How Can We Vote for Four More Years of THIS? Inflation IS UP 20 Percent Under Biden-Harris

We all know inflation is bad. In fact, some of the numbers we're getting are probably grossly underestimating it. For example, the cost of eggs is up 147%. And while we're not math majors. that's way more…

Gun Control Group Now Claims It Wants to 'Uphold the Second Amendment'

It was only a matter of time, I suppose. The gun control lobby tries to rebrand itself on a regular basis; going from out-and-proud "gun control" activists to "gun violence prevention" advocates and now…

See a First-Person View of the First Private Spacewalk

On Tuesday, September 10th, at 5:23 a.m. EST (03:23 p.m. PST), the Polaris Dawn mission launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, carrying a crew of four to Low Earth Orbit (LEO). This mission is the first of three that comprise the Polaris Program, a private spaceflight program organized by entrepreneur and private astronaut Jared Isaacman and financed by SpaceX. Since launching, the Resilience Crew Dragon spacecraft has flown higher than any crewed mission since the Apollo Era and passed through parts of the Van Allen radiation belt. Earlier today, the crew carried out the first private spacewalk in the history of spaceflight! SpaceX and the Polaris Dawn crew have completed the first commercial spacewalk!“SpaceX, back at home we all have a lot of work to do, but from here, Earth sure looks like a perfect world.” — Mission Commander @rookisaacman during Dragon egress and seeing our planet from ~738 km pic.twitter.com/lRczSv5i4k— Polaris (@PolarisProgram) September 12, 2024 Footage of the spacewalk was taken from Isaacman’s helmet camera and shared via the Polaris Program’s X account. The footage shows mission commander Jared Isaacman egressing from the spacecraft’s forward hatch. Then, amid the raucous cheers from the mission controllers, we see Isaacman looking down on planet Earth from an altitude of about 738 km (~460 mi). He can be heard in the video recording saying, “SpaceX, back at home, we all have a lot of work to do, but from here, Earth sure looks like a perfect world.” The footage then switched to the spacecraft’s nosecone camera, which shows Isaacman emerging from the forward hatch against the background of Earth. In addition to Isaacman, the crew included mission pilot Scott Poteet, a retired pilot from the United States Air Force (USAF); mission specialist and SpaceX senior space operations engineer Sarah Gillis; and mission specialist and medical officer Anna Menon, SpaceX’s lead space operations engineer and mission director. This was the first flight for all crewmembers, except for Isaacman, who is returning to space for a second time after the successful Inspiration4 mission – the first all-civilian space mission that flew from September 16th to 18th in 2021. In addition to performing the first commercial spacewalk and testing the SpaceX-designed Extravehicular Activity (EVA) spacesuits – an upgraded version of the intravehicular (IVA) suit – the mission’s main objective is to better understand the effects of spaceflight and space radiation on human health. To this end, the spacecraft is orbiting through parts of the Van Allen radiation belt while multiple sensors actively monitor the crew’s health. Upon their return, they will also submit biological samples, which will be analyzed and kept in a long-term Biobank. The crew will also test Starlink’s laser-based communications in orbit to provide data for future space communications systems. All of this research is intended to advance our understanding of the hazards of long-duration spaceflight and develop the necessary technologies to enable extended missions to the Moon and Mars in the coming decades. The Polaris Dawn mission will return to Earth on September 15th after spending five days in space. The post See a First-Person View of the First Private Spacewalk appeared first on Universe Today.

Steve Harris picks the “ideal” Iron Maiden song

Steve Harris formed Iron Maiden back in 1975 and besides being the band's bassist he always had been their main songwriter. So most of the songs released by the group over the decades were written by Harris but sometimes he had the help of other bandmates. In an interview with Scars and Guitars podcast (Transcribed by Ultimate Guitar), Harris was asked which would be the "ideal" Iron Maiden song. So he decided to choose a track that was written with other bandmates and not only by him. Steve Harris picks the "ideal" Iron Maiden song "That's an odd one because there's so many songs I've written. I don't know how many I've written, but it's got to be more than 150 songs at least over the years. It's a really tough one to say. I don't know. I think it's probably something you would probably ask the fans. I think when you ask people, we'd never really do that, but if you did ask people, I think you'd probably get 10 or 12 people saying 10 to 12 different songs. It's just such a personalized thing, so it's very difficult." The interviewer then suggested "Flight of Icarus" as an ideal song and Harris disagreed. "Not really, because I think it would be better to choose a song that's written by, say, three of us, or whatever because that song was written by Adrian and Bruce. It doesn't really have the elements of my writing in there. I would probably pick something like 'The Evil That Men Do,' which is written by all three of us. We're the main songwriters. David does write, too, but he's not very prolific. Nicko doesn't write, Janick joined a lot later, but he's become quite a prolific writer. I still probably say 'The Evil That Men Do,'" Steve Harris said. "The Evil That Men Do" was released by Iron Maiden on their 1988 album "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son". Besides this song and the title-track, that album also had other famous songs like "Can I Play With Madness" and "The Clairvoyant". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6JpxDebokMThe post Steve Harris picks the “ideal” Iron Maiden song appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.

Ace Frehley recalls ‘the beginning of the end’ for Kiss’ original line-up

Kiss was formed in New York City back in 1973 by Ace Frehley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss and Paul Stanley. That classic line-up made the band one of the biggest acts in the world in the following years and it came to an end when Peter Criss left the group in 1980 and Frehley would also leave the band in 1982. Both of them reunited with Gene and Paul in 1996 but it lasted only a few years. In an interview with Guitar Tales Podcast (Transcribed by Ultimate Guitar), Ace Frehley recalled, in his opinion, what was the beginning of the end for the band's original line-up. Ace Frehley recalls 'the beginning of the end' for Kiss' original line-up "In the early days, me and Gene used to room together in a Holiday Inn. Then after 'Alive!' hit, we each had our own suites. Everybody was going in their own direction, and it was kind of the beginning of the end. I saw it happening." "And plus, with the success of my solo record ("Ace Frehley - 1978), I realized I was a lot more creative away from Paul , Gene and Peter than I was around them." "When I was in Kiss, for example, Paul and Gene would not associate with the roadies or the truck drivers. They had their nose in the air. I used to sit and play poker with the truck drivers. And hang out with my roadies, and we'd go to pawn shops together. I was accessible." "Because I grew up on the streets, and I know what it's like not to have money. So I don't judge people by how much money they have. It's about their character and their personality and whether or not they're good people," Ace Frehley said. Ace Frehley was part of Kiss from 1973 to 1982 and from 1996 to 2002. In the late 80s he released two studio albums with his band Frehley’s Comet and as a solo act he already released 8 studio albums, the most recent one being “10,000 volts” (2024). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C_sIotnmVQ&pp=ygUOcmlwIGl0IG91dCBhY2U%3DThe post Ace Frehley recalls ‘the beginning of the end’ for Kiss’ original line-up appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.
