Daniel Shulman: The ClassicRockHistory.com Interview

As a teen, young Daniel Shulman—who had barely dipped his toe into hip-hop’s groovy pool—found himself in the studio with Run-DMC during the group’s ’80s golden age. The result was some mighty fine four-stringed fretwork on 1986’s Raising Hell, and 1988’s Tougher Than Leather, and a production credit on 1993’s Down with the King, featuring none other than Tom Morello. If Shulman had stayed in the hip-hop world, he probably could have made a name for himself as a reliable session man—but he didn’t. “I play different genres because I’m a fan of different music,” he says. “Most modern popular The post Daniel Shulman: The ClassicRockHistory.com Interview appeared first on ClassicRockHistory.com.

‘Optics Over Security’: House Committee Faults Biden-Harris Admin for Botched Afghanistan Withdrawal in New Report

DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION—The House Foreign Affairs Committee released a report on Sunday detailing the Biden-Harris administration’s failures that led to the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal in August 2021. The Biden-Harris administration failed to properly coordinate and adhere to recommendations from NATO and senior military officials regarding the withdrawal, endangering American troops and resulting in the Abbey Gate suicide bombing that left 13 service members dead, according to the 354-page report. The administration also ignored conditions in the Doha Agreement, bypassed pleas from the Afghani government, and “directly lied to the American people” about the process of the withdrawal, according to the report. The report includes testimonies from 18 administration officials, including former White House press secretary Jen Psaki, former acting Ambassador to Afghanistan Ross Wilson, and Gen. Austin Miller. “Our investigation reveals the Biden-Harris administration had the information and opportunity to take necessary steps to plan for the inevitable collapse of the Afghan government, so we could safely evacuate U.S. personnel, American citizens, green card holders, and our brave Afghan allies,” Republican Rep. Michael McCaul of Texas, who serves as chair to the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said in a statement Sunday. “At each step of the way, however, the administration picked optics over security.” The House Foreign Affairs Committee is getting to the bottom of the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal. The decision to remove all troops regardless of conditions being met was reckless and deadly. People deserve to know what happened and will learn more in tomorrow’s report. pic.twitter.com/E0VrAvphje— Congressman Mike Lawler (@RepMikeLawler) September 8, 2024 Approximately 170 civilians were killed in the bombing, leaving behind roughly $7 billion worth of military equipment that have since fallen into the hands of the Taliban. Matthew Miller, a spokesperson for the Biden-Harris State Department, called the withdrawal the “correct policy choice” just two days after the Gold Star families spoke out against the withdrawal in August of 2023. “The Biden-Harris administration misled and, in some instances, directly lied to the American people at every stage of the withdrawal, from before the go-to-zero order until today,” the report reads. “This coverup included mid-level administration officials all the way up to the Oval Office. And as this investigation reveals, the National Security Council and NSA Jake Sullivan were of the source of the majority of that misinformation campaign.” “In the aftermath of the withdrawal, U.S. national security was degraded as Afghanistan once again became a haven for terrorists, including al Qaeda and ISIS- K,” the report reads. “America’s credibility on the world stage was severely damaged after we abandoned Afghan allies to Taliban reprisal killings—the people of Afghanistan we had promised to protect. And the moral injury to America’s veterans and those still serving remains a stain on this administration’s legacy.” Vice President Kamala Harris confirmed that she was the “last person in the room” when President Joe Biden decided to withdraw from Afghanistan and said she was “comfortable” with the decision during an interview with Dana Bash in April 2021. The White House maintained that the withdrawal was the “right thing to do,” according to a statement given to CNN. “Everything we have seen and heard of Chairman McCaul’s latest partisan report shows that it is based on cherry-picked facts, inaccurate characterizations, and preexisting biases that have plagued this investigation from the start,” Sharon Yang, a White House spokesperson for oversight investigations, said, according to CNN. “This report paints an incriminating picture of an administration concerned with optics and public perception rather than accountability and the safety of American personnel,” House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said in a Monday post on X. “Because of this failed withdrawal, the Taliban once again controls Afghanistan, terrorists have been emboldened, billions of dollars of weapons and equipment were left behind, and America has lost the trust of our allies. And not a single administration official was fired over this catastrophe.” Originally published by the Daily Caller News Foundation The post ‘Optics Over Security’: House Committee Faults Biden-Harris Admin for Botched Afghanistan Withdrawal in New Report appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Tom Cotton spends 9 minutes embarrassing CNN anchor as she pushes false JD Vance accusation, Russian interference narrative

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) bested CNN anchor Dana Bash on Sunday, using his nine-minute interview to undermine her narratives and poke holes in her questions. Russian interference Last week, the Justice Department unveiled an indictment against two Russian nationals on allegations of a "conspiracy to violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) and conspiracy to commit money laundering." The story was used as yet more evidence of Russian interference in the election, a narrative that Bash regurgitated. 'If that police officer hadn't been there, if Kamala Harris had gotten her way, many more students and teachers might have been killed.' In response, Cotton not only explained why the narrative isn't true, but he drew attention to a more obvious and serious example of election interference. "People should not knowingly take money from the government of Russia or Iran or China or any other adversarial nation to try to influence the election," Cotton began. "But I also think it's fair to say that a few memes or videos in the vast sea of political commentary is not going to make much of a difference in this election, nor has it in past elections as well. "What did make a difference in the last election is the lies about Hunter Biden's laptop that more than four dozen former intelligence officials lied about in the middle of that campaign," he continued. "And most networks, including this one, bought that lie hook, line, and sinker," Cotton pointed out. "That did make a difference in the election." JD Vance quote Later in the interview, Bash repeated a debunked accusation made against Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance. Last week, Vance was accused of saying nonchalantly that school shootings are a "fact of life" in America when, in reality, he was mourning such incidents. The framing appears to have originated with a social media post from the Associated Press, a post the outlet later deleted. The Harris campaign and Democrats immediately repeated the false framing to smear Vance. "Do you accept that school shootings like this are just a way of life now?" Bash asked. "No, absolutely not. And JD Vance doesn't either. He said that he doesn't want them to be a fact of life," Cotton fired back. "And this week, the Associated Press got caught distorting that quote from him, so bad that they had to retract it." The Arkansas senator then demonstrated how Harris' policy preferences will exact real-world outcomes. "Here's what we also know about that shooting, even as we're still gathering all the facts: It wasn't as bad as it might have been because there was a police officer on the school premises that was able to neutralize the shooter," Cotton explained. "Kamala Harris wants to take police officers out of schools. She said it in the past. That's her position," he pointed out. "If that police officer hadn't been there, if Kamala Harris had gotten her way, many more students and teachers might have been killed." Cheney's endorsement At the beginning of the interview, Bash tried to magnify the significance of former Vice President Dick Cheney's endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris, describing it as "really remarkable" while suggesting that it is bad for Donald Trump. But Cotton wasn't buying the narrative. "In the end, endorsements are not going to make the difference in this race. What's going to make the difference is their records," he told Bash. Cotton later explained, "Some of this is probably that Donald Trump beat his daughter [Liz Cheney] in her last election by 39 points. "I think most Americans are going to look at this race and compare the records they have. Again, it's a very unusual race when you have a president who served in office, who brought good times to America, and you have Kamala Harris, a San Francisco liberal, who has brought to America exactly what you see in San Francisco as well," he added. Comedian trolls Nancy Pelosi on being 'greatest options trader of all time,' gets physically thrown out of book signing

A conservative comedian was escorted away from former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) after heckling her over her family's much-talked-about stock market trading record. Comedian Alex Strenger was physically ushered away from Pelosi after playfully mocking the Democrat leader over her husband's outstanding record of trading stocks. The comedian called Pelosi “the greatest options trader of all time.” 'I just want to know; she makes six figures a year in Congress and has a hundred-million-dollar net worth.'Strenger disguised himself as a liberal to infiltrate Pelosi's book signing at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin on Saturday. The comedian approached Pelosi while wearing a "White Dudes for Kamala" shirt, a Bernie Sanders hat, and a face mask.Strenger introduced himself to Pelosi, "Hi, my name is Noah. I use he/they pronouns." "I appreciate your, like, fierce, staunch defending of democracy," he said. "It really means so, so much, you know?""And, you know, like, honestly, like, I’m really scared about, you know, Donald Trump winning the election," the comedian continued. "And honestly, with all the disinformation on X, like, you know, I honestly, the only chance, like, that we have is for Donald Trump to spend the rest of his life in prison. That’s the only hope for democracy."Pelosi replied, "We just have to win the election."A security guard then intervened to shut down the exchange by putting her hands on Strenger and physically removing him by shoving him. As he was being pushed away, Strenger asked Pelosi, “Well, Nancy, listen. Well, sure. Last question. What stocks should I buy? Nancy, you’re the greatest options trader of all time. I just want to know what stocks I should buy. What, I just want to know, like, what’s your biggest concern?”Strenger trolled the liberals in the room by pointing out that there was security at the event and how it went against the progressive defund-the-police movement. “The police are an instrumental institution of white supremacy and racism," the comedian sarcastically quipped. "I don’t understand why they are even here at all. They should be defunded.”As he was being escorted out, Strenger shouted: “I just want to know; she makes six figures a year in Congress and has a hundred-million-dollar net worth. Don’t y’all want to know what stocks she should buy? Come on. I just want to know. I just want to know what stocks to buy. I want to close the wealth gap. What’s the problem? I just want to close the wealth gap.”Pelosi was paid $223,500 annually as speaker of the House and now makes a $174,000 salary as a member of Congress.Pelosi and her husband have a combined net worth of nearly $245 million based on the price movement of stocks in her portfolio as calculated by alternative stock data platform Quiver Quantitative.Strenger posted the video on the X social media platform with the caption: "Assaulted by @SpeakerPelosi’s Security Detail when all I wanted was stock advice."At the time of publication, the video had been viewed over 268,000 times. Strenger noted that Blaze Media personality Alex Stein — host of "Prime Time with Alex Stein" — has "mentored me, provided me with guidance, shared my posts, invited me on his show, and more."He added, "Comedy will save the world from tyranny, and we need to mock these globalists into obscurity."Pelosi has drawn scrutiny over her husband's exceptional track record of trading stocks. Paul Pelosi, a founder of a real estate and venture capitalist firm, has a history of making remunerative investments that critics see as conflicts of interest given Nancy's access to inside information due to her high-ranking position in the government. In March 2021, Pelosi bought $10 million in shares of Microsoft just 12 days before it was announced that the technology company secured a government contract worth nearly $22 billion to supply U.S. Army combat troops with augmented reality headsets. As Blaze News reported in July 2022, Paul Pelosi purchased millions of dollars' worth of stock in the Nvidia semiconductor company weeks before a Senate vote on a bill that would provide $52 billion in subsidies to the tech industry.Pelosi’s stock options gained more than 65% in 2023, according to analysis by Unusual Whales.Pelosi was questioned about Congress members trading in the stock market when they may know insider information because of their duties. Pelosi snapped back, "We are a free-market economy. They should be able to participate in that."Drew Hammill, Pelosi's communications director, told Fox Business in 2022, "The speaker does not own any stocks. The speaker has no prior knowledge or subsequent involvement in any transactions."The Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act of 2012, also known as the STOCK Act, made it illegal for family members and members of Congress to profit from insider trading. A 2023 report from Business Insider claimed that 78 members of Congress failed to properly report their financial trades as mandated by the STOCK Act.For a deeper analysis of how Congress members apparently profit from being incredible stock market experts, watch the Blaze Originals documentary titled: "Bought and Paid For: How Politicians Get Filthy Rich." - YouTube www.youtube.com Like Blaze News?
