bottom of these reports. Several people were mistakenly identified as the slasher and consequently beaten up by angry mobs and matters escalated to a point where most businesses in the city were shut down and people were afraid to leave their homes. On November 29, one of the original alleged victims admitted that he had made the story up, causing many others to also confess and leading to 5 people being charged with public mischief out of which 4 were eventually sent to prison.Strawberries With Sugar Soap Opera DiseaseMorangos com Açúcar is a famous Portuguese youth soap opera that was popular, predominantly among children and teenagers because of its depiction of the adventures of Portuguese youth. In May 2006, over 300 students across 14 different schools began reporting symptoms matching those of the characters on the show, including rashes, respiratory difficulties, and more, causing many schools to shut down. The ‘disease’ was ultimately dubbed mass hysteria by the Portuguese National Institute for Medical Emergency.The Misanthropic Monkey-Man of DelhiThe story of this monkey-man is widespread in India though still remains a cryptid. Starting in May 2001, people started reporting that a strange monkey-man was attacking them at night. Descriptions of the monkey-man vary a great deal, with some believing him to be an avatar of a Hindu god, while others believe he is an Indian version of Bigfoot, and some even believe that he is a cyborg that can be deactivated if you throw water on its motherboard. The alleged victims include numerous people attacked by the monkey-man, including one pregnant woman, and a few others who were attacked by an angry mob that believed them to be the monkey-man.The Revenge of Kuchisake-OnnaKuchisake-onna, or Slit-Mouth Woman, is a Japanese mythological legend that tells the story of an unfortunate woman whose face was mutilated by a jealous husband, and who returns as an angry spirit hell-bent on taking revenge by inflicting similar wounds on others. As with any good urban legend, rumors started circulating in 1979 about Kuchisake-onna sightings, then again in 2004, and again in 2007.The Hindu Milk MiracleThe Hindu milk miracle was first observed on September 21, 1995. A worshiper in a south-Delhi temple made a routine offering of milk to a statue of a Hindu god, and the liquid disappeared from the bowl, apparently sucked in by the trunk of the statue. In a matter of few hours, the word spread that a similar phenomenon could be replicated with statues all over North India. Similar ‘miracles’ were also reported on in 2006.Genital Retraction SyndromeGenital Retraction Syndrome is a form of mass hysteria where people are overcome with the belief that their genitals (most commonly penises and breasts) are shrinking, or retracting into the body. Sometimes people even believe that they may spontaneously disappear. Such panics have occurred in many different places in the world, but most commonly in Africa in Asia. The panics are noticeably more common in places with lower standards or provision of education and where the local understanding of science and biology is lacking.The 2006 Mumbai Sweet Seawater IncidentIn 2006, residents of Mumbai claimed and began reporting that the water at one of the most polluted creeks in India, the Mahim Creek, had turned sweet. The claim, as ridiculous as it sounds considering that the creek receives thousands of tonnes of raw sewage and industrial waste every day, caused many to drink the water and save it in plastic bottles for later consumption.NOTE: I have written about some of these syndromes or phenomena, and there are a lot of people who still believe most of these incidents to be fact. For instance, the Monkey-Man of Delhi encounters most likely occurred, it's just a case of identifying what the phenomenon was. Many more lesser-known oddities could have been added to this list. Over the years, we've heard and read about a variety of cryptid sightings in Fayette County, PA, which includes a supposed underwater beast in the Cheat River known as the 'Monster of Seltzer's Hole.' The Cheat River is a 78-mile-long tributary of the Monongahela River. The following account appeared in the Philadelphia Times on July 31, 1893:"For months past farmers living near the Line Ferry have been missing sheep, lambs, pigs and even young calves, to say nothing of innumerable chickens, turkeys and geese, and until a few days ago they blamed the Italians and other laborers engaged in grading the State line road with stealing the missing animals. Not a night since early last spring has passed without some farmer waked up in the morning to find that he had been robbed of a fat pig, a young calf, a sheep, two or three choice lambs, or half a dozen of his finest barnyard fowls. Effort was made to catch the thief, but every attempt proved a failure and everybody had about settled down to the belief that the laborers along the railroad were doing the stealing.But the mystery has at last been cleared up to the minds of at least three of the most reputable farmers of the neighborhood. They will not at present allow their names to be made public, and it was only after assuring the correspondent to keep their names out of print that they told him what they knew about this "Monster of Seltzer's Hole", as it is called. They each saw the monster on different occasions, but at about the same hour in the morning, and give about the same description of it."I first saw the monster,' said one of the farmers, "just at daybreak last Tuesday morning. I got up very early to go to Uniontown, and started out to the pasture field to get the horses, and just as I opened the barnyard gate I heard a terrible racket down by the calf pen, which was immediately followed by the stampede of every living object in the barnyard in the direction of the house. The chickens and turkeys flew with loud cries of distress into the trees in the yard and to the roof of the house, and the cattle and pigs crowded around me trembling with fright and uttering pitiful outcries of terror."Something down at the calf pen had given them a terrible fright, but what it was I could not imagine. But I resolved to find out, and pushing my way through the trembling animals I started down to the calf pen. When I got withing twenty yards of the pen the most horrible looking monster the mind could conceive clambered over the strong rail fence that surrounds the calf pen, carrying in its mouth a 3-days-old calf."I tried to turn and fly to the house for protection, but if the monster had been within a foot of me I could not have moved an inch. I tried to cry out, but not a sound escaped my lips. My tongue seemed to be made of lead, and my eyes were fixed on the awful-looking creature that was slowly moving off toward the river, still carrying in its mouth the calf it had stolen."It looked to me to be the size of an Alderney cow, although its legs were very much shorter and its body was somewhat longer. Its back was ridged and humped in the centre, and from behind each shoulder protruded something which was neither a wing, fin, arm nor claw, though it resembled each of them. Its tail was long and thick and resembled that of a crocodile, except that the end was forked, resembling that of a monstrous fish. Its feet were webbed and resembled those of a bear in outline, and were as large as a peck measure. The body was covered with big, heavy scales, which moved as the monster walked."But the head of the dragon was the most fearful looking part of all. It was as large as that of a horse and covered with large warty knots. Directly in the forehead and just below the eyes was a monstrous, jagged, horn-like protuberance, and just back of the ears were two similar-looking horns, though somewhat smaller. The eyes were as large as a teacup and stuck out from their sockets at least an inch and a half. The mouth of the beast I could not see very well, for the struggling calf was in it, but it must have been exceedingly large, for the monstrous jaws reached almost across the calf's body."The monster had traveled at least 100 yards toward the river before I recovered sufficiently to move. I was not asleep, but as wide awake as I ever was in my life. I resolved to follow the monster at a safe distance and see where it went. Rushing into the house I seized by double-barreled shotgun, and without waking the rest of the family I started after the ugly beast and again caught sight of it just as it reached a clump of bushes on the cliff which overhangs the river near Line ferry. It was broad daylight by this time, and with both barrels of my gun cocked I followed in the monster's wake."When I reached the cliff I looked down over it and saw the monster just crossing the road and making for the big rock in the water's edge, alongside Seltzer's Hole. It turned around when it reached the river's bank and glared back at me, and then with something between a growl and bellow leaped into the water and disappeared from sight. I went down to the bank and watched for sight of the monster for over an hour, but as it did not again show itself I went home."I did not tell my folks what I had seen, but simply said that somebody or something had stolen one of the calves during the night. Neither did I say anything about it to any of the neighbors until this morning. I knew they would not believe me, and might start a report that I was going crazy."But this morning, Mr. --- came over to my house and after fidgeting about for an hour or two took me out to the barn and said that he was bound to tell me something. After swearing me to secrecy he told me that the monster that I had seen on Tuesday morning- for it was evidently the same one- had carried off one of his finest sheep this morning and that he had followed it to Seltzer's hole, where it disappeared in the river. Mr. --- and I then went up to Mr. --- and told him what we had seen, and he told us that he had seen it twice last week, but was afraid to tell anyone about it for fear they would not believe him. I can't imagine what kind of animal it can be or how it came to be in Seltzer's Hole.
