Dad Travels Through Mud and Debris to Walk His Daughter Down the Aisle

David Jones travels almost 30 miles through mud and debris after Hurricane Helene to walk his daughter down the aisle. Coming from Boiling Springs, SC, the trip to his daughter’s wedding in Johnson City, TN, should have only taken two hours. However, it took much longer than that for David, including walking 5.5 hours on foot. RELATED: She Just Met Her Vietnam Veteran Father After 50 Years, Now He is Walking Her Down the Aisle David Jones Believe With God, Anything is Possible The 64-year-old told USA TODAY, “I think every dad would do everything they could to get to their daughter’s wedding. Like the scripture says, ‘With God, anything is possible.’ I think this was a prime example of that.” And yes, it was. Deciding to leave your car and walk the rest of the way to your daughter’s wedding is quite the brave thing to do. He had to believe God would get him where he needed to go. Because of the hurricane, millions were without power, extreme flooding occurred, and roads and bridges were washed out and closed. David originally planned to drive with his wife and her mother on Friday, the day before the wedding, but he ended up heading out alone. “I had no cell phone service, no internet or anything like that, so I had no idea the extent of the devastation that laid ahead,” he said. RELATED: Bride Inspires All by Finally Walking Down the Aisle After Crash Left Her Partially Paralyzed David Was Diverted By Hours of Traffic As David started driving out of South Carolina, he was diverted by hours of traffic and encountered detours. “At one point, it took me three hours to go 10 miles,” he said. Once he got to the state line at 2 a.m. on Saturday, the exit he needed was blocked because the bridge was completely washed out. With around nine hours until the wedding, David Jones decided to get as close to Johnson City as possible. He even planned to Facetime and walk his daughter down the aisle virtually if need be. He left his car at the exit on Interstate 26 and started traveling on foot toward the washed-out bridge. “I grabbed my backpack, threw in my shaving kit and a couple days of socks and underwear, grabbed my windbreaker and off I went,” David said. After he had walked 3-4 miles, he started to encounter washed-out roads and debris from farms, fences, and huge trees. He Traveled 30 Miles And Made It To the Wedding In Time David got through that area and back on the interstate. However, the next bridge he needed to cross was “completely wiped out.” The only other option was to take the bridge in Erwin, which he was able to do. After he went over the bridge, a trooper gave him a ride to Erwin’s town hall, and he started walking again from there. He was eventually picked up by a former coworker who gave him a ride the rest of the way, and he made it to Johnson City in time to shower and get ready for the wedding. After traveling almost 30 miles, he made it in time to walk his daughter down the aisle. He didn’t tell his daughter about his adventure before the wedding so that she wouldn’t be thinking about it during the ceremony. He did bring out the red reflector he had used on his travels during his reception speech. “I presented (the reflector) to them and said, ‘I want this to be a remembrance for you, and whenever you see it, to remember that you need to protect each other in life, especially in your darkest moments as this reflector did for me. That’s when you need it the most,'” David recalled. The Bride Praises God That Her Dad Made It David’s daughter was so thankful that he could walk her down the aisle. “My dad loves me that much that he would come through all of that to get to my wedding,” she said. “I woke up at 4:30 this morning and just wide awake, just spent that whole morning praising God that my dad made it and that my dad’s alive.” The bride will never forget how her dad traveled 30 miles through the treacherous ground to attend her wedding. We are glad he made it safely and got to experience that special moment with his daughter. Doug Emhoff Accused Of Assaulting Former Girlfriend

Doug Emhoff, Kamala Harris’ husband, faces accusations of assaulting his ex-girlfriend for flirting with another man at a gala in 2012. He allegedly “struck the woman in the face so hard she spun around, while waiting in a valet line late at night after a May 2012 Cannes Film Festival event in France,” Daily Mail reports. Doug Emhoff accused of ‘forcefully slapping’ NYC girlfriend for flirting with another man at ritzy gala in 2012: report https://t.co/l2AUp1svQE pic.twitter.com/5LNXlmWJzu — New York Post (@nypost) October 2, 2024 Daily Mail did not name the woman, a New York attorney, and referred to her as ‘Jane.’ Per Daily Mail: A second friend said Jane, who had been dating Emhoff for three months, also told her about the alleged violence at the time. A third friend told DailyMail.com that Jane first told her in 2014 that she had dated Emhoff, and recounted the full story of his alleged abuse in 2018, when then senator Harris was in the news after grilling Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in a Senate hearing over sexual assault allegations. The friends, who all asked not to be named for fear of retaliation by Emhoff, shared with DailyMail.com pictures of him and Jane together from 2012, and other documents and communications corroborating elements of the story. Jane declined to comment. The shocking claims follow revelations by DailyMail.com that Emhoff cheated on his first wife and mother of his two kids around 2008, allegedly impregnating his daughter’s nanny who also worked as her grade school teacher. Emhoff admitted the affair with the nanny and teacher, Najen Naylor, after DailyMail.com published the story last month. So Kamala’s husband got his nanny pregnant to end his first marriage and slapped another girlfriend? Seems like not a good dude: https://t.co/6LhLOydrvV — Clay Travis (@ClayTravis) October 2, 2024 This is a horrifying story. I will say that it matches with something I recently learned from two California individuals who know Emhoff fairly well and said his reputation for poor treatment of women was notorious in their circles. https://t.co/0UBAcs6j6d — Mollie (@MZHemingway) October 2, 2024 From the New York Post: On Sunday, the Second Gentleman made headlines for his interview with Jen Psaki in which the former White House Press Secretary credited him with reshaping “the perception of masculinity.” “To me, it’s the right thing to do,” Emhoff said of his role as a supportive spouse. But the three friends who spoke to the Daily Mail provided photos of Emhoff posing with the woman he allegedly slapped in 2012, as well as other documents corroborating the trip they took to the south of France around the time of the alleged incident. The woman declined to comment on the story, the outlet said. The Harris campaign did not respond to a request for comment Wednesday. The alleged incident came just a year before Emhoff, a successful entertainment lawyer, and Harris met on a blind date. The Vice President, then California’s attorney general, started dating Emhoff in 2013, and then married him in August 2014. After the alleged slap, the New York lawyer – who was not identified — called one of the friends, a male businessman, sobbing in her cab immediately after the incident, the outlet said.
