Linkin Park, largely inactive since ’17’s “One More Light,” – the last album before lead vocalist Chester Bennington’s suicide, the band introduced Emily Armstrong, co-founder of Dead Sara, as their new co-vocalist (with Mike Shinoda) and Colin Brittain, a songwriter and producer, as drummer Rob Bourdon’s replacement, during a ‘24 live performance event. Linkin Park band members “quietly began meeting up again in recent years” and “rather than ‘trying to restart the band,” they worked with numerous musicians and “found a special kinship with Armstong and Brittain. Armstrong, born and raised in L.A. started writing songs and playing guitar when she was 11 and began singing when she was 15. By the time Armstrong dropped out of high school; she knew she wanted to be in a Rock band. She has been called the “Janis Joplin for the arena Rock age” and has said music was the one thing that kept her motivated in life. At the live event the band debuted a new single, “The Emptiness Machine,” the band’s first new music in seven years, and announced their eighth studio album titled “From Zero.” “The Emptiness Machine” topped Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart.
