Cops Set Up Camera To Catch School’s Shoe Thief… The Culprit Isn’t Who They Expected!

Students’ inside shoes went missing earlier this month in a kindergarten classroom in Koga City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Officials had fears about the shoes taken from a classroom shoe locker. Several shoes lay around the room, while others were missing, raising concerns that the shoe thief might target children. Law enforcement placed cameras as part of the investigation. They know the identity of the culprit, but no arrests will occur. The audio and captioning is in Japanese, but the visual is self-explanatory. After discovering that the shoe thief was a weasel, the police dropped their investigation. In the future, the school will put nets around the shoe lockers. They hope the nets will be enough to prevent the pesky pilferer from procuring more sneakers. The shoe thief was active between November 6th and 11th. Now that the school knows the culprit, it hopes to thwart further thefts. The weasel stole 14 shoes, likely in use to line its nest. Now that they know it was only a weasel, faculty and parents are breathing easier. The director of Gosho Kindergarten, Saito Keiei, shared his relief and expressed that he had initially had concerns that it was someone targeting children. Everyone is glad they discovered the wily weasel quickly. Image from YouTube. The weasel is accessing the classroom from the wall behind the shoe lockers. Experts suspect the animal may be a new mother using the shoes as nest lining. The shoes have not been located. Perhaps the shoes have landed in the same place as all our lost socks. Although we can laugh now, knowing the shoe thief is a cute little weasel, we’re glad the parents and staff have much-needed peace of mind. Please share if you laughed. Alleged Secret Mind-Blowing Projects and Programs of Deep Antiquity and the Distant Future

There are many alleged secret projects that have swirled around the conspiracy world for decades, some involving UFOs, some involving aliens, and others concerning mind control. Without a doubt, though, some of the most intriguing and mind-blowing are those that involve, essentially, time travel and, more specifically, projects that have taken place in the future or the past – or both – with direct consequences to events in our contemporary era.

10 Best Song Titles That Rhyme Of All Time

Now, this will be fun because it’s the first one we’ve done that looks at words that rhyme in a song’s title line. We stayed up all night to ensure it was right, and ready to publish in the morning’s daylight. We hope our readers won’t age as they scroll down the page and ask how could they ignore that song by the Doors. Yet we’ll take our licks because it’s what makes us tick; when we ask of you, what would be your picks? # 10 -Bony Moronie – Larry Williams Released in 1957, Larry Williams’ “Bony Moronie” is The post 10 Best Song Titles That Rhyme Of All Time appeared first on ClassicRockHistory.com.

Scientists Create AI That Predicts Future Crimes With Eerie Accuracy

Imagine a world where crimes can be predicted long before they happen. A world where AI-powered algorithms can calculate where and when the next lawbreaking will happen. Rerecent research from the University of Chicago suggests that such a future may be closer than we think. AI is indeed advancing at an incredible rate, permeating every aspect of our lives, from writing to planning travel. Even in dating, technology is starting to play a role. But what if AI is so advanced that it can predict crimes before they happen? It sounds like science fiction, but reality is already approaching this scenario. A study conducted by the University of Chicago found that the AI they created was able to predict crime rates with about 90% accuracy. The analysis used historical crime data from eight major US cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, and Philadelphia. The predictions were made at the 1,000-square-foot level. Project leader Ishanu Chattopadhyay compares the system’s operation to watching dark clouds predicting rain: “We identify patterns in events and use them to calculate the likelihood of future occurrences in certain locations… only here the patterns are much more subtle and difficult to perceive.” The main purpose of this development is not to identify specific criminals or crimes, but to analyze data on past incidents to identify high-risk areas. Chattopadhyay emphasizes that the system is not intended to prosecute individuals or punish them for crimes they have not yet committed. The ethical issue is deeply controversial. Can a person be justly accused of a crime he or she may potentially commit? This dilemma is at the center of Steven Spielberg’s film Minority Report, based on a short story by Philip K. Dick, and remains a subject of debate. However, researchers see potential in using AI to allocate police resources. Based on predictions, law enforcement agencies can better prepare for and prevent potential incidents. However, there are concerns about possible bias in the data. A recent Reddit poll found that 60% of respondents would support implementing a similar system in their city if it was 100% accurate. Comments from users reflect mixed feelings about the project, with some expressing concerns about the intrusion on personal freedom, while others questioned the fairness of the system. CNN Boosts 'Wonk' DeSantis for Defense, Morning Joe Mocks 'Lagging' Lindsey Graham

With Pete Hegseth's nomination as Secretary of Defense reportedly in trouble, Wednesday's edition of CNN This Morning boosted Ron DeSantis for the position.  CNN analyst Alex Thompson called DeSantis a "nerd" and a "wonk." But rather than meaning that pejoratively, Thompson said that members of the Trump team like DeSantis precisely because he is a wonk, and thus someone capable of taking on the Pentagon's sprawling bureaucracy. CNN VP and analyst Mark Preston looked ahead to the race for the 2028 GOP presidential nomination. He suggested adding the foreign policy chops that would come with service as SecDef to his successful record as Florida governor would put DeSantis in such a strong position that people would be asking, "JD, who?"   That elicited a laugh from host Kasie Hunt, who suggested it wasn't realistic to think that DeSantis doesn't want to run for president again. My two cents say that even if DeSantis does become SecDef, it would be foolish to write off JD's '28 prospects. Consider: In choosing him as his VP, the term-limited Trump in effect crowned Vance as his successor, and should he actually endorse him in '28, that would carry huge weight with MAGA.  Vance acquitted himself brilliantly during the campaign, not only solidfying himself with the MAGA base, but winning the hearts and minds of many Republicans who might have had doubts when Trump initially chose him. Finally, Vance is sure to have many opportunities over the next four years to establish his own foreign policy experience and expertise.  Meanwhile, over on Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough & Co. had great fun mocking Lindsey Graham. They depicted Graham as a Johnny-come-lately to the group of Senators expressing serious reservations about Hegseth's nomination.  Scarborough approvingly quoted someone he described as a "Senate insider" who called Graham, in respect of his recent raising of doubts about Hegseth, a "lagging indicator."  The panel lapped up that label. Willie Geist repeated it, and Katty Kay gushed, "I loved your description of Lindsey Graham as the lagging indicator." Note: Scarborough has a history of mocking Graham. In the immediate wake of January 6th, Graham had denounced Trump. But according to Scarborough, Graham changed his tune and came out in support of Trump after he was accosted in an airport by a group of angry Trump supporters. As we noted at the time, calling Graham "a very weak man," Muy Macho Scarborough boasted:  "I tell you what: a couple idiots chase me through the airport, it’s not going to be my problem. It’s going to be theirs." Ay: que hombre!  Here are the transcripts. CNN This Morning 12/4/24 6:07 am ET ALEX THOMPSON: And Ron DeSantis, you know, despite the tensions between the two, the one thing about DeSantis that I've heard appeals to sort of some of the Trump team: the guy's a nerd. The guy's a wonk. [Kasie Hunt laughs] KASIE HUNT: And why does it appeal to the Trump team? THOMPSON: Well, because, the Pentagon is this huge, sprawling bureaucracy, and they feel like maybe he actually would be good for that. MARK PRESTON: Let me say this: if, if DeSantis does become a Secretary of Defense, I mean, look if he gets to the Senate, he will be confirmed. If he becomes in, we're talking about now a redrawing of what the MAGA political party's going to look like, you know, in a couple of years. Because now Ron DeSantis is going to be taken out of Florida, where he knows he's been very successful. He's been a successful governor. Now he's going to get that foreign policy background you know, with him. And then it's going to be JD who? [Hunt laughs.] You know, there's going to be [inaudible.] HUNT: Well, yeah, I mean we're setting up for a, yes, I mean, for DeSantis, definitely some significant steps towards another. The idea that he doesn't want to run for president again is probably, is not, is not realistic.  -------------------------------------------------------------------- MSNBC Morning Joe 12/4/24 6:10 am ET JONATHAN LEMIRE: We hear from Republicans yesterday as well. Even as Hegseth has been making the rounds on Capitol Hill, that his nomination is in deep danger. There could be six or more Republican senators--you only need four--who are ready to sink his nomination, including Lindsey Graham, who normally goes along with whatever Trump wants.    JOE SCARBOROUGH: Hard to see how Pete Hegseth gets through this, and hard to see, especially when Lindsey Graham is saying there are a lot of concerns. One Senate insider laughingly told me, Lindsey's a lagging indicator. This was done some time ago. . . .  WILLIE GEIST: We heard Senator Lindsey Graham yesterday, probably as Joe said, a lagging indicator, saying this is going to be very difficult for Pete Hegseth. I have a lot of questions for him about his behavior, about his past.  . . .  SCARBOROUGH: Lindsey said this, Senator Graham said this: leadership comes from the top. And I want to make sure that every young woman who joins the military feels respected. That's, and Joni Ernst also said we're going to have a really frank and thorough conversation.  But again, Lindsey Graham -- MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Oof. SCARBOROUGH: -- a conservative from South Carolina, saying we want to make sure every young woman entering the military feels respected. That really does sound like one of the final -- final straws there. KATTY KAY: I loved your description of Lindsey Graham as the lagging indicator. Certainly not -- SCARBOROUGH: Wasn't mine. Wasn't mine. That was -- that was a source on the Hill who said that. KAY: We're magpies. We take, we take what we're given. But it was a very good one, yeah.

Shadow of the Road is a gorgeous new turn based RPG set in a steampunk Japan

There were two little concepts that got me with Shadow of the Road: steampunk, and feudal Japan. Two very clashing aesthetics, the former is characterized by heavy metals and hulking machinery, where the latter champions tranquillity and wood-based structures. Developer Another Angle, however, has struck the balance perfectly, transporting traditional Japanese folklore into a heavy metal world gone mad and throwing in Baldur's Gate 3-style combat for good measure. Safe to say, I can't wait to get my hands on it.
