A New ‘Border Czar’ Is Coming to Town. Who Is Tom Homan?

Illegal aliens who pose “national security threats” to the U.S. will be prioritized for deportation, Tom Homan told Fox News on Monday.   President-elect Donald Trump announced Sunday that Homan would serve as “border czar” in his forthcoming administration. Homan has been highly critical of the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of the southern border, repeatedly raising the alarm over the estimated more than 10 million illegal aliens, including 662,000 criminal illegal aliens, who have entered the country on President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ watch.   Trump has pledged to launch a mass illegal alien deportation program under his administration, and, as “border czar,” Homan will play a central role in executing that campaign promise.   Trump’s new “border czar” says he became increasingly passionate about securing America’s borders after seeing the ways the Mexican criminal cartels exploit migrants, especially minors, for their own gain.  “Illegal immigration is not a victimless crime,” Homan told The Daily Signal during a phone call in October. “Children are dying almost daily on the border.”   In May 2003, Homan was working for the newly formed Immigration and Customs Enforcement when he got a call about an incident in Victoria, Texas. A group of illegal immigrants had been found packed inside a sweltering truck trailer. Among the 19 dead was a little boy, only 5 years old. At the crime scene, Homan directed the men bagging the bodies to save the child until last, because “I couldn’t deal with it at the time, because I just kept seeing my son there,” he recounted. Homan later learned from survivors who were inside the trailer that the “boy begged for his life and begged his father not let him die,” Homan recalled, noting that the father was powerless to save his child. “After talking to the witnesses and hearing the story, I just said, ‘No, this doesn’t have to happen. If we had a secure border, it wouldn’t have to happen,’” he explained. Children have long been some of the greatest victims of America’s border crisis, and today, the situation has only grown more dire with the implementation of policies that allow illegal immigration and provide criminal cartels with opportunities for exploitation, according to Homan.  Tom Homan, then-acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, shakes hands with Border Patrol agents after a press conference at Border Field State Park in San Ysidro, California, on May 7, 2018. (Sandy Huffaker/Getty Images) Homan’s border security career began in the 1980s when he joined the Border Patrol after serving as a police officer in New York. He was first assigned to the San Diego sector’s Campo Border Patrol Station, which at the time had only about 30 agents.   Mike Syzdek joined Border Patrol a few years before Homan and helped to train the new agent at the Campo station.   Homan “had a really outgoing personality and everybody liked him,” Syzdek told The Daily Signal in a phone call Tuesday. “He was a really good worker, but he liked to do practical jokes and different things, and the guys just loved him,” recalled Syzdek, who retired from Border Patrol in 2007.   “Most trainees take a while to get acclimated to the area and the mission of the [Border Patrol],” Syzdek said, adding, “We all noted that Tom [Homan] was a very fast learner.”  Syzdek and Homan worked together with other members of their team in 1986 to carry out a seizure of 1,285 pounds cocaine, which, at the time, “was the largest land seizure [of cocaine] in the history of the United States,” Syzdek said.   After Homan left the Campo station, Syzdek did not keep in touch but him, but says he was pleased when he learned years later that Homan was working for Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Homan served as executive associate director of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations office beginning in 2013 under the Obama administration. In 2017, Trump appointed Homan acting director of ICE, a role Homan served in until his retirement a year and a half later. Homan will turn 63 later this month. (Mark Wilson/Getty Images) As Trump’s border czar, Homan is “going to do whatever is necessary,” Syzdek said. With his “knowledge and experience,” Homan “not only is he going to be the executor of the policies that President Trump is going to come up with, but he’s going to have a big hand in recommending these policies, and the president could have no better adviser, in my opinion, than Tom,” according to Syzdek. “I’m so happy to see that he has obtained this position, such an important position in our government,” Syzdek said. “A boy from Campo, you know. Go figure.”   The post A New ‘Border Czar’ Is Coming to Town. Who Is Tom Homan? appeared first on The Daily Signal.

5 Tips & Tricks To Caring For Wooden Handled Tools & Equipment

There’s nothing like being in the middle of a project and one of the important tools handle breaks. Not to mention that outdoor wooden tools and equipment can be expensive in the first place, let alone to have to replace them and invest in the same thing again. 5 Tips & Tricks To Caring For Wooden Tools & Equipment The proper care and upkeep of your equipment and tools can make them work more efficiently and last longer. Much of what you’re going to hear probably consists of things we’ve all heard growing up and at different times in our lives. The tips and tricks are pretty basic and don’t consist of much in most cases. Tips & Tricks 1. Weatherproofing If you enjoy using wooden handle tools it’s a good idea to waterproof them. When wood sits in the rain or wet for long periods of time it can cause wood rot, as well as, rust and oxidation around the screws. Rust causes deterioration when it comes to certain metals and wood. You can use linseed oil or if you want to be a little safer use flaxseed oil. Linseed oil is actually extracted from flaxseed but it is far more potent and the volatile oils can be flammable and hazardous. Flaxseed oil is found in most grocery stores and is meant for cooking with. It will waterproof your wooden handles just as good as the linseed without the hassle. 2. Paint Painting can add some oomph to weatherproofing your wooden handle tools but it’s not the same. Using paint can help provide a protective layer or layers against rain and the sun. It’s always wise to use a waterproof paint or add a coating of weather seal. Prolonged periods of time in the sun can cause handles, whether they are wooden or plastic, to become weak and begin chipping. If there is any glue binding the head of the tool onto the stick hot and cold temperatures can have a negative effect. It sucks to have a hammerhead go flying in mid-swing. Eventually, you will have to touch up the paint but that’s to be expected. 3. Pick Them Up & Put Them Away As I mentioned, some of these things we are taught as children. Leaving your tools out in the elements all the time is going to take a toll on them after a while. It doesn’t matter what sort of handles you are dealing with the elements will have an impact on them. Keep them where it is dry. 4. Keep Them Clean When I was little I thought it was silly that my older brothers always wiped their tools down after they worked on the car. They even cleaned the mower off before putting it away in the garage. I later learned how much that helps care for them. Dirt and wet grass build up and then it begins a cycle of rust, wear and tear. Eventually, something goes wrong with whatever it is and has to be fixed or replaced. Keeping gardening tools free of dirt and water before putting them away and wiping the grease off of your other tools can improve the quality of use and extend its life. 5. Regular Upkeep image via dvidshub.net Screws need to be tightened, handles adjusted, knives and blades sharpening. Chainsaws and other gas or electric powered equipment needs to be maintained as well. Taking good care of your tools really helps you in the long run. Wranglerstar shows how to care for your ax & other wood handle tools: For some of us, the tools and equipment we use are strictly for hobby work while for others of us they are our livelihood and our means of everyday life. Either way, it’s good to take care of your tools the right way so that they work better for longer. There are going to be times that something does get left out in the rain but as long as you took the steps to protect them by weatherproofing them then it should be all good. Even if you didn’t it’s not going to hurt them if it only happens once in awhile. Take good care of your tools and they’ll take good care of you. Happy Working! Oprah denies being paid for Harris endorsement after records show campaign gave her company $1 million

Oprah Winfrey denied reports that she was paid off by the Harris-Walz campaign for her endorsement but admitted that her production company received $1 million to pay for other costs. 'I was not paid a dime. My time and energy was my way of supporting the campaign.' Vice President Kamala Harris has been hammered by critics on the left after spending a billion dollars on her campaign and losing badly to President-elect Donald Trump. The campaign reportedly ended up with nearly $20 million in debt. Among the expenditures made was a $1 million given to Oprah Winfrey's company, Harpo Productions. "Usually I am reluctant to respond to rumors in general, but these days I realize that if you don't stop a lie, it just gets bigger," she wrote. "I was not paid a dime. My time and energy was my way of supporting the campaign."She went on to say that she did not take a "personal fee" for the appearance, but her company was asked to supply the set, which included lights, cameras, microphones, and chairs for the set. "However, the people who worked on that production needed to be paid. And were," she said. "End of story."Her accounting was confirmed by a spokesperson for Harpo Productions who spoke to Variety. “The campaign paid for the production costs of ‘Unite for America,’ a live-streaming event that took place Sept. 19 outside Detroit, Mich.,” said the spokesperson. “Oprah Winfrey was at no point during the campaign paid a personal fee, nor did she receive a fee from Harpo.”The campaign also paid $500k to the nonprofit founded by activist Al Sharpton just before Harris appeared on a video with Sharpton in which he praised her and attacked Trump. Sharpton reportedly got paid $650k by the organization in 2021. Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

Trump's new border czar is a NIGHTMARE for Democrats

It hasn’t even been a full week since Donald Trump won the election, but that hasn’t stopped him from already following through on one of his biggest campaign promises: border security. “I am pleased to announce that the Former ICE Director, and stalwart on Border Control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump Administration, in charge of our Nation’s Borders (‘The Border Czar’), including, but not limited to, the Southern Border, the Northern Border, all Maritime, and Aviation Security,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our Borders. Likewise, Tom Homan will be in charge of all Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their country of Origin. Congratulations to Tom. I have no doubt that he will do a fantastic, and long awaited for, job,” Trump concluded. Sara Gonzales of “Sara Gonzales Unfiltered” is thrilled, especially considering Homan has a proven track record of being quite impressive in the past. “He was already in charge of ICE under Donald Trump, he did a tremendous job, takes this very seriously, has dedicated many years of his life to public service,” Gonzales says, noting that a recent speech of his at the Republican National Convention was incredibly comforting. Homan began explaining everything Kamala Harris and Joe Biden did and didn’t do to prevent the immigration crisis, before sharing what the consequences were. “Now we have a record illegal migration, a record number of women and children being sex trafficked, a record number of Americans dying from fentanyl, a record number of known suspected terrorists sneaking across our border, and here’s what you need to know. This isn’t mismanagement, this isn’t incompetence. This is by design, and it’s a choice. It’s national suicide,” Homan said in his powerful speech. “I got a message, as a guy who spent 34 years deporting illegal aliens. I got a message to the millions of illegal aliens that Joe Biden’s releasing into our country in violation of federal law: You better start packing now,” Homan finished. “This is what making America great again looks like,” Gonzales says.
