FACT CHECK: Would Project 2025 ‘Dismantle FEMA?’

A viral post shared on X claims Project 2025 would “dismantle the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).” I kept seeing tweets about how Pr*ject 2*25 would basically dismantle FEMA and other federal aid that helps during disaster relief, so I went and did my own digging to confirm and yes, that is absolutely what conservatives […]

BREAKING... PORT WORKERS REACH DEAL, HEAD BACK TO WORK... AT LEAST UNTIL JAN 15... CNBC: Port strike ends as workers agree to tentative deal on wages and contract extension A major union for U.S. dockworkers and the United States Maritime Alliance agreed on Thursday to a tentative deal on wages and have extended their existing contract through Jan. 15 to provide time to negotiate a new contract. The move ends a strike that had snarled East Coast and Gulf Coast ports since the beginning of the week and threatened U.S. supply of fruits, automobiles, and other goods.

The Best Bear Has Some Indiana Jones Moments in the New Trailer for Paddington in Peru

News Paddington in Peru The Best Bear Has Some Indiana Jones Moments in the New Trailer for Paddington in Peru How many big rolling rocks can one small bear face? By Molly Templeton | Published on October 4, 2024 Screenshot: StudioCanal Comment 0 Share New Share Screenshot: StudioCanal You can never go home again, or so they say, so it only tracks that when Paddington (voiced by Ben Whishaw) and the whole Brown family decide to go visit Paddington’s beloved Aunt Lucy in Peru, things go a bit sideways. I’m not sure how I feel about the wacky Indiana-Jones-style manner in which the sideways happens in this new and slightly more detailed trailer, but given the high bar set by Paddington 2, I’m willing to withhold judgement. With a new trailer comes a new longer synopsis: Get ready for the journey of a lifetime as Paddington in Peru brings the world’s most beloved bear back to his roots, his homeland Peru. Following the adventures of Paddington and Paddington 2, Paddington is still living happily with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens. When he receives a letter from the Reverend Mother, the blithe guitar strumming nun who runs the Home for Retired Bears, informing him that Aunt Lucy misses him dearly, he knows he simply must visit her as soon as possible. With his shiny new British passport in hand, Paddington is joined by the Browns, including the ever-resourceful Mrs. Bird, on an epic journey that none of them will ever forget. Along the way the group meet new friends, including the dashing riverboat captain Hunter and his daughter Gina. They join them on their thrilling escapades through the Amazon rainforest and up to the stunning mountain peaks of Peru. Together they encounter unexpected challenges, and Paddington begins to uncover surprising secrets about his past. Throughout the ups and downs, his unwavering optimism and kindness shine brightly in this brand-new Paddington cinematic adventure that reinforces the importance of family, and the joy of embracing one’s heritage. Whoever put the phrase “blithe guitar strumming nun” in the summary for this movie deserves an award. Said nun is played by Olivia Colman, clearly really embracing this new phase of her career. Antonio Banderas is also a newcomer to the series, playing the aforementioned dashing owner of a handsome boat. Hugh Bonneville, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Madeleine Harris, and Samuel Joslin also return; Emily Mortimer takes over the role of Mrs. Brown from Sally Hawkins, who will be missed. For reasons I can barely begin to comprehend, beloved Paddington 2 director Paul King left the series to tackle Wonka; this third film is directed by Dougal Wilson, in his feature film debut. King, Simon Farnaby, and Mark Burton get credit for the screen story, while Burton, Jon Foster, and James Lamont wrote the screenplay. (Farnaby and Burton worked on Paddington 2; Lamont and Foster created and wrote the TV series The Adventures of Paddington.) All this stems from the children’s book by Michael Bond. Paddington 3 is in theaters January 17th, 2025. Bring your best marmalade.[end-mark] The post The Best Bear Has Some Indiana Jones Moments in the New Trailer for Paddington in Peru appeared first on Reactor.

Netflix Goes Back to the Past in More Ways Than One With the Trailer for Time Cut

News Time Cut Netflix Goes Back to the Past in More Ways Than One With the Trailer for Time Cut Oops, they did it again By Molly Templeton | Published on October 4, 2024 Screenshot: Netflix Comment 0 Share New Share Screenshot: Netflix So there’s this girl, see, and decades earlier, someone in her town was murdered, and somehow, she winds up going back in time to try to stop the murder from ever happening. Does this… sound familiar? It might, because while Time Cut is about sisters and going back to the dreaded early 2000s, last year, Netflix released Totally Killer, in which Kiernan Shipka went back to the dreaded ’80s to stop a murder. Time Cut makes the problem a little more personal: One of the murder victims was the older sister of Lucy Field (Outer Banks’ Madison Bailey). What’s more, Lucy never even met poor murdered Summer (Antonia Gentry, from Ginny & Georgia). So when the opportunity presents itself, she slips back to the early naughties to change Summer’s fate. And, of course, this means a crash course in CDs, low-rise jeans, those deadly-seeming shoes with the wheels in ’em, really terrible tight cropped T-shirts, Avril Lavigne, and a whole lot more. I will give them points for murder-by-shard-of-broken-CD. Naturally, the trailer includes both worries about the future of the space-time continuum and a trip to the mall. (Watch out for the escalators.) Time Cut comes from director Hannah Macpherson (T@gged); it’s written by Macpherson and Michael Kennedy (Freaky). It’s on Netflix October 30th.[end-mark] The post Netflix Goes Back to the Past in More Ways Than One With the Trailer for Time Cut appeared first on Reactor.
