Did You Deck The Halls Early? Here’s What That Says About You, According To An Expert

One of the most controversial topics today is when to put up your Christmas decorations. Are you the kind who puts them up the second November 1 hits? Or are you more inclined to have a turkey dinner first and decorate post-Thanksgiving? The people who like to put up their Christmas decorations early might, in fact, be happier. Science says so, and who are we to argue? The scientific correlation between Christmas and happiness makes a lot of sense. Good Morning America spoke to Amy Morin, a psychotherapist and author of 13 Things Mentally Strong People Do, and she said when we documented, “Thinking of those happy memories stirs up happy feelings.” Christmas Decorations Remind Many People Of Their Childhoods A core memory for many is the rush to run to the tree on Christmas morning. When we put up our decorations, we’re back in that kind of moment. “When you’re putting up decorations, you’re thinking of happier times, times with family and friends and family traditions you engaged in,” Amy told GMA. “For some people, it’s bittersweet — if family members are no longer here — but it’s still a way to connect.” It’s not just what happens to us when we put up our Christmas decorations; it can have a positive effect on those around us, too. “[Decorations] can lead to more positive conversations and they’re an easy way to strike up a conversation,” Amy said. “It helps build a sense of community and belonging and all those things are associated with happiness too.” If decorating your home and putting up Christmas decorations early brings you joy, then deck your halls as soon as you can. If you want to wait until Thanksgiving is over, that’s fine, too. Your family traditions are your own, just remember, don’t be a Grinch. This story’s featured image can be found here. Starving Penguin Rescued From Australian Beach Has Happy Update

Three weeks after a family found an emperor penguin on the beach in the Australian town of Denmark, he’s returning home. Jazz Bailey shared a video on Facebook of the penguin who somehow made it 2,000 miles from home. Although seeing him waddling on the sand was cute, experts knew they had to get him back to his natural habitat. According to the Associated Press, the Western Australia state government shared that the penguin, nicknamed Gus, was released from a Parks and Wildlife Service boat into the ocean. View this post on Instagram A post shared by 9News Perth (@9newsperth) The Penguin Appeared Ill When He Got To Australia Carol Biddulph, a registered wildlife caregiver, nursed Gus back to good health before he was released into the ocean. “I really didn’t know whether he was going to make it to begin with because he was so undernourished,” Carol shared. Carol named the penguin Gus after the first Roman emperor, Augustus. She said being with the penguin in Australia was an incredible time. “I’ll miss Gus. It’s been an incredible few weeks, something I wouldn’t have missed,” Carol added. According to the AP, when caregivers rescued Gus, he weighed just 47 pounds. When they released him back into the water, he weighed 54 pounds. A healthy Emperor penguin can weigh more than 100 pounds. Jazz, who originally shared a video of Gus on the beach on Facebook, also shared a video of his release. The mom wrote about the incredible experience of meeting Gus, the penguin, in Australia, which was for her family. “Big Impact. Our interaction with Gus had a big impact on us and clearly the rest of the world too. The one thing that I have been reflecting on is just his existence alone is what was so impactful. It reminded me that our own existence can also be impactful to the world by being truly ourselves. May the magic of the ocean guide you home,” she wrote. This ‘MAD’ Censorship Bill was Dead on Arrival

An Australian censorship bill went up in smoke over the weekend after it received abysmal support from the Australian Senate. The Australian government announced Sunday that it had withdrawn a bill that would have fined tech platforms up to 5 percent their of global revenue if they allowed the spread of alleged “misinformation” online, Reuters reported. Opposition Spokesman and member of Parliament David Coleman said in a statement that “This bill would have had the effect of suppressing the free speech of everyday Australians, as platforms would have censored online content to avoid the threat of big fines.” He went so far as to say that the bill “betrayed our democracy.”   Opposition leader Peter Dutton also highlightedthe fact that the failed legislation aimed “to make government and unelected bureaucrats the arbiters of truth." Reuters noted that the bill was part of a “wide-ranging regulatory crackdown” in response to Government leaders’ complaints that foreign tech giants were “overriding” Australia’s sovereignty. Communications Minister Michelle Rowland touted the anti-speech legislation, even asserting it would have “ushered in an unprecedented level of transparency” and halted “the spread of harmful misinformation and disinformation online.” However, even Rowland had to admit that “Based on public statements and engagements with Senators, it is clear that there is no pathway to legislate this proposal through the Senate.”  Free speech advocates praised the news. Twitter Files journalist Michael Shellenberger posted on X, “Free Speech Victory in Australia! It's official: the [Prime Minister Albanese] censorship bill is dead. Congratulations to Aus free speech lovers and warriors!” In another X post, Mario Nawfal, host of “The Round Table Show,”  touted the bill’s demise and quoted X owner Elon Musk, who called the legislation “fascist.”  Meanwhile, Australian Sen. Matt Canavan rejoiced in the free speech win. “A TOTAL FREE SPEECH VICTORY in the Senate today. Not a single Senator supported the Government's anti-democratic misinformation bill. The MAD* bill is dead!” He added, “The defeat was so momentous that nothing like this bill should ever be brought forward before the Australian people. Thank you again to everyone who took up the fight and delivered this beautiful victory.” *MAD is an acronym for misinformation and disinformation. Conservatives are under attack. Contact your representatives and demand that Big Tech be held to account to mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency, clarity on “hate speech” and equal footing for conservatives. If you have been censored, contact us using CensorTrack’s contact form, and help us hold Big Tech accountable.
