The final outstanding U.S. Senate race is officially over. Long-time Sen. Bob Casey Jr. (D-PA) finally conceded in the race against Pennsylvania Senator-elect Dave McCormick. “During my time in office, I have been guided by an inscription on the Finance Building in Harrisburg: ‘All public service is a trust, given in faith and accepted in honor,'” Casey Jr. said. “Thank you for your trust in me for all these years, Pennsylvania. It has been the honor of my lifetime,” he added. “I just called Dave McCormick to congratulate him on his election to represent Pennsylvania in the United States Senate,” he said in a video posted to X. From the New York Post: The three-term Democratic incumbent insisted on a statewide recount, which the commonwealth’s Department of State projected would cost taxpayers more than $1 million to complete. Democratic officials also launched a legal effort to count undated ballots in all of the Keystone State’s 67 counties, a last-ditch bid which was struck down earlier this week by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Casey said he was “proud” of the his team’s post-election efforts. “This race was one of the closest in our commonwealth’s history, decided by less than a quarter of a point. I’m grateful to the thousands of people who work to make sure that every eligible vote cast could be counted, including election officials in all 67 counties,” he said in his video message. What a whirlwind day it’s been! Around noon we got the shock announcement that Matt Gaetz had pulled his name from consideration for Attorney General. That was completely unexpected and caught many of us off guard, myself included. Now tonight, not even 12 hours after we lost Matt Gaetz we now have our new Attorney General candidate: Pam Bondi. But if you’re like me, you probably had a couple thoughts…. First, a little bit of a let down because I think we all thought and hoped it would be Kash Patel. Second, “who is Pam Bondi again?” I definitely recognize the name and remember her popping up over the years dating all the way back to 2016, and I remember her being someone who President Trump seemed to trust and rely on a lot, but beyond that I don’t have a deep knowledge of who she is, how strong she is, where she stands on things, etc. So….if you’re like me you probably want to know as much as you can about her and I’m here to help!
