Many musicians who achieved fame in the 70s became even more successful in the 80s, and two of them were Bruce Springsteen and Phil Collins. With albums like The River (1980), Nebraska (1982), and Born in the U.S.A. (1984), the American artist established himself as one of the most important songwriters of all time. The same thing happened with Phil Collins, who not only helped Genesis achieve greater commercial success as their vocalist, but also launched an extremely successful solo career. Around that time, he spoke about many of his peers, including Springsteen, and mentioned one song by the American artist that he thought was fantastic. In an interview with David Sheff in 1986, Collins praised the title-track of the album. "I've always liked the idea of Springsteen. (It is) everyman's music for everyman, you know. It captures the imagination of the working man. Chuck Berry did the same thing. I don't know that much about Springsteen's older songs, but I like what he stands for. 'Born in the U.S.A.' is just fantastic. It has a great atmosphere and it's a great song." Collins said the same when talking with Rolling Stone back in 1985, he said: “To me, everything Bruce Springsteen does is very typical of him. Maybe people think the same thing about me. But I think I have too many styles to single one out.” Still in that conversation with David Sheff he used Springsteen as an example when talking about a music critic who didn't like his music. He was asked about how he reacted to bad reviews. His answer was: "If you don't want to believe the bad ones, then you can't believe the good ones, but I don't have to accept the critics who obviously just don't like me." Collins did his final shows as a solo artist and also with Genesis during the past years. Unlike Springsteen, Collins still wasn't inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo act. In an interview with NBC News, Vice President Kamala Harris said that she does not favor religious exemptions for health care workers that would allow them to refuse to participate in performing abortions. The exchange with NBC News’ Hallie Jackson went like this: JACKSON: Some of those voters that I spoke with at some of the events yesterday, for example, talked about they were there to support you, but also your agenda when it comes to reproductive rights and abortion access, and you have cast this as a matter of literal life and death as an urgent priority here. If you win, it is entirely possible that Congress will be controlled by Republicans. So what specific concessions would you be willing to make in order to get something done on abortion access as soon as possible?  HARRIS: Well, first of all, look at what has happened since the Dobbs decision came down, a decision that is a direct result of the fact that Donald Trump hand selected three members of the United States Supreme Court with the intention they would undo the protections of Roe. They did as he intended. And now in 20 states, we have Trump abortion bans, which some make no exceptions for rape or incest.  Which criminalizes health care providers, in a state like Texas, prison for life for doctors and nurses if they provide reproductive care. And where we have seen this issue on the ballot, to your point about elections, from red states to blue states, when freedom is on the ballot, the American people vote for freedom regardless of the party they are registered to vote with. We have seen that. And I know that there are members of the United States Congress who are well aware that their constituents are in favor of the very fundamental principle that a woman should be able to make decisions about her own body, and not have her government tell her what to do. JACKSON: So is a question of pragmatism then: what concessions would be on the table? Religious exemptions, for example, is that something that you would consider with a Republican controlled Congress? [xtalk] HARRIS: I don’t think we should be making concessions when we’re talking about a fundamental freedom to make decisions about your own body.  No “concessions” for health care workers whose religious beliefs include that abortion is a grave sin, the taking of an innocent human life, the killing of a baby. Presumably, there would be no exemptions for irreligious health care workers who share that belief based on science and their consciences.  In the space of a few decades, the Democratic Party’s position on abortion has gone from viewing it as a tragedy that nevertheless should be “safe, legal, and rare,” to an absolute “right” and positive good that persons religiously and morally opposed to abortion should be forced to perform. That is the logic of Harris’ position. It strikes at the heart and soul of Catholic tradition and the beliefs of many non-Catholic Christians, many Jews, and many followers of Islam. It also dangerously interferes with the First Amendment’s guarantee of the free exercise of religion. But all of that is sacrificed at the altar of abortion.  A few days ago, Vice President Harris became the first major presidential candidate since Walter Mondale in 1984 to skip a personal appearance at the Al Smith dinner in New York. The dinner, which is held in the memory of the first Catholic to run for president on a major party ticket (ironically, the Democratic Party in 1928), is described as “the Catholic Met Gala.” Fox News described Harris’ move as the latest “snub” in a “career full of swipes at the faithful.” Catholic League President William Donahue remarked that Harris’ snub sent “an unmistakable message to Catholics.” New York Archbishop Cardinal Timothy Dolan called Harris’ snub a “shame.” At a campaign rally in Wisconsin, Harris responded to student protesters who chanted “Jesus is Lord, Christ is King” by telling them they were at the “wrong rally.” And as a U.S. senator in 2018, Harris implied that three judicial nominees who were members of the Knights of Columbus (which opposes abortion) were unfit to be federal judges. Harris’ remarks to NBC News should be viewed in the context of the belief on the political Left that so-called “White Christian Nationalists” are a threat to the republic. The left-wing Center for American Progress called Christian Nationalism the “single biggest threat to America’s religious freedom.” The leftist Fulcrum headlined that “Christian nationalism is a grave threat to America.” Democratic strategist James Carville said that Christian nationalism is a greater threat than al Qaeda. The leftist Southern Poverty Law Center claimed that Christian nationalism “has driven anti-democracy extremism in recent years.”  Harris’ refusal to make “concessions” for health care workers who are also religious opponents of abortion is simply the latest evidence that abortion has become holy writ for the political Left. That became clear after the Dobbs decision when Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey Jr. broke with his previous position (and his father’s legacy as governor of Pennsylvania and a national Democratic Party pro-life leader) to support the unrestricted abortion scheme of Roe v. A physician is withholding the publication of a study on the impact of puberty blockers on the mental health of young people in order to protect the Left’s narrative. The New York Times reported that the doctor does not want to make the results public “because of the charged American political environment.”  Dr. Johanna Olson-Kennedy began the experiment in 2015 and recruited 95 children to receive puberty blockers. According to Kennedy, the results from her study did not match the findings of an earlier Dutch study, which found that puberty blockers improved mental health. (That Dutch study has since fallen into controversy.) Olson-Kennedy told the Times that this was likely because, in her study, “the children were already doing well when the study began.” However, the Times noted that her statement contradicted her previous assertion that the adolescents were “depressed or suicidal” before treatment.  Her initial description of the children reported that their average age was 11, and that a quarter of the group had reported having symptoms of depression and anxiety. Another quarter reported having had thoughts of suicide, and 8 percent reported having attempted suicide.  The study was part of a larger multimillion-dollar federal project by the National Institute of Health. Olson-Kennedy told the Times that she did not publish the data because the findings might “fuel the kind of political attacks that have led to bans of the youth gender treatments in more than 20 states.” Olson-Kennedy is the medical director of the largest transgender youth clinic in the United States. She specializes in helping children struggling with gender dysphoria, and is considered a “national expert in this area.”  Research on the impact of puberty blockers can be traced back to 2011, when a Dutch study of 70 children on puberty blockers found slight improvements in their mental health. While this study was used as a catalyst to promote puberty blockers for transitioning youth, a later analysis in 2023 found this study to be “critically flawed.” The analysis found that the study only reported the “best-case scenario outcomes” and failed to examine the risks of puberty blockers.   The Supreme Court is expected to hear arguments in December for United States v. Skrmetti, in which the Biden administration is challenging a 2023 Tennessee law banning puberty blockers, hormones, and surgeries used for the purpose of attempting to transition a child to the opposite sex. In a psyop, the payload is a generally a narrative; in the case of this psyop, the narrative is that Trump is a fascist, a Hitler-sympathizer, and an outright Nazi. If your initial reaction here is to laugh at how trite and cliched this is, you’re not wrong; you would think, after eight years of trying to will this fake narrative into existence ex nihilo (“don’t you folks get that he’s literally Hitler?!”), the Democrats and their media allies would eventually have moved on. But there are two reasons why they’ve exhumed this beaten and dead horse, and why they’ve done so just 14 days before the election: Reason 1: They’re desperate. Kamala is behind in nearly every national poll, and, in particular, she has forfeited a meaningful level of support among Latinos, black men, and Arab-Americans. With white Americans breaking for Trump more heavily than ever before, the Harris campaign can’t afford even the slightest of shifts in voting patterns among swing-state minority demographics. Reason 2: Unfortunately, the fictitious Nazi claim, on the margins, is effective. Most Americans, burned out on nearly a decade of continuous media hoaxes (from “fine people on both sides” to injecting bleach to the origins of Covid to Hunter Biden’s laptop), will see through it and immediately disregard it. Remember, though, that just a handful of swing states will decide this election; even more specifically, members of the aforementioned minority groups will likely be the fulcrum within those states. If, by calling Trump a fascist, the Harris campaign and the media can motivate even a small number of these people to get off the fence and support Harris, and if they can also demoralize a small number of would-be Trump voters in the same states to stay home on Election Day, it could make all the difference. STEP TWO: THE LAUNCH VEHICLE A weapon is no good if it can’t be delivered to its intended target. In the case of this operation, the first stage of the launch vehicle was The New York Times and The Atlantic, which published their stories within hours of each other. Ask yourself, what are the odds that two prominent news outlets, both of which are highly friendly to the Democratic establishment but which are (notionally) independent from one another, would publish two separate articles with the same narrative, within hours of each other on a date exactly two weeks before the election? Exactly. STEP THREE: CHAIN REACTION The New York Times and The Atlantic offer credibility for the narrative’s nucleus, but what they can’t offer is widespread distribution. Americans get their news from a range of sources that is wider than ever, and—as much as it might offend those who took out $200k in student loans to attend Columbia J-school—most of them don’t turn to the so-called paper of record or to a once-great literary magazine intellectually bankrupted by the widow of the guy who invented the iPhone. Fortunately for the orchestrators of our psyop, though, if there’s one thing the media hates even more than Donald Trump, it’s missing out on all the clicks and impressions from a hot story. Within hours of the two original articles going live (within minutes, in some cases), virtually every other mainstream publication released a derivative article that summarized the salacious claims in the source articles. By the end of the day yesterday, there were hundreds of such releases, from CNN, NBC/MSNBC/CNBC, ABC, CBS, Newsweek, Axial, Business Insider, the Huffington Post, NPR, and just about any other publication one could name. These derivative articles don’t merely disseminate the narrative’s DNA further; they also serve to reinforce it and provide it (false) legitimacy, creating the unjustified impression that dozens of outlets have looked into this, rather than just two. When Americans open up Facebook and see countless articles from countless different sources all saying the same thing, they become far more susceptible to the narrative, even if they might otherwise be skeptical. The sheer volume of logos and headlines overwhelms the mind’s natural hesitation to question propaganda. It’s devious, but it works. And the people who engineer missions like this know it. STEP FOUR: ITERATE AND PERPETUATE Earlier today, Kamala Harris read a statement decrying Trump’s supposed fascism; as I type these words, she’s regurgitating these claims in her televised townhall. Biden also provided a statement about the articles today. In doing this, they essentially rebooted the news cycle for the narrative, providing it fresh life and keeping it front and center in the media. If you’re getting a sense that the media focus comes in waves, it’s because it does (and, like everything else here, it’s deliberate and methodical). In the first 24 hours, the focus is on the original claims in the two source articles. In the subsequent 48 hours, once the original story starts to go stale, the media focus pivots to the reaction from prominent opponents of Trump, thereby creating another news cycle to reinforce the narrative. Thereafter, the media will launch yet another wave of news, this one focused on interviewing historians (all of whom will, conveniently, summarize the numerous and convenient parallels between Trump and the fascists of old), swing-state voters (all of whom, conveniently, will claim that Trump’s newly unveiled love of Hitler convinced them to get off the fence and support Kamala), and even so-called Trump supporters that have now decided not to vote for him. The goal is to keep the narrative in front of the audience for as long as possible, giving it time and space to metastasize further and continue corroding support for Trump. STEP FIVE: LAUNCH ANOTHER PAYLOAD We have 13 days until the election. If you think this is the last payload the Harris campaign and the media will launch into the discourse, you have far more faith in their decency than I do. Expect at least two more of these over the next two weeks, one of which—if I can hazard a guess—will center on fictitious claims of sexual misconduct and the second of which will focus on Trump’s business history.
