Weird Theories on Why We Haven’t Found Extraterrestrial Intelligence

Scientists now know that there are billions of planets in the universe where aliens could live. So why haven’t any of these life forms made contact with us? Perhaps they’re too far away, or maybe aliens just don’t want to talk to us. Or there could be an even stranger reason. Here are theories that solve the famous Fermi paradox: If aliens do exist, where are they? We’re looking for aliens in the wrong universe Perhaps we haven’t found aliens because our universe isn’t particularly hospitable to life. Perhaps Earth is an anomaly among dead worlds. One theory suggests that our universe is one of many possible ones and isn’t the best place for intelligent life to emerge. Humans are just lucky to have evolved at all. So if aliens do exist, they should be sought in another, parallel universe where conditions are better. Dark energy separates us and aliens As we now know, the Universe is constantly expanding. Slowly but surely, galaxies are moving away from each other. And all this is happening thanks to dark energy. Scientists believe that over the course of several trillion years, dark energy will stretch the Universe so much that earthlings will be able to see the light of only the closest galaxies. Aliens don’t live on planets A theory has recently emerged that suggests that alien species do not necessarily need a planet to exist. Scientists believe that colonies of aliens could survive by floating freely in space. Such life forms, scientists believe, could exist in thin, transparent, solid shells where the temperature and pressure are maintained at an acceptable level. And we have not found such aliens because this species simply has no means of communication with the outside world. Aliens ‘trapped’ on super-Earths Planets that are 2-10 times larger than Earth are called super-Earths and there are many of them in space. At the same time, some rocky worlds may have suitable conditions for the development of intelligent life. If aliens live on such planets, then, as some scientists believe, we will never see them. It is just that the gravity of such a planet is so strong that space travel becomes impossible. A rocket simply cannot take off into space. Aliens Caused Climate Change and Died Another theory suggests that any highly advanced civilization could eventually consume so much energy that it uses up all the planet’s resources, causing catastrophic climate change. This scenario would inevitably lead to mass extinction. So if aliens exist, they’ve long since disappeared, having likely destroyed themselves long before we started looking for them. The aliens couldn’t evolve fast enough and disappeared There may be a huge number of habitable planets in the Universe, but there is no guarantee that all of them will remain so for a long time, so that life could arise and, most importantly, evolve on them. That is, potential aliens have only a few hundred million years to develop before their planet changes. On any rocky planet, periods of strong cooling and strong heat periodically occur, scientists believe, so aliens may simply not have had time to reach the necessary level of development for space travel and disappeared as a result of another planetary climate catastrophe. So perhaps the expansion of the Universe is preventing us from detecting aliens that are constantly moving away from us and have no way to travel too great distances. We are aliens Another strange explanation for the fact that we haven’t found aliens is that we are them. The panspermia hypothesis states that most of the life we have on Earth today did not originate on our planet, but arrived on asteroids that carried bacteria from other worlds. Some proponents of this theory suggest that humans evolved from creatures that came from other parts of our galaxy. But there is no evidence for this yet. Opponents of this theory say that if bacteria carrying human DNA evolved on another nearby planet, why have we not found traces of humanity anywhere except Earth? But even if this is true, where are all the other aliens, if they exist? The post Weird Theories on Why We Haven’t Found Extraterrestrial Intelligence appeared first on Anomalien.com.

CBS Turns to Ex-LBJ Aide/Historian Doris Kearns Goodwin to Spin Hunter Biden Pardon

On Monday’s CBS Mornings Plus, they brought out former Lyndon Johnson assistant Doris Kearns Goodwin to assess Joe Biden’s pardon of his son Hunter. The 81-year-old Democrat was promoted as a nonpartisan expert, as a “Pulitzer Prize-winning historian” with six best-sellers. They oddly compared the Hunter pardon to Gerald Ford pardoning President Nixon and Abraham Lincoln pardoning deserters from the Union Army in the Civil War. TONY DOKOUPIL: So let's talk about Joe Biden's pardon of Hunter. You know, I think if there hadn't been so much sanctimony around sort of, this was a miscarriage of justice and this was a raw politics at play, if he just said, I'm a dad, I've already lost one son, I'm 80-something years old, I'm not going to lose another to prison time, so I'm doing it. How would it go over if he did that? This framing completely overlooks the fact that Hunter Biden was a cash cow for the entire Biden family. It pretends there was no self-interest in Biden's actions beyond being nice to his troubled boy. But she agreed:   DORIS KEARNS GOODWIN: I couldn't agree with you more. If he simply did it as an act of mercy and people understood his family situation, how much they'd been through and that it was a crime that not normally would be one of going to jail, a gun that you didn't even use during addiction, people would have understood it. But I think adding to it the statement that this was a miscarriage of justice and the Justice Department had selective prosecution, it makes the mistrust again in institutions. That's our problem today in the country. TONY DOKOUPIL: That is the problem. DORIS KEARNS GOODWIN: We need trust in a democracy in our institutions. We used to have overwhelming numbers of people believe that government did the right thing at the right time way back in 1978 [sic], 1980s. It started going with Watergate, it started going with Lyndon Johnson and the [Vietnam] credibility gap and now it`s down to less than 20% at some points and you can't run a democracy on that. So to add to the distrust and allow talking points now for President Trump to talk about the January 6th criminals is a complicated thing. Dokoupil surprised a little by adding: “Although wouldn’t pardoning them restore the tranquility of the country a la Hamilton and how might history, it's hard to say, we`re living right through it right now.” Goodwin joked: “To prognosticate about what would happen if he does pardon the January 6th, this is one of the things that Lincoln tells you, better to remain silent and appear a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt.” She repeated "I think it's a very complicated issue."  Democrats now at this late date lament the pardon only because it offers a talking point to Trump for pardoning people who committed "crimes" like walking into the Capitol for ten minutes and taking a selfie for Facebook.

Democrats want to revise Constitution, limit presidential pardon power now that Biden got what he wanted

President Joe Biden gave his felonious son, Hunter Biden, a "full and unconditional" pardon Sunday, absolving him — in the eyes of the state — of a decade's worth of crimes that he both committed and may have committed against the United States of America. In doing so, the Democratic president went back on his word, making clear once again it was never reliable to begin with. Republicans blasted Biden over his hypocrisy as well as the vagueness and breadth of the pardon, which neatly overlapped with the timeline of the Bidens' Burisma scandal — a scandal originally exposed by a report that was strategically censored before the 2020 election and downplayed by a cabal of intelligence officials and the liberal media. While a handful of Democrats proved willing to criticize Biden, others signaled a desire to exploit the outrage over the pardon in order to prevent a Republican president from following suit. Democratic Rep. Gerald Connolly, a member of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, told CNN Monday that "we have to revisit the pardon power in the Constitution." The first clause of Article II Section 2 of the Constitution states, "[The president] shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment." Connolly said that he could sympathize with Biden's "perspective that his son was, you know, subject to vigilante justice," insinuating that congressional investigators' questions about Hunter Biden's scandalous dealings with the Ukrainian company Burisma and other suspect foreign entities were legally illegitimate. 'I don't believe the pardon power should be as broad as it is.' "But having said that, what other father in America has the power to pardon his son or daughter if they're convicted of a crime?" said Connolly. "We've got to circumscribe it so that you don't get to pardon relatives, even if you believe passionately they're innocent or that their cause is just." Connolly refused to condemn either Biden's controversial pardon or former President Bill Clinton's pardon of his drug-trafficking half-brother but proved more than happy to criticize Trump's 2020 pardon of Charles Kushner, Ivanka Trump's father-in-law, calling it an "abuse of power." After Jim Acosta acknowledged Congress is presently powerless to block pardons, Connolly said, "I think we're probably going to have to amend the Constitution because the pardon power is so sweeping." Connolly added, "I don't believe the pardon power should be as broad as it is, and we can clearly see how it can be used and abused even with, you know, righteous cause. No other parent in America has the power to pardon their son or daughter for a crime." 'That is the exact opposite of our national principles of the rule of law, equal justice: that no one can be the judge at his or her own trial.' Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) also suddenly decided to start caring about presidential pardons, tweeting, "Democrats should have been for reforming and curtailing pardon power from Day 1 of the Biden Presidency. As a father, I empathize with President Biden, but we must be the party of reform whether it's about the archaic pardon power, opposing super PACs or broad war powers." Democrats have a tendency to advocate for limits on the president's power to pardon when a Republican president is in office or, in this case, about to take office. Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen (Tenn.), for instance, repeatedly advocated for limiting the president's pardon power during Trump's first term, suggesting in a December 2020 op-ed that the Republican president was so anomalous and self-serving a character as to warrant constitutional revisions. "The broad language used in the Constitution was designed to allow for flexibility, but it also assumes public interest-minded leaders and a respect for institutional norms," wrote Cohen. "With a president unbound by the institutions and norms of our democracy, the ability to pardon himself or herself and his or her family could be abused to create a quasi-hereditary monarchy where the first family is literally beyond the reach of the law. That is the exact opposite of our national principles of the rule of law, equal justice: that no one can be the judge at his or her own trial." Cohen spared Biden from a similar tongue-lashing on Monday, stating, "President Biden has lost one son and would do anything he could for his remaining son. I'm in no way surprised at this pardon since the father-son bond is so strong. It's also clear that Hunter Biden was targeted because he was the son of the President and held to account in ways similarly situated people would not have been." "The pardon power is supposed to be a safety valve against injustice, and I understand why President Biden thought it appropriate in this instance," added the Tennessee Democrat, apparently no longer so worried about the creation of a "quasi-hereditary monarchy." Although sympathetic when a fellow traveler is abusing the power, Cohen signaled a renewed interest in limiting the reform power now that Trump is about to take office, urging his fellow lawmakers to cosponsor and support his constitutional amendment that would "eliminate pardons for the President's self, the President's family, Administration officials and campaign staff, and those who commit crimes on behalf of, for the benefit of, or at the direction of the President." Is Europe close to being conquered? These statistics paint a harrowing picture

When it comes to progressivism, Europe is just a few steps ahead of the United States. While there are many insidious policies contributing to its decline, such as the criminalization of hate speech, its immigration policies are the most outwardly destructive. Several European countries have opened their borders and allowed in millions of immigrants, many of whom hate Western values and the Westerners who live by them. France specifically is going downhill at such a rate that in many ways, it’s beginning to look like a conquered nation. Glenn Beck lists some terrifying statistics. “Over 260 French citizens have been killed in terrorist attacks since 2012.” “There were almost 1,000 anti-Christian hate crimes in France in [2023] alone.” “Earlier this year, a cemetery in Southwest France was vandalized with graffiti written in French and Arabic. The messages included ‘Submit to Allah’ and ‘France is already Allaha’s.”’ “In May at a church in Western France, benches were set on fire and a statue of Mary was beheaded.” “Last week in a town in Northern France, an arsonist burned down another church. This one was built in the 1800s.” “In 2021 the president of the Paris-based Observatory of Religious Heritage reported that a church is destroyed in France every two weeks, with two-thirds of them caused by arson,” but “a new mosque is built every 15 days in France.” Given that there are roughly 6.7 million Muslims in France, which is “about 10% of the French population,” something must be done about these alarming figures. Luckily, President Macron has a plan. Unfortunately, it’s a terrible one. “The centerpiece of Macron’s proposal is to certify and train imams in France. The proposed measure also included offering Arabic instruction in public schools, tightening control on private religious education, limiting homeschooling, and cracking down on speech or activities that contradict so-called Republican values such as gender-segregated hours at municipal swimming pools,” Glenn reads from Foreign Policy. “The Muslims are going to line up for the government teaching … and everything’s going to change,” he says sarcastically. Unfortunately, it’s not just France that’s spiraling toward disaster. It’s Europe as a whole. From a Qatar charity that funds mosque-building in Europe and the conversion of churches into restaurants, gyms, and nightclubs to the catch-and-release policies that are putting illegal immigrant criminals back on the streets, Europe is looking more like a conquered continent with each day that passes. PC gamers are finally using Intel Arc GPUs, according to latest Steam survey

Intel Arc GPUs have appeared in the Steam Hardware Survey for the first time, nearly three years after Intel first announced the lineup. This latest November survey points to a modest increase in Intel Arc adoption, but it appears to be limited to gaming laptops with integrated Intel Arc GPUs, rather than due to a wider success on desktop gaming PCs. It's safe to say that Intel Arc GPUs haven’t quite been accepted as the best graphics cards on laptops or gaming PCs. However, as we found in our Intel Arc A770 review, Intel can now build a competitive lower mid-range GPU, even if it's had a struggle with compatibility issues.
