Fans come to the rescue of popular Mario content creator

Image: Nintendo Fans of the popular Mario blog, Supper Mario Broth, have come together to remind us that the internet can still be a place where good things happen. Supper Mario Broth is one of the most wholesome Mario blogs on the internet. Since 2017, its owner has posted a regular stream of Mario-flavored tidbits he could dig up including interesting glitches, old advertisements and merchandise, screenshots, gifs, artwork, and more. OnePlus might be ditching curved edges too

The future of phones is flat. | Image: Digital Chat Station on Weibo The next OnePlus flagship looks a little flat — and that’s a good thing. The alleged image of the unreleased OnePlus 13 was posted to Weibo and has been since removed, but not before it was spotted by 9to5Google. It shows the phone with flat sides rather than the curved edges featured by recent OnePlus phones. It’s a small shift, but it would make OnePlus the latest in a long list of phone makers to adopt the (arguably more comfortable) flat edge design. The current trend dates back to 2020 when Apple released the iPhone 12 with flat sides, calling on an older design from the iPhone 4 and 5. Over the past few years, other companies followed suit with flat screens and less curved side rails: Samsung started straightening out the Galaxy S... Continue reading…

Epic judge lets Google keep its Android app store closed to competitors — for now

Illustration by Cath Virginia / The Verge Google just netted a small but key victory in its Epic legal battle. Last week, the company asked Judge James Donato to press pause on his November 1st deadline to drastically alter its Android app store rules. Today he did just that, Epic and Google confirm to The Verge, granting Google a temporary administrative stay. That means Google may not have to change its Play Store practices for years, if at all, while it appeals the verdict. In December, a jury unanimously decided that Google’s Android app store, the Play Store, had become an illegal monopoly, though Google is now appealing that jury verdict as well as the court’s order. Technically, today’s temporary administrative stay only pushes back the clock a bit, long enough for the... Continue reading…

Suzanne Somers’ Gravesite Gets Headstone With ’80s Portrait One Year After Her Death

Suzanne Somers’ family is paying tribute to her a year after she died of breast cancer. The memorial was held at Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City, California, and her family erected a headstone with the name “Hamel-Somers,” referencing her wholesome union with Alan Hamel. On the stone was a photo of Hamel and his late wife from the ‘80s and the words “We Are One.” The touching visit to Somers’ grave site was followed by a less somber family luncheon, which took place at the couple’s Palm Springs home. Suzanne Somers’ family celebrate her Suzanne Somers headstone / YouTube Video Screenshot Somers’ death came just before her 77th birthday; hence, she was surrounded by loved ones and family who showed up for the party. They ended up holding a little party to celebrate her life, as the event was all planned out, complete with lots of cake like Somers wanted. During the memorial get-together, Somers’ grandkids gushed about how concerned she was for their future, and how she would advise them on the career paths to opt for. Hamel recalled her ultimate advice to follow instincts rather than intellect, and she was confident that the gut feeling never lies. Suzanne Somers / Everett Never apart Hamel and Somers remained joined at the hip ever since they met in the late ‘60s on The Anniversary Game. Hamel hosted the game show at the time, while Somers’ worked as a prize model. The 88-year-old admitted that they never stayed apart for more than an hour since their wedding in 1977, and acknowledged their co-dependent behavior. Suzanne Somers and Alan Hamel / Everett Hamel misses his late wife dearly and is learning to enjoy solitude while coping with her absence. He currently keeps Somers’ businesses running, providing customers with cosmetics, supplements, and the Thigh Master for workouts. He added that he sometimes picks up on signs that Somers is watching over him.
