Reid Hoffman, the tech mogul known for co-founding LinkedIn, is reportedly orchestrating a major funding initiative to support Vice President Kamala Harris’s bid for the presidency. He is said to be rallying Silicon Valley’s elite to amass around $100 million for her campaign. However, Hoffman’s support comes with specific demands: he is pressing for the dismissal of Lina Khan, the FTC’s leading antitrust official who has been cracking down on Big Tech monopolies. Hoffman has also been vocal about his disdain for current tariffs and his preference for the US to revert to its longstanding free trade policies, which he discussed in a CNN interview. CNN reporter Matt Egan highlighted Hoffman’s specific grievances against FTC Chair Lina Khan, whom he accused of harming American businesses. His stance was reiterated in a 2021 Washington Post interview, underscoring his view that antitrust actions are detrimental to innovation. The New York Times suggested that Harris might be yielding to pressure from influential donors like Hoffman concerning the FTC’s leadership. While Harris has supported regulatory measures in areas like artificial intelligence, she reportedly harbors doubts about Khan’s aggressive antitrust approach. Lina Khan, appointed as the Chair of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in June 2021, has significantly reshaped the agency’s approach towards antitrust and competition, especially concerning Big Tech companies. Since her appointment, Khan has spearheaded aggressive regulatory actions aimed at curbing the dominance of major technology firms, reflecting a broader shift towards more stringent antitrust enforcement in the digital economy. Whether deliberately or not, TV journalists have been defending Kamala Harris using language that closely resembles list slip of DNC talking points which was leaked to FOX news this week. This week, a slip of paper, which allegedly contained talking points for Democrats to deploy in reference to Vice President Kamala Harris’s border record, was leaked on social media. According to Outkick, at least one Democrat lawmaker has confirmed the veracity of the document, pictured below: Interestingly, these talking points are almost identical to what TV journalists have been saying all week about Kamala Harris’s role as border czar for the Biden administration. As NewsBusters previously reported, the media have been aggressively denying that said role was ever conferred onto the Vice President — and that denial also happens to appear at the very top of the leaked list. Additionally, the notion that Republicans invented the title of “border czar” for her, as well as the argument that Harris was tasked solely with determining and addressing the “root causes” of illegal immigration, are also present on the list. After years of dismissing the issue of Big Tech censorship, House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jerry Nadler (D-NY) found out that censorship is no joke after it impacted his party’s presidential candidate.  In a letter to Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), Nadler asked the Republican lawmaker to support his investigation of alleged limits placed on Vice President Kamala Harris’s X account. “Numerous users have recently reported being blocked from following Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign handle @KamalaHQ,” Nadler wrote.  Tried to follow the @KamalaHQ account & X gave me the below message & blocked me from following: Bizarre. I follow under 1,000 people. pic.twitter.com/PY85vdeIIi — Alyssa Farah Griffin (@Alyssafarah) July 22, 2024 Nadler was sure to remind Jordan about the Ohio congressman’s unwavering pro-free speech stance. “Given your long track record of fighting against political discrimination on the platform ‘town squares’ of American discourse, I trust that you will join me in requesting additional information from X regarding this apparent censorship of a candidate for President of the United States,” the New York congressman added.  Tellingly, Nadler ignored the fact that he has repeatedly criticized his colleague for said track record and dismissed the issue of Big Tech censorship. In 2023, for instance, Nadler dismissed Twitter Files’ evidence that blatantly pointed to the FBI’s collusion with Twitter to censor Americans’ free speech.  “The Republicans will make false claims about the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force, claiming that it is somehow censoring conservatives,” Nadler retorted at the time. “According to committee Republicans, the Task Force’s efforts to track and prevent foreign influence operations amount to attacks on conservative speech.”   He went on to label this censorship concern  a “nonsensical claim, considering that the Foreign Influence Task Force has nothing to do with censoring American free speech, and in fact, helps to ensure that American voices are heard by stopping Russian troll farms.” In 2018, Nadler also attempted to derail a House Judiciary Committee hearing inquiring about censorship and content curation on Facebook, Twitter, Google Search and YouTube. Instead, he made a motion to discuss the Mueller report investigating former President Donald Trump’s alleged ties to Russia in 2016. Conservatives are under attack. An ongoing FBI investigation into Democratic Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao has recently expanded to the local police department, according to multiple local reports. Meanwhile, Thao is simultaneously facing an upcoming recall election later this year.While no charges have been filed at this time, federal agents raided Thao's home last month, seizing her phone and computer. The FBI also took electronic devices belonging to Andre Jones, Thao's partner, who has worked in politics for decades, according to Oaklandside. 'This is significant.'During a press conference, Thao previously claimed that the ongoing federal investigation was "not about" her. As part of the probe, the FBI also raided three other properties linked to the politically influential Duong family, known for owning California Waste Solutions, a recycling company.It is unclear what potential crimes the FBI is investigating; however, reports have speculated that the probe may be regarding a campaign contribution laundering scheme.Federal investigators have since demanded phone directory records from the Oakland Police Department, Oaklandside reported. The city must also produce documents showing all federal funding sources since 2021.The FBI's subpoena requested "all Oakland Police Department reports made by or involving any member of the Duong family" since April 2024.Professor Greg Woods, with the Department of Justice Studies at San Jose State University, told KABC-TV, "This is significant because we appear to be entertaining a massive corruption investigation that is currently under way by the grand jury, at the instruction of the Department of Justice."He noted that the FBI's requests for records from the police department do not necessarily indicate that it is being investigated for wrongdoing but rather that federal agents may be trying to uncover instances in which victims have filed complaints and to piece together a timeline."They would call the Oakland Police Department to report such an encounter, such as potential victimization," Woods added. "To, in fact, charge somebody with a crime and place them into custody. And then to continue this judicial process to hold individuals accountable."Thao has maintained that she has done nothing wrong.Neither the FBI nor the Oakland Police Department responded to KABC's request for comment.Oakland residents, fed up with the area's crime and homelessness crisis due to progressive policies imposed by local leaders, have successfully secured enough signatures to force a recall election for Thao and Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price (D), Blaze News previously reported.Like Blaze News?
