New Zealand’s Flightless Birds Are Retreating To Extinct Moa Graveyards

Researchers have found that New Zealand’s current endangered flightless bird species are seeking refuge in the places where six species of moa lived before they went extinct. The results could have significant conservation benefits.Moa (Dinornithiformes) are a group of large flightless birds that were once endemic in New Zealand. However, current fossil evidence suggests that the unusual and large raptors went extinct within two centuries of the arrival of humans in their environment, about 800 years ago.According to the new analysis, before the moa went extinct, they retreated to the same cold, isolated mountainous locations where today’s endangered flightless birds are found, such as Mount Aspiring on the South Island, and the Ruahine Range on the North Island.“Populations of moa are likely to have disappeared first from the highest quality lowland habitats that Polynesian colonists preferred, with rates of population declines decreasing with elevation and distance travelled inland,” lead author Dr Sean Tomlinson said in a statement.“By pinpointing the last populations of moa and comparing them with distributions of New Zealand’s living flightless birds, we found that these last havens shelter many of today’s persisting populations of takah, weka and great spotted kiwi”.Tomlinson and colleagues achieved this by combining sophisticated computational models with evidence from the fossil records and paleoclimate information. They also analyzed and reconstructed the movement of humans as they arrived in New Zealand and expanded outwards.“Our research overcame past logistical challenges to trace the population dynamics of six species of moa at resolutions not considered possible before,” added senior author Dr Damien Fordham.“Our research shows that despite large differences in the ecology, demography and timing of extinction of moa species, their distributions collapsed and converged on the same areas on New Zealand’s North and South Islands.”Although the factors that are driving the decline of New Zealand’s existing native flightless birds are different from those that impacted the moa, this research shows that their spatial dynamics are extremely similar.“The key commonality among past and current refugia is not that they are optimal habitats for flightless birds, but that they continue to be the last and least impacted by humanity,” fellow author Dr Jamie Wood explained."Like earlier waves of Polynesian expansion, habitat conversion by Europeans across New Zealand, and the spread of the animals they brought, was directional, progressing from lowland sites to the less hospitable, cold, mountainous regions.”The research also offers valuable new tools for understanding past extinctions on these islands where fossil and archaeological data is limited, but also demonstrates how even long-extinct species could offer insights for conservation efforts today. Now, more than ever, it is crucial that people in New Zealand – and elsewhere – protect the remote wild places where endangered animals seek refuge. The study is published in Nature Ecology & Evolution.

One Twin Going Vegan While The Other Ate Meat Revealed A Curious Shift In Biological Age

A new study has looked into the influence of switching to a vegan diet in twins, finding that even a short-term change in meal choices appeared to alter biological markers of aging. The observational study raises interesting questions about the influence of diet on biological age, including what the long and short-term effects of a switch to a vegan diet are, and whether excluding meat or lowering calories is a more significant contributing factor. The small study enrolled 21 twins to observe what changes occurred when one followed a vegan diet while the other ate an omnivorous diet – that included meat – for two months. Specifically, the authors were looking at changes in the levels of DNA methylation, which refers to the way epigenetics alters how our genes are expressed. As a general rule, increased DNA methylation is considered a marker of aging.DNA methylation can be analyzed by taking blood samples, and so these were collected from the study participants at baseline and the eight-week mark. These were then compared to see if and how participants on the vegan versus omnivorous diet changed over the two months. The twins that were allocated a vegan diet showed a reduction in biological age, as well as a reduction in the aging markers for heart, hormone, liver, and inflammatory and metabolic systems. This reduction was not seen in the twins who ate an omnivorous diet, so why was that?               As an observational study, the experiment can’t assume cause and effect, meaning the authors can’t say for certain that the change in biological age can be attributed to a vegan diet. Another possible explanation comes down to weight loss, as those who went on a vegan diet lost, on average, two kilograms of weight from the start of the study to the end. While it’s interesting to observe a reduction in biological age after only a short period of time, the length of the study also means that the long-term effects of dietary shifts weren’t included.“Unless a vegan diet is supplemented with vitamin B12 they develop vitamin B12 deficiency that causes chronic and often insidious damage to the nervous system,” said Tom Sanders, Professor Emeritus of Nutrition and Dietetics, King’s College London (KCL), in a Science Media Centre release. “Long-term observational studies of vegans also find adverse effects on bone density that is probably caused by very low calcium and marginally adequate protein intakes.”“Although, observational studies indicate that vegan diets may have favourable effects on health in middle-age (such as a lower risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes), this is not the case in older vegans who seem more likely to suffer from muscle loss, low bone density and neurological disorders which have a significant impact on the quality of life. Indeed, life-expectancy does not differ in vegans compared with those who select mixed diets.”Furthermore, there is no guarantee that altering DNA methylation will lead to a longer life. When it comes to observational studies and longevity, you could do worse than to take a look into the lifestyle of people living in the Blue Zones. The study is published in BMC Medicine.

Physicists Edge Closer to Understanding the Origin of Matter

Physicists have recreated the conditions of the early Universe in a particle accelerator by smashing atoms together at nearly the speed of light. This approach allowed them to determine which parts of matter were created in the moments immediately following the Big Bang and which appeared later. The study, published in the journal Physics Letters B, revealed that more matter was formed later than previously expected. At the dawn of its existence, the Universe was a searing mixture of subatomic particles. While the temperature in the Sun’s core is around 15 million degrees Celsius, the early Universe was approximately 250,000 times hotter. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator. It consists of a 27-kilometre ring of superconducting magnets. Ordinary matter, which constitutes everything around us, is composed of protons and neutrons. However, the early Universe’s extreme temperatures prevented these particles from forming. The collisions of atoms in a particle accelerator enable scientists to understand precisely how matter was created at the Universe’s inception. Known particles were formed either from quark and gluon collisions or from subsequent particle collisions. These later collisions began occurring 0.000001 seconds after the Big Bang, as quark-made particles started interacting with each other. In the 1990s, physicists discovered that some particles were abundantly formed due to later collisions following the Universe’s initial formation phase. D-mesons, for instance, can interact to create the exceedingly rare charmonium particle, which is composed of two-quark mesons. The results of the new experiment indicated that over 70% of the measured charmonium could be formed from later particle collision reactions. The number of measured particles formed in such reactions was significantly higher than expected. This finding suggests that the majority of matter in the Universe may have originated from later particle collisions rather than from the initial subatomic particle collisions occurring moments after the Big Bang. This discovery enhances our knowledge of the origin of matter. It helps determine how much matter was created in the first fractions of a second after the Big Bang, compared to how much matter was created by later reactions as the Universe expanded. Secret Service never used local police radios furnished for Trump rally coordination, senator says

Local law enforcement provided radios to the U.S. Secret Service for cross-agency coordination during the July 13 Donald J. Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, but the Secret Service never used them, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) said July 28. Johnson also disclosed that counter-sniper teams “acquired” would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks in their rifle scopes only after Crooks fired on former President Trump at 6:11 p.m. “We also have it confirmed that the radios that local law enforcement gave the Secret Service sniper teams were never used by the Secret Service,” Johnson said on "Fox News Sunday." The communications problems before and during Trump’s appearance at the Butler Farm Show Inc. fairgrounds had fatal consequences, Johnson said. “So again, all of the communication was channeled,” Johnson said. “The sniper and the SWAT teams were on different communications channels than the patrol officers, different communications channels from Secret Service, all funneled in through a central communications system, which obviously delayed things and allowed this tragedy to happen.” 'We had no communication with the Secret Service.' Johnson, the ranking member on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, said counter-snipers did not acquire Crooks as a target until after he opened fire on Trump and the rally crowd just after 6:11 p.m. "They acquired him after the shots were fired," Johnson said. "But again, we need detailed interviews with those individuals to find out exactly what happened. It’s unbelievable how little information has been coming from federal law enforcement.” During the early part of Trump's rally speech on July 13, a bullet cut a hole in his right ear from an AR-15 rifle shot by Crooks from approximately 130 yards north of the stage. Crooks got off seven more shots — killing retired Pennsylvania fire chief Corey Comperatore and seriously wounding two other men — before he was killed by a Secret Service counter-sniper. The biggest security failure in Secret Service history has launched at least seven congressional and law-enforcement investigations and led to the resignation of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle. Johnson said photographs taken of Crooks by a counter-sniper near the American Glass Research Building 6 at 5:14 p.m. were received by the Secret Service well before the shooting. The counter-sniper who took the photos first noticed Crooks at 5:10 p.m., according to a preliminary shooting timeline released by Johnson's office. The event command center, which included Secret Service officers, acknowledged receipt of the photos of Crooks at 5:55 p.m., 16 minutes before Crooks fired the first shot, the timeline document stated. A local police sniper took photos of would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks at a retaining wall of the building he used as a perch to shoot former President Donald J. Trump on July 13. Photos via U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin) Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) released text messages between a local counter-sniper and his colleagues, given to Grassley by the counter-sniper, indicating that police were aware of Crooks' presence as a suspicious person at 4:26 p.m., some 44 minutes earlier than originally reported. First published in the New York Times July 28, the texts from a counter-sniper leaving after his duty shift indicated that he saw Crooks sitting at a picnic table. The officer said Crooks saw him come out of the two-story building just behind Building 6 where Crooks later launched his rifle assault, a text said. "He knows you guys are up there," one text read. Investigators from the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations have gotten most of their information so far from local law enforcement, Johnson said. The subcommittee contacted seven local and state law enforcement agencies asking for materials related to the assassination attempt. “We want a detailed timeline," Johnson said. "We need all of their communications, both the written emails, texts, but also we need voice recordings of any verbal communications." A July 30 joint hearing of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and the Senate Judiciary Committee will hear from Secret Service Acting Director Ronald L. Rowe Jr. and FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate. The hearing will be chaired by U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.). Rowe will have his work cut out for him. “He has an awful lot to explain," Johnson said. There was virtually no coordination between the Secret Service and local law enforcement on July 13, according to a source with direct knowledge of the rally timeline who spoke to Blaze News on the condition of anonymity. Some Secret Service operators were distracted during the key minutes leading up to the shooting, the source said. “They did not have briefings, rehearsals, or contingency discussions. No all-hands-on-deck briefings," the source said. Two SWAT officers look down at the body of would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks just before 7 p.m. July 13. The Butler, Pa., rally location that Crooks shot into with a rifle, striking former President Donald J. Trump, is seen in the background. Beaver County Emergency Services Unit SWAT via Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) “Also, many of the surveillance teams were on their phones, texting and scrolling when the shots were fired, while guys from the counter-assault team and counter-sniper team standing post were doing their jobs," the source said. "If those phone records can be subpoenaed, you’ll be able to learn who wasn’t paying attention." The source previously said counter-sniper teams had Crooks in their scopes before the shooting but had to "deconflict" via radio to make sure they were not firing on a police officer. "The police counter-sniper team saw him, had him in their sights but wanted to deconflict before they fired because that roof was supposed to have a counter-sniper team on it," the source said. "The whole plan and the pre-briefing all got messed up once the event started. So it was a clusterf**k before that assassin showed up." 'That’s a shocking piece of information.' Those types of communication problems were echoed by a Beaver County law enforcement officer who appeared on ABC News July 28. “We were supposed to get a face-to-face briefing with the Secret Service snipers whenever they arrived, and that never happened," the unidentified officer said. "I think that that was probably a pivotal point where I started thinking things were wrong because that never happened. We had no communication with the Secret Service." A whistleblower earlier reported to U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) that the Building 6 roof was supposed to have a police officer on it. “There was supposed to be a law-enforcement presence on the roof that day,” Hawley wrote in a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. “In fact, the whistleblower alleges that at least one individual was specifically assigned to the roof for the duration of the rally, but this person abandoned his or her post due to the hot weather.” Johnson said he also intends to make sure Rowe answers an allegation from former Secret Service agent and now radio and podcast host Dan Bongino, who reported that the Secret Service was not sending counter-snipers to Trump events unless the location was within driving distance of Washington, D.C. “That is a stunning piece of information, that counter-snipers were not being sent to Donald Trump events if it wasn’t drivable from Washington, D.C.," Bongino said on the July 26 episode of "The Dan Bongino Show." "That’s a shocking piece of information.” 'Crooks was a left-wing partisan who hated President Trump’s immigration policies.' Bongino was critical of Sen. Johnson for praising the acting Secret Service director after Rowe gave a closed-door briefing to senators on July 25. Bongino said Rowe was one of the Secret Service officials involved in denying Trump campaign requests for security upgrades at campaign events. “This guy’s life is being put in danger because — what? You’re trying to save on airplane tickets?” Bongino said on his radio program. While information on Crooks' possible motivation and personal politics has been sketchy, the CEO of the social network Gab disclosed an account that could have belonged to Crooks that expressed support for President Joe Biden on COVID-19 lockdowns and immigration at the southern border. The account under the handle @epicMicrowave posted nine comments on Gab between Jan. 20 and Feb. 4, 2021. Gab CEO Andrew Torba disclosed the account 30 minutes after he said Gab received an "emergency disclosure request." "Yesterday, in the process of responding to an emergency disclosure request from a U.S. law enforcement agency, Gab learned that a pro-Biden/Harris account on the site was believed to have belonged to Thomas Matthew Crooks, who attempted to assassinate President Trump," Torba wrote July 25. "After backing up the account, we notified the public." — (@) "Gab.com has published the first evidence making it very apparent that Crooks was a left-wing partisan who hated President Trump’s immigration policies — noting that the shooter fired on President Trump when he started talking about those same policies," Torba wrote. "This raises the possibility, for the first time, that his attempted assassination of President Trump was the latest instance of a wider pattern of left-wing domestic terrorism that has plagued our country since the summer of 2020." Torba said while Gab has been "unable to confirm that the account in question actually belonged to him," the company has "saved the account data pending receipt of a search warrant." After sharing the possible Crooks account information, Torba said July 26 that Gab's credit-card processing system "came under attack by the Regime 48 hours after we broke this story. We are in danger of losing our ability to process online payments, again. Please pray that we are able to sort it out." Torba had not shared an update on the situation as of early July 29. 4 tweets from Conor McGregor about Ireland’s immigrant crisis that will ring true for Americans

According to his X presence, UFC legend Conor McGregor is just as much of a fighter outside the Octagon as he is inside it. The professional mixed martial artist has become quite the spokesperson for the political injustices going on in his home country of Ireland, where there’s been an immigrant crisis much like the one ravaging the United States. Dave Rubin analyzes four tweets the fighter has recently blasted out in response to the Irish government — “33rd Dáil Éireann” — allowing the country to cave under the weight of immigrant crime. This Pushed Conor McGregor Over the Edge & This Is Who He Blames www.youtube.com — (@) — (@) These tweets come in response to an asylum-seeker named Adel Kerai, who “sexually assaulted a young woman in Dublin City” just days after his arrival. Kerai also had four previous convictions from the U.K. Sounds like many stories we’ve heard from the U.S. In another tweet, McGregor pointed out more immigrant crime — in this case, a foreigner taking pictures of children in a supermarket. — (@) “How many of the people that will do that sort of thing or rape these women or anything else are dancing around burning American flags in D.C.?” Dave asks, referencing the recent pro-Hamas rally on Capitol Hill. — (@) “That is where we are all at,” agrees Dave. 'Dear Kelly' fails to heal its MAGA misfit's 'trauma'

Andrew Callaghan is Gen Z’s favorite gonzo journalist, or was, at least, before he got canceled early last year for “sexual misconduct.” The cancellation came shortly after HBO premiered Callaghan’s feature film debut, “This Place Rules,” a documentary about the 2020 presidential election. It gave Callaghan a bigger budget to do the same man-on-the-street videos that first elevated him on YouTube, where he still has 2.7 million followers. As we learned from "Hawk Tuah Girl," man-on-the-street is as big among Gen Z as prior generations, only they consume it via the scroll. Isaac Simpson But Callaghan isn’t your average man-on-the-streeter. He goes deeper and farther into “real life” than other YouTubers. He approaches the kind of characters more cautious interviewers avoid, the kind you would assume have no incentive whatsoever to appear on camera: Antifa foot soldiers, rioters, drug dealers, homeless people. And yet they talk to Callaghan; there’s something about Callaghan’s awkward, innocent, pimply-faced teenage demeanor that slices through barriers. He’s the opposite of Alex Jones, who is all libido, id, and agenda: concave. Callaghan takes it all in, he listens intently, doesn’t judge: convex. Then there’s his editorial genius. I love Werner Herzog because his documentaries are about everything besides the subject. The camera always lingers a bit too long. The interviewee breaks character. Maybe something occurs behind them. We see something we weren’t supposed to see. These little ironies make the audience belly-laugh, or they move us with great power — strange synchronicities that make us feel less alone. Indeed, the first part of Callaghan’s new documentary, “Dear Kelly,” is filled with these Herzog-ian moments — as when an onlooker trips and falls at the exact moment a woke interview subject says something grating — and the result is total gonzo brilliance. Callaghan has a tendency to drink beer and interview subjects in bathrooms, a trend he keeps up throughout the movie. At one point and “because reasons,” he throws a big party at Chico State, where he gets many awesome drunk bathroom interviews in which he himself seems nicely wasted, which comes off as endearing. At the party we also witness a fistfight, which seems to genuinely excite Andrew; we, the audience, see his danger-seeking edge. But within fifteen rapid cuts of the fight, the two bloodied fighters drunkenly hug it out. You see this in Hollywood comedies, but very rarely do you see the real thing. “Dear Kelly” is a short, immaculately edited, feature-length documentary about a man named Kelly J. Patriot, one of those sign-waving MAGA enthusiasts you see in all the protest videos. His favorite flagpole can fit four flags on it. In one moment, Callaghan shows us one of Kelly’s heart-wrenching home videos from the 1990s, a time before his life was consumed by obsession. The camera freezes perfectly on a retro can of Bud Light. The audience immediately understood the reference and roared with laughter. In another moment, Callaghan interviews Kelly’s kids, lesbian daughter and White Boy Summer-coded son together. The son goes off on a slight tangent “... not that I don’t love capitalism, but …” and the daughter cringes, starts to interject, then stops herself. A beautiful sibling moment in 2024, reflective of the most politically polarized generation yet, in which the men and women are straying apart in unprecedented fashion I saw the film at the Wiltern in Los Angeles on the last night of its 38-city premiere tour. I felt ancient amid what appeared to be a sold-out crowd of 2,300 Zoomers in their casual Sunday Dodgers hats. My very pregnant wife’s belly seemed to stick out another foot or so, garnering looks or intentional ignores from the sea of scuzzy kids. I haven’t seen so many “young people” in one place since last time I ended up at trending Silverlake cocktail bar Tenants of the Trees, and it was a similar crowd. Everyone dressed like they’re in a Macklemore video. Many seem nonbinary. Touring a documentary release like a concert is a genius idea for a scroll star — a way to monetize your audience for its full value, so the social platforms don’t drink all your milkshake. Callaghan himself introduced the film, and certain elements were tweaked to be Los Angeles-specific. At the beginning of the screening, a QuickTime screen reading “Dear Kelly LA Cut” was dragged across a desktop to the center of the screen. Callaghan said, “We just exported the L.A. cut 15 minutes ago,” and the whole janky DIY vibe drew great cheers from the audience. At one point, the show stopped and a rapper named Uncle Bill, featured in the documentary, performed live on stage. Other clever “utility” plays included mystery bundles for sale on the website and a moderated Q&A with Callaghan after the show, which we couldn’t stay for because we had to relieve the babysitter. Isaac Simpson Initial publicity for “Dear Kelly” suggested it would be about Kelly J. Patriot “ saving Callaghan’s life.” And in its early sections, the film does seem as though it’s working up to a sympathetic, or at least nuanced, portrayal of Trump supporters. The film opens on what is supposed to be a “White Lives Matter” rally in Huntington Beach, where Callaghan encounters Kelly J. Patriot. It’s a truly incredible scene, epic in scale. Antifa “counter-protesters” mob an intersection, waiting for the marching army of white supremacists, which of course never shows up, having failed to materialize from the fevered imagination of the media. The only person who does show up? Kelly J. Patriot, waiving his quartet of MAGA flags. Kelly doesn’t even know why he’s there. It’s Callaghan who has to tell him about the “White Lives Matter” rally; Kelly just heard there was a chance to protest. The counter-protesters are happy to oblige Kelly with a thorough beating. It’s one against a hundred. Kelly’s bloody but unbowed. You get the sense that this is exactly what he came for. Callaghan lets this scene play out transparently — no spin. Thus the media comes off as culpable, and Antifa, who are exactly the type of fat, mouth-frothing dysgenic freaks the right thinks they are, come off as dangerous, disturbing bullies. The cops look bad too. They end up ignoring the Antifa troops and arresting Kelly instead, for “wielding a weapon,” e.g. his giant flagpole. Kelly looks like the hero. Callaghan also takes a jab at cringey media libs when he reveals that “This Place Rules” producers pressured him to make a heartfelt speech in support of Biden for the film, which made him deeply uncomfortable. We see a clip of him attempting to do their bidding, which feels pure 1984. Callaghan seems poised to confront biases about Trump and the fervor he inspires. Maybe beneath their lowbrow political theatrics, these MAGA people have as profound an understanding of America as the liberals who find them so alarming. Maybe they’re on to something. Isaac Simpson Unfortunately, the honesty with which Callaghan first portrays Kelly soon turns patronizing . The plot hinges upon a surprising answer Kelly gives to Callaghan’s usual open-ended questioning. Kelly reveals that it’s not necessarily political fervor that drives him, but hatred of a predatory lender named Bill Joiner who screwed him over. Callaghan, smartly, seizes on this bit of information and pursues it. Zeroing in on the topic of Joiner allows Callaghan to get to know Kelly. It also provides Callaghan with the thesis that gives the movie its structure — political obsessives like Kelly are actually driven by a past trauma that deprived them of their Maslowian needs — home, safety, family, etc. Sure enough, it turns out that Kelly lost his home and family to Joiner, whom he now obsessively stalks. His obsession with attending MAGA street protests is a kind of extension of his obsession with Joiner. Joiner and the evil regime MAGA purports to fight aren’t exactly one and the same in Kelly’s mind, but they’re definitely related. As Callaghan and Kelly become what you might call friends, Callaghan decides to take Kelly’s claims seriously enough to begin investigating Joiner. And here is where Callaghan’s genius begins to give way to his youth. While the duo’s search for Joiner allows for a fun interlude in which they dress up in ghillie suits to approach their quarry’s home, it ultimately proves unsuccessful. Not finding Joiner is a huge narrative problem, at least if Callaghan wants to do justice to Kelly as a character. As a filmmaker, Callaghan had three choices at this point: 1) admit you don’t have enough for a feature and move on to something else; 2) pivot to exposing the absurdity of Kelly being unable to trace or contact the man who had him evicted from his home; or 3) double down on your thesis: that it’s really all Kelly coping with his trauma. He chooses number three, and the film falls apart. The quick, funny takes are replaced with long, boring speeches full of therapy-speak. There’s nothing about Kelly saving Callaghan’s life, besides a quick reference to Kelly calling Callaghan after he was canceled. In fact, “Dear Kelly” is more accurately described as Callaghan throwing his unlikely friend under the bus. Callaghan clearly reveals our country as a place where an angry mob of “protesters” are free to physically assault a man for displaying a flag and where police are free to arrest that same man after deeming his flag a “weapon.” And Kelly’s the one who’s driven by psychotic delusions? Concluding that “trauma” is Kelly’s problem lets Callaghan and his audience avoid pondering any uncomfortable political solutions: We just need to get this poor guy some therapy. Callaghan’s timidity as a filmmaker inadvertently results in an incisive portrayal of his generation. At their core, they’re what we’d call “post left,” bulls**t-resistant and not easily swayed by the usual appeals to the Big Boomer Stories about oppression, Whig history, and Good Versus Evil. They dislike being told what to think and say and admire those who express the blunt truth, no matter who it offends. They also don’t shy away from traditional displays of masculinity, like the kind of public brawling unthinkable to your average Millennial yuppie. And yet, much like “Dear Kelly” itself, this rough-and-tumble exterior conceals a soft, gooey center. All of the misbehavior comes with a disclaimer: No matter what we do to you, we’re still the victims. Yes, we may be ugly, we may be violent, we may believe the craziest sh** and think nothing of caving your head in with a bike lock. It simply can’t be helped, you see, because of our trauma.
