If You Love Riley Green & Bad Reality TV Then You MUST Watch His Season Of ‘Redneck Island’
Calling all my reality TV lovers.
I feel that girls might be the majority population reading this blog, so ladies, if you are a fan of Bravo, E!, or any sort of Love Is Blind or Survivor type shows, this is right up your alley. I know that for me personally, anything that one might consider "trash TV" is my favorite kind of viewing experience.
Redneck Island's first season aired in 2012 on CMT and was a competition game show hosted by Steve Austin where 24 "rednecks" were dumped on an uninhabited island, and each week, they competed in challenges. By the end of the series, the winner would walk away with $100,000 in cold hard cash.
Now, I am sure you've read up until this point and are thinking, "Okay, so what does this have to do with the byline mentioning Riley Green?"
Well, folks, that would be because the "Worst Way" Alabama heartthrob was, in fact, not only a contestant on season four of Redneck Island, but Riley Green was your season four Redneck Island WINNER.

In 2014, Green made his first step toward stardom by appearing on the CMT reality show. At the time, Green frequently performed at Flora-Bama, trying to figure out how to get his music career off the ground.
"I was playing at Flora-Bama, and a couple guys came up and said, "We’re casting this show for CMT, we want you to be on it." I did it because I thought it could help my music, and I believe it will. If 40,000 people watch it and they mention my music, I believe it’s worth it."
Green recalls being very self-aware that everyone who appears on a reality TV show is not always cast in a positive light. (Cough cough, has anyone seen those gnarly fights on any of the Real Housewives franchises.) However, Green decided it was a good risk to take and signed the contract that would let him be a contestant on the TV show.
When he arrived on Redneck Island, they painted him out the country music jock with the title of "career drinker."
"The bio sort of upset my mom. I mean, she’s not a child; she had an idea about it when we went into it. Matter of fact, when we looked at the contract...the thing that stood out to both of us was 'can portray in a false light.'"
Flash forward to today, and I am sure that "career drinker" is the least of his mom's worries, given women are throwing their panties at him on stage now.
Green claimed on a Bussin' With the Boys podcast episode that he was rather dull on the show and would hang out during the non-competition days versus partying like the rest of his cast. But he says the competitions were tough and challenged you in many ways.
Clearly, that downtime between competition days played to his advantage, given that he and his partner won the whole thing.
While Riley Green was a show winner, surprisingly, he was not the only country music artist who appeared on the series. Jessie James Decker also appeared in the same season as Green.
So, if you're bored at your parent's house over the holiday and want to watch your favorite country artists before they were famous, fire up this season of Redneck Island.
