I tried the new Cyberpunk 2077 update, and it’s a game changer for AMD

The latest update for Cyberpunk 2077 contains a new feature that makes an enormous difference to the game’s performance on AMD Radeon GPUs, and indeed any modern GPUs that aren’t Nvidia GeForce RTX models. It’s called FSR 3 frame generation, and I’ve just tried it out on my aging AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT. The difference is astounding, making all the difference between the game being smooth and unplayable. Although you’ll find a few AMD GPUs on our best graphics card guide, they struggle to keep up with Nvidia’s latest GPUs when it comes to ray tracing, where you get cinematically realistic lighting, creating amazing shadows and reflections. There are some games that AMD GPUs can already handle with ray tracing, including Resident Evil Village, but Cyberpunk 2077 has been a big thorn in AMD’s side, until now that is. Deadlock patch notes change the map, and players aren’t happy about it

The latest Deadlock update makes plenty of changes, but one in particular has proven pretty controversial. If you’ve been playing Valve’s new blend of MOBA and hero shooter, you’ll probably have a pretty intimate familiarity with its map already. Much like its inspirations in Counter-Strike and Dota 2, learning the layout and intricacies of the Deadlock map is crucial to success. Yet its new-look minimap isn’t winning any fans, and while I’ve yet to play a full game on the new patch I can already see why. Razer’s new BlackWidow gaming keyboard boasts three month battery life

The new Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro 75% has just landed, and it brings a surprising number of upgrades over its non-Pro sibling with it. Along with a new multi-function Command Dial and OLED display, this Razer gaming keyboard can chat to your PC at a 4,000Hz polling rate yet also last a massive 2,100 hours on one battery charge. We're not entirely sure why you need such a long battery life on a desktop PC gaming keyboard, but it's impressive nonetheless. The new Razer contender for a spot on our best gaming keyboard guide also includes hot-swappable switches and Razer's HyperSpeed wireless tech, as well as Bluetooth 5.1. Payday 3 is finally bringing back one of the best parts of Payday 2

Earlier this week, Payday 3 received yet another shake-up, its director stepping away from his role so two new members of the team could take his place overseeing the direction the game will take going into its second year since launch. While we didn't expect major changes to be revealed so soon, this transition is already leading to positive results. Just now, we've learned that the co-op game looking back to systems from Payday: The Heist and Payday 2 for inspiration in a new armor-centered update. Spotify is testing a new way to keep kids songs out of your listening history

Image: Cath Virginia / The Verge If kids are asking to hear one song from Encanto on repeat, it can filter back into the algorithm and recommendations for a parent’s Spotify profile. The company tried addressing the issue with a dedicated kids app, and last year, Spotify added a feature to exclude specific playlists from your taste profile. Now, Spotify is launching a pilot in three countries to test managed accounts for users under the age of 13. For parents and guardians, managed accounts enable them to better tailor the content that is available to young listeners via in-app controls—like managing the playback of Canvas, videos, and content labeled as explicit. They will now also be able to decide whether a young listener can play certain artists or tracks with... Continue reading…

iPhone 16 Pro Max and Pro preorder ship dates slip to October – are you too late?

Apple's iPhone 16 preorders started early on Friday around the world. Like in previous years, your best bet for scoring an iPhone 16 Pro or 16 Pro Max on release day (September 20th) was ordering your chosen model as quickly as possible. You had plenty of time to decide which model to get, how much storage you needed, and what color you liked best. Coming into Friday's preorders, you should have known which iPhone 16 variant you wanted. The preorder process should have been easy, especially if you used the Apple Store app to set up your purchase. If you didn't prepare or took too long to decide, you might have discovered that certain iPhone 16 models have sold out. It happens every year since Apple only earmarks a portion of its release-day inventory for online sales. Once it's gone for certain models, delivery dates start slipping. For the iPhone 16 series, it took about half an hour for the iPhone 16 Pro Max to sell out. Certain iPhone 16 Pro were also unavailable for September 20th delivery at the time of this writing. Are you too late to preorder an iPhone 16 and ensure you'll have it on the release date? You still have time to get yours, but it will involve compromises. Continue reading... 16,000-Year-Old Skeleton, Crystals and Tools Unearthed in Malaysian Cave

Archaeologists in Malaysia have uncovered a 16,000-year-old human skeleton in the Gua Kechil cave complex, shedding new light on the region's prehistoric inhabitants. The remarkable find also includes artifacts providing valuable insights into the lives of some of Southeast Asia's earliest settlers reports Live Science. This discovery is thought to be one of the oldest human remains ever found in Malaysia and could reveal important details about migration patterns and the region’s ancient culture. It was found along with 15 more recent human remains found across 4 sites in the region. A Major Prehistoric Discovery The skeletons have been unearthed during ongoing excavations in the Gua Kechil caves in Pahang, a state in central Malaysia known for its rich archaeological history. According to Archaeology Magazine, 15 of the remains were buried in a crouched position, a burial practice typical of prehistoric societies, and were accompanied by stone tools and shell artifacts. One of the remains was found buried straight, and is dated to the Neolithic period approximately 6,000 years ago. Dr. Rosli Omar, a lead archaeologist on the project, emphasized the significance of the discovery: “This is a key find that will allow us to learn more about how ancient people adapted to the environment here, their survival strategies, and possibly even their social structures”.
