Alice Cooper explains why Hard Rock music still works

It's not easy to point exactly where Hard Rock music started but it certainly evolved in late 60s with bands like Led Zeppelin, which transformed the music forever with the heavy riffs and fast rhythm. Alice Cooper was also one of the fundamental parts of American Hard Rock music and even when the band was over, and Alice continued as a solo artist with the same name, he still continued to be one of the most influential artists of that genre. So he knows exactly the power of Hard Rock music and in an interview with Metal XS (Transcribed by Blabbermouth), the musician explained why this kind of music still works. Alice Cooper explains why Hard Rock music still works "I just can't get away from the sort of the classic rock from the '70s only because it just still works. It's a sort of a classic configuration of music where we're all sort of based in early Beatles, Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, and then you take it off in your own direction. Almost every good hard rock band goes all the way back to Chuck Berry, 'cause that was the basis of that 4/4 beat, with the backbeat. And then you find your way to make it Alice Cooper, the way that Guns N' Roses found a way to make it Guns N' Roses, and Aerosmith found a way to make it [their own]. It's all in how you perform it and really your personality coming out in it." "Somebody once said, talking about music is like dancing about architecture. It's almost impossible to talk about it. You have to hear it and then either you like it or you don't like it. But it's basic hard rock, and it's the one music that has gone for 50 years without losing its edge. Grunge, punk, hip-hop, disco, they've all had their moments, but hard rock has been the middle. It's always been there, and it always will be. Led Zeppelin will always be Led Zeppelin . And you play Led Zeppelin for a 16-year-old kid and they go, 'Oh, yeah.' There's something about that kind of music that will not die," Alice Cooper said. Alice Cooper started his career in 1964, six decades ago and counting the albums released as a band and as a solo act he released 29 studio albums. He sold an estimated amount of more than 50 million records worldwide. Dave Mustaine explains why Diamond Head is so important to him

Diamond Head was formed in Stourbridge, England back in 1976 and became one of the most influential bands of the New Wave of The British Heavy Metal. Although they were not very successful commercially the band is known especially for the song "Am I Evil", which was later on covered by Metallica, band which Dave Mustaine originally was part of. He was fired in the early 80s and started Megadeth, which also was really influenced by groups like Diamond Head. In an interview with AXS TV (Transcribed by Blabbermouth), the musician explained why the British band is so important to him. Dave Mustaine explains why Diamond Head is so important to him "One of the first records I picked… Any self-respecting metal fan that knows anything about Dave Mustaine or Megadeth or Metallica for that matter knows how important Diamond Head was. They were called the natural successors to Led Zeppelin in (the) NME. I mean, that, to me, is quite a compliment. I loved the music because it was riffs and it's not chords. American songwriters were doing a lot of chord writing and the European and predominantly the people in the United Kingdom were coming up with that riff. And a riff is simply something that is a melody that is played over and over and over and over again. So it has to be really good or it becomes this monotonous droning." "Diamond Head was one of the first bands that I saw that played music that I understood that I wanted to play. And when I was in Metallica was when we were basically discovering Diamond Head the most. Lars had spent a lot of time with the guys in Diamond Head. This was such an influential band to me and to the guys in Metallica that there's seven songs on the back of this record. On side A, it's 'Lightning To The Nations', 'The Prince' and 'Sucking My Love'. We played 'The Prince', we played 'Sucking My Love'. And on side B it's 'Am I Evil?', 'Sweet And Innocent', 'It's Electric' and 'Helpless'. And we played 'Am I Evil?', we played 'It's Electric' and we played 'Helpless'." He continued: [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0l83SN64qq0&pp=ygURZGlhbW9uZCBhbSBpIGV2aWw%3D[/embed] "There's five songs off of this record that we were playing in Metallica. A lot of people thought those were original songs. Because we weren't rightly going out there and explaining to everybody, 'Hey, these songs are great. You're probably gonna think they're ours and we're not gonna tell you that. We're gonna give credit to where credit's due.' Nah, nah. We're gonna be quiet and make you think we're really great. "So that's kind of how Diamond Head came on my radar and why I like these guys. And the singer for Diamond Head that made up all of these great songs in the beginning was a guy named Sean Harris. And Sean and Brian (Tatler) don't get along anymore. For some reason, I think Sean thought his mom was gonna be a good manager. And she had helped run the band, and that was it," Dave Mustaine said. Diamond Head is still active but the only original and classic member of the band is the guitarist Brian Tatler. However, he is now also a member of Saxon and is currently touring and recording more with the.The post Dave Mustaine explains why Diamond Head is so important to him appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.

How David Bowie ended up with different-colored eyes

How David Bowie ended up with different-colored eyes

Since the beginning of his incredible career, David Bowie intrigued many fans not only with his remarkable songwriting and performances but also with the personas he created, such as Ziggy Stardust and the Thin White Duke. However, something that truly added to his mysterious appearance was his eyes, as one appeared blue while the other seemed green. Although many fans might think he was born this way, the transformation occurred when he was a teenager and got into a fight with a friend. How David Bowie ended up with different-colored eyes Bowie met his friend George Underwood when they were only 9 years old, and they remained close from then on. However, when they were teenagers, at the age of 14, both were attracted to a girl named Carol. She agreed to meet Underwood after a party one night, but Bowie told him that she no longer wanted to go out with him. Later, someone informed Underwood that Carol was still waiting for him as they had previously arranged. Furious, Underwood punched Bowie in the face, which ultimately paralyzed Bowie's iris, giving the impression that one of his eyes was a different color. In photographs, it also magnified the red-eye effect from flash photography. Underwood recalled that story in an interview with BBC, saying: "I decided to go down the youth club anyway a little bit later on because I'd never been there before and her mate came out shouting: ‘Where have you been? Carol’s been waiting for you for over an hour.’ I thought: 'Uh-oh. David’s told me a porky pie here." He recalled that in the following day another friend convinced him saying he should "stick one on him", he went over and just "just whacked him in the eye". "It was just horrible. I didn't like it at the time. But of course later on, lo and behold, he says I did him a favor. Because it's given him this enigmatic, otherworldly look," George Underwood said. They became friends again shortly after and even played in the same band called The Konrads and they would still later on form King Bees. But ultimately, Bowie achieved success as a solo artist and they remained good friends. He even invited Underwood to go on tour with him as a friend in 1972 and many other times. Underwood made some of the most famous album covers in Rock history [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5Z5EVOryKc&pp=ygUWZ2VvcmdlIHVuZGVyd29vZCBib3dpZQ%3D%3D[/embed] As a musician, Underwood only released one album under the name of Calvin Jones and decided that the music business wasn't meant for him. He would later become an illustrator working in books and then in album covers, including some of Bowie's records. Some famous album covers made by George Underwood T. The Rainbow album that Bruce Dickinson chose as his favorite one

Born in Worksop, England back in 1958, Bruce Dickinson started his musical career in 1976, achieving a small level of fame as a member of Samson and then, obviously, becoming a worldwide Rock star as Iron Maiden's vocalist. He was influenced by many bands that appeared in the late 60s and 70s, especially Deep Purple, which had his idol Ian Gillan and also the guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. But that was not the only band with Blackmore that Dickinson loved. He is also a big fan of Rainbow and even revealed which is his favorite album released by the group. The Rainbow album that Bruce Dickinson chose as his favorite one Rainbow was formed by Ritchie Blackmore in 1975 after he decided to leave Deep Purple and he recruited the American singer Ronnie James Dio to be the vocalist. Dickinson was also a big fan of Dio and in an interview with Consequence in 2022 he praised the album "Rising", even revealing it was one of his main inspirations when recording "Number of The Beast" with Iron Maiden. “I think the last album – well for me anyway – the last album that really was a big influence on me, before ‘Number the Beast’ was born is probably ‘Rainbow Rising’.” He continued: “You know, when you got to hear Ronnie in full, full throat. Blackmore playing his pants off, and ‘Stargazer’, and you’re going, ‘Oh, my God. Nobody’s done this in metal before! Wow, this is just incredible! Here’s somewhere to go,’” Bruce Dickinson said. Released in 1976, "Rising" was Rainbow's second studio album and is the band's most famous one. Besides the leader and guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, at the time the band was formed by Ronnie James Dio (Vocals), Tony Carey (Keyboards), Jimmy Bain (Bass) and Cozy Powell (Drums). It has tracks like “Tarot Woman”, “Stargazer” and “Run With The Wolf”. The story of the first time Dickinson heard Rainbow [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmJIccPWnEk&pp=ygUJc3RhcmdhemVy[/embed] When Bruce Dickinson first heard Rainbow he had no idea that Ritchie Blackmore had another band. As he recalled in an interview with Qobuz in 2024 (Transcribed by Rock and Roll Garage), he first heard the band on the radio. He felt that it sounded like Ritchie Blackmore and then discovered he was right about it. "For me, that was the record where I discovered Ronnie Dio on vocals. I was like: 'Who is that voice?' I was like 16 years old and go 'What the hell?' That's Ritchie Blackmore and I didn't know that Rainbow existed. It was on a little transistor radio in a garage. So I went 'That sounds like Ritchie Blackmore'." "I waited till it finished and the guy said that was Rainbow and 'Stargazer'. (I went) 'Aaah oh my God!' It's one of the shortest albums ever made, you know. It's like 35 minutes long, the whole album, but it's a classic. I'll take that over a 90-minute long boring yawnfest. Six really incredible songs that changed the face of music. It really did, that was a game changer. It gets not enough respect from people outside the metal world," Bruce Dickinson said. The post The Rainbow album that Bruce Dickinson chose as his favorite one appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.

Dr. Dave Janda: Civilization Is On The Line...Panic. They Are Desperate to Silence us 10-8-2024 - Oct 8, 2024 Dr. Dave Janda - Operation Freedom - In this eye-opening segment, Dr. Dave Janda dives deep into the precarious state of Western civilization, drawing a stark line between our domestic policies and the future we face. With a blend of wit and skepticism, he examines how seemingly innocuous decisions—from fiscal policies to social programs—are tipping the scales of societal stability. - As he navigates the complex landscape of political maneuvering, Janda challenges viewers to question whether our leaders are truly acting in the best interest of the people or merely playing a high-stakes game of political chess that risks losing everything. As he highlights the absurdity of our current trajectory, Janda underscores the consequences of ignoring the foundational principles that once held society together. - With a sardonic tone, he reminds us that while politicians bicker and make headlines, the real stakes involve the very fabric of our civilization. Will we wake up before it’s too late, or are we destined to become mere spectators in the unraveling of a system we once took for granted? Buckle up for a thought-provoking exploration that dares to question if we’re steering toward progress or peril. - For additional great content and to join the Operation Freedom Team, please visit: davejanda.com - FAIR USE FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES Mirrored From: https://www.youtube.com/@OperationFreedom
