Dean Phillips Entertains 3rd Party Bid For President — On One Condition

Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN)‚ a long-shot candidate for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination‚ says he would consider a third-party bid for the White House under the right circumstances. According to multiple reports over the weekend‚ Phillips signaled he would be open to a campaign under the No Labels banner if President Joe Biden appears likely to lose against former President Donald Trump should they face each other again in the general election. “It would have to be a Joe Biden-Donald Trump rematch that shows Joe Biden is almost certain to lose‚” Phillips told The New York Times. “That is the only condition in which I would even entertain a conversation with any alternative.” In a Washington Post interview‚ Phillips said the data would have to indicate a “better way” to defeat Trump for him to contemplate a third-party run. For now‚ Phillips said he is “focused exclusively on running as a Democrat and securing the nomination because that is the most expeditious‚ reasonable‚ common-sense way forward.” Phillips‚ like other challengers against the incumbent‚ trails Biden by a wide margin in polls and faces hurdles in trying to get on the ballot in key states‚ such as Florida and North Carolina. But the congressman has attracted support from high-profile figures‚ including billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman and 2020 presidential candidate Andrew Yang. He has painted Biden as “unelectable and weak” heading into the first nomination contests for the Democrats this election cycle. No Labels is an organization touting an “insurance project” in the form of a “Unity ticket‚” citing polls that show broad dissatisfaction among voters when considering the prospect of a 2020 rematch between Biden and Trump. As reported by The Washington Examiner this month‚ No Labels is considering at least 13 possible candidates‚ and the group says a decision will be made on whether to move forward sometime after March 15. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) has long been speculated to be mulling a potential run with No Labels. He announced in November that he would not seek re-election and planned to travel around the country “to see if there’s an interest in creating a movement to mobilize the middle and bring Americans together.” Biden’s re-election campaign dismissed on Sunday the notion that the incumbent could face a viable threat from a third-party candidate now that Phillips is mulling a No Labels bid. “At the end of the day‚ there’s only going to be two parties that have an ability to get to 270 electoral votes‚ and that’s going to be Joe Biden as a Democratic nominee and whoever emerges from the extreme Republican primary that’s going on right now‚” Biden principal deputy campaign manager Quentin Fulks said on ABC’s “This Week.”

DeSantis Suspends 2024 Presidential Campaign‚ Endorses Trump

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced on Sunday that he was suspending his presidential campaign and endorsing former President Donald Trump. DeSantis’ announcement came after he stayed in second place throughout the entire time that he was a presidential candidate. The race was permanetely altered after Trump was indicted by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg‚ according to top polling experts. NBC News analyst Steve Kornacki said during a recent analysis that there were multiple polls that showed DeSantis ahead of Trump after Florida was one of the lone bright spots after last year’s midterm elections. Polling averages showed the race between Trump and DeSantis being within 10 points. However‚ after Trump was indicted‚ a sizeable percentage of Republicans came back to supporting Trump and three additional subsequent indictments further rallied Republican voters around the former president. How to get better Palspheres in Palworld

When you first start your adventure in Palworld‚ Palspheres seem like a pretty sweet deal. Unfortunately‚ it doesn’t take long for Palsphere’s to become unreliable‚ with a low catch rate. If you’re in that situation‚ let me show you how to get better Palspheres in Palworld. Related: Palworld Review Where to get upgraded Palspheres Regular Palspheres are great when you’re starting out but have miserable catch rates against larger Pals. Even if your opponent is weak‚ you’ll get more mileage from an upgraded Palsphere. Fortunately‚ you can craft Mega Spheres when you reach level 14.  Image: PC Invasion The Mega Spheres are better than regular Palspheres but require more resources. Each Mega Sphere costs 5 Wood‚ 5 Stone‚ 1 Ingot‚ and 1 Paldium Fragment and can only be assembled on a Sphere Workbench. Once you hit level 20‚ you’ll unlock Giga Spheres‚ which are even better but cost more resources. Finally‚ you...

Kansas couple kept deceased man's body in home for six years while collecting his retirement benefits

A couple in Kansas has been charged for fraudulently collecting more than $215‚000 in retirement benefits on behalf of a relative who had already died. And the couple reportedly kept the corpse of the relative's body in their home for six years‚ according to NBC News. The authorities said Mike Carroll's pacemaker indicated that he passed away in 2016‚ at the age of 81. But the Overland Park police did not find his body until 2022 when Kirk Ritter‚ Carroll's son-in-law‚ reported the death. Prosecutors in the case mentioned Kirk and Lynn Ritter‚ both 61‚ continued making use of Carroll's bank account after his body had become "mummified" in one of the home's bedrooms.Lynn is reportedly Carroll's daughter. The Kansas City Star reported that there were efforts to get in touch with the Ritters after the development was discovered. It is not clear if the Ritters have a defense attorney in the case. The report also mentioned that the Ritters relied on Carroll financially toward the end of his life.A shocking development is that members of the family believed Carroll was still alive until his death was reported just 15 months ago‚ per the Kansas City Star. Carroll's niece‚ Janet Carroll‚ said she and others were constantly given excuses as to why he could not come to the phone. "We were denied contact with him‚" Janet said‚ "[a]nd now we know why."Even after Carroll's death‚ the Ritters continued to live inside the home. The authorities said that over six years‚ the Ritters made deposits into Carroll's bank account from his pension and the Social Security Administration that totaled $216‚067.Another report published in early 2023 noted that Carroll's granddaughter said the family found out about the man's death after Kirk called in February 2022. Kirk explained Carroll had died in 2016‚ but never mentioned how long the body had been in the house. “We were absolutely shocked‚” she said. “He told us that he’s buried with Grandma.”During the call‚ Kirk apparently told the granddaughter that Lynn had suffered a heart attack. “I think Kirk got tired of it and took advantage of the fact that she was finally not in the house‚” the granddaughter said. The Ritters are expected in court on February 2. Former Trump lawyer warns ex-president 'absolutely' could be convicted in federal criminal cases: 'Not to be taken lightly'

Former Trump lawyer warns ex-president 'absolutely' could be convicted in federal criminal cases: 'Not to be taken lightly'

A lawyer – who recently bailed on representing Donald Trump – warned that the former president "absolutely" could be convicted in one of his federal criminal cases‚ and cautioned the charges are "not to be taken lightly." Joseph Tacopina had represented Trump in the Manhattan case accusing the former president of falsifying business records in connection with a payoff to porn star Stormy Daniels. However‚ Tacopina suddenly abandoned representing Trump on Monday. On Saturday night‚ Tacopina gave his "first and only interview" regarding representing Trump to Al Sharpton on his MSNBC show "Politics Nation." “I left the team because it was just my time‚” Tacopina said. “I had to follow my compass‚ and my compass told me my time there was done.""There were things that just didn't work out for me‚" he stated. "That didn't make me want to continue in that role." The lawyer added that he has "nothing bad to say about anyone‚" to which Sharpton retorted‚ "Well‚ you do know Donald Trump may have something bad to say about you after coming on my show?" Tacopina replied‚ "That's okay. That's part of the playbook." Tacopina noted that he left because of “personal reasons‚” which he chose not to discuss. He added that he would be bogged down for most of the year representing rapper A$AP Rocky – who is accused of firing a semi-automatic handgun at a former friend. Tacopina pointed out that many former attorneys for the ex-president aired dirty laundry about Trump‚ but he would not because "it’s not professional‚ it’s petty‚ and it shows a lack of confidence in oneself when you go out there and do that.”Tacopina explained that he didn't believe the hush money case was a strong case against Trump. However‚ he warned that federal cases in Georgia and Washington‚ D.C. are "serious cases" that are "not to be taken lightly." Sharpton asked Trump's former lawyer if the ex-president could be convicted‚ and Tacopina responded‚ "Is it possible? Absolutely. You have a jury of 12‚ who is ultimately going to decide this. Jack Smith is a federal prosecutor‚ who I knew from his days in Brooklyn. These are serious prosecutors. These are federal cases‚ and you have a jury."Sharpton asked if the cases against Trump were politically motivated‚ and Tacopina replied‚ "Look‚ do I think there’s a political bent to some of this‚ some of the way this was gone about? Yes‚ I do. Do I think these cases are invalid cases? Look‚ the grand jury voted to indict‚ and he’s going to have to face a jury in Washington‚ D.C.‚ Florida‚ and Georgia‚ and New York City. And I’d say maybe three of those venues are not particularly big Trump venues‚ right? New York City‚ Washington D.C.‚ and Atlanta. So that’s going to be something to really have to grapple with there. And you can’t say there’s no way he’ll get convicted or there's no way he'll be sentenced." The lawyer said the prosecutors likely "believe in their cases‚" but added that it "doesn't mean they're right." Tacopina has previously represented high-profile clients‚ including rapper Meek Mill‚ former New York Yankees legend Alex Rodriguez‚ and Donald Trump Jr.'s fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle.Like Blaze News?
