Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) accused Israel of “indiscriminate bombing” in its war effort against the terrorist group Hezbollah in Lebanon, ignoring the precise nature of the Israeli attacks in war, their warning to residents to evacuate their homes before the Israeli strikes, and furthermore, the literal indiscriminate bombing Hezbollah carried out for nearly a year on Israel, with more than 8,000 rockets resulting in tens of thousands of Israelis forced to flee their homes. Tlaib started by claiming Israel was committing “genocide” in Gaza, then referred to “the Israeli government’s indiscriminate bombing of Lebanon.” She made no reference to Hezbollah, whose ruthless dominance has caused many Lebanese Christians to flee Lebanon over the decades. New York City Democrat Mayor Eric Adams was indicted on multiple federal corruption charges in an indictment that was unsealed on Thursday. Adams, whose residence was raided on Thursday morning, was indicted on one count of Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud, Federal Program Bribery, and to Receive Campaign Contributions By Foreign Nationals; one count of Wire Fraud; one count of Bribery, and two counts of Solicitation of a Contribution by a Foreign National. The indictment says that Adams began soliciting and accepting improper benefits as a public official dating back to 2014, including luxury international travel from wealthy foreign businesspeople and at least one Turkish government official seeking to gain influence over him. Adams “not only accepted, but sought illegal campaign contributions to his 2021 mayoral campaign, as well as other things of value, from foreign nationals,” the indictment said. Prosecutors said that those who had illegally donated to Adams’ campaign sought to cash in on their investment and were rewarded with “favorable treatment.” Am I Racist? Adams “sought and accepted illegal campaign contributions in the form of ‘nominee’ or ‘straw’ contributions, meaning that the true contributors conveyed their money through nominal donors, who falsely certified they were contributing their own money,” the indictment said. He allegedly compounded his corrupt gains by using them to defraud the city and steal from public funds. “New York City has a matching funds program that matches small-dollar contributions from individual City residents with up to eight times their amount in public funds, to give New Yorkers a greater voice in elections,” the indictment said. “Adam’s campaigns applied for matching funds based on known straw donations, fraudulently obtaining as much as $2,000 in public funds for each illegal contribution.” Adams sought and received improper benefits from some of the foreigners who were illegally funding his campaign, court documents alleged, including paying for numerous luxury travel benefits that totaled $100,000. The mayor “and others working at his direction, repeatedly took steps to shield his solicitation and acceptance of these benefits from public scrutiny,” the indictment said. “Adams did not disclose the travel benefits he had obtained in annual financial disclosures he was required to file as a New York City employee. Sometimes, Adams agreed to pay a nominal fee to create the appearance of having paid for travel that was in fact heavily discounted. Other times, Adams created and instructed others to create fake paper trails, falsely suggesting that he had paid.” One of the Turkish officials who gave to Adams told him in September 2021 that it was his turn to repay the illegal donations he received by “pressuring the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) to facilitate the opening of a new Turkish consular building – a 36-story skyscraper – without a fire inspection, in time for a high-profile visit by Turkey’s president.” “At the time, the building would have failed an FDNY inspection,” the indictment said. “In exchange for free travel and other travel-related bribes in 2021 and 2022 arranged by the Turkish Official, Adams did as instructed. Because of Adams’s pressure on the FDNY, the FDNY official responsible for the FDNY’s assessment of the skyscraper’s fire safety was told that he would lose his job if he failed to acquiesce, and, after ADAMS intervened, the skyscraper opened as requested by the Turkish Official.” If convicted on all charges, Adams faces up to 45 years in prison.

Last month, the Taliban put into effect new laws stripping the women of Afghanistan of the last of their basic human rights. While here in America, feminists like to define their basic human rights as access to abortion, Afghan women are no longer allowed to speak in public, show any skin or leave their home without a male chaperone. As of late August, the Taliban received approval from supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada to put into place its “Vice and Virtue decree,” which prohibits Islamic people from many religious and daily practices. Females were, unsurprisingly, hit the hardest by these new laws. Afghan women have been deemed as temptations, and therefore cannot show any skin or use their voices in public for any reason. They also may not make eye contact with men to whom they are not married, or blood related, out of fear of punishment and torture. These new practices and ones already in place, including the end of education for women at 12 years of age and the inability to see male doctors, have not only left women with no rights, but truly no chance at a healthy and contented life. If these women are not allowed to be educated enough to be health care providers, and also can’t see male doctors, what will happen to them if and when they need health care? They will clearly become sick and suffer — which is, ultimately, the Taliban’s goal. Women have been banned from most public spaces including parks, gyms and many stores. This has left women-led households particularly vulnerable. Since women are no longer let out of the home without a male, they are unable to walk, exercise or even shop for basic necessities like food. Why is no one talking about this? Coming up on a month after the new bans took effect, the Biden Administration has barely mentioned this situation, let alone done anything to combat it. Where are the thousands of women who marched and protested after the overturn of Roe v. Wade and chanted “my body my choice?” Why don’t these people seem to care about the Afghan women having no rights over their bodies — including what they can wear, who they can speak to, or if they can speak at all? Or what about the girls as young as 5-years-old being sold into marriages under the Taliban — what about their choice? The answer ultimately comes down to the sad fact that it was the Biden-Harris Administration who helped fuel the Taliban to be able to perpetrate these acts in the first place. It is American taxpayer dollars that have been sent to make all of this happen. In August, the Taliban received nearly $240 million in U.S. aid. The funds, ironically, even came from a State Department division called “Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor.” How does funding a brutal group that uses physical abuse as punishment for speaking in public qualify as maintaining human rights? In Afghanistan, women’s lives are truly not their own. This is not just a matter of abortion or contraception as we hear in America. Women are being sentenced to death for “moral crimes” such as adultery or refusal of arranged marriages. Women who commit these crimes are being put to death, even by stoning. Afghan women are also eligible for forced “virginity testing” which are often inaccurate tests performed on young women to determine if they have abstained from sexual relations. If girls “fail” these tests, they can face torture, ridicule or death, even in cases of rape. It’s important to note that Afghanistan wasn’t always like this. Prior to the Afghan–Soviet War in 1979, women actually experienced a fair number of freedoms. They were able to work, express themselves through choice of clothing. But after the war, and the initial takeover by the Taliban in 1996, these women and girls slowly started to lose themselves to the evil that had taken over their home. American feminists might want to open their eyes to see beyond their tired and misguided rhetoric. Take a look at what actual denial of a woman’s control over her body looks like. These women will continue to suffer under the Taliban as long as Biden and Harris remain in office. It is their policy blunders that have assisted in the progression of these inhumane acts. In the meantime, Islamic women have taken to social media and to singing in the streets to protest the laws leaving them deprived of actual human rights. A Gazan woman with ties to a U.S.-designated terror organization won an award at the 2024 News and Documentary Emmy Awards Wednesday night.  Bisan Owda, who was once a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), won Outstanding Hard News Feature Story: Short Form category for her Al Jazeera show “It’s Bisan from Gaza and I’m Still Alive.”  Owda’s video series documents her experience following Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel, during which the terrorist group and Gazan civilians massacred and captured Israelis.  The Daily Wire previously reported on Owda’s terrorist ties, including evidence that she was a member of the PFLP, which the United States lists as a terror organization. The Marxist terror group claimed Owda as a member of its youth wing in a 2018 post on its website. (Photo credit: Al Watan Voice) “The most important front is that the people of Gaza, the people in the West Bank, and in Jerusalem, and all the protesters are one hand and one people who will not back down for a moment from their land, from their right to their land,” she said in Arabic. “That is to say, they will not back down at all from their cause and their revolution.” The interview took place at PFLP’s 48th-anniversary celebration in 2015, for which “Comrade” Owda served on the reception committee to welcome the crowds, according to the Palestinian outlet Al Watan Voice.  In photos, Owda was seen on stage addressing the crowd, which included young children and masked men holding knives and Hezbollah flags. Owda, who this year was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, also helped host the following year’s PFLP anniversary celebration, where she opened the event with a moment of silence “in honor of the souls of our revolution’s martyrs,” according to the PFLP’s website. John Lawrence, a senior executive producer at AJ+, accepted Owda’s award during the New York City ceremony. Over 150 entertainment industry professionals signed a letter organized by the Jewish non-profit Creative Community for Peace in August calling for Owda’s nomination to be revoked due to her terrorist ties. Signatories included music and film executives and celebrities like Legally Blonde actress Selma Blair, David Draiman of Disturbed, Will & Grace actress Debra Messing, and Power Rangers creator Haim Saban. National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences President and CEO Adam Sharp, whose organization runs the Emmys, responded to the letter, stating the group was “unable to corroborate these reports, nor has it been able, to date, to surface any evidence of more contemporary or active involvement by Owda with the PFLP organization.” He added that nominees are judged by independent judges and that the Academy  “does not intervene in or countermand the judgment of these journalists except when competition rules have been violated.” Also in attendance at the awards ceremony were Itay and Maya Regev, who had been held hostage by Hamas. The Regevs inspired Yoram Zak’s film “Brother & Sister in Captivity,” which was nominated in a different category than Owda’s. It did not win an award, the Jerusalem Post reported. The film recounts how the Regev siblings were shot, taken hostage to Gaza, and operated on without anesthesia before their release in the November hostage deal. After a long recovery involving extensive physical therapy, Maya has reportedly only recently regained the ability to walk. Owda and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences did not respond to requests for comment. 

Former President Donald Trump delivered a forceful response on Wednesday to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s efforts to assassinate him, saying that once he is president they will be “blown to smithereens” if the threats continue. Trump made the remarks at a campaign event in North Carolina after he was briefed by top national security officials about Iran’s continued efforts to kill him. “If I were the president, I would inform the threatening country, in this case, Iran, that if you do anything to harm this person, we are going to blow your largest cities and the country itself to smithereens,” he said. “We’re going to blow it to smithereens. You can’t do that. And there would be no more threats. There would be no more threats.” During the remarks, Trump thanked Democrats and Republicans for coming together in a bipartisan manner to unanimously pass funding for beefing up the Secret Service to protect and prevent assassination attempts in the future. He slammed the Biden-Harris administration for its weakness in responding to the threats from Iran and took issue with it providing security protection for Iran’s president on U.S. soil “Meanwhile, we have the president of Iran in our country this week, we have large security forces guarding him, and yet they are threatening our former president and the leading candidate to become the next president of the United States — certainly a strange set of circumstances,” he said. “Around the world, our enemies are desperate to prevent Donald Trump from returning to the White House, because they know I will make America great again. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) on Monday will participate in a campaign event alongside the radical environmentalist group pushing to close the state’s largest coal plant. The Sierra Club, a radical environmental group that pushes for the closure of “all U.S. coal plants,” will join Brown at a virtual phone bank sponsored by the Ohio Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign. Earlier this month the group signed a letter sent to Blackstone, the owner of the Gavin coal plant in southeast Ohio, demanding the coal plant be shut down. “You cannot undo the damage from pollutants emitted during Blackstone’s nearly eight years of ownership of Gavin. But you have the opportunity to announce a retirement date of no later than 2028, which could lend Blackstone some credibility in its pledges of emissions reductions and an energy transition and avoid the perception that Blackstone is incapable of shepherding assets through an energy transition and is simply interested in passing the buck,” the letter read. The Sierra Club’s “Beyond Coal Campaign” is seeking to replace “coal and gas with clean energy” by “retiring coal plants, preventing new fossil fuel plants from being built, and working to stop the expansion of fracked gas.” Brown’s partnership with the Sierra Club could cause him problems as he navigates a close race against Republican Bernie Moreno in a state that has long relied on coal for energy and jobs. Brown has attempted to position himself as a moderate on energy, vowing that he “will not turn my back on Ohio’s rural electric co-ops, Ohio energy workers, and Ohio families whose energy bills are already too high.” The Sierra Club officially endorsed Brown, and gave over $2,000 to his campaign this cycle. Brown’s office did not respond to a request for comment. The Sierra Club refers to the Gavin coal plant, which is the largest coal plant in Ohio, as “America’s deadliest coal plant.” Earlier this week, the group also launched an ad campaign calling on Blackstone to close the plant. The Gavin plant employs around 300 people, and energy experts warn that closing coal plants, such as the one in Cheshire, Ohio, would “negatively impact the stability of the electric grid and power markets.” Southeast Ohio has long relied on coal for energy and jobs, and Brown has uniquely positioned himself as a Democrat who opposes some of the Biden-Harris administration’s clean energy mandates for power plants. As the Environmental Protection Agency was seeking to implement new power plant emission rules earlier this year, Brown said the “unachievable rule … could undermine grid reliability, cause job losses for energy workers, and raise energy costs for Ohioans.” Brown has also vowed that he “will not turn my back on Ohio’s rural electric co-ops, Ohio energy workers, and Ohio families whose energy bills are already too high.” Am I Racist? Energy has become a top issue of the 2024 presidential campaign, as former President Donald Trump is promising to ramp up U.S. drilling and fracking, adding that he wants to reduce Americans’ energy costs by 50% in his first year back in office. The former president said during a town hall event in Michigan earlier this month that reducing the cost of groceries begins with addressing high energy costs. “We have to start always with energy,” Trump said. “I don’t want to be boring about it, but there’s no bigger subject that covers everything. If you make donuts, if you make cars, whatever you make, energy is a big deal.”
