There's always one person that has to ruin it for everyone... Over the weekend, Kacey Musgraves played a show at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, as part of her current headlining Deeper Well world tour trek. Every night on this tour, she's walked through the crowd at one point to head to the b-stage for a more intimate part of the concert, singing acoustic versions of songs like "Follow Your Arrow" and "The Architect." Obviously, security walks with her and fans on the floor are behind a gate, but it still gives everyone a chance to see her up close, and for Kacey to get to looks some of them in the eye and have a real moment. And while it's typically a really fun part of the show, in Florida a few days ago, it took a turn when a fan got too aggressive and grabbed Kacey's arm and what looked like part of her hair and yanked her back. Several TikTok videos of the incident have gone viral online, and Kacey shared some of them herself on her Instagram stories with a few words about why she was so upset... she also said the fan was lucky she "didn't instinctively swing" with this video: "Btw this is not okay and they're lucky I didn't instinctively swing." According to some comments on the TikTok videos shared by Kacey, the fan was removed from the show, but it still sucks that a great moment was ruined by an overly-excited fan (I'm trying to be nice), who probably let her emotions get the best of her here: "Just because an artist - or any human - is within reach you have zero right to treat them like an object. This was aggressive, was dealt with, and will not be tolerated at my shows. I walk out in the space designated for me to safely move through the crowd so I can connect on a closer level. It's fun until someone has to ruin it." The worst part, though, is that even after the fan grabs Kacey, and Kacey is visibly upset with her, the fan just keeps smiling as if nothing happened. Things like this, or when fans throw things onstage at artists like we've seen time and again, is so frustrating, because it ruins the whole experience for everyone, including the artist. Ultimately, it's just rude and wrong to grab anyone, especially the way this fan did it, when Kacey had no idea it was coming or what was really happening for a second. Like most of us learn in pre-school, it's best to just keep your hands to yourself unless you have permission otherwise, especially with a total stranger... even if it is your favorite singer.
