‘The BorderLine’ Anniversary Column: Revisiting Biden’s Border by the Numbers One Year Later

Welcome to the 52nd edition of “The BorderLine”! For the past year, every week, I have tried to capture the unprecedented nature of the Biden-Harris administration’s migration ideology, which mostly boils down to letting in millions more foreign nationals at the border than Congress has ever authorized while severely limiting enforcement of immigration laws inside this country. With the patience of my editors at The Daily Signal, I have tried to bring readers a full picture of what is happening, why it’s happening, and what it means to all Americans. This anniversary column is a good time to review some numbers. In “The BorderLine” No. 3, I looked at President Joe Biden’s border policies by the numbers, and it wasn’t a pretty picture. Nearly a  year later, where are we? Let’s start small and work up. 0 – The number of formal press conferences conducted by Vice President Kamala Harris since she became her party’s 2024 candidate for president, according to Fox News. Pew Research polling shows that immigration is the No. 1 issue for Donald Trump supporters—82% consider it a major issue, as do 39% of Harris supporters. There is clearly public interest in what both candidates would do about immigration if elected. 2 – The number of trips Biden and Harris—each—took to the southern border since their term began in 2021. Biden went to Texas in 2023 and 2024. And so-called border czar Harris, who was tasked by Biden to solve the “root causes” of illegal immigration back in 2021, went once in 2021 to meet with local groups who assist illegal immigrants and made a second visit just one week ago. 6.5 – The percentage of the total population of Nicaragua that has been encountered at U.S. borders since Biden took office, according to the chart below. Customs and Border Protection port inspectors and Border Patrol agents combined have also encountered 6% of Cuba’s entire population, almost 10% of Honduras’, and 4% of Haiti’s. Most of them were released at the border and allowed to enter the U.S., but many were allowed to fly into interior U.S. airports under Biden’s invented “parole” schemes. 13,000 – The number of aliens convicted of murder who are still in the United States. White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre attempted to explain how this number is being “falsely represented.” Is it? The Associated Press claims the “numbers have been misconstrued without key context, because the figures span decades,” and some who are not in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody may be detained by state or local law enforcement. Some, perhaps, but not the majority. NEW: KJP says the new ICE report that reveals 13,000 illegals convicted of m*rder have entered the country, has been “fact-checked,” can’t name a single fact check.Doocy: 13,000 people convicted of m*rder have crossed the border illegally and are living among us.KJP: That’s a… pic.twitter.com/HTol2XkqO5— Collin Rugg (@CollinRugg) September 30, 2024 Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s “non-detained docket” consists of all aliens in criminal or immigration proceedings but not actually behind bars. The total docket was under 5 million cases at the end of fiscal year 2022, over 6 million cases a year ago, and is around 7 million now. This chart shows the projected growth of this non-detained population under the Biden-Harris administration. 435,719 – The number of aliens with known criminal convictions who are still in the United States. A year ago, it was 407,983. Note that these are only the convictions in the U.S. For all we know, some or many might have convictions in their home countries or other countries. According to information that ICE gave to Rep, Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, recently, through the end of July, there were 662,556 aliens on the non-detained docket who were either convicted of crimes or facing criminal charges (those who solely committed the crime of illegally crossing the border are not included). Only around 15,000 of them were in ICE custody. Among those roaming free in addition to the murderers were 62,231 individuals with assault charges or convictions and 56,533 with drug charges or convictions. The Department of Homeland Security claims it has deported 180,000 people with criminal convictions since Biden took office, but many of those were simply turned around at the border, not arrested in the interior. The bottom line is that the Biden administration is letting criminal aliens in faster than they are removing them. One reason for this is that ICE was given instructions from Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas that significantly restrict their enforcement efforts. Another is that ICE officers have regularly been pulled off enforcement duties to instead process the unprecedented numbers of aliens trying to get into the U.S.—all to feed what I call the “Mayorkas Migration Machine’s” relentless effort to release into the country as many inadmissible aliens as possible. 525,000 – The rough number of unaccompanied alien children Biden’s DHS has brought in since 2021 (see the chart below). It was 425,000 when I wrote “BorderLine” No. 3 a little less than a year ago. The government has spent billions of your tax dollars bringing them in and providing them with public services. In 2022, OpenTheBooks.com estimated that the Office of Refugee Resettlement was spending $18,000 per child, or almost $3 billion, back then for their initial settlement in the U.S. Scandalously, hundreds of thousands of these minors have been released to people claiming to be their parents or guardians, but with little oversight. DHS hands them over to the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Settlement. They’ve tried to check in with these kids since releasing them but failed to reach 90,000 of the self-proclaimed guardians. That means they’ve lost track of as many kids as there are in the entire Denver, Colorado, school system. And when the government does reach someone, they’re hardly verifying anything—just asking a few basic questions with no verification to make sure it’s true or that the kids are safe. Many children become trafficked for sex or labor. 11 million – The number of illegal alien encounters at the border since Biden and Harris took office. That does not include those who crossed the border illegally but went undetected. A year ago, I wrote that “On Mayorkas’ … watch, we have set the record for the most yearly illegal alien encounters in U.S. history. If those caught in 2023 formed a new city, it would the third biggest in America, behind only New York and Los Angeles.” The number of “encounters” includes the 75,000 or so inadmissible aliens being paroled into the country per month. Of those caught at the border, we don’t know exactly how many were released into the country. In August 2023, The Wall Street Journal estimated that 75% of inadmissible aliens caught at the border entering illegally were let in by DHS. In December 2023, Mayorkas testified that they actually were releasing “over 85%.” Even if you take the lower percentage, when you add to that the over total 2 million “gotaways” who entered without detection during the Biden-Harris administration (compared to a total of 415,000 for 2018, 2019, and 2020 combined during the Trump administration) and another 1.5 million let in by Biden’s parole programs, that could mean up to 9 million inadmissible foreign nationals—known in U.S. immigration law as “aliens”—are now living in the United States. That’s equivalent to the population of some entire countries—Austria, Hungary, or Israel, for example. Of course, that’s just the additions since Biden and Harris took office and doesn’t include the 12-20 million who were here illegally already. It’s hard to imagine what these numbers will look like when it’s time to write “BorderLine” No. 104 a year from now, but only major policy changes can turn the trend away from our continued descent into an unmanageable migration morass. The BorderLine is a weekly Daily Signal feature examining everything from the unprecedented illegal immigration crisis at the border to immigration’s impact on cities and states throughout the land. We will also shed light on other critical border-related issues such as human trafficking, drug smuggling, terrorism, and more. The Cost of a Workforce That Doesn’t Want to Work

Like millions of Americans each year, you order a package, food, or valuables. Delivery day arrives. You open the door. You discover the product was damaged. Or it was stolen. Or it is missing. Why are the mishaps growing by leaps and bounds? Food delivery apps such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub, and mail carriers such as the U.S. Postal Service, UPS, and FedEx, are populated by too-good-for-honest-work kids seeking quick income at jobs they hate. The quality of service plunges accordingly. Additional havoc has been created by an increase in the number of illegal immigrants who flout vehicle registration and traffic laws while delivering food. Last April, three Republican senators sent a letter to Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Grubhub demanding information about the vetting they have in place to prevent migrants from creating driver accounts. This letter was provoked by a New York Post article describing how the influx of migrants into New York City has given birth to a black market for registration with these apps without a federal tax identification number. Specialized task forces have emerged in big cities targeting migrants’ violations of registration laws, speed limits, and related rules of the road in making deliveries. Amazon is similar in employing virtually anyone as a driver to deliver packages through the app Amazon Flex. DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub have shielded themselves from liability for deliveries gone awry through terms of service communicated in miniscule type. DoorDash stipulates that it “has no obligation to provide refunds or credits but may grant them gratuitously at DoorDash’s sole discretion in each case.” Grubhub states: “Grubhub, in its sole discretion, may offer credits or refunds on a case-by-case basis including, by way of example, in the event of an error with your order or in the amounts you were charged.” Credits as compensation is a poor substitute for correct delivery the first time. Packages are the same story as food. If there is a photo of a delivery, even if it’s not on your front door, you’ll still have to jump through hoops to get the package covered by the mail carrier’s insurance if it was lost or stolen. These liability disclaimers would be superfluous if the workforce was properly motivated. Companies worldwide are confronting a young workforce accustomed to indolence and idleness. According to recent studies on the work ethic of Generation Z, approximately 3 in 4 managers believe it is less than suboptimal. An independent survey found that, according to a sample of 1,300 managers, at least 1 in 8 had terminated a Gen Z employee after less than a week on the job. Gen Z employees are rapidly being replaced by mature workers and migrants hungry for work at substandard wages and conditions. The secret of wealth is human capital. And the secret of human capital is a work ethic that scorns sponging. We are losing the economic race with China because our human capital is diminishing. Escalating tariffs that spike prices for consumers is not the answer. COPYRIGHT 2024 CREATORS.COM We publish a variety of perspectives. Curbing Global Censorship: House Republicans Take Aim at US-Funded Speech Crackdowns Abroad

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. A new bill introduced by House Republicans, the No Funding or Enforcement of Censorship Abroad Act (HR 9850), aims to prevent the US government from bankrolling censorship in other countries of content that is legal under US laws. Chris Smith, Jim Jordan, and Maria Elvira Salazar are behind this draft that they say would protect and promote American values abroad – and those include free speech. The bill’s authors hope to stop the use of foreign assistance funds to support censorship abroad, as well as US law enforcement from cooperating with authorities abroad conducting such policies. We obtained a copy of the bill for you here. The bill specifically singles out Brazil, and Justice Alexandre de Moraes, as an example of censorship under the guise of combating “misinformation,” protecting “election integrity,” etc. It also speaks of US involvement in Brazil’s ongoing suppression of free speech. The draft mentions 2018 as the year FBI and US Department of Justice agents met with representatives of Brazil’s election court, headed at that time by Moraes, to discuss “efforts by the United States Department of Justice and the FBI to fight ‘fake news’ and ‘protect the integrity of elections’.” The bill also states that a number NGOs produced censorship recommendations to Moraes, which he implemented. Among them was the Digital Forensic Research Lab (DFRLab), funded by the State Department’s Agency for International Development (USAID). In order to “counter disinformation abroad” – in Brazil and several other countries, the George Washington University then in 2022 received a $200,000 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF), which was supported by the US Congress. In 2023, the USAID-funded Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening (CEPPS) “formed a key partnership with the (Brazil) Superior Electoral Court (TSE) and worked together to discuss censorship strategies,” the bill states. Other than suppressing a number of opposition figures, journalists, and opponents of the current government at home, Moraes then went after US social platforms X and Rumble in a much-publicized series of events that started in early 2024. But, the bill’s authors point out, the Biden-Harris White House did next to nothing to protect these companies. “The Biden-Harris Administration has weaponized US foreign assistance programs and other means to promote censorship in Brazil and crack down on free speech that would be protected under our US Constitution here at home” – this is how the chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s Global Human Rights Subcommittee Chris Smith summed up the situation and the reason to pass the bill and prevent this type of behavior going forward. Censorship Allegations Resurface as New Demonetization Coalition Takes Shape

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. A new organization has emerged, seemingly as a successor to the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM), which disbanded in early August under a cloud of controversy and accusations of corporate censorship, according to a new letter. This new entity dubbed the “Dentsu Coalition,” was formed by Dentsu, a major Japanese PR firm and original GARM member, alongside The 614 Group, a prominent ad consulting firm. Their stated mission is to bolster “credible news” and foster a thriving journalistic environment through the collective effort of leading advertising industry figures. However, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, expressed concerns in a letter sent to Dentsu Americas CEO Michael Komasinski that the Dentsu Coalition might be walking a path similar to its predecessor. Jordan highlighted that GARM, during its operation, engaged in practices that appeared to suppress certain media voices by guiding major advertisers on which news sources were deemed “credible,” with a noticeable bias favoring left-leaning media. He noted that these practices could potentially violate the Sherman Act by unlawfully restraining trade under the guise of social justice. We obtained a copy of the letter for you here. The inquiry has unearthed internal communications among GARM members, showing that prominent advertising firm GroupM placed The Daily Wire on a “Global High Risk exclusion list,” labeling it as prone to “Conspiracy Theories,” according to a GroupM executive. This stance on conservative media was mirrored in another email by a different GroupM executive, who drew parallels with Breitbart, discussing the use of “misinformation” rules as a veiled method for ideological censorship. Furthermore, Jordan’s letter points out that the anti-competitive nature of these initiatives has tangible effects, as articulated by News Corp. CEO Robert Thomson. Thomson decried the coordinated boycotts that starved certain media platforms of essential advertising revenue, describing the damage as significant and real. The scrutiny extends beyond the actions of advertising groups, with ongoing lawsuits against the State Department by The Daily Wire and The Federalist. These legal actions claim that government-backed entities like Newsguard and the Global Disinformation Index deliberately targeted conservative outlets, causing financial harm. Meanwhile, Dentsu has assured that it will soon respond to the Committee’s demand for documentation concerning its takeover of GARM-related activities, although they have refrained from commenting further at this stage. Kevin Sorbo Schools Whoopi: I’m Proof of New Hollywood Blacklist

Whoopi Goldberg attempted to fact check “Chuck” alum Zachary Levi on “The View” this week. Let’s hope the “Sister Act” alum doesn’t give up her day job. Levi, speaking at a Reclaim America event in Michigan, said coming out as a Donald Trump supporter could be “career suicide.” Goldberg used her “View” perch to allegedly set him straight. “From the beginning of Hollywood, it’s always been a very right-leaning town, but I know you don’t know much about the Hollywood history, so let me school you… “We are, like America is, we’re a mixed bunch. And sometime it may seem like there’s more Democrats and sometimes it seems like there’s more Republicans. But the truth of the matter is, very few people seem to bite it because they’re Republican.” Levi’s claim, she said, is “more b.s.” The media ran with Goldberg’s framing, suggesting she had “schooled” Levi on the subject. Kevin Sorbo would like a word with Goldberg. “Of course being conservative in Hollywood and openly talking about it can get you blacklisted. I am a perfect example of that. My manager and agent said my politics and posts on social media put me at the back of the bus with studios,” Sorbo exclusively told HiT. Sorbo didn’t quit acting after the industry cast him aside. He formed SorboStudios.com and began making faith-friendly, uplifting movies on his terms. Think “Let There Be Light” and “Miracle in East Texas.”     Sorbo says he’s far from alone. “Every movie I have shot over the last 7 years I get at least one person, be it an actor or someone behind the camera, telling me they are thankful for me being a voice for them [as a conservative]. I tell them to be their own voice, but they fear what happened to me will happen to them.” Sorbo’s punishment for having the “wrong” political views extends beyond Hollywood, he says. “I am even banned from Comic Cons now from the people who run them openly telling my agent they don’t like my politics. They scream for socialism yet make their money in a capitalist business. You gotta love their hypocrisy,” he said. The extensive proof of the new Hollywood Blacklist shreds Goldberg’s assessment. Yes, a few actors have kept working despite being openly conservative. Think of older, established stars like Jon Voight, Tim Allen and Kelsey Grammar. Many others keep their views to themselves for fear of retribution. They once met in secret under the Friends of Abe banner. Attendees would break down in tears, according to two sources who spoke to HiT, while describing the industry backlash they faced for leaning Right. It’s an open secret in Hollywood media circles. The Hollywood Reporter just suggested liberal actress Cheryl Hines could be “shunned” by Hollywood. Why? She supports her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who now supports Trump. Media outlets know, on some level, that being an openly conservative actor can hurt one’s career. Or, in the case of Oscar-nominee James Woods, essentially end it. He hasn’t had a major role since 2014’s “Jamesy Boy.” Woods even agreed to hide his connection to “Oppenheimer” (he co-produced the film) to protect the film’s Oscar chances. Goldberg is either lying or ignorant of Hollywood in the 21st century. What’s the corporate media’s excuse?

'People need help': Cory Mills helps locals with Hurricane Helene relief efforts in North Carolina

SWANNANOA, N.C. — The site right outside of Asheville being used by military veterans and volunteers to distribute supplies and dispatch rescue teams used to be a Harley-Davidson dealer. Though the inside of the store is damaged from the historic flooding from Hurricane Helene, that has not stopped the effort to help people farther up the mountains. The Harley-Davidson store is a prime location to be a supply hub, with the owner's permission. Not only is the parking lot big enough to store supplies, but there is a field next to it that is big enough to serve as an impromptu airport for the helicopters constantly flying in and out. The dealership has the feeling of a forward operating base, with so many veterans organizing communications, supply deliveries, and personnel allocation while being armed. Blaze Media got a firsthand look at how people are working together to help the western part of the state as the federal response has been, at best, extremely slow. Congressman Cory Mills (R-Fla.) has been on the ground for the past week in collaboration with Mercury One, a nonprofit started by Blaze co-founder Glenn Beck for disaster response. An Army veteran, Mills has made it a personal mission to help U.S. citizens when it seems the federal government that he is a part of is not doing enough, he says. This is why he helped organized rescue operations for U.S. citizens in Afghanistan, Haiti, and Israel."It's simple: People need help. People's lives matter. I could be sitting on a beach right now, but helping people is more important," Mills said while on a supply flight from Florida. What makes the disaster response to Hurricane Helene victims in western North Carolina difficult is how entire communities have been cut off by washed-out roads, making them only accessible by air or hours-long treks on foot or pack animal. This is why there were problems when President Joe Biden visited the region on Wednesday, and a no-fly zone with a 30-mile radius was implemented. Supply runs and rescue operations were put on hold for hours until the restriction was finally lifted. Biden had previously promised his visit would not disrupt missions.'This is going to go on for months. This is going to go on for a long time.'Mills called the visit "irresponsible" at a moment when time is of the essence for places that have been isolated for days. The helicopter flight Blaze Media was on with Mills had finished a supply run to Elk River Airport before the no-fly zone was put in place, and we sat on the tarmac for two hours. — (@) Locals and volunteers who have been conducting their own relief operations had similarly expressed frustrations with the Federal Emergency Management Agency because now after arriving in force days since the storm has passed, its bureaucracy is now getting in the way. — (@) While cities like Asheville have been stabilized, the pressing concern is for people up in the mountains who have no power with fall and winter approaching. In Pensacola, North Carolina, officials are now mainly asking for generators, fuel, portable stoves, and tools to fix the roads themselves."This is going to go on for months. This is going to go on for a long time," Pensacola's medical officer Mark Harrison told Blaze Media regarding the town's recovery. The last supply drop to Pensacola on Thursday included a generator, chainsaws, oil for the chainsaws, and fuel.On Friday, Mills announced the new shipment from Florida that will be arriving to North Carolina includes over 60 generators.Like Blaze News? Arizona registered 218,000 voters without citizenship proof — and now it's withholding the list, lawsuit claims

Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes and his office are facing a lawsuit over a major voter registration scandal. On behalf of the Strong Communities Foundation of Arizona, America First Legal filed the complaint, claiming that Fontes and his office are "illegally withholding a list from the public of over 218,000 individuals who registered to vote without providing proof of citizenship as required by law."AFL filed a public records request asking the secretary of state to turn over the list of individuals. According to AFL, that request was rejected."Rather than treating constituents with respect and decorum, their response was a bombastic tirade that invoked a bizarre conspiracy theory accusing EZAZ.org [Strong Communities Foundation of Arizona] of secretly planning to harass the voters on the list," AFL wrote in a press release announcing the lawsuit. "There is, of course, no evidence to support Secretary Fontes's conspiracy theory, and EZAZ.org has no intention of harassing anyone. Secretary Fontes also feebly claimed that compiling the list would be too hard for his staff. None of these excuses hold water. Fontes's staff has already compiled the list–that's how they know the number of affected voters. And there is no risk that these voters will be harassed–EZAZ.org's mission is all about protecting voters."Additionally, AFL accused the secretary of State of refusing to share the list with county recorders, thereby "making it impossible for them to check whether these individuals are citizens.""Secretary Fontes's refusal is puzzling because Arizona law requires county recorders to do monthly investigations on every registered voter who has failed to provide citizenship until the individual's citizenship has been confirmed or disconfirmed," AFL added.Elon Musk responded to the AFL's announcement, warning Arizona residents that they will face disenfranchisement."Citizens of Arizona, this election is your last chance before you're disenfranchised," he wrote in a post on X.What's the background? In mid-September, Maricopa County recorder Stephen Richer announced that Arizona officials had recently discovered a decade-old "flaw" impacting every county in the state that allowed 97,000 Arizonans to register to vote without providing proof of citizenship, Blaze News previously reported.Richer explained that since 1996, Arizona has required driver's license applicants to provide proof of citizenship, and since 2004, the state has required proof of citizenship to vote a full ballot — both federal and local. He noted that the "vast majority" of voter applicants have provided proof of citizenship since 2004."Unfortunately, the way the system was designed allowed for one group of voters through the cracks," Richer remarked. That group included Arizona residents who obtained a driver's license before 1996 and, therefore, did not submit proof of citizenship and later requested a renewal or replacement license. "If a driver received a license prior to 1996, he did not have a documented proof of citizenship on file. But then, if he got a duplicate license (e.g. in the case of losing a license), the issuance date would be updated in the statewide voter registration's interface with MVD," Richer stated."Then, if that person went to register, when the counties went to confirm if the person has documented proof of citizenship, the interface between the statewide voter registration system and MVD would yield a date after 1996 and therefore say that the voter had documented proof of citizenship on file with the MVD," he added. "This flaw has existed since 2004. In every county. Across the state."Richer filed a lawsuit against the Secretary of State's Office to determine whether the impacted individuals should be allowed to vote in the upcoming local elections."It is my position that these registrants have not satisfied Arizona's documented proof of citizenship law," he wrote on X, "and therefore can only vote a 'FED ONLY' ballot.""The Secretary argues that it is too close to the election to implement such a change and that it would be unduly burdensome on voters and deprive them of their voting rights," he continued. "That is why we are going to the courts. To get a clear answer."On September 20, the Arizona Supreme Court unanimously decided to allow the impacted residents to vote a full ballot, Blaze News previously reported. However, as the days passed, the Secretary of State's Office discovered additional registered voters without proof of citizenship who had slipped through the cracks. On September 30, the Secretary of State's Office issued a press release stating that the previously reported 97,000 impacted voters was closer to approximately 218,000. It noted that the court's decision still stands."This data set includes approximately 79,000 Republicans, 61,000 Democrats, and 76,000 Other Party (OTH), bringing the total of impacted individuals to approximately 218,000," the office said. The Secretary of State's Office did not respond to a request for comment from Blaze News.Like Blaze News? Canadian university shuts down campus for Oct 7 to deter anti-Israel protests: 'Absolute cowardice'

McGill University is shutting down its campus in Montreal, Quebec, in an attempt to diffuse plans for protests by anti-Israel activists, but Jewish groups are calling the decision cowardly. Pro-Palestinian activists have disrupted operations at the university so much that classes will be canceled on Oct. 7, the anniversary of the terror attack on Israel by Hamas militants. 'Every other day there's some kind of tension going on. There's a hostile situation being created.' In a statement on Wednesday, university officials said classes that were unnecessarily in person should be conducted online and the campus would be shut to people other than students, faculty, and other employees. During this period of heightened tensions and of mourning, events are being organized that call for significant numbers of people from outside the McGill community to gather on or around campus. In recent months, the University has seen many peaceful protests and commemorations. We’ve unfortunately also seen incidents on campus that have crossed the bounds of the law and McGill’s policies, upsetting people, disrupting access to our learning and work spaces, and damaging property. The statement went on to say that there was no known threat to students at the time. "We are limiting access to the campus during this week to prioritize the stable continuation of critical academic activities at a time of elevated potential for disruption," officials said. Video from Monday showed anti-Israel protesters ripping up new grass installed on the campus lawn after an encampment destroyed much of the grass from earlier protests. Some students say they don't feel safe at the campus while Jewish groups criticized the university for what they saw as a cowardly decision. "Every other day there's some kind of tension going on. There's a hostile situation being created. So, yeah, not not the best feeling," one student told CTV News. "This is precisely what appeasement of these domestic terror clubs looks like," responded Jewish activist Eyal Yakoby on social media. "I would judge that as absolute cowardice, absolute cowardice," replied Henry Topas of B'nai B'rith Canada. "McGill and Concordia and the City of Montreal, starting with Valerie Plante, should be out there saying we will not stand glorifying hate, antisemitism and the atrocities which were committed a year ago."Said Hanan Zakari, an anti-Israel protester, also condemned the university decision. "I think our demand to the university is very clear. I think, by closing the campus, McGill is insisting on deploying its private mercenaries like they have done to students throughout the summer, and that the university itself is creating a campus of fear," said Zakari. "On Oct. 7, we'll see demonstrations all over the world and not just in North America. It symbolizes a very important day for a colonized people everywhere," he added. A CBC News report on YouTube documented some of the protests at McGill University. Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox.
