Iron Maiden and Rock stars’ Reactions to the Death of Paul Di’Anno

Paul Di'Anno was Iron Maiden's vocalist from 1978 to 1981 and was part of their two first albums: "Iron Maiden" (1980) and "Killers" (1981). Although the band became even bigger when he was replaced by Bruce Dickinson on vocals, there are still millions of fans who really loved those two first albums, so besides being part of other less successful bands over the decades, he toured a lot playing the material from those two records. A fundamental part of the band's early success, Di'Anno also had many famous fans and friends, who paid tribute to him. The singer passed away last October 21 at the age of 66. Iron Maiden and Rock stars' Reactions to the Death of Paul Di'Anno Iron Maiden/Steve Harris "We are all deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Paul Di’Anno earlier today. Paul’s contribution to Iron Maiden was immense and helped set us on the path we have been travelling as a band for almost five decades. His pioneering presence as a frontman and vocalist, both on stage and on our first two albums, will be very fondly remembered not just by us, but by fans around the world." “It’s just so sad he’s gone. I was in touch with him only recently as we texted each other about West Ham and their ups and downs. At least he was still gigging until recently, it was something that kept him going, to be out there whenever he could. He will be missed by us all. Rest in peace mate ⚒⚒'.” "We were very grateful to have had the chance to catch up a couple of years ago and to spend time with him once more. On behalf of the band, Rod and Andy, and the whole Iron Maiden team, we extend our deepest sympathies to Paul’s family and close friends. Rest In Peace Paul." He certainly put his stamp on the first two albums. Condolences to his family." Paul & I did quite a few tours & concerts together over the years... Sweden Rock, Ukraine, Australia, Scandinavia. He had a great sense of humour & those were crazy times. His voice & his music with Iron Maiden & his own projects will live on. Fondly remembered, sadly missed. RIP." He, along with the rest of Iron Maiden, revived British metal in late 70's, early 80's. RIP. #UpTheIrons @IronMaiden" [embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/DBZVexipNz3/[/embed]  K.K. His work on iconic albums like Iron Maiden and Killers will always be remembered as vital to the band’s legacy." "Our thoughts go out to his family, friends, and all who were influenced by his powerful voice and larger-than-life presence. Rest in peace, Paul. The first two Maiden albums (including the live EP "Maiden Japan") were major influences on kids like me as we were in our formative years as musicians. I only met Paul once back in January, 2010 as me & the guys in @hailtheworld_official were heading up to see Eddie Trunk at SiriusXM in NYC as Paul was coming out from his interview just before us. Condolences to his family, friends & fans everywhere...." Those first two Iron Maiden albums changed my life. All time greats. Changed heavy metal. Had the pleasure of playing a show in Arizona with Battlezone supporting @exodusbandofficial many years back and he took the fan boy abuse from all of us like a pure gentleman. This suck, far too young [embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/DBZC9INvnkc/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading[/embed] Exodus "A massive RIP from all of us to one of @exodusbandofficial all time hero’s, Paul Di’anno. The first two @ironmaiden albums helped shape who we are as a band and he had as much to do with that as all of them. Pure gentleman when we had the pleasure of sharing a stage with him. Thank you for all you gave so many". [embed]https://www.facebook.com/exodusattack/posts/1122800969208410?ref=embed_post[/embed] Gus G. (Ex-Ozzy Osbourne) "Shocked to hear about Paul Di Anno’s passing. I had the honor to play a few shows w/ Paul in Greece just a couple of years ago. Every time we hung out, we laughed our asses off. I last saw him about a year ago and we talked about making some songs and more shows together down the line. He was in good spirits then. A true rock n roller, with an uncompromising attitude, he loved the music and his fans and didn’t care for the business. I don’t think he knew how important he was in the Heavy Metal universe. RIP my friend, see you on the other side." Ex-Ozzy guitarist Jake E. Lee explains why he got shot

Former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Jake E. Lee was shot last week in Las Vegas while taking a walk with his dog at night. The police reported that he was shot at 15 times. Thankfully, only 3 bullets hit him, missing his vital organs. He was struck in the chest, arm, and foot, and he is expected to fully recover from the attack. He posted on his social media about the attack and revealed that he confronted a few thieves and that's why he got shot. Ex-Ozzy guitarist Jake E. Lee explains why he got shot "Thank you again for all your concern. A quick update: back home recuperating. A big thanks to those at Sunrise Hospital for taking such good care of me. And some brief details about that night. Walking home from our walk Coco and I crossed paths with a couple of thieves." "Dressed darkly, hoodies pulled down their faces and masks covering their mouths. Standing in a neighbor’s driveway checking out his motorcycle. There was a verbal confrontation which ended with an agreement that I would walk one way and they would walk the opposite." "That didn’t work out. I’ll probably talk in more detail about it later but right now I can only comfortably do a little at a time. Let me look for another cute pic of Coco!" Jake E. Lee said. [embed]https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1078283147021734&set=a.284750236375033&type=3&ref=embed_post[/embed] Lee was facing many health issues during the past years that prevented him from playing live. The 67 year-old guitarist was born in Norfolk, Virginia and started his musical career in 1980. He first achieved fame after he became a member of Ozzy Osbourne’s band in 1982, not long after the tragic death of the guitarist Randy Rhoads. With the former Black Sabbath vocalist, he recorded two praised studio albums: “Bark at The Moon” (1983) and “Ultimate Sin” (1986). After that he recorded with groups like Badlands, Wicked Alliance, Mickey Ratt, Enuff Z’Nuff and Red Dragon Cartel. The post Ex-Ozzy guitarist Jake E. Hear the final Alex and Eddie Van Halen instrumental song

The legendary Van Halen co-founder and drummer, Alex Van Halen, is currently promoting his new book Brothers, which tells the story of him and his brother Eddie Van Halen, as well as the story of the band. With the audiobook, a final instrumental song made by the two, called "Between Us Two" was released. The beautiful six-minute instrumental track really sets the incredible mood for his book and audiobook, which was narrated by himself. Hear the final Alex and Eddie Van Halen song "Between Us Two" [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSLPrZr8Y-Q&t=1s[/embed] The track is available on Youtube and can be downloaded for free via the Van Halen website. In an interview with Rolling Stone, the first one after his brother’s passing, he revealed they have a lot of unreleased material. Some of it will come out with the book but he said that he has plans for other releases and he even reached out to OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT to see if they could analyze Eddie‘s playing and maybe help to generate new guitar solos. He also revealed that the singer he has in mind to complete the vocals on those recordings is Led Zeppelin‘s Robert Plant. “They’re all little pieces (of unreleased music). A bunch of licks don’t make a song. (I asked OpenAI if they could analyze) the patterns of how Edward would have played something (to generate new guitar solos) .Ideally, it’d be Robert Plant (for the vocals). You’re gonna think I’m out of my fucking mind. But when conditions are right, things will manifest.” However, the drummer said he hasn’t talked with Robert Plant since 1993. Alex is also working on a possible biopic of the band During the past decade many successful biographical movies about bands were released, like the ones from Queen, Elton John and Mötley Crüe. Alex Van Halen revealed in the same conversation he is also working on that said there is no hurry for it, since the Queen movie, for example. “It’s just a long-term plan. I mean, to put things in perspective, the Queen movie took 30 years to make.”The post Hear the final Alex and Eddie Van Halen instrumental song appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.

Led by the band's singer and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Lynne, they were active until 1986, returning from 2000 to 2001 and from 2014 until now. Lynne said in a statement that the band's final show will happen in 2025 at the Hyde Park in London, where his return to touring happened in 2014. Jeff Lynne reveals E.L.O.'s final show will happen in 2025 “My return to touring began at Hyde Park in 2014. It seems like the perfect place to do our final show. The band James Hetfield loves and is one the craziest he’s seen

The band James Hetfield loves and is one the craziest he’s seen

Fronted by the singer, songwriter and guitarist James Hetfield, Metallica certainly became one of the biggest Heavy Metal bands of all time. They are one of the few bands of the genre who are still able to play in huge stadiums all around the world when they tour. Although they were influenced mainly by bands from the 70s and 80s, Hetfield never stopped listening to new music and to support new bands. They are always watching new bands on the road and one of them James Hetfield said was one of the craziest he had ever seen. The band James Hetfield loves and is one the craziest he’s seen James Hetfield declared his love for many new bands during the past decades and one of them is Mars Volta, band formed in El Paso, Texas back in 2001. Back in 2017, Hetfield was interviewed by his bandmate Lars Ulrich, on the drummers show "It's Electric" and they both talked about Mars Volta. James praised the band a lot and recalled the 2004 run on the ‘Big Day Out Festival‘ in Australia with them. "That guy, Jon Theodore (drummer), unbelievable. Whenever I am watching him live, you were there. We saw him at a little joint somewhere in Australia. It was one of the craziest gigs I had seen. The energy those guys had and they were all wearing fancy boots too." "That was the combination to my mind 'they're going crazy and they look good too' (laughs). They're like all super muso kind of guys. Really, really into their instruments. As you heard, a little jazzy, this is probably one of the songs that I requested them every night and they would never play it. Because I don't know, it was too mainstream for them, compared to some of their other wacky stuff." He continued: [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tY0p6PF-J8E[/embed] "It's like: 'This is pretty heavy, it's also wacky. It makes me feel good, this song, so play it guys'. They would say 'No, we can't, sorry. He doesn't wanna play it, you know'. They're on a different wavelength at that point. That band, what I love about them, they pushed the limits on pretty much everything." "Guitar playing, the vocals. I remember Cedric having pedals on the floor for his vocals. I had never seen that before and he was pushing stuff, doing weird stuff with his voice. He was really treating it as an instrument, which was very cool. The keys, the drummer, all of it. They even had a Bongo player at some point. There's not a lot of Bongos heard on that song," James Hetfield said. Mars Volta once explained why they didn't play the song Hetfield loves As James Hetfield said in the interview with Ulrich, when they were touring together, the band didn't took his request to play a song. The track was "Inertiatic ESP", which was part of their debut album "De-Loused in the Comatorium" released in 2003. The band's vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala explained in an interview with Zane Lowe in 2022 why they decided not to play the song. "We met them in New Zealand. They came to our show and they were like, are you going to play this song? We're like, no, we don't play that anymore. Sorry. And he's there. I'm like, God, we should play it for him at least." "We didn't play it. We were very stubborn about where we were. It was something from the first records. We were like, we're here now. We understand people really love that, but we're very selfish like that. But it was cool to meet them. It was like, wow." According to Cedric, Metallica ended up playing the track during their pre-show rehearsal. Hetfield liked the band so much, that his son Castor, who is a musician, recalled once that his father introduced him to their music. The post The band James Hetfield loves and is one the craziest he’s seen appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.
