Here's a List of 25 Questions ABC's Moderators Should Ask Harris at the Debate

Here's a List of 25 Questions ABC's Moderators Should Ask Harris at the Debate

For the Dana Bash interview on CNN, we made a list of 30 questions we'd recommend to Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. CNN only touched on five of them, especially the fracking-ban question. Bash asked a very open-ended question on Harris and Biden's mental decline. Before Tuesday's night's big presidential debate, we'd like to reprise most of these questions and add a few ones based on the latest news. Harris-Walz is arguably the most liberal ticket ever, but they are trying desperately to cover that up, so here are a wide variety of 25 questions that moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis could ask that might actually help voters make an informed choice in a couple of months. Should death row inmates have the right to vote? Do you support the elimination of private health insurance?   How can you claim to unite the country when you were named the most liberal senator in 2019? Should biological males, who identify as women, be allowed to compete in women’s sports? Do you support any limits on abortion? When does life begin?  Do you support the efforts of Democrats to keep some candidates (Jill Stein, Cornel West) off the ballot and try to keep some candidates (RFK Jr.) on the ballot after they've left the race? Is this pro-democracy? Now that Hunter Biden has pleaded guilty to tax evasion, do you have any regrets about your advocacy of Trump's impeachment over seeking more information on Hunter's influence-peddling? Would you overturn President Biden’s ban on LNG exports? If not, how can you really claim to be tough on Russia? What is the greater national security threat? China or climate change? Who will be more prevalent in a Harris Administration: environmentalists or unions with EV concerns? How can voters trust your national security judgement when, in 2019, you said Donald Trump was the greatest threat to U.S. national security? Given October 7 and everything that has happened since, was it a mistake for President Biden to take the Houthis off the terrorist organization list? Do you support ending the Senate filibuster? Do you support adding justices to the Supreme Court?  How can voters trust you on the economy when even liberal Washington Post columnists are attacking your price control plan? How do you plan to tackle the national debt without serious spending reforms? Did President Biden overspend, causing inflation? Did colleges violate Title VI by not ending anti-Israel and often anti-Semitic demonstrations earlier this year? Is America a systemically racist country? Did you conceal anything about Biden’s mental or physical condition from the American people? How can you claim to be the pro-democracy candidate when you were essentially appointed as nominee? Did you really work at McDonald's? You never mentioned it until you decided to run for president?  How can you complain about Trump exaggerating his record when your running mate Tim Walz has claimed to have won awards he never won?  Why are you suggesting Trump will cut Social Security and Medicare when he has explicitly promised not to cut it, and he didn't cut these programs during his presidency?  Asking the questions on this list will be a good test of ABC's desire to make the election about issues rather than personalities.

Green Day literally runs offstage after drone spotted inside stadium; drone operator caught; feds on the case

Cellphone video showed pop-punk band Green Day literally running offstage Wednesday in Detroit after a drone was spotted inside Comerica Park."There was an individual that flew a drone into Comerica Park, so Green Day was taken off stage," Detroit police Cpl. Dan Donakowski said, according to the Detroit News. "Shortly after that, they went back on stage to perform. DPD located this individual outside of Comerica Park. He is being detained pending further investigation."'How you guys doing? Everybody OK?' lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong asked crowd of around 35,000 fans after the drone incident. The paper said the band members were rushed from the stage at 8:50 p.m. — about 20 minutes into the concert and during the second chorus of the hit single "Longview." The News said after a few minutes, a message showed up on the concert video screens saying, "Show Pause. Please standby for details."The delay lasted about 10 minutes, then Green Day returned to the stage, the paper said."How you guys doing? Everybody OK?" lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong asked crowd of around 35,000 fans after the drone incident, the News said, adding that the band kicked into "Longview" at the spot when the drone interrupted them. The paper said that after the next song, "Welcome to Paradise," Armstrong told the crowd, "There ain't no motherf***er that's gonna stop us, I'll tell you that."The News said in a follow-up story that federal authorities are investigating the suspect.Detroit Police Sgt. Daren Zhou said the drone pilot was questioned but not arrested, the paper reported. "We've forwarded the case to the [U.S. Federal Aviation Administration]," Zhou said, according to the News. The paper said the FAA bans flying drones in and around a radius of three nautical miles from stadiums or venues starting one hour before and ending one hour after the scheduled time of major event.FAA spokesperson Eva Ngai told the News that although the agency lacks the authority to pursue criminal charges, it can fine "drone operators who endanger other aircraft or people on the ground" to fines "that exceed $30,000. In addition, the FAA can suspend or revoke drone operators’ pilot certificates."The paper, citing the FAA's website, added that drone operators who conduct unsafe or unauthorized operations face fines up to $75,000 per violation.Like Blaze News? Afghan gang rapes shatter Vienna's civilized café society

Afghan gang rapes shatter Vienna's civilized café society

Austria is often depicted as a land of absolute bliss — a paradise where the sound of music fills the air and the Alps soar high. The capital, Vienna, known for its stunning architecture and its countless cafés, exudes an air of sophistication. But beneath this postcard-perfect image, a far darker reality has emerged. Yodeling has turned into shrieking as gang violence grips the streets. In February, in the space of just 24 hours, three women were stabbed to death by a 27-year-old Afghan national. In short, “The Land of Dreams” is consumed by nightmares that threaten its very identity. Many of these nightmares have been — and continue to be — triggered by Barbarian-like migrants. The escalating violence has sparked outrage. National elections are just a few weeks away. The Central European nation is in a state of existential upheaval, with solutions on offer that would have seemed unthinkable just a decade ago.Boots on the groundThis brings us to the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), which recently turned heads both domestically and abroad with a controversial proposal: Deploy the military to restore law and order. The FPÖ has been riding high in public opinion since 2022, positioning itself as the champion of terrified Austrians. Its message is clear: Take back control of the country and do so with swift and decisive action. The message is resonating. As I write this, the FPÖ is leading with 27% of the vote, while the center-right ÖVP trails closely behind at 23%.Gang-rape diplomacyShould the FPÖ come out on top, it will face significant challenges. Recent data, for instance, reveal a notable increase in crime rates within Vienna’s districts with large immigrant populations. According to the latest police statistics, the Austrian capital experiences an average of 460 crimes daily. Of these incidents, roughly 52% involve migrants, most from Afghanistan and other Middle Eastern countries. When it comes to imported rape and murder, Austria is clearly catching up to its neighbor Germany. In one particularly shocking incident from 2017, three Afghan asylum seekers gang-raped a woman at a train station. In 2021, three Afghan migrants assaulted a 13-year-old girl and forced her to take enough drugs that she overdosed and died. Her body was later found wrapped in a carpet and left by a tree.Of course, Afghans don’t have a monopoly on monstrous acts. In another shocking case, an Austrian court sentenced eight Iraqi men for the gang rape of a German tourist during New Year’s celebrations in Vienna. In majority-Muslim countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Pakistan, gang rape is not uncommon, particularly when used as a method of punishment. In some cases, these acts are framed as a way to enforce "moral codes" or as retribution for perceived slights against family honor. The concept of "honor" plays a significant role in these societies, where women are often seen as the bearers of family reputation. If a woman is perceived to have engaged in behavior that brings shame to her family — whether through accusations of infidelity, inappropriate relationships, or even simply being seen in the wrong company — gang rape can be inflicted as a form of retribution. Sometimes the victim is punished for the perceived transgressions of another. An infamous example of this is Mukhtar Mai, a young Pakistani woman who was gang-raped in 2002 on the orders of a tribal council. She was accused of no crime; the punishment was in response to a crime her brother allegedly committed. The attack was intended to humiliate her and her family. Austria’s future? While such practices might be considered normal in their countries of origin, they are shocking and horrifying to anyone with a moral compass in a civilized society like Austria.Often, this depravity takes on a dangerous political dimension. Last month, Austrian authorities uncovered a disturbing plot by Islamic fundamentalists to target Taylor Swift concerts in the capital. Officials revealed that one of the would-be mass murderers admitted to planning to "kill as many people as possible outside the concert venue.”While this threat was averted, violence elsewhere remains relentless. In February, in the space of just 24 hours, three women were stabbed to death by a 27-year-old Afghan national. Clearly, this is no longer the Austria of Johann Strauss and Gustav Klimt. The coming election will be more than a vote on who leads the country — it will be a referendum on Austria's very survival.

Germany's suicidal, rape-friendly immigration policy

Germany's suicidal, rape-friendly immigration policy

If the decline of Ireland is a tragedy, what's going on in Germany is equivalent to a piece of experimental theatre: difficult to fathom and even more difficult to explain. It’s a darkly comic reflection of how a nation can fully embrace both the absurd and the profoundly unjust at the very same time. Once celebrated for its order and intellectual prowess, Germany now finds itself in a bizarre scenario where its responses to crime and dissent are nothing short of farcical.'Das Land der Dichter und Denker (the land of poets and thinkers) has become das Land der Narren und Schurken (the land of clowns and criminals). The joke, however, is on the people of Germany. And no one is laughing. Well, almost no one. You see, foreign nationals with a penchant for robbery and assault have plenty of reason to smile. Immigrants make up about 15% of Germany's population, yet they were responsible for a record 41% of all criminal activities last year. Government statistics show that crimes involving foreign suspects rose by 23% in 2022 and by 18% in 2023. In the nation’s capital, Berlin, where knife crimes are a regular occurrence, the police came up with a "solution" that sounds like something straight out of a Monty Python skit. These cerebral custodians of community safety suggested that victims should sing loudly to fend off attackers. Yes, really. In other words, if you find yourself threatened by a knife-wielding lunatic, instead of calling for help or trying to escape, you’re encouraged to belt out a bit of Whitney Houston. Naturally, this advice was immediately met with widespread ridicule, and the police quickly walked back their suggestion, admitting it was both impractical and detached from reality. But the absolute idiocy doesn’t stop there. Consider the German government’s recent decision to hand out €1,000 to an Afghan man even as it deported him for raping an 11-year-old girl. This financial aid, intended to ease his reintegration into Afghan society, also sparked inordinate amounts of outrage and confusion. This wicked soul was one of 28 Afghan criminals expelled from Germany. The other 27, it's important to note, also received financial aid. All funded by taxpayers, of course. To make matters worse, while dangerous delinquents are being rewarded, authors are being punished and persecuted. This brings us to CJ Hopkins, a figure I’ve discussed elsewhere. This American-born playwright, novelist, and political satirist has lived in Berlin for nearly 20 years, using his sharp humor to critique modern politics and surveillance. His latest work, "The Rise of the New Normal Reich," highlights how authoritarian tendencies are creeping in under the guise of pandemic measures and the suppression of dissent.Hopkins’ career, which once thrived in the city that inspired his writing, is now under attack. This has been the case for more than two years. His troubles began in August 2022 when he criticized COVID-19 mask mandates as symbols of ideological conformity. His provocative comparisons between contemporary Germany and Nazi-era tactics ignited a firestorm, leading to an investigation by the Interior Ministry of the Federal State of Hessen and a criminal inquiry. What followed was a coordinated attempt to silence him, extending beyond Germany to Austria and the Netherlands. His outspoken views led to book bans, a criminal trial, and a media feeding frenzy. Although he was initially acquitted, the Berlin district prosecutor, unhappy with the outcome, appealed the ruling. This led to a retrial scheduled for September 30 at the Berlin Superior Court. It’s possible that his nightmarish ordeal will never end. As he told me himself, the relentless, forever-increasing legal fees could lead to complete financial ruin. The physical and psychological toll he endures has become overwhelming, surpassing what most people could bear. While rapists have their bank accounts replenished, Hopkins' finances are being drained dry.Though Hopkins' ordeal might appear to be a uniquely German issue, he believes that it mirrors a global trend. The sexagenarian argues that his case is a striking example of a broader crackdown on free speech, extending beyond Germany to many parts of the world. This issue extends beyond the differences in free speech protections between countries like Germany and the U.S., for example. It signifies a broader and more insidious suppression of government critics. It also illustrates the troubling use of ostensibly neutral institutions to silence those who dare challenge prevailing narratives. When compared to Hopkins' persecution, Germany's aiding and abetting of criminals reveals a concerning trend. Instead of focusing on tangible criminal activities, the state seems more interested in eliminating “thought crimes.” In the eyes of German lawmakers, the pen really is mightier than the sword — or, more accurately, the knife.Again, though, there's very little, if anything, to laugh about here. Both issues — the rampant crime, much of it perpetrated by immigrants, and the stifling of free speech — are part of a larger European narrative. In Ireland, as I have shown previously, the government is actively working on a "hate speech" bill that could severely impact civil liberties. The proposed legislation would give prosecutors sweeping powers to convict individuals based on broad and vague definitions of "hate speech," regardless of intent. Scotland’s situation is even more concerning. The Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act of 2021 introduces a new offense called “inciting hatred,” which encompasses a broad range of categories like age, disability, religion, and gender identity. The law's vague language and severe penalties — up to seven years in prison — raise significant worries about misuse and the suppression of free speech. Prosecutors only need to show that inciting hatred was “likely” without proving any intent to offend, which makes the potential for wrongful convictions alarmingly high.As is clear to see, these legislative changes aren’t just isolated national concerns; they’re part of a broader European trend, with Brussels playing a significant role. Earlier this year, the European Parliament backed a report suggesting that hate speech and hate crimes be classified as “Euro crimes.” If this classification goes through, derogatory speech (whatever that looks like in 2024) could face harsh penalties across the continent. From Metz to Motherwell, Europe faces a troubling combination of rising violent crime rates and increasingly stringent restrictions, which are likely to exacerbate the problems rather than alleviate them. The goings-on in Germany, the economic powerhouse of Europe, reflects the continent's broader state — more precisely, its dire state. Das Land der Dichter und Denker (the land of poets and thinkers) has become das Land der Narren und Schurken (the land of clowns and criminals). While Hopkins fights for his very existence, violent thugs, quite literally, prosper.
