6 Lies From Ms. Magazine Piece on Pro-Life 'Forced Birth' Movement

Ms. Magazine‚ which has a history of fabricating truths‚ straight-up lying‚ and being just about as pro-left as an outlet can be‚ released a piece last week titled “Punish‚ Torture‚ Kill: The Reality of Pregnancy in ‘Pro-Life’ America.” The piece aims to insist that the pro-life movement only exists to “force women to carry pregnancies against their will.” The piece is penned by Jill Filipovic‚ one of the staunchest abortion supporters in existence. Filipovic‚ when not writing dramatized pieces for Ms. Magazine‚ writes for Cosmopolitan and CNN‚ two notoriously left-leaning‚ abortion supporting outlets.  It’s no wonder she went ham with all the lies on this piece. Lie #1: Pro-lifers are forced birthers.  Obviously that’s false. The pro-life movement simply doesn’t think it’s morally right to murder an innocent child and believes that pregnancies shouldn’t be deliberately terminated for convenience's sake. The pro-life movement isn’t forcing anyone to get pregnant - hence‚ the pro-life movement isn't forcing anyone to give birth either. Lie #2: Miscarriages and abortions are the same thing.  Throughout her piece‚ Filipovic likened abortions to miscarriages just about every chance she got‚ a categorically false comparison. Miscarriages are when a child spontaneously dies in utero. Abortions are when a child’s life is purposely ended while in utero. No pro-life law makes it so that a woman who miscarries cannot receive proper medical attention or care. Filipovic’s fearmongering tactics aren’t as impactful with that fact though (hence why she left it out). Filipovic also brought up the story of Brittany Watts‚ who she claims is currently “being prosecuted for having a miscarriage.” Well‚ that’s how Filipovic wants you to view the story. Watts is in trouble because she tried to flush her 21-week-old baby's remains down the toilet‚ not because she had a miscarriage. But Filipovic’s phrasing is better for her point‚ as she frets‚ “Watts’ case is a chilling preview of what could come: Miscarriage criminalized in myriad ways." Again‚ false. Lie #3: Abortion is “life-saving.” Filipovic also brought up Kate Cox who recently came into the public eye after her home state of Texas denied her an abortion because her baby wasn’t threatening her life and she was past the legal limit to abort in the state. Cox's child had been diagnosed with a fetal abnormality that could result in severe deformity or even death‚ but Cox’s life was not in danger.  But to Filipovic‚ carrying a child who may be born disabled or ill constitutes a "medically necessary" abortion. It doesn't. Related: UPDATE: Texas Supreme Court BLOCKS Dismemberment of Baby‚ Mother Flees State Lie #4: Babies with abnormalities need to die. This is false. There have been countless examples and stories of babies who were diagnosed in the womb with trisomy 18 who ended up living long lives. If there’s a chance at success‚ there’s no need to eliminate that possibility - but again‚ that doesn’t matter to Filipovic. Lie #5: The pro-life movement uses nuance to justify abortion in some cases. In her article‚ Filipovic also brought up what’s called a “double effect” to essentially claim that pro-lifers will justify abortion sometimes. This is the principle that some actions can be considered morally acceptable even though they have both good and bad effects. Filipovic specifically referenced ectopic pregnancies and the fact the pro-life movement doesn't consider treating them to be abortions. Well‚ that's because they aren't. The thing about that is that the pro-life movement recognizes the following‚ as noted by Focus on the Family: The sole intent of an abortion is to produce a dead baby – that’s why it’s called a “failed abortion” when the baby survives. Treating a pregnancy complication that threatens the mother’s life to save her life‚ such as ectopic pregnancy‚ does not intend to cause the death of the preborn child. Our treatment intends to save the life of the mother. As pro-life physicians‚ we are pro-life for both mother and baby‚ so the decision is clear – we save who we can. Lie #6: The pro-life movement thinks women are put on Earth for subservience. "This is how dark of a moment we are in‚” Filipovic wrote regarding the current nature of the abortion debate‚ continuing: At the heart of the “pro-life” movement is the idea that women are put on this earth for subservience. This is a religious idea (in the U.S.‚ rooted in Christianity) that women are obedient helpmeets for male heads of household‚ and all-giving caretakers of children. There is no room for a woman to pursue her own desires or dreams‚ no worthy woman who prioritizes herself; there is only the duty to meet the needs of others‚ and to serve both the men who are your superiors and the children whose lives are your important than yours. If this were true‚ there'd be no Christian women in academia‚ in the business world‚ in government‚ or in nay other sector of life than in the home. Obviously‚ that's not true. Seeking to save babies from being murdered doesn't mean you want women to be a doormat - it just means you don't think babies should be murdered. This Ms. Magazine piece by Filipovic is just another leftist attempt to misinform in order to gain more support against life. It’s disturbing that the left allows lies like this to spread but at this point‚ it’s not that surprising anymore. Consider this your sign‚ again‚ to not always believe everything you see on the internet. Go Woke‚ Go Broke? Fox Correspondent Breaks News on BlackRock’s ESG

The wages of ESG advocacy have come due for BlackRock according to Fox Business correspondent Charlie Gasparino Gasparino made clear that BlackRock CEO Larry Fink’s obsession with pushing radical Environmental‚ Social and Governance investing was going to cost a significant number of BlackRock employees their jobs on Cavuto Live Jan. 6. Gasparino told Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto‚ “More bad news coming out of BlackRock. As you know‚ BlackRock is… the world's largest money manager‚ huge into ESG. And because of that‚ it's become a lightning rod for criticism‚ particularly–in red states.” Gasparino elaborated in a Fox Business report that BlackRock would fire “around 600 employees” or around 3% of BlackRock’s workforce. During his Fox News appearance‚ Gasparino noted that the ESG backlash had reached as far as Republican presidential candidates and the average investor‚ leading people to withdraw funds from BlackRock in protest. “Larry Fink‚ the head of BlackRock‚ his name came up very negatively in the latest presidential debate because he forces‚ allegedly‚ ESG on companies‚ and that’s progressive investing‚” Gasparino added. “People are pulling money out of BlackRock's funds‚ particularly–red state pension funds. And because of that‚ we understand‚ they're going to have a round of layoffs next week.” Gasparino went on to note that “Republicans who run big pension funds” were pushing hard against ESG investing‚ before adding that BlackRock was far from optimistic ahead of a Friday earnings announcement. Gasparino said‚ “They're expecting a decline in earnings. [BlackRock’s] stock has been off about 2% so far this year. So put it all together and that’s a recipe for layoffs.”  BlackRock and ESG investing have come under fire from state governments across the country.  Local officials have testified before Congress about how ESG investing undermines American energy. Furthermore‚ state governments have divested from BlackRock to have their pension funds responsibly managed. Members of Congress have introduced legislation to protect investors and prevent racial discrimination by fighting back against ESG investing.  Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) responded to the news with a post on X‚ “I warned BlackRock to prioritize investments that result in the highest returns—not fund ESG scams. BlackRock failed to heed that advice and now is laying off 600 employees. ESG hurts both Americans’ savings accounts and the funds managing them.” I warned BlackRock to prioritize investments that result in the highest returns—not fund ESG scams. BlackRock failed to heed that advice and now is laying off 600 employees. ESG hurts both Americans’ savings accounts and the funds managing them. https://t.co/iYL0B0bSFZ — Tom Cotton (@SenTomCotton) January 8‚ 2024 These developments have led Fink‚ who once confidently bragged that "at BlackRock we are forcing behaviors" to dial back his rhetoric on ESG. Now‚ according to Gasparino‚ they have led to the firing of 3% of BlackRock’s workforce.  Conservatives are under attack! SEC Rules Against Apple’s Bid to Nuke Free Speech Shareholder Proposal

Apple just lost its bid to maintain its strict anti-free speech policies for its App Store. After Apple refused to let its shareholders vote on whether they want the company to be transparent about its app store censorship practices‚ the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) decided to weigh in with a Jan. 2 decision. Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) wrote to the SEC regarding a shareholders’ proposal to require transparency from Apple on its content moderation — i.e. censorship — of apps. While Apple attempted to prevent the proposal coming up for a vote at its shareholders meeting‚ the SEC ruled against Apple in an apparent win for free speech. The Alliance Defending Freedom originally wrote to the SEC on behalf of the American Family Association in November regarding Apple’s censorship. ADF noted a goal for “Apple to investigate and report on how it is protecting the free speech and freedom of religion of its users from government interference.” SEC ruled against Apple’s bid to exclude that proposal from its proxy materials for its 2024 Annual Shareholders Meeting. In its decision‚ the SEC explained that AFA’s shareholder proposal called for the board of directors to “conduct an investigation and issue a report evaluating the standards and procedures the Company uses to curate app content [i.e. censorship] on its various platforms‚ and procedures by which the Company manages disputes between governmental interests and user rights.”  ADF Senior Counsel and Senior Vice President for Corporate Engagement Jeremy Tedesco told Fox Business that “‘This is a big win. This SEC ruling gets shareholders one step closer to holding Apple accountable for vague and subjective App Store policies that are causing censorship.’" Apple has enforced censorship of apps before‚ with one infamous example being its deplatforming of alternative social media app Parler. The SEC message explained‚ “We are unable to concur in your view that the Company [Apple] may exclude the Proposal under Rule 14a-8(i)(10). In our view‚ the Company has not substantially implemented the Proposal.” Reclaim The Net summarized Tedesco’s argument to Apple that the company should be crystal clear that it is “not using its power to discriminate against user’s speech and beliefs – irrespective of their political or even religious persuasion.”  Conservatives are under attack. Tech leaders building city in California 'not at all' worried about public backlash or accusations of foreign ties‚ CEO says

A group of elite technology leaders planning to build a new city in California are "not at all" concerned about the public backlash regarding their project or accusations of foreign ties‚ the CEO of the proposal told the New York Post Monday. What's the background? An investment group‚ Flannery Associates‚ purchases 52‚000 acres of land near Travis Air Force Base in Solano County. The identities of the group's backers were largely unknown‚ which sparked concerns that buyers with ties to China or other foreign adversaries may have acquired the land. An August New York Times report revealed that Silicon Valley tech investors were behind the mystery purchase. According to the group's attorney‚ the investors acquired the land to "diversify their portfolio." The backers included Andreessen Horowitz‚ Laurene Powell Jobs‚ Michael Moritz‚ Reid Hoffman‚ Patrick and John Collison‚ Daniel Gross‚ and Nat Friedman‚ the Times reported. The United States Treasury Department's Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States is still investigating the purchase‚ citing potential national security concerns. The technology and finance tycoons plan to use the land to build California Forever‚ a walkable and sustainable city similar to Paris or New York City's West Village‚ Blaze News previously reported. The moguls' investment ignited a significant amount of backlash within the community. Fairfield Mayor Catherine Moy stated in November that despite the group's grand plans for the land‚ no one had contacted the city to discuss the proposal. She told the Post‚ "A couple of the investors already are very connected with China‚ business-wise."California Democratic Rep. John Garamendi slammed the group for allegedly using "strong-arm mobster techniques" to obtain the land from local farmers.Flannery Associates has consistently maintained that it has already disclosed any foreign investor ties and "complied with all government inquiries.""While most area electeds have taken an open-minded approach to the opportunity our project presents for local jobs‚ investments‚ homes for middle class families‚ and clean power‚ a couple of local politicians are unfortunately and irresponsibly spreading rumors and misinformation to insinuate that California Forever is a not an American company‚" the investment group stated.Investors 'not at all' concernedCalifornia Forever CEO Jan Sramek recently told the Post that Solano County residents seem receptive to the idea of building the city despite the negative publicity. "I think you really have a situation where you've got a small but very vocal group of people who don't like the project‚" Sramek stated. "If you talk to the average person in the county‚ they are really excited about it."Last month‚ Sramek told the Post that Flannery Associates "provided all of the information to CFIUS a long time ago" and that it was "frankly absurd" to suggest the group was hiding any foreign ties. He rejected rumors that the investment group aimed to build a "utopian" city. Sramek said that California Forever "need[s] to be clear about the fact that we are not doing it.""[When] people see the plans that we'll put forward in January‚ it will be very clear that it's none of that and it's very traditional‚ good American urbanism‚" Sramek told the Post. "If that's a utopia‚ then California is in real trouble‚ because that shouldn't be a utopia."Sramek is "pretty confident" that the November ballot measure to move forward with building the city will pass but added that "there would be other ways to build the project."The group envisions a city with short commutes‚ high-paying jobs‚ sustainable energy‚ and affordable living‚ the Post reported. It plans to release additional details about the project this month.Moy‚ who hopes to block the project‚ believes backers will regret their investment."[Sramek] obviously has Silicon Valley billionaires as investors. I welcome them to come and invest right here in Fairfield‚ Suisan City and Solano County‚" Moy stated.Like Blaze News? THIS is the most disturbing part about defense secretary's hospitalization

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s three-day stay in the hospital was a closely guarded secret. So closely guarded‚ in fact‚ that the Pentagon did not alert President Joe Biden or Austin’s second in command about his ailment. Austin was reportedly dealing with complications following an elective medical procedure. “The president doesn’t need to know‚ you know‚ ‘cause he’s not making the decisions‚” Glenn Beck jokes. Meanwhile‚ we’re simultaneously engaged in two theaters of war. “I believe the Iranians are still launching rockets at our ships. Was there no time in the last seven days where somebody was like‚ ‘You know what? Let’s call the Pentagon‚’” Glenn says. Austin was even brought into the Intensive Care Unit while the deputy secretary of defense‚ who was to assume the defense secretary’s responsibilities‚ was on vacation in Puerto Rico. “So‚ for days she was the acting secretary of defense‚ but she didn’t even know it‚” Glenn says. “You almost understand that they wouldn’t tell Biden‚ because you know‚ he’s out of it‚ but how do people in the Pentagon not know?” Stu Burguiere says in agreement. Stu believes this is quite telling of just how defunct our government is. “How are we not recognizing that statement is a massive problem? That the American people are actually in a position where they think it’s normal that the president of the United States just is so out of it‚ they wouldn’t tell him that the secretary of defense was in ICU?” Stu exclaims. 'Heads have to roll': Outrage grows over Lloyd Austin hospitalization cover-up — but Biden won't fire him

Someone is likely to lose their job at the Pentagon over the shocking scandal involving Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's secret ICU hospitalization‚ but that person won't be the secretary.Austin was hospitalized in the ICU at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center last Monday with serious complications following an elective medical procedure before Christmas. The Pentagon has not released details about the procedure or the complications. But instead of informing President Joe Biden‚ senior members of the government‚ Congress‚ the Pentagon press corps‚ or even Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks — who‚ while on vacation in Puerto Rico‚ assumed partial responsibility for Austin's duties while unaware that he was hospitalized — about the secretary's hospitalization‚ Austin's staff told everyone that Austin was working remotely. The scandal has resulted in outrage over the shocking lack of transparency and what appears to be outright deception regarding the health of a senior member of the Cabinet.Politico reported Sunday that there is growing pressure for someone‚ anyone‚ to lose their job over the scandal."Someone's head has to roll‚" a Pentagon official told the outlet.A former senior Defense Department official agreed‚ explaining‚ "Not telling the [White House]‚ Congress or the media he is sick‚ and then telling Pentagon staff he is working from home is next level. This is a problem. Someone made the decision not to disclose. That person will likely be gone shortly.""Heads have to roll‚" said Brett Bruen‚ a former diplomat who worked in the Obama administration. "This is not a minor miscommunication. It’s about the confidence that our national security structure has in its leadership and that the leadership is acting in a transparent way."However‚ that person will not be Austin. The White House confirmed on Monday that Biden is not considering firing Austin."The president is not considering replacing Secretary Austin‚" a White House official said. "The president continues to have full trust and confidence in the secretary."Another official‚ moreover‚ told Politico that even if Austin were to offer his resignation‚ Biden would not accept it.White House spokesperson John Kirby‚ meanwhile‚ downplayed the significance of the incident during a press gaggle on Monday‚ telling reporters the administration will review protocol for Cabinet officials notifying the White House of health problems."As you might expect‚ we’ll take a look at process and procedure here and try to learn from this experience‚" he said. "If there’s changes that need to be made in terms of process and procedure‚ we’ll do that." Like Blaze News? Billionaire grad Bill Ackman excoriates Harvard‚ effectively leaves Democratic Party over DEI nonsense

Billionaire grad Bill Ackman excoriates Harvard‚ effectively leaves Democratic Party over DEI nonsense

A billionaire who has previously donated lavishly to his alma mater‚ Harvard University‚ has since slammed the school and even distanced himself from the Democratic Party over what he called "the fundamentally flawed and racist ideology" of diversity‚ equity‚ and inclusion.Bill Ackman‚ 57‚ is the founder and CEO of Pershing Square Capital Management‚ a hedge fund management company based out of New York City. He also holds a B.A. and an M.B.A. from Harvard and has reportedly donated to the school generously‚ giving perhaps more than $40 million to the Harvard Kennedy School alone since he graduated. However‚ he has recently become concerned about various leftist ideologies adopted by Harvard‚ especially its embrace of DEI‚ which Ackman called a destructive "oppressor/oppressed framework." When then-President Claudine Gay — who helped establish Harvard's Office of Diversity‚ Equity‚ Inclusion‚ and Belonging — told Congress last month that calls for Jewish genocide were not necessarily a violation of school policy‚ Ackman‚ who identifies as Jewish‚ joined a chorus of voices in calling for her resignation."I have always believed that diversity is an important feature of a successful organization‚ but by diversity I mean diversity in its broadest form: diversity of viewpoints‚ politics‚ ethnicity‚ race‚ age‚ religion‚ experience‚ socioeconomic background‚ sexual identity‚ gender‚ one’s upbringing‚ and more‚" Ackman wrote in a lengthy X post on January 3."What I learned‚ however‚ was that DEI was not about diversity in its purest form‚ but rather DEI was a political advocacy movement on behalf of certain groups that are deemed oppressed under DEI’s own methodology." — (@) Gay stepped down last week amid multiple accusations of plagiarism. She will remain at Harvard as a professor and collect a staggering annual salary of $900‚000.In the X post following her resignation‚ Ackman admitted that his previous support for DEI was "naive" and called for a return to merit-based policies at Harvard and the permanent closure of Harvard's ODEIB."Harvard must once again become a meritocratic institution which does not discriminate for or against faculty or students based on their skin color‚ and where diversity is understood in its broadest form so that students can learn in an environment which welcomes diverse viewpoints from faculty and students from truly diverse backgrounds and experiences‚" Ackman wrote. His disgust with DEI is not just limited to Harvard. It has even affected his political views — including the direction of his considerable political largesse. "I am no longer a Democrat‚" he announced in a tweet directed to anti-DEI crusader Christopher Rufo on Sunday. "I am a centrist. I care only about the truth. ..."I have made direct and PAC donations to three Republican candidates in this election‚ @GovChristie‚ @NikkiHaley and @VivekGRamaswamy. I recently wrote a check for [Democrat] @deanbphillips‚" the post continued. — (@) Elsewhere‚ Ackman praised Rufo's book‚ "America's Cultural Revolution: How the Radical Left Conquered Everything‚" calling it "excellent and carefully researched" and "a definite must read." He also stated that he had registered as a Democrat to vote in a previous primary but that his vote remains up for grabs."I will vote for and support whoever is best for our country regardless of their party affiliation‚" he said.Critics on the left‚ however‚ have accused Ackman of harboring resentment against Harvard for not catering to his whims despite his healthy donations. The Nation called Ackman "America's most entitled donor." Yale epidemiologist Gregg Gonsalves described Ackman as an "odious" "bully" who "thinks his money equals wisdom.""Time to stand up to people like him‚" Gonsalves said.Like Blaze News?
