Mental health and religion: Why men need God now more than ever

American men have been suffering in silence through an unprecedented mental health and suicide crisis — while women’s rights have taken center stage. Carrie Sheffield, senior policy analyst for Independent Women’s Voice, believes it’s high time this changes. “Nationwide, we are experiencing the highest suicide rate, the highest depression rate, ever in recorded American history. And unfortunately, men are hit hardest when it comes to suicide,” Sheffield tells Jill Savage and Matthew Peterson of “Blaze News Tonight,” adding that 80% of suicides are committed by men. “More than 90% of occupational deaths on the job are men. We don’t talk about this. The life span on average of men is far shorter than for women, and so we don’t talk about men. All the left loves to do is to demonize men,” she explains. However, Sheffield believes there’s an answer for the men suffering in silence. “Coming to faith, being in faith practice, religious community, religion. This is extremely tied with strong mental health, lower suicide, low substance abuse, and so it was an encouragement to men because men are far more likely to be atheist and agnostic,” Sheffield explains. “Why aren’t people talking about what men would need in terms of mental health?” Peterson asks. “In general, I think our culture has become divorced from truth,” Sheffield says. “Postmodern society is truth is whatever the wind is telling us. Whatever is trendy, whatever is hot, whatever is buzzy, and when our society falls away from that, it’s no wonder that then you fall into this situation.” “I’ve experienced it myself as a recovered agnostic, where if you don’t believe in an eternal truth or purpose, then your mental health suffers. And so, I think for a lot of men, as the quote-unquote ‘feminist movement’ demonized men and tried to sever them from their purpose, which is to serve God, to serve people,” she continues. “Part of that is this idea that a man could be a provider or a protector or create a family,” she says. “The feminist movement was trying to undermine all of that.” However, there’s some good news. “I looked at a headline that came out, I think, last week, and Bible sales are actually up 22% in America,” Savage comments. “The Bible sales, the 22% increase, which is phenomenal, that you mentioned, this is being driven by first-time Bible-buyers,” Sheffield says. “They’re discovering it by themselves, they’re being, in some ways, pioneers in their own family. And it’s being led by young men.” “And so that’s a glimmer of hope,” she adds. Caitlin Clark says she has benefitted from white privilege and wants to elevate black women during Time interview

WNBA star Caitlin Clark added Time Magazine's "Athlete of the Year" to her accolades and then claimed to have benefitted from white privilege. Clark, who plays for the Indiana Fever, made the comments in a wide-ranging interview with Time published Tuesday. 'The more we can elevate Black women, that’s going to be a beautiful thing.' “I want to say I’ve earned every single thing, but as a white person, there is privilege,” says Clark. “A lot of those players in the league that have been really good have been Black players. This league has kind of been built on them. The more we can appreciate that, highlight that, talk about that, and then continue to have brands and companies invest in those players that have made this league incredible, I think it’s very important," she added. "I have to continue to try to change that," Clark continued. "The more we can elevate Black women, that’s going to be a beautiful thing.” While Clark has been lauded by her supporters, many of her detractors claim that her popularity is another manifestation of white supremacy. The Time interview cited another player who said the support for Clark from the white community was "fanatical and territorial," even "racist" sometimes. Clark went on in the interview to say that she was glad to increase support for the sport. “You feel powerful,” Clark says. “Instantly, everybody goes crazy. People are invested in the game, they love the game, and that's what makes it so fun for me. These people aren't supporting women's sports to check a box. It’s going to be the new normal.” The iconic athlete made headlines in September when she "liked" a message from Taylor Swift endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for president over women's issues. When pressed about the issue, Clark only said that Americans should inform themselves and decide for themselves on whom to support for president. Like Blaze News? Who betrayed America’s warfighters?

Who betrayed America’s warfighters?

Before the Trump administration can execute a MAGA national security policy, the legacy of Henry Kissinger must be exorcised. Kissinger’s legacy has been a curse for 49 years. His intellectual brilliance, his Harvard credentials, his skill in cultivating elite patrons by feeding their illusions of self-importance brought him power and wealth on false pretenses and at a cost to his country. This is our opportunity to replace a culture of self-indulgent delusions with a culture of truth and courage. On January 9, 1971, Kissinger met secretly with Soviet Ambassador Anatoly Dobrynin. Without consulting President Nixon, Kissinger decided the United States could effectively “win” the Vietnam War by allowing this sequence of events to unfold: the North and South sign a peace treaty; the United States withdraws its troops from South Vietnam; the North leaves its 13 divisions inside South Vietnam; the South has two years of freedom; and with massive Soviet and Chinese support, the North conquers the South. After their meeting, Dobrynin reported to his ministry in Moscow that Kissinger said: “Ultimately it will no longer be the Americans’ concern, but that of the Vietnamese themselves, if some time after the U.S. troop withdrawal they start fighting with each other again.” In reading the transcripts of Kissinger’s conversations with President Nixon, we see the unctuous and devious manipulation of Nixon’s political needs and phobias. Nixon was left in the dark about Kissinger’s “possibility” that the North could win its war if it gave the South a short period of freedom. Nixon never knew the depth of Kissinger’s betrayal until I told him in 1989. He went white and lost all composure as he internalized the horrific implications of what he had just heard. By setting up the South for failure and defeat, Kissinger betrayed not only his president but also American warfighters and their families, along with our allies in South Vietnam and a generation of men and women who believed in American leadership abroad. Kissinger’s machinations undermined America’s moral authority in world affairs, paving the way for policy failures in Iraq and Afghanistan and imposing the curse of defeatism on the American people. When thinking of Kissinger’s reputed accomplishments, we might call to mind the passages in the Gospel of Matthew where the devil himself tempted Jesus with rule over powers and principalities. Jesus merely said: “Get thee hence, Satan,” and the devil was left powerless. The moral stain and political stench of betrayal must be cleansed. We need the right person to make possible such a victory over our sinful past. Pete Hegseth could be the change agent America needs. Hegseth has affirmed that his mission is to focus on warfighting, on how to win when the chips are on the table. As a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Hegseth knows firsthand the battlefield consequences of weak political leaders who cover their own misjudgments with deceit, who lack any fidelity to those who sacrifice their minds and bodies to execute the mission. To cure the evil left behind by Kissinger and other elites groomed in his image, our national security institutions need a moral reform from top to bottom. This is our opportunity to replace a culture of self-indulgent delusions with a culture of truth and courage. The subtitle to Hegseth’s most recent book — “behind the betrayal of the men who keep us free” — indicates he has internalized the lesson of Kissinger’s betrayal of an earlier generation of Americans and can point our minds and hearts in a new direction of securing our country with pride and honor. League of Legends is wasting no time showing off its next Exalted skin

On paper, the idea of League of Legends’ new Exalted skins isn’t necessarily a bad one. As Riot Games said itself, it wants to let its developers cook and create high-quality, super-rare, and unique-feeling cosmetic items that can only be obtained through a new, gacha-like mechanic. When you look at so many of the biggest PC games around, such a concept shouldn’t be too controversial. However, Riot’s first attempt - an Arcane-inspired Exalted Jinx skin - has had a pretty rough reception. You’d think that maybe it would take some time to reflect on this, but no - just a day before Arcane Fractured Jinx is set to join the MOBA, Riot has already revealed another new Exalted LoL skin.
