An Interview with Andy Shernoff of The Dictators

The Dictators were “punk” before punk rock was even a thing. Want proof? Dial back to records like 1975’s Go Girl Crazy, and you’ll hear for yourself. But that’s not all. Everyone from The Ramones to Bruce Springsteen has taken influence from The Dictators, leaving them not just icons of punk rock but icons of rock music in general. Even though the band flamed out in 1980 (though they did regroup in the mid-90s for a time), with Andy Shernoff (bass/vox) and Ross “The Boss” Friedman (guitar) at the helm since the band started in ’73, The Dictators changed the The post An Interview with Andy Shernoff of The Dictators appeared first on ClassicRockHistory.com.

Nowhere Is Safe and Evil Is Everywhere in The Strangers: Chapter 2 Trailer

News The Strangers: Chapter 2 Nowhere Is Safe and Evil Is Everywhere in The Strangers: Chapter 2 Trailer The Strangers are still determined to kill Maya, and they’re getting more creative… By Vanessa Armstrong | Published on October 18, 2024 Screenshot: Lionsgate Comment 0 Share New Share Screenshot: Lionsgate Tamara still isn’t here, but death is! We have a trailer for The Strangers: Chapter 2, the second in a proposed trilogy from director Renny Harlin. The first film—The Strangers: Chapter 1—came out this May, and it looks like Madelaine Petsch’s Maya is in for more attempts on her life in the second film. It also looks like events pick up almost immediately after Chapter 1, with the trailer showing Maya in the hospital, presumably recovering from what she went through in the first feature. This makes sense given that Harlin filmed all three movies at the same time. The trailer also teases the return of the three strangers who knocked on her cabin door in Chapter 1: Dollface, Scarecrow, and Pinup Girl, their names coming from the masks they choose to wear. Poor Maya, it seems, has gotten into a car with them after presumably escaping the hospital. Oops! The Strangers remained deeply committed to ending Maya’s life, for reasons we’ll likely never understand, as that’s part of the premise of the franchise. What depths they’ll go to in order to end Maya remain to be seen, but odds are good they’ll get pretty creative in their attempts to murder her before the trilogy ends. The script for The Strangers: Chapter 2 comes from Alan R. Cohen, Alan Freeland, and Amber Loutfi. The film is set to come out sometime in early 2025. No news yet on when the third movie will make its way to theaters. Check out the teaser trailer below.[end-mark] The post Nowhere Is Safe and Evil Is Everywhere in The Strangers: Chapter 2 Trailer appeared first on Reactor.

Texas Attorney General Charges Doctor With Violating Law Against Irreversible Transgender Procedures for Kids

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing a doctor for allegedly providing irreversible transgender medical procedures to 21 minors. A Texas law, which took effect in September 2023, prohibits experimental transgender medical interventions for children, including such as surgeries, puberty blockers, and hormone replacement therapy. The Office of the Attorney General of Texas says it obtained evidence revealing that Dr. May Chi Lau illegally provided sex-change hormones to 21 minors for the purpose of “transitioning” the children. The doctor allegedly used false diagnoses and billing codes to mask these unlawful prescriptions, according to Paxton’s news release. The attorney general’s office did not respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment. Lau is the medical director of the adolescent and young adult clinic at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. She is also an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Paxton’s lawsuit, filed Thursday, marks the first time a state attorney general has sued an individual doctor over transgender procedures for minors, NBC News reported. “Texas passed a law to protect children from these dangerous, unscientific medical interventions that have irreversible and damaging effects,” Paxton said in a statement. “Doctors who continue to provide these harmful ‘gender transition’ drugs and treatments will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.” Children’s Medical Center Dallas is one of 225 hospitals and health care facilities that have provided irreversible transgender procedures to children, according to medical watchdog Do No Harm’s database. Children’s Medical Center Dallas, where Lau practices, had 49 sex change patients and wrote 361 prescriptions for hormones and puberty blockers before the Texas law banning transgender procedures for children passed. An adolescent medicine specialist, Lau is a coauthor of several papers on child gender dysphoria, including “Transition from Pediatric to Adult Care for Transgender Youth: A Qualitative Study of Patient, Parent, and Provider Perspectives”; “Developing a Curriculum on Transgender Health Care for Physician Assistant Students”; and “Gender-Affirming Hormone Therapy in Cystic Fibrosis: A Case of New Pseudomonas Infection.” Lau’s profile on the Children’s Medical Center Dallas website said she “particularly enjoys” helping patients though “various adolescent issues.” “Adolescents have their parents to guide them during these sometimes-tough years, and as an adolescent medicine physician, Dr. Lau endeavors to assist parents in this process as adolescents and parents face the most difficult issues,” her biography says. Children’s Medical Center Dallas did not respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment. The View Attacks Catholic Charities for Inviting Trump to Fundraiser Dinner

ABC’s The View is so anti-Trump that they will denounce even legitimate charities that help many people if they dare to invite him to an event; even a charity event that traditionally invites both major party presidential candidates. The liberal ladies kicked off their Friday episode by attacking Catholic Charities for keeping with tradition and inviting former President Trump (and Vice President Harris) to their Al Smith Dinner. Friday moderator Joy Behar repeatedly lashed out at Cardinal Dolan for inviting Trump at all despite the fact the event had historically brought together both sides of the political aisle for a good cause: BEHAR: Thank you, Cardinal Dolan, for this wonderful moment. So, is this Catholic Church event normalizing a guy who’s already broken 11 of the 10 commandments? What do you think? (…) BEHAR: Well, the Haitians in particular I think was an egregious sin because those are Catholics. HOSTIN: Yes. BEHAR: Cardinal Dolan should know that. Purported devout Catholic Sunny Hostin showed, once again, that the Democrats were the party of conserving institutional norms and civility by proclaiming “there's a time to break tradition” because Trump. She further bloviated: I think so. I hate to break with tradition because this is a tradition, and it's a tradition to have both presidential candidates come to this particular dinner. But sometimes there's a time to break tradition. You can't have a felon, a liar, a serial cheater – you know, he had Melania next to him. His third wife, who he cheated with Stormy Daniels while she was pregnant. I just – I think he stands against everything and flies in the face of everything that a Catholic believes and holds dear. He is not a faithful man. Fake Republican Ana Navarro noted “this dinner raised funds for Catholic Charities and some of the work the church does with the most needy,” and “I actually worked with Catholic Charities when I was in high school.” But that didn’t stop her from attacking the charity organization for trying to maximize the event for their mission: “They help immigrants. So, to have Donald Trump sitting there and we are pretending that he is some sort of, like, upstanding citizen, I find it rather offensive.” “I am glad Kamala Harris wasn't there,” she added. Faux conservative Alyssa Farah Griffin insisted that helping Catholic Charites was a waste of Harris’s time and that it was better for her to stay on the campaign trail in Wisconsin: For the last few days, the Trump campaign has been out there, like, ‘Kamala Harris is skipping this Catholic event.’ Well, she was in the swing state of Wisconsin. And I would argue that's a bitter use of her time than showing up to a Catholic event using a racist slur about President Obama, swearing throughout it, making crass jokes and insulting people. On a side note, Navarro flipped out over Trump mispronouncing “Kamala” “11 freaking times” during the dinner. But she had her own pronunciation problems when she declared: “It doesn’t matter because he's going to have to say ‘madam precedent!’” The transcript is below. I actually worked with Catholic Charities when I was in high school. Sister Georgie Blaser sent me there, it was run by Sister Barbara Dowson in San Francisco. They help immigrants. So, to have Donald Trump sitting there and we are pretending that he is some sort of, like, upstanding citizen, I find it rather offensive. I am glad Kamala Harris wasn't there. Oh, by the way, Donald Trump mispronounced her name 11 freaking times. BEHAR: He does it on purpose. HOSTIN: He does that intentionally. NCAA exec seems to plead ignorance about trans athletes on women's teams, says she doesn't know much of 'the science' yet

NCAA Mountain West Conference commissioner Gloria Nevarez said she isn't familiar with the language or the science surrounding issues and problems with a transgender athlete playing on a women's team in her conference.San Jose State University has garnered international attention because the school's women's volleyball team features a 6'1" male athlete named Blaire Fleming, born Brayden.'We have an election year. It's political, so yeah, it feels like a no-win ...'Four teams have issued forfeitures since the controversy began: Boise State, Southern Utah, Utah State, and Wyoming. The ladies at Nevada have also declared they do not wish to play Fleming, but school administrators decided the game would go on.Nevarez said in a recent press conference that the situation breaks her heart because "they're human beings, young people, student athletes on both sides of this issue that are getting a lot of national negative attention.""It just doesn't feel right to me," she continued, according to the Associated Press. The MWC commissioner then explained she isn't very educated on the topic — presumably men playing in women's sports — and said she isn't sure about the "language" or the "science" surrounding the issue."I'm learning a lot about the issue. ... I don't know a lot of the language yet or the science or the understanding nationally of how this issue plays out," Nevarez said. "The external influences are so far on either side. We have an election year. It's political, so yeah, it feels like a no-win based on all the external pressure."Nevarez did not appear to directly address the root of the problem and avoided referring to the player, Fleming, as a male or female: "The student athlete [in question] meets the eligibility standard, so if a team does not play them, it's a forfeit, meaning they take a loss."SJSU coach Todd Kress has displayed a similar attitude, addressing the fact that his players are receiving hate messages without explaining why: "I know that it's definitely taken a toll on many of them. They're receiving messages of hate, which is completely ridiculous to me."Kress added that "when we had our first forfeit, there was a lot of heartbreak. And now, we've kind of, not come to expect it, but we know the certain programs that may forfeit. It still does hurt our student athletes when we don't play a match, but I think they've come to accept it a little more, and I think that's a very unfortunate thing to say."What Kress seems not to address is that allegedly most of his female volleyball players are against having a male on their team — and are receiving hate for speaking out against his presence. One SJSU player, Brooke Slusser, spoke to Blaze News and said everyone involved knows exactly the reason why opposing teams have forfeited games. She added that the school has largely ignored the feelings of the female athletes and has instead focused on the male athlete and whether he's comfortable playing among the women."What I'm going through ... is something, to my bones, I don't agree with. It's not right," Slusser said. Nevada's captain, Sia Liilii, has echoed the same sentiments. She told Blaze News that her school hasn't supported the team and spoke about administrators ignoring her team's vote to forfeit: "Unfortunately our university decided not to back us, and they decided they're going to have the match as scheduled."Liilii added that "the vast majority of us decided that this isn't right, [and] we need to protect women's sports, and we're going to forfeit."It appears as though many coaches and administrators continue to ignore the elephant in the room and have shown no signs of going against state or NCAA rules.A group of women including attorneys and former athletes recently met with the United Nations to plead for international governing bodies to disqualify men from playing in women's sports. One of the representatives declared that women's achievements that have been affected by male participation in sports can "no longer be ignored."Like Blaze News? Kamala offered WHAT to black men for votes?!

Kamala Harris’ campaign has created an “Opportunity Agenda for Black Men,” and it’s even more ridiculous than it sounds. The list included supporting education training and mentorship programs that lead to good-paying jobs for black men, including pathways to become teachers, protecting cryptocurrency investments so black men who make them know their money is safe, and launching a national health initiative focused on the illnesses that disproportionately impact black men. Also on her list of wild ideas is providing 1 million loans that are fully forgivable up to $20,000 for black entrepreneurs and others to start a business — and legalizing recreational marijuana. Glenn Beck of “The Glenn Beck Program” is focused on the most ridiculous part of the list. “If I even said that as a joke, I’d be off the air. ‘You want to buy their vote, you want to buy black men’s vote, give them free weed,’” Glenn tells Stu Burguiere, asking, “Isn't it kind of racist to say that black people like drugs?” “It sounds like a David Duke campaign proposal,” Stu jokes. “Now white women, you get Ugg boots and Starbucks gift certificates. Venezuelans, we already gave them free apartment buildings in Colorado,” Glenn says. “Well, they worked for those,” Stu adds. Want more from Glenn Beck?To enjoy more of Glenn’s masterful storytelling, thought-provoking analysis, and uncanny ability to make sense of the chaos, subscribe to BlazeTV — the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America, defend the Constitution, and live the American dream.
