NY Times Channels Michelle Obama’s Rant: Sexism Is Killing Kamala’s Great Campaign

New York Times reporter Rebecca Davis O’Brien made Wednesday’s edition with a poor-Kamala Harris “news” story, “Michelle Obama Decries a ‘Double Standard’ in Treatment of Trump and Harris.” It’s an echo of a recent front-page Times story blaming sexism for Harris’s failure to have the 30-point lead over Donald Trump that she’s apparently entitled to. It’s another sweaty attempt by the Times to haul Harris over the finish line on Election Day. For three months, as Vice President Kamala Harris has pressed her case for the White House, some voters have insisted they just don’t know enough about her. Pundits have grumbled that she is light on specifics; journalists have lamented that she wasn’t doing more interviews, or answering tougher questions, or answering easy questions more crisply. Her opponents have cast her as an “empty suit,” a lightweight with dangerous ideas. Michelle Obama was fed up. Stop the presses! O'Brien lapped up the former first lady's fulminations as fact. At a rally on Saturday night in Michigan, the former first lady reflected, with palpable disbelief and outrage, on the double standard she believes Ms. Harris faces. “When you lay out the options, this choice isn’t even close,” Mrs. Obama told the crowd. “But whether it’s online or in the media or in our social circles, there are folks who say they’re not sure about Kamala. They accuse her of not providing enough policy detail. Some wonder: Do we really know her? Is she too aggressive? Is she not aggressive enough? There are folks sowing seeds of doubt about whether she’s who she appears to be. “Voters have every right to ask hard questions of any candidate seeking office,” she continued, “but can someone tell me why we are once again holding Kamala to a higher standard than her opponent?” The question suggested an impatience not just with this campaign, but with the entire political career of Donald J. Trump, and the perception that he has now twice competed against accomplished female politicians who faced scrutiny and doubts that Mr. Trump, time and again, is allowed to escape. Mrs. Obama and other prominent Democrats are now, in the final stretch of the campaign, giving voice to a frustration that has animated many Harris supporters from the get-go. Some frame it explicitly as a matter of race and gender.... O'Brien also allowed 2016 election loser Hillary Clinton to "attribute[d] voter hesitation to sexism" and claim "a double standard" without rebuttal. There was an eventual nod to the Republican argument against the liberal media. Trump supporters, including some commentators who acknowledge his inarticulate free associations, say the real double standard at work is a liberal press that gives Ms. Harris a free pass while seizing on every utterance of Mr. Trump as evidence of a slipping mind, or fascist inclinations, or criminality. Harris supporters really don’t like their candidate being challenged, and O’Brien seemed to sympathize. But when reporters note her weaknesses in interviews, or when voters say they need more information about her policy positions, Ms. Harris’s supporters throw up their hands. To them, Mr. Trump’s very candidacy, after he was impeached for inciting insurrection, seems unfathomable. Sexism is everywhere! Ms. Harris herself may not have the luxury of frustration -- this itself, of course, might be considered a central component of the double standard -- but Mrs. Obama does. She is one of the most beloved members of the Democratic Party. And, with her husband’s political career behind her, she can afford to let loose, even if it means pointedly criticizing the public. On Saturday, she did not outright accuse anybody of racism or sexism, but she made it clear she saw these forces lurking beneath the surface. “We expect her to be intelligent and articulate, to have a clear set of policies, to never show too much anger, to prove time and time again that she belongs,” Mrs. Obama said. “But for Trump, we expect nothing at all. No understanding of policy, no ability to put together a coherent argument, no honesty, no decency, no morals.” Who needs journalistic discernment when you can just transcribe an embittered former first lady ranting about Republican sexism?

'I can assure you we're not garbage': Packers legend Brett Favre strikes back at Biden's insulting remarks to Americans

Super Bowl champion Brett Favre rallied for Donald Trump in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and told attendees that a vote for the Republican candidate was a vote to secure the future of their children and grandchildren."I have never done an event like this before. Do I even have to explain why?" the 55-year-old asked the raucous audience. "I knew I would come back to Green Bay at various times, but I never thought I would come back in this setting," Favre said to applause.During his speech, Favre seemed personally offended when addressing President Joe Biden's comments that Trump supporters are "garbage.""I can assure you, we're not garbage," Favre went on. "How dare he say that? Looking out, I see police officers, teachers, nurses, grandparents, students, I see everyday Americans that make this country great."During his time in Wisconsin, the Mississippi native took time to meet with police officers and military service members, which may shed light on why he took Biden's comments so strongly.'The stakes are incredibly high.'The three-time NFL MVP likened his former team the Green Bay Packers as winners and likewise said, "Donald Trump and his organization was a winner.""The United States of America won with his leadership," he added.Pointing to his children and grandson in the audience, Favre mentioned he felt it was important to bring the young boy to the rally so he could have the experience. The quarterback then put special focus on the economic policies of the Biden-Harris administration and how they might affect future generations."Our young kids ... are the ones who are going to be affected directly," Favre said of the election."The stakes are incredibly high. Families across Wisconsin are struggling to make ends meet. People's salaries haven't kept up with inflation. It's getting harder for younger people to buy their first home. People are losing hope in the American dream," Favre continued. The former football gunslinger hammered home a message about the American dream, saying that while he had already lived it, he wanted to "make sure that future generations get to, as well.""That would be my grandson Parker and his two brothers."Favre has not made many political splashes since retiring from football in 2010, but he did support Tucker Carlson during the host's exit from Fox News in 2023."I'm with Tucker," Favre said at the time. He then called for a boycott of Fox News "until they come to their senses." Fox News and Carlson never reconciled, with Carlson going on to start his own network.Recently, Favre has remarked that he is a fan of the idea of Elon Musk heading up government efficiency programs, and the two have interacted on Musk's platform since the Wisconsin rally.Like Blaze News? Court slaps down Arizona Dem official who fearmongered about 'violent' Trump supporters in voter ID case

A county judge excoriated the Democrat secretary of state of Arizona for arguing that supporters of former President Donald Trump would become violent and endanger Arizonans who did not provide proof of citizenship when registering to vote. The issue stems from a decades-old error in the Arizona system that erroneously denoted that drivers who applied for a license renewal after 2004 had provided proof of U.S. citizenship when applying for their first license sometime before 1997, Blaze News previously reported. As those residents never actually provided documented proof of citizenship, which is required to vote in state and local elections, they should be issued federal-only ballots in 2024, Maricopa County recorder Stephen Richer, a Republican, argued in mid-September.Initially, reports indicated that about 98,000 residents between the ages of 45 and 60 from all across the state of Arizona were affected. A few weeks later, Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes (D) discovered that the number was actually closer to 218,000.'The Defendants further proffered no evidence that EZAZ.org has ever weaponized information to harass or intimidate voters ... singled out voting locations to protest or harass voters, or subjected voters to threats.'At the time, Fontes claimed that the issue was discovered too close to the election and would affect mainly Republican-leaning voters. The state supreme court ultimately agreed and determined in late September that these registrants could vote in federal, state, and local elections in 2024.However, Fontes changed his tune after America First Legal, a legal group with strong ties to Trump, sued on behalf of EZAZ.org, a right-leaning nonprofit, to demand that Fontes release the list of affected residents as a matter of public record. On Monday, Fontes and his attorneys argued before Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Scott Blaney that releasing the list would subject the listed residents to violence and intimidation from EZAZ.org associates and other Trump supporters. The defense even enlisted the help of Prof. Robert Pape — a radical leftist obsessed with "White Rural Rage" and January 6 — as an expert witness. According to Blaney's ruling, issued on Thursday, Pape's testimony was egregiously biased against Trump supporters, focusing "almost entirely on allegations of past and anticipated prospective violence from only one side of the political spectrum, and only related to former president Donald Trump."Because Pape's opinions were so one-sided and were effectively based solely on "national statistics" and on "speculation" about possible "violence and harassment," Blaney said he gave them "only minimal weight."Pape was not the only one to denigrate Trump supporters during the hearing. Fontes also basically testified that he wanted to withhold releasing the voter registration records if doing so "could save just one life," despite a "lack of any evidence that any individual’s life was in danger," Blaney recalled"Secretary Fontes argued that providing the list of 218,000 Affected Voters would necessarily lead to violence – even sure death – of one or more Affected Voters, even if this Court specifically ordered that EZAZ.org could only distribute the list of Affected Voters to county recorders, leadership for the Arizona state legislature, and the Arizona Senate and House Elections Committee," Blaney wrote. "The Secretary’s claims were not credible and not supported by evidence.""The Defendants further proffered no evidence that EZAZ.org has ever weaponized information to harass or intimidate voters, conducted mass voter challenges, singled out voting locations to protest or harass voters, or subjected voters to threats," Blaney added.Between the specious argument that residents on the list of affected registrants were somehow in danger and the fact that Secretary Fontes admitted on the stand that his office has access to these records through the registration database and that "his office routinely responds to and releases copies" of the database to third parties, Judge Blaney sided with plaintiffs EZAZ.org and AFL.Fontes and his office now have until Monday to release to EZAZ.org the original list of the 98,000 affected residents and any identifying information about the other 120,000 registrants on the full list as well as datasets and communications between various government agencies about the issue. Defendants must also cover the plaintiffs' attorneys' fees and costs.Plaintiffs have been ordered not to canvass or contact any of the voters on the list. They also may not release any personally identifiable information about any voter on the list prior to Wednesday, the day after the election. In a press release, AFL called the ruling "critically important to the integrity of the upcoming presidential election.""When Secretary Fontes discovered the glitch that allowed 218,000 individuals to register without providing proof of citizenship, he should have immediately shared the list of affected individuals with Arizona’s county recorders, who are in charge of verifying the citizenship of voters. Instead, he has jealously guarded the list, refusing to share it with anyone," said a statement from James Rogers, America First Legal senior counsel. "It is unfortunate that Secretary Fontes so aggressively opposed our common-sense efforts to help restore trust in our state’s election system. This was a case we never should have needed to file.""A majority of Arizonans no longer trust the election system of our state. One of the reasons is the lack of transparency from our state’s elected officials," Rogers added."This suit was about restoring transparency and ensuring that county recorders can do their jobs by verifying the citizenship of voters."Fontes' office did not respond to Blaze News' request for comment.Like Blaze News? GTA 5 PC players are about to get the exclusive features from console versions

It may seem slow, but GTA 6 is gradually looming larger on the horizon. In the next chapter of Rockstar’s open-world crime saga, we’ll finally be heading back to Vice City, and taking in some of that sweet Leonida sunshine. Until then, however, Los Santos remains our center of illegal operations, and it’s good news for Grand Theft Auto 5 PC players. Rockstar confirms that the upcoming GTA Online update for December will introduce new robberies, Dispatch Work missions, and possibly the return of one of the story mode’s central characters. More importantly, the Red Dead Redemption 2 developer says that GTA 5 features that were previously exclusive to current-gen consoles will finally make the jump to PC in 2025.
