Meyers Claims No One Cares 'What Bathroom Someone Uses'

Amongst the late night comedians there exists a peculiar theory that says the reason why Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis struggled and ultimately failed to win the Republican presidential nomination is because he pursued policies as governor that they‚ a bunch of liberals‚ do not like and that nobody else cares about. NBC Late Night host Seth Meyers was the latest example on Tuesday as he claimed that nobody cares about “what bathroom someone uses‚” pronouns‚ or anything else that conservatives actually do care about. DeSantis’s withdrawal from the race put Meyers in a self-admittedly awkward place as he moderated a fake debate between DeSantis and Nikki Haley. For the most part‚ Meyers asks silly questions and uses cut up sound bites from the candidates’ answers at the most recent real debate for humorous effect. However‚ occasionally Meyers will try to make an actual political argument as he did when he turned his fake debate into a parody of the game show Pyramid.     The “category” DeSantis‚ who still won re-election by almost 20 points‚ was supposed to “guess” was “things no voter cares about” and Meyers began with “banning LGBTQ books.” DeSantis faux-replied‚ “Things that are going to help seniors.” That’s cute‚ but Meyers never does explain how books that Joy Reid's show won't even tweet out without censorship are suitable for children. Trying again‚ Meyers tried again “No. Complaining about someone for preferred pronouns.” DeSantis’s fake reply this time was “Things in Florida‚” but as hard as it may be for Meyers to understand‚ some people really do care about putting truth before subjective feelings. After going through DeSantis’s fights with Disney and other woke companies‚ Meyers offered up “What bathroom someone uses.” This time DeSantis gave the “correct” response‚ “things no voter cares about.” In the real debate that was a response to Haley talking about “political process stuff‚” but Meyers will be surprised to know that a great many people actually do care what bathroom people use because a society that cannot get basic concepts of male and female right does not have much of a chance of getting anything else right. Here is a transcript for the January 23-taped show: NBC Late Night with Seth Meyers 1/24/2024 12:45 AM ET SETH MEYERS: Okay‚ Governor DeSantis‚ it's time to play Pyramid‚ you ready? Okay. Here we go. Banning LGBTQ books.  RON DESANTIS: Things that are going to help seniors.  MEYERS: No. Complaining about someone for preferred pronouns. DESANTIS: Things in Florida.  MEYERS: No. Gay characters in Disney movies.  DESANTIS: Things that's hitting working people the most.  MEYERS: No. Companies being too woke. DESANTIS: Things that happened during COVID.  MEYERS: No. What bathroom someone uses. DESANTIS: Things no voter cares about  MEYERS: Yes‚ good job‚ you got it.

White House comes up with unbelievable excuse after Biden is accused of engaging in full-blown 'election denialism'

President Joe Biden appeared on Tuesday to deny that Republican Glenn Youngkin is the legitimate governor of Virginia. At a campaign rally promoting abortion in the commonwealth‚ Biden stepped up to his lectern and said‚ "Hello‚ Virginia — and the real governor‚ Terry McAuliffe!" — (@) The "real governor" of Virginia is Youngkin; he was duly elected in November 2021 and assumed office in January 2022. Democrat Terry McAuliffe‚ on the other hand‚ served as governor of the commonwealth from 2014 to 2018.The remark quickly went viral‚ and Biden was accused of engaging in "election denialism‚" a charge that Democrats repeatedly heap on Republicans. What made Biden's comment stick out is not only the fact that he referred to McAuliffe as the "real governor" — which thereby denies that Youngkin is the "real governor" — but the fact that Biden chose to declare the loser of the 2021 Virginia gubernatorial race the legitimate winner."Joe Biden — under water among Virginians by 17 points according to recent polling — came to the Commonwealth today to spout election denialism‚" said an email blast from Youngkin's political team.A spokesman for Youngkin suggested there are two interpretations of Biden's comment — neither of which are good for him."There are only two options here: Either the President doesn’t know who is Governor of Virginia right now‚ or he's denying the results of Virginia's 2021 election‚" spokesman Rob Damschen said. For his part‚ Youngkin responded‚ "Mr. President‚ I'm right here."Youngkin later said on Wednesday‚ "I just thought it was pretty shocking that [Biden] might have suggested that there might have been some question around who won in 2021. Virginia spoke loudly. ... I hope next time he knows that the governor of Virginia is Glenn Youngkin and not somebody else."The White House‚ meanwhile‚ tried to excuse the comment with a bizarre angle."The president was making a joke about McAuliffe's previous term as governor‚" a White House spokesperson said. "He congratulated Governor Youngkin on his election out of the gate and has worked across the aisle with him ever since."However‚ the full context of the remark does not — in any way‚ shape‚ or form — suggest that Biden was referring to McAuliffe's term as governor. Biden had just begun speaking‚ and when he made the comment‚ he motioned to someone in the front of the crowd. It turns out that McAuliffe was seated near the front of the crowd.Like Blaze News? Texas DPS spokesman confirms to Glenn Beck that the Lone Star State 'is not backing down' and is laying more wire

The U.S. Supreme Court decided Monday that the Biden administration can take down the razor wire that Texas has installed along its southern border. The Lone Star State has evidently taken the ruling as a challenge to install even more. Lt. Chris Olivarez‚ spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety‚ told nationally syndicated radio host and co-founder of Blaze Media Glenn Beck Wednesday that "nothing has changed" in the wake of the high court's 5-4 ruling where the Texas DPS and National Guard are concerned. "We're still continuing operations at Shelby Park. We still have restricted access to Border Patrol in that area‚" said Olivarez. "And‚ in fact‚ the National Guard is installing more barriers‚ more concertina wire‚ more fencing along the river to make it challenging and discourage illegal crossings. Texas is not backing down." Blaze News previously reported that Texas officials were spotted after the Supreme Court decision installing new razor wire and anti-climb fences in Eagle Pass‚ a border city home to the controversial municipal park that the Lone Star State seized on Jan. 10. Last month‚ thousands of illegal aliens were observed entering the country daily via Eagle Pass. NewsNation reported that over 4‚000 migrants crossed into the area on Dec. 18‚ 2023‚ alone. 2.47 million‚ 2.37 million‚ and 1.73 million illegal aliens entered the United States in fiscal years 2023‚ 2022‚ and 2021‚ respectively. Well over 500‚000 have already stolen across the border this fiscal year. Gov. Greg Abbott pre-empted Olivarez's confirmation with a tweet Wedesday noting‚ "Texas' razor wire is an effective deterrent against the illegal border crossings encouraged by Biden's open border policies. We continue to deploy this razor wire to repel illegal immigration." The Texas Military Department appears to be on the same page as the DPS and governor‚ having announced Tuesday it would "hold the line in Shelby Park to deter and prevent unlawful entry into the State of Texas." Lt. Olivarez underlined the urgency of Texas' continuing efforts‚ telling Beck that criminal elements are "exploiting the current situation‚ but yet‚ our own federal government is not doing anything to stop it. And‚ of course‚ when Texas steps up‚ we're criticized for what we're doing." "We want to stop those public safety and national security threats. Just today‚ Border Patrol released [that] there was over 96‚000 known gotaways since Oct. 1 for this fiscal year‚" continued Olivarez. "Those are individuals that have made it into the country right now and we don't know where they're at‚ what their intentions are. ... You can only imagine the type of people in the country right now that have been able to get away. The threat is here." U.S. Customs and Border Protection told Fox News Wednesday that nearly 100‚000 illegal aliens crossed the border and disappeared into the U.S. since October — at a rate of nearly 800 per day. According to the agency's enforcement statistics‚ 169 individuals on the terror watch list were apprehended at the southern border last year; 30 on the watchlist have been apprehended since October. — (@) Like Blaze News? Migrants are sleeping on the floor at Boston airport due to sanctuary state's overwhelmed shelter system

Roughly 100 migrants are being temporarily housed at Boston's Logan Airport as Massachusetts‚ a sanctuary state‚ struggles to find accommodations amid its overwhelmed shelter system‚ WBZ-TV reported Tuesday.Videos of the airport captured many migrants‚ including men‚ women‚ and children‚ huddled in a corner of Logan Airport's international terminal‚ Terminal E. The footage showed migrants sleeping on blankets on the floor next to their belongings.Keturah Douze‚ who is in contact with some of the migrants‚ told WBZ that she has been providing the asylum-seekers with hygiene products."A lot of well care stuff because while they're at the airport they don't have access to a shower so there's like some shower wipes‚ little towels just to clean up while they wait‚" Douze explained.Massachusetts State Police are being provided with overtime pay to patrol the airport‚ according to Democratic Governor Maura Healey."The airport has been a wonderful partner‚ and I really want to thank the folks at the airport who are doing a wonderful job including members of the state police who are working their regular shifts but who are managing the inflow and outflow of folks from the airport‚" Healey said during a Monday news conference. The governor called on the White House to assist with the ongoing migrant crisis. She is requesting an additional $250 million in federal funding but estimates Massachusetts will spend $915 million next year providing migrant services."We need D.C. to act. We need Congress to act. The path is there in terms of what needs to be done to fix the border situation‚ to fix some of the asylum processes and to get much-needed funding to some of the interior states who have had to shoulder the burden for a problem that is geopolitical and is not the state's making‚" Healey continued.Healey declared a state of emergency in August‚ citing the increase in new migrant arrivals. In November‚ the governor reported that the state's homeless shelter system had reached capacity after providing accommodations to 7‚500 families. Those seeking shelter are being placed on a waiting list. She has repeatedly called on the Biden administration to help address the crisis.San Diego International Airport also began temporarily allowing migrants to move in after the city's shelter system was overwhelmed in November. Chicago's O'Hare International Airport was converted into a makeshift migrant shelter in September. Asylum-seekers were provided with cots tucked away and hidden from the public behind large black curtains. Like Blaze News? Two beloved Hollywood classics about to get woke remakes

Hollywood has been spiraling downward into progressivism for some time now‚ but despite repeatedly losing millions of dollars and alienating audiences left and right‚ it looks like the film industry has no intention to deboard the woke bandwagon. Dave Rubin shares the disheartening news that two beloved classic films will be getting woke remakes in the near future. “They are remaking ‘The Wizard of Oz’ to be a non-white ‘Wizard of Oz‚”’ he sighs‚ claiming the original film is “perfection” and “should never be touched.” The other classic due for a remake is “It’s a Wonderful Life.” The filmmaker responsible for these revamps is Kenya Barris‚ best known as the creator of ABC’s popular sitcom “Black-ish.” Dave plays a clip of Barris explaining to Variety his plans for diverse and LGBTQ inclusive remakes of “The Wizard of Oz” and “It’s a Wonderful Life.” “The original ‘Wizard of Oz’ took place during the Great Depression‚ and it was about self-reliance‚” Barris explained‚ but “I think this is a perfect time to sort of switch the characters and talk about what someone imagines their life could be.” “It’s a Wonderful Life” is about “a guy who's trying to help out his community … and I think that's a perfect story to tell for a person of color‚ black or brown‚” Barris continued. “Nobody needs to remake these things. If you think ‘The Wizard of Oz’ wasn't gay enough … you are so gay you should be studied by scientists‚” laughs Dave. But in all seriousness‚ “what DEI leads to is an endless decline in everything‚” meaning “our movies will not be as good.” “They’ve destroyed everything in Hollywood.” Want more from Dave Rubin? To enjoy more honest conversations‚ free speech‚ and big ideas with Dave Rubin‚ subscribe to BlazeTV — the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America‚ defend the Constitution‚ and live the American dream.

'The market will decide': Toyota chairman says EVs will never dominate global market even with 'political power'

The chairman of car manufacturer Toyota continued his push against electric vehicles in favor of hybrid vehicles and claimed that EVs will never have a majority share in the global market.Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda's remarks published on the Toyota website echoed previous comments made by the executive‚ in which he stated that there is a better path to reducing carbon than the enforcement of electric vehicles."No matter how much progress [EVs] make‚ I think they will still only have a 30% market share. Then‚ the remaining 70% will be [hybrid vehicles]‚ [hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles]‚ and hydrogen engines‚" Toyoda said‚ according to a translation provided by NewsMax."[Gasoline] engine cars will definitely remain. This is something that customers and the market will decide‚ not regulatory values or political power."Toyoda previously stated that people were "finally seeing reality" regarding the EV market. He added that there were "many ways to climb the mountain that is achieving carbon neutrality."In 2022‚ the chairman also remarked on the auto industry having a "silent majority" who wondered "whether EVs are really OK to have as a single option." "One billion people around the world live in areas without electricity‚" Toyoda reportedly said on the company's site. "In the case of Toyota‚ we also supply vehicles to these regions‚ so a single [EV] option cannot provide transportation for everyone.""Do not deprive freedom of movement from any region‚ country‚ or income group‚" the chairman exclaimed. The chairman also boasted that "Japan is the only developed country to have reduced CO2 emissions by 23%" through the use of hybrid vehicles.Stories have been flooding the media landscape with reports of slowed production and usage of EVs‚ which have not come anywhere close to industry or government projections.Asheville‚ North Carolina‚ said it was "pressing pause" on EVs after a fleet of electric buses broke down. The city was reportedly looking to reinvest in biodiesel-powered buses after investing millions of dollars in an electric fleet that is only partly operable.Ford also implemented job cuts for its production of electric F-150 Lightning trucks in January 2024 and transferred manpower to a different production facility to produce gas-powered vehicles. At the same time‚ European car dealers reported that the number of electric vehicles making their way into the European Union's used-car market was far lower than expected. The rate of used-car purchases was just 2% or lower in select EU countries‚ with contributing factors including a higher purchase price‚ a perceived lack of charging stations‚ and the fact that the consumer worries about the driving range of plug-in cars.AVERE‚ an EV advocacy group from Brussels‚ Belgium‚ disagreed with the figures put forth by the car dealers. There is a "lack of trustful and aligned data‚" said Philippe Vangeel‚ AVERE secretary general. The advocate also blamed car dealers for lacking knowledge in electric vehicles‚ which he said made them less inclined to push the EV models.Vangeel noted that there should be an increase of electric vehicle purchases in Europe when governments eventually force consumers to go electric through the implementation of low-emission zones.Like Blaze News? Does ‘American Fiction’ signal the end of Hollywood’s woke era?

Does ‘American Fiction’ signal the end of Hollywood’s woke era?

Cord Jefferson’s directorial debut‚ “American Fiction‚” spoke to me like few movies have in the past two decades. As an educated‚ heterosexual‚ Christian black man‚ I’ve learned to expect that Hollywood prefers to depict a black experience that never reflects my reality. I enjoyed “Boyz n the Hood‚” “Menace II Society‚” “Baby Boy‚” “New Jack City‚” “Sugar Hill‚” “American Gangster‚” “Training Day” and all the other drug-dealing gang dramas the Hollywood assembly line churned out. But those movies in no way reflected my childhood or day-to-day as an adult. Occasionally‚ Hollywood would accidentally spit out a movie featuring a black lead character who represented my values and life experience. Perhaps the last one that I remember most vividly was Denzel Washington in “Remember the Titans‚” a movie about a football coach in Virginia leading a newly integrated high school in the 1970s. It reminded me of my high school football reality at Warren Central High on the east side of Indianapolis in the 1980s. Tuesday night‚ I watched “American Fiction.” Actor Jeffrey Wright played the lead character‚ Thelonious “Monk” Ellison‚ a frustrated college professor and writer. Monk writes great books‚ but no one buys them. The public has been trained to prefer salacious tales of criminal and immoral behavior by black people. The rejection angers Monk. It puts him at war with family‚ friends‚ and his profession. “American Fiction” points out the dangers of women and feminist allies controlling the perception of men. Under a pen name‚ Monk mocks the book writing and movie industry by crafting a preposterous novel about a criminal black man. He originally calls the book “My Pafology” and then insists the publisher change it to “F***.” Even so‚ the publisher buys the manuscript for $750‚000‚ and then a producer pays $4 million to make the book into a movie. A group of white liberals give it a major literary award. The movie is hilarious. It appears the Overton window is finally resetting‚ and it’s perfectly legal to ridicule the insanity and fraudulence of wokeness. On Tuesday‚ the Motion Picture Academy announced the nominees for the 2024 Academy Awards. “American Fiction” was nominated in five categories‚ including Best Picture‚ Best Actor‚ and Best Screenplay. I’m shocked. I’m overjoyed. The success of Cord Jefferson’s movie might inspire other young writers and directors to challenge Hollywood’s stereotypical depiction of the black experience. At its core‚ “American Fiction” spotlights the patriarchy versus matriarchy battle waging across the internet “manosphere.” Monk is “passport bro‚” a wise black man frustrated with the concessions black women have surrendered to white liberals. The top concession is eliminating heterosexual black men from having any real control over how we’re depicted in art and literature.Cord Jefferson‚ I’m sure‚ isn’t looking to fight with Oprah Winfrey‚ Ava DuVernay‚ Lena Waithe‚ Tyler Perry‚ and all the other black matriarchs Hollywood has installed as gatekeepers. But Jefferson’s movie points out the dangers of women and feminist allies controlling the perception of men. Monk’s nemesis in the movie is Sintara Golden‚ a black woman who rises to fame with the book “We’s Lives in Da Ghetto.” Golden won’t apologize for writing a string of books that pander to the sensibilities of white liberal publishers and their bigoted view of black people. “American Fiction” is a sophisticated version of Spike Lee’s 2000 movie “Bamboozled.” And the film subversively trolls white liberals the way Jordan Peele’s “Get Out” lampooned white liberals. It’s interesting that Peele and Jefferson are mixed race‚ half black and half white. Maybe their heritage gives them the freedom and leverage to address issues that black directors can’t. “American Fiction” is not perfect. It does pander to the LGBTQ for no particular reason. The storyline involving Monk and his gay brother seems forced into the script. The overweight family housekeeper‚ Lorraine‚ is supposed to be the movie’s moral compass. She’s the hero when she welcomes Monk’s cocaine-snorting‚ promiscuous brother into her home for her weekend wedding. The rest of the movie was so good that I just closed my eyes and ignored the gay mafia pandering.
