Get Lost in Space With the Latest Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Trailer

News Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Get Lost in Space With the Latest Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Trailer The space Goonies certainly seem good enough By Molly Templeton | Published on November 1, 2024 Screenshot: Lucasfilm Comment 0 Share New Share Screenshot: Lucasfilm Since the beginning, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has been positioning itself as something like The Goonies in space, and the latest trailer kind of lives up to the pitch—from the ’80s soundtrack (“Major Tom,” with some extra adventure flourishes) to the specific vibe of some kids who don’t really mean to get in trouble. They just kind of do. And what trouble it is: Swept away across the vast reaches of space in a maybe-not-s0-derelict spaceship, they make typical kid mistakes (don’t flash those Republic credits around, punk!) and run into a savior who might be his own kind of trouble. Jude Law plays the main adult in the room here, a fellow named Jod Na Nawood who says he will get them home, and they will make a partnership. The previous trailer suggested Jod (Jod Na? Is Na a middle name or what?) is a Jedi, but that’s less clear here. Skeleton Crew‘s quartet of young adventurers is made up of Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), KB (Kyriana Kratter), Neel (Robert Timothy Smith), and Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong). Wim’s dad is played by Tunde Adebimpe (of TV on the Radio and Twisters), and the droid SM33 is voiced by Nick Frost. The series comes from Jon Watts and Christopher Ford; Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are producers, of course, and the show is set in their post-Return of the Jedi TV era. Its eight episodes are directed by Daniels (Everything Everywhere All at Once), David Lowery (The Green Knight), Lee Isaac Chung (Twisters), Jake Schreier (Beef), and Bryce Dallas Howard (The Mandalorian). The adventure begins December 3rd on Disney+.[end-mark] The post Get Lost in Space With the Latest Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Trailer appeared first on Reactor.

An Emily the Strange Animated Movie Is Coming

News Emily the Strange An Emily the Strange Animated Movie Is Coming Animated black cats? Sign us up. By Molly Templeton | Published on November 1, 2024 Comment 0 Share New Share Hot on the heels of a very successful story about a girl with black hair, black clothes, and a goth aesthetic… comes another such story. Emily the Strange, who was created by Rob Reger and Cosmic Debris 30 years ago, is getting the animated movie treatment from Warner Bros. and Bad Robot. Emily began her existence as skateboard art designed by Nathan Carrico, but her empire is much larger now, spanning everything from clothes to comics to novels to games. According to the official Emily the Strange website, she is “a sharp-witted and rebellious young woman with a taste for invention, philosophical musing, scientific experimentation, and radical artistry. When she’s not tinkering in the lab or grinding rails at the skatepark, she’s curled up with her four black kitties, Mystery, Miles, Neechee, and Sabbath.” Pamela Ribon, who has worked on animated movies including Moana and Nimona, is writing the Emily script; the movie will be executive produced by Trevor Duke-Moretz (The Miseducation of Cameron Post) and creator Reger. In a statement quoted by The Hollywood Reporter, Ribon said, “I’ve always been drawn to Emily’s risk-taking, genre-bending attitude and style. I mean, brains and bangs? There’s nobody cooler. This one’s going to be so much fun.”[end-mark] The post An Emily the Strange Animated Movie Is Coming appeared first on Reactor.

Movie Stars You Forgot Were In ’90s Sitcoms

It's easy to forget that some of Hollywood's biggest stars weren't born famous. They had to get their start somewhere, and it usually wasn't a box office hit, but something more along the lines of a commercial or sitcom appearance. See if you remember any of these now-iconic actors in their 1990s sitcom roles. Home Improvement Dave Chappelle is considered to be one of the most well-known and... Source

The English language has over 170,000 words that are in use, and over 47,000 that are obsolete. Obsolete words are ones that people don't know or don't use. House Judiciary Chair Requests Answers on YouTube Suppression of Joe Rogan Trump Interview

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan has raised concerns about YouTube’s handling of a recent interview between former President Donald Trump and podcast host Joe Rogan. Jordan’s alarm centers on allegations that the platform may have deliberately downranked the visibility of the three-hour conversation, which did not appear at the top of search results when users searched for “Joe Rogan Trump” or “Joe Rogan Donald Trump.” In a letter addressed to Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Jordan expressed his apprehensions, stating, “We write to seek an immediate briefing on (1) YouTube’s decision to censor Joe Rogan’s interview with President Trump, and (2) Google Search’s elevation of material critical of the interview.” We obtained a copy of the letter for you here. Further compounding the issue, YouTube issued a statement on X, acknowledging issues with the interview’s visibility. The statement clarified, “For some searches on Monday the original 3-hour interview didn’t appear prominently. Short excerpts uploaded by the Joe Rogan channel appeared, but we know it was frustrating for users looking to find the full video.” The platform assured that measures were being taken to amend the search results to better feature the full podcast soon. Jordan’s correspondence also reflected a broader critique of the tech giant’s recent actions, suggesting a pattern of censorship. He argued, “Given the company’s recent history of censorship, including at the behest of the Biden-Harris Administration, YouTube’s censorship of former President Trump is particularly troubling.” Emphasizing the critical need for open political discourse, especially as elections approach, Jordan demanded that a briefing be arranged promptly, setting a deadline of no later than 10:00 am on November 14, 2024.
