‘A war zone’: The Robertsons get trapped by Hurricane Helene, and it’s way worse than you know

Americans throughout the Southeast have been stranded by Hurricane Helene without power, water, or cell service — and many have lost their homes and even lives. The devastation is unimaginable, and the Robertson family has witnessed it all firsthand. Al and Lisa Robertson were staying in Black Mountain, which he explains was hit with 20-plus inches of rain in two days — before Hurricane Helene reached them. “There was just the perfect storm, and I say that in a negative way,” Al says. “This one had some bite to it.” “First you’re just praying, you know, spare us, and then you start praying about the people down lower ‘cause you think of down the mountain, this isn’t going to be good. Lisa and I were staying at a little house, kind of pretty much close to the top. I’m praying because I was worried about a mudslide,” he continues. When the morning came around, Al recalls that “it was like a war zone.” And after trying to get out of the mountains, they realized they were landlocked. “We make it about half a mile on I-40 and mudslide,” he explains. “Trees on the road, all this stuff, can’t go this way. So then we’re trying to find is there another way around? Nope. Everything over there’s shut down.” “So then you start thinking, what if we go south? Nope. Closed. There’s a river across the interstate,” he continues. “So we take off north, planning to get high enough up, maybe above the worst damage to cut across and then go east. We get to Tennessee, we’ve been driving a couple hours, and the interstate is collapsed.” “We’re trapped, we cannot leave,” he adds. “We have no phones, we have no electricity at this point, we don’t even have a place to stay, but we do have family. And I’m thinking, I mean, there’s a helplessness that comes over you at that moment, because I got half a tank of gas and there’s no gas stations.” As other people from out of town were waiting for places to open up, Al recalls realizing that those in electric cars were “doomed.” “There’s no electricity for you to power your vehicle with,” he explains. However, Al and Lisa did see signs of hope in the “rednecks” who were prepared and used that to help others. “They helped other people. They would go to their neighbors' [houses], and we saw a whole truckload of people just going from place to place, helping,” Lisa says. Tragically, there are still around a thousand people missing and over a hundred people have been confirmed dead. “It’s going to wind up being devastating numbers for sure,” Al says, sadly. Tulsi Gabbard tells Glenn Beck she's suing Biden admin for placing her on terror watch list

Former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard said she is filing a lawsuit over being placed on a terror watch list after she criticized Vice President Kamala Harris (D) as being unfit to serve as president. Gabbard revealed her litigious intent to Blaze Media co-founder Glenn Beck on his show Wednesday. 'There are many Americans whose names will never make headlines who have also been wrongly targeted by this administration specifically because of their political views and their exercise of their right to free speech.' "The Federal Marshal's whistleblowers came forward and exposed the truth and provided evidence about how one day after I criticized Kamala Harris on a televised national interview, talking about how dangerous the consequences would be if she were to serve as president and commander in chief, the very next day, I was placed on a domestic terror watch list called 'Quiet Skies,'" she said. Gabbard added that the watch list is so secretive that even members of Congress are uninformed about its existence. "Given no reason why I was put on the list, there's no due process to say, 'Hey show me what you got and take me off the list.' As far as I know, the last time that I asked, I heard that the targeting package that the TSA built against me is still operational," she continued. Gabbard said she is pursuing legal action with the help of attorney Jay Sekulow and the American Center for Law and Justice. "I hope that Congress takes this up," she added. "I'm not the only one who's being impacted by this. There are many Americans whose names will never make headlines who have also been wrongly targeted by this administration specifically because of their political views and their exercise of their right to free speech."She said in August that she was still on the watch list after endorsing former President Donald Trump for November. Gabbard helped Trump prepare for his debate with Kamala Harris after the former congresswoman shut down the Democratic vice president during their 2020 Democratic primary debate. Social media erupts with ridicule at Politico spin on Walz's terrified panic and Vance's aggressively anti-feminist beard

An article in Politico was widely ridiculed on social media for trying to explain away the terror-filled panic in the eyes of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) during the debate Tuesday. 'These are the eyes we see when a deer is caught in our headlights.' Many viewers commented on the scared look and demeanor Walz expressed in his debate against Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance, but Politico tried to spin it as a good tactic. "Yes, Vance's beard matters," declared a Politico post from FBI body language expert Joe Navarro. "Vance is the first White House wannabe to wear facial hair in 80 years. Research indicates that voters see beards as more masculine. That can be positive to some. But to others, especially women, it can be negative, conveying aggression and opposition to feminist ideals," the post asserted. On the other hand, "Walz's wide eyes showed his passion," he continued. "Eye-popping can sometimes be a sign of surprise, but for Walz, it simply revealed his emotional intensity — like during an exchange about abortion. The dynamic and emphatic facial motion grabs the viewer's attention. For Walz, it gave extra weight to his feelings and held our gaze."Screenshots of the bizarre spin were posted to social media and went viral. "FBI needs better body language deciphers or ones who have been in the middle of our country & know how people assess emotion. Ain’t no one in the middle of the country who thinks these eyes mean passion These are the eyes we see when a deer is caught in our headlights," responded reporter Salena Zito. "I think that Politico is completely correct here. I have a beard for that exact reason: to convey a sense of aggression and toxic masculinity," replied author Ari Mendelson. "Who comes up with this BS?" read another response. "He showed his true beta male persona, and sounded panicked the whole debate ...""Not sure what drugs they gave Tim last night to calm his high energy, anxiety, and focus.. But, when he wasn’t taking notes like Vance was schooling him - his eyes told you everything," said another critic. Others found a previous post in which Politico described the beard on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as a symbol of wisdom.Pundits immediately after the debate admitted that Vance came off much better than the panicked Walz, but those on the left tried to ease their pain by claiming no one watched the debate and it wouldn't matter to voters. Diablo 4 is about to get a lot harder in Season of Hatred Rising

There are a lot of expectations surrounding the new Diablo 4 expansion, Vessel of Hatred. It, along with the game's new season and general 2.0 update, will either give the classic action RPG game series the makeover many of its players want or see it continue to present some of the same issues it's faced on and off since launch. Today, through a pre-launch Vessel of Hatred livestream from Diablo creator Blizzard, the studio detailed many of the changes set to come to the game next week, with tweaked Torment World Tier difficulty standing out among those discussed as one of the most promising new features.
