The BBC has a long and inglorious history of having to apologize for anti-Israel reporting and Tuesday was just the latest installment. This time‚ on Christmas Eve‚ a BBC radio report repeated the Hamas claim that the Israeli Army was conducting summary executions in Gaza. Over two weeks later‚ the network that many love to hail as the gold standard in reporting objectivity wrote on its Corrections and Clarifications website: In overnight output we ran a story about Hamas accusing the Israeli army of carrying out summary executions in the Gaza strip. This was a Hamas statement‚ but although the accusations were attributed and our story contained a response from the Israeli military saying they were unaware of the incident and that Hamas was a terrorist organisation that did not value truth‚ we had not made sufficient effort to seek corroborating evidence to justify reporting the Hamas claim. We apologise for this mistake. It is not the first or even the second time that the BBC has had to issue a correction during the war. The network previously apologized for claiming that Israel was targeting medical personnel and Arab speakers at the Al-Shifa Hospital. They also had to do damage control when a reporter claimed it was “hard to see what else… other than an Israeli airstrike” could’ve hit Al-Ahli Arab Hospital. The BBC’s history of anti-Israel bias and subsequent corrections and apologies also predates the war. For example‚ anchor Anjana Gadgil declared earlier in 2023 that the IDF is “happy to kill children.” After the Al-Shifa apology‚ the BBC noted that “this error which fell below our usual editorial standards‚” which only raises questions about those standards because this keeps happening.

For the second time in as many weeks‚ another far-left and controversial figure has quit the family of Comcast-owned news networks. Last week‚ NBC correspondent Miguel Almaguer announced on Instagram that he would be leaving the leftist network after nearly 20 years; a period in which he had submitted a plethora of liberally biased reporting. Former MSNBC weekend host Mehdi Hasan would later follow him out the door. “Seen a lot. Done a lot. Learned a lot. Thankful for my nearly 2 decade [sic] long run at NBC News. But more than anything grateful for those in the trenches with me. With them it was more an adventure than work‚” he touted his time with NBC. Almaguer concluded the post with his hope for the future: “Change is hard and goodbyes aren't easy. But turning the page is exciting. In news ... I love a great last line. This one is still being written.” In his biggest controversy‚ Almaguer was suspended in 2022 after reporting on the home invasion of then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) California mansion. In his original offending report‚ Almaguer suggested that Pelosi’s husband Paul was seen on police body camera acting strangely: After a knock and announcement‚ the front door was opened by Mr. Pelosi‚ the 82-year-old did not immediately declare an emergency or try to leave his home‚ but instead began walking several feet back into the foyer towards the assailant and away from police. It's unclear if the 82-year-old was already injured or what his mental state was‚ say sources… Why Pelosi didn't try to flee or tell responding officers he was in distress is unclear. The NBC reporter was accused of “inflame[ing] right-wing conspiracy theories.” And‚ as noted by TV Newser‚ “Upon returning from suspension‚ Almaguer saw his screen time on the network reduced considerably.” Almaguer was also one of the journalists who helped to spread actor Jussie Smollett’s hoax about being attacked by MAGA hat-wearing assailants. “Certainly‚ there are many indications of a hate crime here. They are looking for two suspects who were apparently wearing Make America Great Again hats‚” he reported at the time. The day after former President Trump’s 2016 victory‚ Almaguer was one of the NBC journalists who wanted to fan the flames of racial tensions. “For 16-year-old Valerie Travi‚ who was born in the US‚ this election seems more like an eviction…With Clinton‚ she saw hope. With Trump‚ helplessness‚” he lamented. Almost three years later‚ NBC warned that Russia was trying to stoke racial tensions in America by promoting viral videos of racially motivated incidents. Almaguer was one of the journalists who also peddled the viral videos‚ giving them more traction than they deserved. Most disturbingly‚ Almaguer once hyped California’s implementation of an assisted suicide law. “Elizabeth Wallner is a survivor; but today‚ the 52-year-old now says she has the freedom to control her death‚” he boasted in 2016. “Starting today under California's end-of-life act‚ terminally ill patients can request medical aid in dying.” So far‚ there’s no word yet on where Almaguer will be popping up next.

The Democratic Party and progressive movement legitimately owe black Americans reparations‚ and everyone knows it. Leftists convinced black people that the U.S. government was a proper substitute for and better caretaker than God and the truths spelled out in the Bible. Progressives bribed black women into believing that feminism‚ sexual liberation‚ and the matriarchy were superior to marriage‚ sexual modesty‚ and the patriarchy. They removed legitimate religious faith and established themselves as the god of black people‚ the controllers of black destiny. “Diversity‚ equity‚ and inclusion” is the reparations they concocted to pacify their black worshippers. You see‚ rather than acknowledge the catastrophic consequences of the matriarchal culture they imposed on black Americans‚ progressives invented a system of rewards they can hand out to their most ardent supporters. DEI allows progressives to sleep comfortably knowing the strategy they sold black people decimated black families‚ children‚ and neighborhoods in ways that slavery and segregation could not. God created an immune system and approach to life that can cure any physical‚ mental‚ or emotional man-made disease. Progressives think they’re smarter than God. The average white liberal looks at the carnage these policies caused and says‚ “Well‚ at least we lowered the standards enough that a few of the people we crippled can sneak through the cracks if they obey us.” All this came to my mind as I tried to discern what led Mark Cuban to elect himself as the ultimate defender of diversity‚ equity‚ and inclusion. The former owner of the Dallas Mavericks has spent the past week debating Elon Musk and others on social media about the merits of diversity‚ equity‚ and inclusion. Cuban is getting trashed. It’s rather embarrassing. A man who rose to fame in a league that employs 80% black players is lecturing everyone else about the need to de-emphasize merit and prioritize racial‚ gender‚ and sexual “diversity” in hiring. It makes no sense. Well‚ if you look a bit deeper‚ it does make sense. Cuban wants to be a left-wing Donald Trump. Cuban sold his interest in the Mavericks and quit his popular TV show “Shark Tank” to clear the path for his so-far unannounced presidential bid. No one believes Joe Biden is running for re-election. So Cuban is one of a number of leftists jockeying to replace Biden as the Democrats’ nominee. Cuban is posturing as a male feminist and racial justice champion. Feminism and “racial justice” are primary core values and principles of progressives. His critics are digging into his history and exposing the hypocrisy of the public positions he’s taking. Cuban is exposing himself as a bigot. In a deleted tweet from 2020 chastising white people‚ Cuban claimed that George Floyd’s life is the story of “almost every black man.” Really? We’re all drug addicts and career criminals? Wow. Cuban and the Democrats are wrestling with the failure of the social change policies they prescribed for black people 60 years ago. That’s when Lyndon Johnson started injecting black people with the “Great Society” vaccine‚ and feminists provided booster shots of sexual liberation and promiscuity. For 50 years‚ as black people began to suffer more and more negative consequences from the progressive lab experiment‚ leftists got away with blaming “racist” conservatives for the bad results. That rationalization has lost its effectiveness over time. When you vote for the same party year after year for six decades but get no positive outcomes‚ eventually you start looking for a better explanation.It’s a lot like the experimental COVID vaccines. After you take your third‚ fourth‚ or fifth booster‚ always wear a mask‚ and you still contract the virus‚ you begin to question the effectiveness of the experimental medical trial. Black people are now questioning the effectiveness of liberalism. So liberals mandated diversity‚ equity‚ and inclusion across corporate America to guarantee high-profile‚ symbolic outcomes intended to pacify frustrated black voters. Mark Cuban and liberals will never admit that they concocted a “cure” for racism that does far more damage than the “racism” they pretend to be fighting. God created an immune system and approach to life that can cure any physical‚ mental‚ or emotional man-made disease. Progressives think they’re smarter than God. They believe they’re the arbiters of truth and fit to determine outcomes. They’ve decided to issue reparations for the crimes they committed against black people. Rather than DEI‚ why not just allow black people to worship Jesus Christ without shame? That worship freed us from slavery‚ ended segregation and Jim Crow‚ and made America the safest‚ most opportunity-rich‚ and most prosperous place on the planet for black people.

Biden’s open-border policies have wreaked havoc on this country. Crime has skyrocketed‚ school systems are collapsing under the weight of the influx‚ and American taxpayers are funding the care of people who broke the law to be here. It’s complete and utter insanity. The problem has escalated to such a degree that even some illegal immigrants are starting to voice concern themselves. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas reportedly admitted on Monday that immigration authorities release over 85% of the migrants that they detain.Mayorkas met privately with Border Patrol agents in Eagle Pass‚ Texas‚ where he was asked about comments he recently made on Fox News. During an interview last week‚ Fox News anchor Bret Baier asked Mayorkas about the number of migrants being released into the U.S. each day‚ citing sources that say it is about 70% of all who are detained.Dodging the question‚ Mayorkas responded‚ "It would not surprise me at all. I know the data."But on Monday‚ the secretary provided a more direct answer‚ according to multiple Border Patrol sources present at the meeting. Platforms like YouTube‚ Rumble‚ and Patreon are a huge part of that battle‚ letting stand-ups share their work on their own terms. More entrepreneurial comics are building free speech meccas to ensure they can’t be canceled.Carolla leads the chargeYou could argue Adam Carolla pioneered that maneuver. The podcaster and comic built his self-described “pirate ship” after leaving terrestrial radio in 2009 to make sure no one could cancel him for sharing the “wrong” jokes.Cancel culture has ignored Carolla’s “problematic” opinions on race‚ sexuality‚ and progressive groupthink ever since.Other comedians are bypassing traditional Hollywood platforms and the rules associated with them.Take Andrew Schulz. The New York native had a deal with an unnamed streamer to release his 2022 comedy special “Infamous.” Said streamer balked at some of the special’s jokes‚ so Schulz says he bought the rights back to the material‚ which apparently wasn’t cheap.He released it himself and quickly earned back three times his investment.And he’s not alone.Comedy can surviveMany comedians now bypass Max‚ Netflix‚ and other outlets to stream their work on their terms.Jim Breuer’s “Country Boy Will Survive” stand-up special‚ released in December‚ has earned 1 million views on YouTube alone in under a month. Each view burnishes his brand and expands the potential audience for his future stand-up gigs.In a 2022 “Forbes” article‚ comedian Mark Normand said that having to self-release on YouTube after getting rejected by the major streamers turned out to be a blessing in disguise:“Now looking back‚ so glad I own it‚ so glad I did it myself. Look‚ [making] a couple hundred [thousand] on Netflix would be exciting and obviously I haven’t made that‚ but I own it‚ I can chop it up‚ I can share it easily. I have this underdog kind of vibe to it so people feel like they discovered me or whatever it is‚ so it kind of worked out in the end.”Ironically‚ Netflix aired Normand’s “Soup to Nuts” comedy special the following year.Platforms like YouTube aren’t perfect. They occasionally censor material‚ although that mostly involves news-related content or so-called “medical misinformation.” Comics still have more room to be creative‚ and outrageous‚ on the massive platform. They can also earn advertising-based revenue along the way.Louis C.K. goes rogueThe most extreme example of a comedian going rogue remains Louis C.K. The comedian once had Hollywood Inc. on speed-dial. Critics adored his FX show “Louie‚” and he could sell out Madison Square Garden. His career collapsed in 2017 when multiple women accused him of pleasuring himself in front of them and he swiftly confessed.He lost his TV show‚ upcoming film gigs‚ his FX showcase‚ and his good standing in an industry known for wobbly morals.The comedian still had his fans. Some forgave him for his egregious behavior. Others thought the punishment – the loss of multimillion-dollar jobs‚ national humiliation‚ and the end of his Hollywood career – fit the crime.So C.K. reached out to them via his email list and started performing without the usual support from the media or late-night TV appearances.Early last year C.K. sold out Madison Square Garden again.You can't say that on YouTubeOther comedians know streaming specials are only part of the success equation.
