Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 download rate peaks at 180Mbps during flight

With the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 alpha already available for players to try, gamers are understandably jumping at the chance to soar through the skies of the stunning-looking title. However, despite an initial install size of a mere 30GB, the game is proving to put an unexpectedly high strain on users' internet connections thanks to its constant downloading of new environment data. Even with the best gaming router around, the sheer amount of data you could be downloading via Microsoft Flight Simulator is enough to both put a strain on your home network and quickly max out your data allowance for those not on an unlimited data plan. Not to mention, you'll need a fast enough connection in the first place. 180Mbps is equivalent to 22.5MB/s, which is well inside most modern broadband connection speeds but could be a limiting factor for those with older and slower connections. New realistic FPS Delta Force has already overtaken Battlefield and Helldivers 2

Until 12 months ago, Delta Force felt like one of those partially forgotten PC FPS series, ranked alongside the likes of Soldier of Fortune, SWAT, and the truly brilliant No One Lives Forever. But now it’s back - and back big. Combining online warfare with a campaign mode based on the Black Hawk Down game from 2003, Delta Force seems like a seriously credible rival to the likes of Call of Duty, Rainbow Six Siege, Battlefield, and Escape From Tarkov. Between Gray Zone Warfare and Arena Breakout Infinite, a range of tactical, realistic shooters have arrived this year, but Delta Force seems like it has staying power. Based on its first public playtest, live now, it’s certainly winning plaudits among players on Steam. A first look at Microsoft’s discless Xbox Series X in white

Photo by Tom Warren / The Verge Microsoft has started selling a discless version of its Xbox Series X console today, in the same white paint job as the smaller Xbox Series S. The only change over the carbon black exterior of the original Xbox Series X is that this new white model doesn’t include a disc drive. There’s no option to add a disc drive to this white model either, so you’ll have to be confident you’re happy playing digital games or titles from Xbox Game Pass before purchasing this $449.99 variant. Microsoft hasn’t changed the rear ports either, so there’s two USB-A ports, a HDMI 2.1 port to connect to your TV or monitor, an Ethernet port, and the storage expansion slot at the rear of the console. At the front there’s a single USB-A port, alongside the pair... Continue reading…

DJI’s Air 3S drone is a low light all-rounder

The DJI Air 3S. | Image: DJI The Air 3S is DJI’s new mid-range drone that builds upon the Air 3 in a few notable ways. These include better image quality, especially in low light, with nighttime obstacle avoidance to help ensure the drone returns home safely. That’s promising since the versatile (if boring) Air 3 already had great low-light performance when we reviewed it last year. “The DJI Air 3S takes our Air Series to new heights by offering professional features like dual primary cameras and omnidirectional obstacle sensing while retaining its light weight of just 724g for boundless freedom and flexibility,” said DJI Product Experience Director Ferdinand Wolf in a press release. “The Air 3S is the perfect all-rounder for travel photography — capturing all your... Phew! No 'doomsday' asteroids hide in famous broken comet's debris stream

The Taurid Meteoroid Stream, which is possibly responsible for the famous Tunguska and Chelyabinsk impacts, probably doesn't hide a civilization-killing asteroid.
