The killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson helped once again highlight the left's appetite for ideologically motivated violence. Among the radicals who came out of the woodwork to seemingly justify the targeted Dec. 4 shooting of the father of two was Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D). The gun-control advocate who has received many financial contributions from the health and insurance industries not only seemed to exploit Thompson's death to make an apparent threat against others like him but sympathized with his alleged killer, telling the HuffPost in an interview Tuesday, "Violence is never the answer, but people can be pushed only so far." When initially asked about the callous responses to Thompson's death, Warren told HuffPost, "The visceral response from people across this country who feel cheated, ripped off, and threatened by the vile practices of their insurance companies should be a warning to everyone in the health care system." "Violence is never the answer, but people can be pushed only so far," added the failed presidential candidate. "This is a warning that if you push people hard enough, they lose faith in the ability of their government to make change, lose faith in the ability of the people who are providing the health care to make change, and start to take matters into their own hands in ways that will ultimately be a threat to everyone." Billy Gribbin, communications director for Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), responded on X, noting, "This statement invents a non-existent connection between the insane murderer and United Healthcare, which did not push this rich kid to do anything, even accidentally. He went crazy and killed someone." 'I should have been much clearer.' Wall Street Journal film critic Kyle Smith wrote, "Absolutely vile from Elizabeth Warren." "Really leaning into the 'but' on this one in ways no Democrat has been comfortable doing," tweeted Semafor Washington bureau chief Benjy Sarlin. "No, it is not inevitable that some weird rich kid assassinates an insurance CEO — what is this framing?" Numerous other critics suggested that the second half of Warren's controversial sentence effectively negates the first, rendering the statement an endorsement for murder. One commentator on X made the point with a similarly formulated statement: "'Rape is never the answer but ... she was dressed provocatively.'" In the face of incredible backlash online, Warren quickly issued a statement amending her remarks. Igor Bobic, the author of the HuffPost piece, noted several hours later that Warren had "clarifi[ed] her remarks on the UnitedHealthcare CEO's killing and the response to it," jettisoning the second half of her original statement. "Violence is never the answer. Period," said Warren. "I should have been much clearer that there is never a justification for murder." 'I would visit him in prison and bake him cookies maybe.' While the Democratic senator clarified that she actually thinks murder is wrong, fellow travelers continued to relish the bloodletting. Jimmy Kimmel, who bemoaned the fate of "decency" following President-elect Donald Trump's victory last month, called Thompson's suspected murderer "Time's sexiest alleged murderer of the year" and "the hottest cold-blooded killer in America" on his Disney network show Tuesday. Kimmel also shared messages supposedly penned by producers on his show expressing admiration for Luigi Mangione. One text message shared on screen said, "I love Luigi." Another message said, "Ppl are saying a NY jury has the power to find him innocent. Bc we all love him." Kimmel also posted a message that read, "I would visit him in prison and bake him cookies maybe." Kimmel further trivialized the matter on his show the following evening, equating the shooting to a "protest." The late-night host did, however, acknowledge this week that "sometimes when people identify with why a crime was committed, we lose sight of the reality of that crime." 'It feels like justice in this system.' Former Washington Post writer Taylor Lorenz was among the radicals who appeared joyful this week about the reality of the crime. Blaze News previously reported that Lorenz told Piers Morgan of "Piers Morgan Uncensored" on Monday that she "felt, along with so many other Americans, joy" upon learning of Thompson's slaying. "I take that back. 'Joyful' is the wrong word, Piers," Lorenz later said. "Vindicated, celebratory — because it feels like justice in this system when somebody responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans suffers the same fate as those tens of thousands of Americans who he murdered." Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker (D) stated Wednesday that he supports deporting illegal aliens who are convicted of violent offenses and would be open to meeting with President-elect Donald Trump's incoming administration.In response to recent comments by Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, Pritzker told WFLD that he is open to removing some illegal immigrants from the country.'I do not want them in my state.'During an event in Chicago earlier this week, Homan had a clear message for Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson: Either help the incoming administration with deportations or "get out of the way."He vowed to start the deportation plans "right here in Chicago.""If the Chicago mayor doesn't want to help, step aside. But if he impedes us, harbors or conceals illegal aliens, I will prosecute him," Homan warned.Chicago is a sanctuary city that prohibits local law enforcement agencies from cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to assist with deportation efforts.Homan has repeatedly argued that such policies protect criminal illegal aliens. He has further noted that efforts by liberal state and local leaders to hinder deportation efforts will only result in ICE deploying more officers in those communities. Homan explained that Johnson's pledge to protect illegal aliens would produce the "exact results he's bitching about."Following Homan's remarks, Pritzker initially refused to respond.His office said, "Rather than responding to every ridiculous boast from Trump lackeys, Governor Pritzker is focused on what he was focused on during the first Trump term: leading our state with competence instead of chaos."However, on Wednesday, Pritzker stated that he supports deporting violent illegal aliens."Violent criminals who are undocumented and convicted of violent crime should be deported," Pritzker said. "I do not want them in my state; I don't think they should be in the United States."He said he would welcome a meeting with Homan or the incoming Trump administration but claimed no one had contacted him.Last month, Pritzker told MSNBC host Joy Reid that he would do everything within his power to "protect our undocumented immigrants," calling them "residents of our state.""I want to be clear that there are certain circumstances in which the federal government, state governments should work together to allow deportation. An example would be somebody who's been convicted of a violent crime," he said. "But they are talking about rounding up people who are law-abiding undocumented immigrants in this country, many of whom are working, paying taxes, not getting any benefits from those taxes, I might add," Pritzker stated, referring to foreign nationals who illegally entered the country.He claimed that Trump's mass deportation plan "may be unconstitutional."Like Blaze News? Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska reportedly said she is "not attached" to the GOP label and that she would rather have "no label," and she has the voting record to prove it. Murkowski's track record differs from her hard-line Republican colleagues. She often breaks from her party at consequential moments, like voting against confirming Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2018 or being the only GOP senator to vote in favor of convicting now President-elect Donald Trump in 2021. Murkowski said she felt "more comfortable" with no party label than with "an identity as a Republican."'I don't think I've made any secret of the fact that I'm more of a Ronald Reagan Republican than I am a Trump Republican.'“I'm not attached to a label," Murkowski said. "I'd rather be that ‘no label.’ I'd rather be that person that is just known for trying to do right by the state and the people that I serve, regardless of party, and I'm totally good and comfortable with that." Although she has been known to buck the party, Murkowski insisted that she is "still a Republican" and that she has "never shed [her] party label." "We've got a system in the Senate where there are two sides of the aisle, and I have to sit on one side or I have to sit on the other," Murkowski said. "I don't think I've made any secret of the fact that I'm more of a Ronald Reagan Republican than I am a Trump Republican," Murkowski continued. "And someone said, 'Well, you aren't really a Republican at all.' And I said, 'You can call me whatever you want to call me.'"Murkowski and Republican Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, and Joni Ernst of Iowa have functioned as a roadblock against Trump, potentially tanking the incoming administration's Cabinet nominees. Most recently, Pete Hegseth, who has been nominated to head the Department of Defense, was initially facing an uphill battle for his Senate confirmation thanks to Ernst. Although she went against the grain, the pressure campaign from Trump's political allies prompted her to cave and support Hegseth. Over the course of this sale, the store will have 16 free games, according to a blog post. Epic isn’t spilling the beans about which games will be on offer, teasing only that you’ll be able to claim “some absolutely amazing titles.” But in pervious years, Epic has given away big games like Destiny 2: Legacy Collection and Control, so fingers crossed that Epic has some good holiday surprises up its sleeve. For paid deals, there are some good games to sift through, like 35 percent off Dragon Age: The Veilguard and Star Wars: Outlaws.
