'Islamophobia' claims regarding shooting of Palestinian trio in doubt after suspect revealed to be Hamas apologist

Three Palestinian students were shot on Nov. 25 in Burlington‚ Vermont. Democrats and other leftists took a brief pause from their criticism of Israel's fight against terrorism to suggest so-called Islamophobia was a factor in the non-fatal shootings. It appears‚ however‚ that the suspect in the shootings — an incident that has fallen off the liberal media's radar in the weeks since — is a mentally-compromised individual who defended Palestinians and Hamas in recent months. The incident 20-year-old students Hisham Awartani‚ Kinnan Abdalhamid‚ and Tahseen Ali Ahmad went out for a stroll during Thanksgiving break while visiting friends in Burlington. VTDigger indicated two of the victims were wearing Palestinian scarves at the time of the shooting. Jason James Eaton‚ 48‚ stepped off a porch on North Prospect Street around 6:30 p.m. and confronted the trio‚ according to police. Eaton then allegedly opened fire without uttering a word. All three victims‚ two of whom are U.S. citizens‚ were wounded but ultimately survived. Eaton was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted second-degree murder and may yet face a hate crime enhancement. His next hearing is set for March 8. — (@) The response "In this charged moment‚ no one can look at this incident and not suspect that it may have been a hate-motivated crime‚" said Burlington Police Chief Jon Murad. "Although we do not yet have evidence to support a hate crime enhancement‚ there is no question this was a hateful act‚" said Chittenden County State's Attorney Sarah George. The victims' families released a statement urging law enforcement to treat the shooting as a "hate crime." The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee rushed out a statement suggesting it had "reason to believe this shooting occurred because the victims are Arab." ADC national executive director Abed Ayoub said‚ "The surge in anti-Arab and anti-Palestinian sentiment we are experiencing is unprecedented‚ and this is another example of that hate turning violent." President Joe Biden said in response to the shootings that "there is absolutely no place for violence or hate in America." Vice President Kamala Harris wrote in a statement‚ "We know that far too many people live with the fear that they could be targeted and attacked based on their beliefs or who they are." Democratic Sen. Peter Welch (Vt.) stressed‚ "We do not tolerate hate or Islamophobia in Vermont." Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said‚ "It is shocking and deeply upsetting that three young Palestinians were shot here in Burlington‚ Vermont. Hate has no place here‚ or anywhere." Vermont Lt. Gov. David Zuckerman said at a subsequent rally held by various anti-Israel groups‚ "I think it's hard not to see the attempted murder of three young Palestinians wearing the Palestinian keffiyehs‚ the scarf‚ at a time when we're seeing increased attacks throughout the U.S.‚" reported Vermont Public. Rep. Becca Balint (D-Vt.) pushed the phobia narrative in Washington and wrote on X‚ "Dehumanizing‚ Islamophobic‚ anti-Arab rhetoric has violent consequences. For Hisham‚ Kinnan‚ Tahseen‚ and for all Palestinian Americans‚ we need to make it crystal clear that we stand against this kind of hate and bigotry." Dehumanizing‚ Islamophobic‚ anti-Arab rhetoric has violent consequences.\n\nFor Hisham‚ Kinnan‚ Tahseen‚ and for all Palestinian Americans‚ we need to make it crystal clear that we stand against this kind of hate and bigotry. — (@) Not so fast Contrary to ceasefire leftists' initial suspicions‚ the suspected shooter is actually a fellow traveler. Although Eaton's X account has been set to private‚ Seven Days‚ an independent Vermont paper‚ obtained a trove of the suspect's posts from a follower on the platform who asked to remain anonymous. Eaton‚ reportedly fired from his job with a financial services company just weeks before the shooting‚ wrote in response to Rep. Balint's call for a ceasefire‚ "What if someone occupied your country? Wouldn't you fight them?" "Brittan [sic] wouldn't let ships with food sent by other countries into Ireland during the famine. My people starved‚" added Eaton. Just weeks after the Oct. 7 terror attacks on Israel‚ Eaton wrote‚ "the notion that Hamas is 'evil' for defending their state from occupation is absurd. They are owed a state. Pay up." An archival snapshot of Eaton's X account from 2022 shows him engaging with posts by Sen. Welch and the Libertarian Party. The bio for Eaton's X account reads‚ "Radical citizen pa-trolling demockracy and crapitalism for oathcreepers." The banner is captioned‚ "Libertarians want trans furrys to be able to protect their cannabis farms with unregistered machine guns." Seven Days highlighted how Eaton was named in 37 reports made to police agencies in Onondaga County between April 2007 and November 2021. However‚ Lt. Matthew Malinowski‚ a Syracuse police spokesman indicated there did not appear to be a "big history or anything that's racially motivated." Mary Reed‚ his mother‚ told the Daily Beast‚ "Jason has had a lot of struggles in his life but he is such a kind and loving person." Reed indicated her son suffered from depression and other mental health issues but had been "in such a good mood" hours before the shooting. A police report concerning a grievance from one of Eaton's former romantic partners similarly suggested Eaton had a "history of mental illness‚" reported Seven Days. Eaton's estranged partner corroborated Reed's sense that he was neither racist nor hateful. Dick deGraffe‚ a New York farmer‚ told Insider that the "progressive" Eaton he had known for 25 years had never evidenced any signs of extremism‚ racism‚ or Islamophobia. Texas officials set the record straight after White House claims Border Patrol was 'physically barred' from saving migrants

Texas authorities are fiercely pushing back against accusations that they blocked Border Patrol agents from helping three migrants who eventually drowned in the Rio Grande. Two migrant children and one migrant women drowned late Friday as they attempted to enter the United States near Shelby Park in Eagle Pass‚ Texas‚ an epicenter of the migrant crisis. That is the riverfront that Texas seized control of last week‚ arguing the federal government was not sufficiently enforcing immigration law. Despite the tragedy‚ Democrats and the Biden administration quickly played the blame game. They claimed Border Patrol agents tried to respond to the migrants-in-distress but couldn't because Texas National Guard soldiers blocked them. "In responding to a distress call from the Mexican government‚ Border Patrol agents were physically barred by Texas officials from entering the area‚" a Homeland Security spokesperson claimed. "The Texas governor’s policies are cruel‚ dangerous‚ and inhumane‚ and Texas’s blatant disregard for federal authority over immigration poses grave risks." The White House also claimed that Texas soldiers "blocked U.S. Border Patrol from attempting to provide emergency assistance."But the Texas Military Department is disputing these claims. The TMD confirmed Border Patrol contacted them about the migrants-in-distress‚ but the migrants were never located despite National Guard soldiers having "actively searched the river with lights and night vision goggles." That's because the migrants were located on Mexico's side of the river. The agency explained: At no time did TMD security personnel along the river observe any distressed migrants‚ nor did TMD turn back any illegal immigrants from the US during this period. Also‚ at no point was TMD made aware of any bodies in the area of Shelby Park nor was TMD made aware of any bodies being discovered on the U.S. side of the border regarding this situation.Importantly‚ the Biden administration and anyone blaming Texas for contributing to the deaths or for blocking Border Patrol agents have provided no evidence to corroborate their claims. The lack of evidence forced the TMD to release another statement on Sunday forcefully denying the claims."Claims of Border Patrol requesting access to save distressed migrants are inaccurate‚" TMD said. "Claims that TMD prevented Border Patrol from saving the lives of drowning migrants are wholly inaccurate."According to the agency‚ the migrants had already died and Mexican authorities had already recovered their bodies when Border Patrol learned about the distressed migrants — facts TMD said that Border Patrol agents themselves relayed to Texas National Guard soldiers. Border Patrol did not request access to the park to help the migrants‚ but "to secure two additional migrants that were presumed to have traveled with the deceased‚" TMD said.Mexican officials‚ meanwhile‚ confirmed that the deceased migrants never entered U.S. territory. THESE 3 racists were Joe Biden's mentors

One of the first things Joe Biden did when he became president was to spit in the faces of our Founders. He did this when he immediately abolished the 1776 Commission — which had as its goal advancing the education seminars teaching about the American founding. “Biden killed it‚” Mark Levin says‚ disgusted. But this is nothing new. The entire Democrat Party has always rejected what makes America great. “Even before Woodrow Wilson‚” who Levin describes as “the most infamous of the bunch.” Wilson started out as an intellectual and was president of Princeton University. “He was proud during his presidency; they didn’t admit a single black person. Not one. But he was a progressive intellectual‚ you know‚ supported eugenics. He resegregated the federal government. He resegregated the military after the Republicans had desegregated it‚” Levin explains. “The Democrat Party has been filled with anti-Americanism from day one‚” Levin continues‚ adding‚ “the party of slavery is not going to lecture us on democracy.” And Biden is carrying on the Democrat Party’s legacy. “When Joe Biden got to the Senate‚ when he was sworn in‚ he was barely 30 years old‚” Levin says‚ noting that he befriended three senators: James Eastland‚ John Stennis‚ and Robert Byrd. “All three of them were racist segregationists. All three of them hated black people. All three of them filibustered the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the 1965 Voting Rights Act‚” Levin explains‚ noting that Biden quickly followed suit. “Joe Biden was one of the leaders opposing the integration of public schools‚ and he made statements about he ‘doesn’t want his kids caught up in this jungle’ as a result of integration. He made these horrendous statements‚” he adds. White HBCU president placed on leave‚ accused of 'bullying' black former administrator who committed suicide

The president of a historically black public university in Missouri has been placed on paid leave after a former administrator committed suicide earlier this month — allegedly because of the "mistreatment" she received from the president. On January 8‚ the former vice president of student affairs at Lincoln University‚ Dr. Antoinette "Bonnie" Candia-Bailey‚ took her own life. Just 49 years old‚ Candia-Bailey issued a disturbing email shortly before her death‚ claiming that President John Moseley had targeted her for taking time off for mental-health treatment before ultimately firing her."You had no intention of retaining me as the (vice president of student affairs)‚" the email said in part‚ according to USA Today. "It went downhill after the FMLA and ADA documents were submitted due to my severe depression and anxiety. I requested to be removed under your leadership and from (the president’s advisory council) as this was causing significant attacks. This is all documented and emails sent."The email also noted the devastating performance evaluation Candia-Bailey received last November. She scored just 36 out of a possible 100. Her termination letter‚ dated January 3‚ claimed she was fired for her "continued failure to appropriately supervise [her] staff and continued failure to properly supervise the area of student affairs at Lincoln University.""Lincoln is where it started for me and where it ended‚" Candia-Bailey wrote in the apparent suicide note.Moseley‚ who is white‚ spent years as the head basketball coach at Lincoln U. before becoming athletic director in 2015. He was promoted to school president in 2022. Last May‚ he hired Candia-Bailey‚ an alumna of the school‚ to great fanfare."We are excited for Dr. Candia-Bailey to join our team. She brings a wealth of experience to move student affairs and our entire University forward‚" Moseley said at the time. "That division is vital to our students’ collegiate experience beyond the classroom‚ and I feel certain she is the right leader to guide those efforts."However‚ their professional relationship quickly turned sour‚ and sources told HBCU Buzz that Moseley regularly engaged in "bullying and severe mistreatment" of Candia-Bailey and ignored her "cries for help." After her death‚ students‚ alumni‚ and others began to call for Moseley's immediate firing‚ using the hashtag #FireMoseley to get the message trending on social media."Let our collective voice be heard—use #FireMoseley‚" wrote an alumnus known only as Coach Wilmore‚ who also spoke to USA Today about Candia-Bailey's death. "Together‚ we can spark a movement for a safer and more compassionate world. #JusticeForBonnie #BreakTheSilence #LincolnUniversityofMissouri #HBCU @hbcubuzz @hbcupridenation @hbcu_uaf @hbcugrad @HbcuPass.""How can this man work in the best interest of young people who are Black like me when he does not reflect them racially or culturally‚" alumna Frances E. Curtis wrote in a letter directed to the university’s board of curators. In a statement‚ the board claimed that Moseley had volunteered to be placed on paid administrative leave while a "third party" investigates "potential personnel issues and concerns recently raised regarding compliance with the University’s established policies and procedures."As a Board‚ we are committed to make certain the mental health of Lincoln University employees is a priority and that every employee is always treated with dignity and respect. The Board has confidence in the leadership team we have at Lincoln‚ but as we all work together to serve students and the Lincoln University community‚ this review will fully examine important questions‚ concerns and gather facts. Dr. Moseley agrees those issues should be examined and has volunteered to go on leave during the review so that it can move forward in a fully independent way.Candia-Bailey‚ who earned a Ph.D. in leadership studies and a master's in rehabilitation counseling-disability studies‚ spent decades cultivating a career in academic administration and promoting DEI. In her last stop before Lincoln‚ she served as chief diversity officer and Title IX coordinator at Elms College in Chicopee‚ Massachusetts."I believe diversity work is like a puzzle. I strive to help individuals find their pieces in the puzzle‚" said Candia-Bailey‚ described as "passionate" about helping black women develop their identities and examine their self-esteem.According to federal data cited by USA Today‚ 44% of HBCU students identify as black‚ while 40% identify as white.Neither Moseley nor the university responded to USA Today's requests for comment.Like Blaze News? Iowa caucuses should have ‘robust turnout’ even amid negative temps‚ predicts state’s GOP chair

The Iowa Republican Party chair‚ Jeff Kaufmann‚ stated that he believes the Monday caucuses will have “a robust turnout” despite the frigid negative temperatures.Kaufmann told Bloomberg reporters Sunday‚ “I really think now — as long as there’s not ice that actually makes it impossible to travel and as long as we don’t have whiteout conditions‚ snow actually falling — I think temperatures are the least of my concern in terms of depressing turnout. Iowans know how to dress for that.”“We’re cautioning them‚ of course‚ but I from what I’m hearing‚ from what I’m seeing in the rallies‚ from what I’ve been talking to dozens of committee chairs today and precinct captains‚ putting out fires here and there‚ I think it’s going to be a robust turnout‚” he continued.Iowa weather forecasts warned of subzero wind chills. It is expected to be the coldest Iowa caucus on record. According to AccuWeather‚ the high for the day is zero degrees‚ and some areas could feel as cold as -30. Last week‚ Kaufmann expressed concern that the freezing temperatures could “prevent a record-breaking turnout.”Caucuses are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. local time. To participate‚ voters must attend in person. The state’s GOP plans to release the results from its 1‚657 precincts in real time. While the unofficial results will be available to the public‚ the party will not declare a winner on Monday evening.According to Kaufmann‚ nearly 10‚000 volunteers are assisting with the caucuses this year.“So we’re very‚ very confident that we have done everything humanly possible to make sure that this caucus comes off without a hitch‚” he stated.Kaufmann said Iowa has “the most transparent process” in the nation for tallying caucus votes. The process is run by the party and “not a state-run model‚” he noted.“The votes are counted in front of the room‚” he explained. “Then the votes are recorded in front of the room. And each candidate can have a representative watching them counted and reported in front of the room.”Iowa residents must be registered Republicans to vote. However‚ voters can switch their party registration at caucus sites.Kaufmann warned voters that they cannot vote in both parties’ caucuses‚ addressing concerns that some Democrats may try to switch their party affiliation to influence the GOP’s results. He stated that Republican Attorney General Brenna Bird might prosecute those who try to vote twice.“It is against the law‚ and she will prosecute‚ I believe‚” he stated. “If a Democrat attempts to do that‚ and participate in both‚ that’s against the law‚ and we’re going to be monitoring that very‚ very carefully.”Former President Donald Trump is currently leading in recent Iowa polls‚ with former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis vying for second position.
