Virginia School District Refuses to Give Public Records to Teacher It Opposed in Election

A public school teacher in Fairfax County is suing her school district for withholding public records mentioning her name. Julie Perry, a history teacher at Centreville High School in Northern Virginia, filed a Freedom of Information Act request on May 29 for emails from Assistant Superintendent Penny Gros because she felt like her job was threatened after a controversial tweet about the transgender community targeting autistic kids. The district produced only one document, but Perry knew something was missing. Nine months earlier, Daily Wire reporter Luke Rosiak had submitted a request for documents containing Perry’s name. Rosiak received 14 documents mentioning Perry, thirteen of which were withheld from Perry’s request. Now, Perry is suing the district demanding it hand over all documents related to her FOIA request, pay a civil penalty, and pay Perry’s legal fees. Attorney Hayden Fisher is representing Perry and told The Daily Signal he plans to file another lawsuit soon on behalf of Fairfax County mom who also says the district withheld documents from her FOIA request and overcharged her. Perry told The Daily Signal she feels called to speak up for civil liberties and stand up for kids. “I want people to see that not every teacher is radical left,” Perry said. “I want people to see that there are teachers that are so tired of what’s going on in schools and are not happy about it, and I realize either I speak up or nobody else is going to do it.” Fairfax County said it has not yet been served with Perry’s lawsuit. Fisher filed the lawsuit on Saturday and sent the district a copy of it on Sunday. “FCPS has not been served with the lawsuit and so we cannot comment on a lawsuit we have not received and reviewed,” media outreach specialist Steven Brasley told The Daily Signal. Brasley did not answer The Daily Signal’s question about if the district purposefully withheld documents from Perry. This is not the first time Fairfax County has targeted Perry for her conservative viewpoint. When Perry ran for state Senate, her opponent, Democrat Stella Pekarsky, was involved in discussions about whether to punish Perry for the social media post about transgenderism and autistic kids, the Daily Wire reported. A donor for Pekarsky sent Perry’s high school principal a complaint about her posts, public records show. The principal forwarded the complaint to Gros, who said she would seek guidance about what to do. The records show Gros seems to have sought the guidance from Pekarsky. Perry then received a memo threatening her job. “As an FCPS employee, your posts—whether personal or professional—reflect not only upon you but also upon the school division,” the memo said. “The content of your posts should not impair your capacity to maintain the respect of students and parents, nor impair your ability to effectively perform your job. Any action that brings the school system into disrepute may be just cause for dismissal.” Perry’s tweet, which garnered complaints from fellow staff members, discussed the pattern she has seen in her classes of autistic kids identifying at transgender. “The far-left uses the literal mentality of children with Autism to abuse them in this manner,” the May 6 post on X said. “This is why children with Autism need greater protection.” Vanessa Hall, co-director of Fairfax County’s LGBT Pride club, sent an email to Perry’s principal complaining about the post, which was obtained through Rosiaks’ FOIA request and shared with The Daily Signal. “I need to be clear that I have refrained from contacting you about her numerous social media posts that are homophobic, transphobic, and deeply hurtful to the entire community,” Hall said. “She demonizes so many in the community based on their identity whether it be social, racial, gender, political, or religious identity. I find it upsetting, but I believe firmly in free speech no matter how much I may dislike it.” “However, these tweets below show that she is using students for her political gain,” Hall’s complaint continued. “She has crossed a serious ethical line if she is willing to release personal information about her students to the public on social media in direct violation of school policy and parental rights.” “Part of the reason the Left acts the way they act is because nobody stands up, nobody forces them to face consequences,” Perry told The Daily Signal. “That’s why people need to face consequences when they break the law, and so that’s what I’ve learned,” the teacher continued. “I always give this to God, and I’ve always learned, as long as I’m doing the right thing, God will always provide.” The post Virginia School District Refuses to Give Public Records to Teacher It Opposed in Election appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Secret Service chief dodges question on why agents failed to check golf club perimeter where assassin hid

Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe did not directly answer when asked why agents did not check the spot along Trump International Golf Club that was used by an attempted assassin despite that spot being a known security vulnerability for years.Rowe was giving an update on Friday about the Secret Service's failures from the first attempt on former President Donald Trump's life during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July. Many of the questions Rowe was asked were about the second assassination attempt in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday.'The bottom line is the individual was detected.'"The busy public road that is adjacent to that sixth hole where the suspect was hiding, is a well-known blind spot on that specific golf course. Why did no one within the U.S. Secret Service sweep behind that fence line for threats?" a reporter asked Rowe."They were sweeping ahead. ... So what I just explained is that that element, that lead element was going ahead sweeping," Rowe replied."But was there anyone behind the fence where the road was sweeping there to see if anyone was in the bushes?" the reporter pressed Rowe."Having been there and seen the vantage, whether they were on the public side or the private side, the bottom line is the individual was detected," Rowe said.According to the reports, the only reason the lead element of Trump's detail was able to spot Ryan Routh, the would-be shooter, was because Routh stuck the barrel of the rifle he was using through the fence and out of the shrubbery. If Routh did not do so, the agents would have had a much harder time spotting him because of the bushes.Rowe has come under more scrutiny following Sunday's major security breach as it is the second time someone has tried to kill Trump within two months, especially since the second time happened under his watch.Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) revealed on Thursday the federal law enforcement agencies investigating the West Palm Beach incident are not cooperating with his state agencies, who are also looking into the matter."No, they are not being cooperative; yes, I am concerned. For example ... our investigators were rebuffed just going to the fence line outside of Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. I think they've taken the position they don't want the state of Florida to be involved in this. But here's the thing, there were multiple violations of Florida law," DeSantis said. - YouTube www.youtube.com Like Blaze News? Amazon posts job for nuclear engineer as tech giants turn to nuclear energy to power data centers

Amazon Web Services hopes to find a principal nuclear engineer to help with data center power solutions. After purchasing a data center campus in Pennsylvania in March, Amazon is looking for an engineer to handle "small modular nuclear power plants" and build "internal and external nuclear product and fuel strategy road maps."The job listing also mentions working with external partners to influence the design of "efficient and safe" modular power plants and deliver carbon-free power generation solutions. This could mean that Amazon may be looking to develop its own reactors for commercial sale.As reported by Data Center Dynamics, Amazon spent $650 million to acquire Talen Energy's campus next to the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania.'This is how crazy it's getting.'AWS will develop 15 data centers at the location as part of a 1,600-acre rezoning projection. As Amazon looks to prop up its data centers for the ever-growing needs of artificial intelligence operations, it joins other monumental contracts from companies looking to directly source power with nuclear energy. The energy source, which has acted as a bogeyman for green energy activists, has suddenly become fashionable for multinational corporations in 2024.Major purchases have started a snowball effect for the private sector, which will sadly have no effect on lowering energy costs for the common homeowner if the power plants exist solely for the companies' consumption. This is the case for Microsoft's latest 20-year, 835-megawatt deal with Constellation Energy, which will reactivate a reactor at the infamous Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania.Coming online in 2028, Constellation will spend a reported $1.6 billion to open the figurative doors while hoping to keep the plant running until 2054. Other deals include internet connectivity and data company Equinix signing a 500-megawatt agreement with Oklo in April. Oklo also agreed to build a small modular reactor for data company Prometheus Hyperscale in May, providing 100 megawatts. The nuclear fission startup plans to open microreactors, but the locations are not known yet. It is also working with Diamondback Energy in Texas. At the same time, Constellation obtained rezoning approval in Illinois in August for 524 acres near the Byron nuclear power plant. The company has since struck a deal to power 54 local business offices.Lastly, computer technology company Oracle announced in early September that it would be building a 1-gigawatt data center campus powered by three small modular reactors. "These are the small modular nuclear reactors — to power the data center," founder Larry Ellison said. "This is how crazy it's getting."Like Blaze News? Oklahoma removes 450,000 from voter rolls as part of election integrity efforts

Oklahoma removes 450,000 from voter rolls as part of election integrity efforts

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt (R) announced Wednesday that the state has removed nearly half a million ineligible voters from its voter registration list.According to the state, since 2021, 453,000 individuals — including 194,962 inactive voters, 143,682 who moved out-of-state, 97,065 deceased voters, 14,993 with duplicate registrations, and 5,607 felons — have been purged from its rolls. 'Only U.S. citizens who are residents of Oklahoma may register to vote in our state.'The update was provided by the governor and state election officials as a part of their "ongoing efforts to maintain Oklahoma's status as a national leader in election integrity," according to a recent press release that noted "routine voter list maintenance" is required by law.Stitt stated, "Voting is our most sacred duty as Americans— and every Oklahoman wants to know their vote is securely cast and properly counted.""The State Election Board and the Secretary of State's office continue to go above and beyond in their responsibility to ensure only eligible Oklahomans can vote in our elections. Their progress reassures me we will continue to lead the nation in election integrity efforts," the governor added.Secretary of State Josh Cockroft said that the collaborative efforts between the governor's office, the State Election Board, and lawmakers have ensured that "Oklahoma has fortified our electoral process.""We've aggressively pursued policies to ensure voting is secure and accurate, and we're innovating to protect our elections from emerging technology like AI. In Oklahoma, every eligible citizen will have their vote counted and their voice heard," Cockroft stated. In a recent post on X, Stitt wrote, "You may have heard about 'ballot harvesting' in other states. That doesn't happen in Oklahoma.""Only U.S. citizens who are residents of Oklahoma may register to vote in our state," he continued. "And Oklahoma state law explicitly prohibits non-citizens from accessing voter registration services."Last month, Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) made a similar announcement, noting that his state had removed more than one million ineligible voters from its rolls since 2021, Blaze News reported. Abbott attributed that sweeping clean-up to Senate Bill 1, which created uniform voting hours across Texas and banned drive-through voting and unsolicited applications for mail-in ballots.Abbott called SB 1 the "strongest election laws in the nation to protect the right to vote and to crack down on illegal voting.""These reforms have led to the removal of over one million ineligible people from our voter rolls in the last three years, including noncitizens, deceased voters, and people who moved to another state," Abbott remarked.According to the governor's office, more than 6,500 of the one million individuals removed from the voter rolls were noncitizens. Additionally, 1,930 of them have reportedly previously voted in an election. Those instances of noncitizens voting were referred to the Attorney General's Office for an investigation.Like Blaze News? Pentagon leaders prioritized 'optics' over saving lives on Jan. 6, new US House report claims

Former President Donald J. Trump’s orders to keep Jan. 6 protests in Washington, D.C., safe were ignored by the same top Pentagon leaders who slow-walked the U.S. Capitol Police chief’s urgent advance and same-day calls for help from the National Guard, according to new transcripts released by a U.S. House subcommittee. Friday’s release of a tranche of documents related to Jan. 6 backs up an extensive account of the National Guard failure published Sept. 19 by Blaze News. There are dozens of transcripts given by individuals to the Jan. 6 Select Committee, the DOD Inspector General, and the House Committee on Administration Subcommittee on Oversight. They describe conversations that took place at the White House, the Pentagon, the Capitol Police Command Center, and other venues on Jan. 6. “Pentagon leadership prioritized concerns of optics over their duty to protect lives,” said Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.), chairman of the Committee on House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight. “President Trump met with senior Pentagon leaders and directed them to make sure any events on January 6, 2021, were safe,” Loudermilk said in a statement. “It is very concerning that these senior Pentagon officials ignored President Trump’s guidance and misled congressional leaders to believe they were doing their job, when they were not.” The transcripts strike at the heart of the false stories originating with the now-defunct Jan. 6 Select Committee that claimed President Trump did nothing to enable National Guard coverage at the Capitol and prevent violence on Jan. 6. They are also an indictment of the Department of Defense Inspector General's report on Jan. 6, which senior leaders of the D.C. National Guard have said was full of errors and fabrications. “The DOD IG’s report is fundamentally flawed,” Loudermilk said. “It does not draw conclusions from the interviews they conducted but pushes a narrative to keep their hands clean. We have many questions for them, and we will continue to dig until we are satisfied the American people know the truth.” It is the second major disclosure on Jan. 6 and the National Guard by the Subcommittee on Oversight since an April public hearing, when four D.C. National Guard whistleblowers testified that the truth of Jan. 6 was being hidden and twisted by senior Pentagon leaders. It backs up earlier testimony given before multiple congressional committees over two years by Capitol Police Chief Steven A. Sund. Sund has said the rioting and vandalism that broke out at the Capitol on Jan. 6 would have been avoided entirely if the House and Senate sergeants at arms had not blocked his Jan. 3 request for National Guard presence at the Capitol on Jan. 6. Former House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving told the late Senate Sergeant at Arms Michael Stenger that they needed to head off Sund's request for the Guard because House Speaker Nancy Pelosi “will never go for it.” Casey Wardynski, former assistant secretary of the Army for manpower and Reserve affairs, said the transcripts are consistent with his recollections from Jan. 6. Wardynski participated in a video conference between D.C. National Guard officials and senior Pentagon leaders including Gen. Charles Flynn and Lt. Gen. Walter Piatt. “It fits with the picture I had on January 6, which was people in the Pentagon were mostly concerned with themselves or their organization, rather than the United States,” Wardynski told Blaze News. “And if they'd only put the United States first, things would have gone much better.” The D.C. National Guard's commander, Maj. Gen. William Walker, had extraordinary restrictions placed on his troops by then-Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy, whose disappearing act on Jan. 6 left Guardsmen sitting on buses blocks from the Capitol, unable to move, Loudermilk said. Walker “tried to call Secretary McCarthy three times between 2:30 and 5 p.m.,” said D.C. National Guard Brig. Gen. Aaron Dean. “He said, ‘I haven’t heard from him all day.’ When he tried to call his cell phone, it went straight to voicemail.” — (@) According to the new transcripts, acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller was among senior Pentagon uniformed staff who — at least initially — opposed sending the National Guard to the Capitol. “There was absolutely – there is absolutely no way I was putting U.S. military forces at the Capitol, period,” Miller said in one transcript. That sentiment flew directly in the face of direction given by President Trump at a Jan. 3 meeting at the White House. Gen. Mark Milley, then chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, recalled the conversation this way: “The President just says, ‘Hey, look at this. There’s going to be a large amount of protesters here on the 6th, make sure that you have sufficient National Guard or soldiers to make sure it’s a safe event,’” Milley said. “[POTUS said], ‘I don’t care if you use Guard, or soldiers, active-duty soldiers, do whatever you have to do. Just make sure it’s safe.'” President Trump's statements, quoted by one of his loudest military critics, blow a new hole in the insurrection narrative pushed relentlessly by the former Jan. 6 Select Committee and congressional Democrats. Trump's second impeachment by the House and later prosecution by the Department of Justice were underpinned by the narrative that he led an insurrection to keep Joe Biden from taking office on Jan. 20, 2021. 'Their desire was not to get to the truth.' Miller approved the use of the D.C. National Guard and ordered McCarthy to move troops to the Capitol at 3:04 p.m., but the order from McCarthy to Maj. Gen. Walker wasn't transmitted until 5:08 p.m. By the time Guard members put boots on the ground at the Capitol, it was too late. Miller testified that McCarthy had all the authority that he needed to dispatch the National Guard at 3:04 p.m., but McCarthy felt he needed to design his own implementation plan first, which he brought back to Miller around 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 6. By that time, Sund had activated the National Capital Region mutual-aid system and received help from 1,700 law enforcement officers from as far away as New Jersey. When the Guard arrived, police had cleared the Capitol and moved rioters away from the Lower West Terrace tunnel, basically ending the Jan. 6 riot. Wardynski said he found the transcript quotes from Miller surprising, based on his book and other public testimony. “In the book, it was, 'Send the Guard, send everybody that you need to send,’" Wardynski said. “And that quote doesn't reflect that viewpoint at all.” Col. Earl G. Matthews, who served as Walker's adjutant on Jan. 6 and testified as a whistleblower at an April 2024 House hearing, said he is glad to see the lawmakers continuing to uncover the truth from Jan. 6. “I really applaud Congressman Loudermilk and his team for having the fidelity to the truth to take a look at this,” Matthews said. “The DOD IG — people were not honest. Obviously they weren't honest. The January 6 committee was an abomination. Their desire was not to get to the truth.” Matthews filed a whistleblower complaint with the Department of Defense in 2023 after he said he faced retaliation for his brusque comments about Flynn and Piatt. Matthews had been recommended for the next brigadier general opening in the Army Reserve, but he has been denied the promotion because of his protected disclosures to Congress, the complaint said. New retro boomer shooter Lorn’s Lure is drenched in robotic parkour

It’s strange that parkour hasn’t been more of a thing in gaming. Of course there’s almost no FPS games that don’t feature mantling of some sort, but in terms of free running itself there’s only really Mirror’s Edge, Dying Light, and a few others that raise the flag for first person jumping. New retro game Lorn’s Lure joins that number, offering all the climbing you’ll need.
