Illegal Aliens Should Be Deported ‘1 at a Time’ Under Trump, Former Border Official Says

MILWAUKEE—If elected to a second term as president, Donald Trump vows, he will deport the illegal aliens who entered the country during the four years of the Biden administration. How? “One at a time,” Mark Morgan, acting commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection during the Trump administration, said Monday at a press conference at the Republican National Convention. Although “people are taken aback by that,” Morgan said, “that’s got to be our attitude.” “What, is our attitude going to be, ‘Well, because there are so many, we’re not going to enforce the law?’ Our nation was built upon the rule of law and a foundation of laws,” he said. Even if the southern border is secured, Morgan said, “we have to send the message to 180 different countries, to millions of illegal aliens, that [you won’t be allowed to stay] if somehow you make your way to this border illegally.” During a May campaign rally in New Jersey, Trump pledged to “send Joe Biden’s illegal aliens back home where they belong.”  Without deporting illegal aliens, “we’re never going to be able to successfully address this issue,” said Morgan, who oversaw CBP from July 2019 to January 2021, when Trump left office.  A second Trump term likely would mean a return to the border and immigration policies that Morgan and Tom Homan, Trump’s acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, implemented for him within the Department of Homeland Security. “There has to be a consequence to breaking our laws,” Homan said at the press conference during The Heritage Foundation’s Policy Fest event.  Morgan and Homan both are now visiting fellows in Heritage’s Border Security and Immigration Center. Former immigration officials Tom Homan, left, and Mark Morgan answer questions Monday during a press conference at The Heritage Foundation’s Policy Fest event at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. If there are no consequences for crossing the border illegally, “you’re never going to fix the problem,” Homan said.  Trump’s border policies, he said, were effective during his four years as president and can be just as effective during a second Trump administration.   “Remain in Mexico [policy]—game changer,” Homan said of Trump’s implemented policies. “Safe third country—game changer, [border] wall—game changer, ending ‘catch and release’—game changer,” Homan said.   Homan and Morgan were clear that they are pro-immigration, but it must be legal immigration.  “Come to our borders,” Morgan said of legitimate asylum-seekers. “Show identification.” If you are a migrant who is truly fleeing persecution in your homeland and have a legitimate asylum claim, Morgan explained, then you should be OK with waiting at a “detention facility that has high standards while you go through your asylum process to ultimately then get one of the greatest rewards you can have—and that’s to be a citizen of the United States.”  Since Biden became president in January 2021, CBP has encountered nearly 10 million illegal aliens at or between ports of entry on America’s borders. Over 1.8 million known “getaways” also have crossed the borders into the country.  The post Illegal Aliens Should Be Deported ‘1 at a Time’ Under Trump, Former Border Official Says appeared first on The Daily Signal.

KJP SLAMMED by Fox, AP, WSJ, Others for Refusing to Say Biden Has to Change Tone

In the first White House press briefing since the failed assassination attempt on former President Trump, reporters from across the spectrum surprisingly took the ever-inept Karine Jean-Pierre to task for failing to state whether President Biden believes he too has to lower the proverbial temperature of our body politic. Along with Fox’s Jacqui Heinrich and Edward Lawrence, they also had cover from ABC, the Associated Press, Bloomberg, and The Wall Street Journal. As usual, the AP led off with Zeke Miller asking Jean-Pierre in straightforward fashion if Biden “regret[s] anything that he has said in the course of this campaign about his Republican rival or anybody else in the political space” and, if not, was his call Sunday to soften the rhetoric merely “a call for other people to make changes”. Jean-Pierre predictably meandered and sputtered her way through, insisting Biden has always been against political violence and his rhetoric has been focused on “disagreements on agendas”: AP’s @ZekeJMiller: “And then, lastly, the President last night said it's time for everyone in the political space to tone it down to cool the political rhetoric. Does the President regret anything that he has said in the course of this campaign about his Republican rival or… pic.twitter.com/sInRM3uRCE — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) July 15, 2024 Miller tried again on any “regret[s]”, but Jean-Pierre doubled down with her change of topic to Biden having been “against violence” and that “it is a moment that we can come together” behind him. ABC’s Elizabeth Schulze recited Biden’s most recent rally before the shooting, calling him out for having said Trump was “a threat to this nation”, so she wanted to know if that would change. Yet again, Jean-Pierre refused to say if Biden would stop referring to his opponent as such an existential threat: ABC’s @ESchulze: “Just last week in Michigan, President Biden called Trump a threat to this nation. Should we expect that he will not be calling out Trump with that kind of rhetoric going forward?” KJP: “So, what I will say is that it is important, right — we believe it's… pic.twitter.com/1RVOoJOV8p — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) July 15, 2024   Bloomberg’s Jenny Leonard kept after it, asking a different way if Biden believes Trump needs to change his ways. Even then, Jean-Pierre didn’t deviate. A few minutes later, Fox’s Jacqui Heinrich admitted she would be asking about this topic: JACQUI TIME, PART 2: “[A]re we going to continue to hear the President in official events or on the campaign trail, use the phrase threat to democracy, specifically?” KJP: “I want to be very clear. The President's always going to denounce violence — forcefully delounce [sic] —… pic.twitter.com/SEwH83JUEc — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) July 15, 2024 Heinrich had a biting follow-up, noting any change in tone “could be really hard to do” since “the platform of this administration, of his campaign…is that Trump and the MAGA Republican agenda is a threat to democracy.” Jean-Pierre robotically kept to her talkers about how both sides “have our differences and it’s okay”, so it’s still fair game “to speak to someone’s record” and “character”. Heinrich asked again point-blank: “Does the President view Trump’s agenda as a threat to democracy?” By refusing to state no, Jean-Pierre showed the apocalyptic rhetoric would continue (click “expand”): JEAN-PIERRE: Look, what I will say is, right now, we’re not going to politicize what happened on Saturday. What happened on Saturday was horrific. It was. It was sick, as the President said. And we got to move forward in the way that we respect each other, that we don’t have that — HEINRICH: [Inaudible]. JEAN-PIERRE: —  we don’t have this type of discourse. HEINRICH: Can you bring us inside the room, though, in a way that you’re — you’re asking to bring down the temperature and have people consider — JEAN-PIERRE: Mmmhmm. HEINRICH: — the language that they use in order to dial back where we’re at. So how are those discussions going on inside? Is there reflecting on language that’s been used? What should — what example is the President setting for others? JEAN-PIERRE: Well, I think the President has set an example. On Saturday — HEINRICH: [Inaudible]. JEAN-PIERRE: — no, but we can’t also discount what’s happened in the past TWO days, right? We can’t discount what the President did on Saturday, right? We can’t. He — uh — he spoke to the former President. He was briefed by his team. He addressed the American people the same night, right? Came back to D.C. yesterday, he had another briefing with his team. He — right after that briefing, he went into the Roosevelt Room, spoke to the American people, and then used the Oval Office, one of the most important tools to use — important places to make a — to make an — to — to give an important address to the American people in primetime on a Sunday. I think that’s important. He wanted to make sure that he — that the American people heard directly from him, from the President of the United States and also wanted to lay out that we should be able to have differences. Violence shouldn’t be a part of that, right? He wanted to lay that out and say we have to bring the temperature down. That was, that I feel like those three moments that we’ve seen in the last three — three days shows how the President is moving forward. It does and it is lowering — lowering the temperature, saying violence has no part in our — in our democracy in America. And saying it is okay to have differences. He also said that. He also said it’s okay to have differences. The Wall Street Journal’s Annie Linskey went with another example of incendiary language from Biden as, also in Michigan, he said Trump becoming president would happen “over my dead body” and the prospect of a second Trump term was “deadly serious.” “[T]hat’s the type of language that we’re — we’re referencing here, and would it be possible to get some sort of indication about whether that kind of language is what we’d expect to continue to hear from the President,” she asked Jean-Pierre continued her engagement in logical fallacies with answers about denouncing political violence and even tacitly defending such rhetoric because it’s important to draw a contrast with someone’s “character”. Fox Business’s Edward Lawrence closed out the briefing with another plainly stated question: FBN’s @EdwardLawrence: “So then, given the language from the leader of the free world, how — does the President or the administration bear any responsibility for the environment that we’re in?” KJP: “What I will say is — and this is just a re — re — repetition of what I’m saying… pic.twitter.com/7avpkyo8Dy — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) July 15, 2024 When that didn’t go anywhere, he tried again: “But…the President from the Oval Office said we have to lower the temperature, but he never said it starts with me.” The Biden flack was unwavering in refusing to say Biden has a role to play, instead claiming in part that “it takes all of us to lower that temperature, and I think that’s important — that’s important to note” Before she took questions, Jean-Pierre had this nauseating tribute to NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell as she officially ended her term as White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) president, saying she had “been a great partner” while also “a trusted ally, friend, and leader” to the press corps. “[I]it has been a joy and I have had — I’ve had the opportunity to know you for some time, even before being at the White House, and I really appreciate it, more personally — uh — your — uh — guidance, your mentorship — uh — in tough times,” she added. Vance and Voice of America hyping online chatter about the presence of female Secret Service agents on Saturday), click here.

Worst Media Outburst of the RNC, Night One: Reid Calls Trump ‘Promoter of Political Violence’

It’s a challenging task but we here at NewsBusters are going to try to sift through all the crazy, angry and ridiculous observations made by leftist journalists every night of the Republican National Convention coverage and pick one for Worst of the Night. So without further ado, the Worst Media Outburst for Monday night goes to MSNBC’s Joy Reid for the following tasteless attack on Donald Trump, comparing him to George Wallace:      “The greatest purveyor and promoter of political violence really [Donald Trump], you know, since anyone can remember, since George Wallace...and people are concerned...we will allow Donald Trump as he is, you know, bathed in the glory and grandeur of his party, to rewrite himself as both a hero and a victim. That people who are the most vulnerable to not just the things he’s done but the things he’s promising to do, and that that will then happen without a guardian saying, ‘Wait, stop,’ and that the media will acquiesce to this rewrite.”— MSNBC’s The ReidOut host Joy Reid on night one of MSNBC’s live coverage of the Republican National Convention, July 15.     Please return to this space for the rest of the week to find out who had the most obnoxious take of the night.

Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez FOUND GUILTY on all counts in federal corruption case

A jury determined that Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) was guilty on several charges related to accusations of bribery and corruption on Tuesday. The jury had been deliberating for 13 hours beginning Friday on the 16 counts filed against Menendez. The charges against Menendez included conspiracy, bribery, extortion, obstruction of justice, and acting as a foreign agent of Egypt while the senator was a chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee. Prosecutors said that the senator had received gold bars and even a Mercedes-Benz vehicle in exchange for political influence. They also found nearly half a million dollars in cash at his residence. Some of the charges on their own may result in a prison term of up to 20 years. Menendez had maintained his innocence throughout the trial. The Democrat had served in the Senate since 2006 but said that he would no longer run in a Democrat primary and would return as an "independent Democrat" if he were able to run again. His attorney previously said that the charges "stink of desperation."Other Democrats have called for Menendez to resign over the bribery allegations. "We have a colleague in the Senate that's actually done much more sinister kinds of things. He needs to go," said Sen. John Fetterman (Penn.). "Menendez is really a senator for Egypt, not New Jersey."Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

Trump campaign and RNC sue Gov. Whitmer over her part in Biden's 'election interference' scheme

Trump campaign and RNC sue Gov. Whitmer over her part in Biden's 'election interference' scheme

President Joe Biden's effort to compel federal agencies to mobilize favorable voting blocs has encountered another serious setback, this time in Michigan. Background The Heritage Foundation's government watchdog Oversight Project revealed via a Blaze News exclusive in May how the dutiful enactment of Biden's Executive Order 14019 could play out as "election interference." The EO takes for granted that minorities, particularly black people, are disproportionately met today with "significant obstacles" to voting, especially by "voter identification laws and limited opportunities to vote by mail." To rectify this supposed problem affecting groups that disproportionately vote Democrat, Biden suggested it is critical that his administration enmesh itself more fully in the election process and compelled federal agencies to "consider ways to expand citizens' opportunities to register to vote and to obtain information about, and participate in, the electoral process." Mike Howell, executive director of the Oversight Project, previously pointed out to Blaze News how Demos, a leftist think tank whose 2020 recommendations to the Biden administration ostensibly inspired EO 14019, boasted that the so-called "BidenBucks" scheme could bring in as many as 3 million new voter registrations per year. Even though Biden's decrepitude has hurt him in the polls in the aftermath of his disastrous debate with President Donald Trump, millions of votes in critical swing states could nevertheless tip the election in his favor. 'The Biden administration’s desperation to unfairly and illegally win the election knows no bounds.' Besides exposing various agencies' strategic plans, the Oversight Project highlighted three ways states could derail the scheme: Pass laws attacking the application of the order with regard to presidential elections; frustrate the scheme with complaints about possible Hatch Act violations; and remove or attack designations of federal agencies to act under the National Voter Registration Act that were not provided by the state or were provided without appropriate authority. Some Republicans were apparently paying attention. Fighting back Earlier this month, Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales (R) revealed he had taken action accordingly, informing federal agencies and departments active in his state that they were prohibited from engaging in voter registration and other election activities without state authorization. Morales noted in a letter to the various EO-guided agencies in Indiana, "If your agency has been distributing voter registration forms or assisting the public with voter registration or absentee voting forms, you are requested to discontinue such action immediately, as the unauthorized conduct of such activity is likely violative of Indiana and federal law." "States know best when it comes to our elections," Morales wrote on X. "We don't need federal government overreach to run safe, secure elections!" Last week, the America First Policy Institute, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose (R), Republican Texas Reps. Ronny Jackson and Beth Van Duyne, and others filed a lawsuit against Biden, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and several other big names in the Democratic administration over the EO, claiming Biden and his cabinet officials "have usurped States' role in registering voters and redirected federal resources to partisan voter mobilization efforts, in violation of federal law." Echoing many of the concerns raised by the Oversight Project, the complaint noted that Biden's "EO and its implementing agency actions violate federal law, including multiple violations of the Administrative Procedure Act." It also emphasized that the EO unconstitutionally expands the federal government's role in elections. "The Biden administration’s desperation to unfairly and illegally win the election knows no bounds," Rep. Jackson said in a statement. "Instead of instilling policies that Americans want and need, they turn to the well-oiled D.C. swamp filled to the brim with deep state loyalists to illegally register voters in an attempt to help them win." LaRose noted, "This is a cynical attempt to turn government agencies into a Democratic turnout machine, and it's wrong. That's why I'm joining this lawsuit and working to hold the administration accountable." Taking Whitmer to court Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) and her administration appear especially keen to help see through Biden's initiative. The Oversight Project indicated that the U.S. Small Business Administration announced an agreement with the Michigan Department of State to aid in the realization of Biden's EO. That's particularly troubling given that Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson's poor track record when it comes to elections. A court determined in 2021 that she violated state law by unilaterally altering absentee voting rules ahead of the 2020 election. She also worked closely with Mark Zuckerberg-funded groups to influence state elections in 2019. — (@) The Trump campaign, the Michigan Republican Party, and the Republican National Convention sued the Biden administration, Whitmer, and Benson on Monday over the "BidenBucks" scheme. The lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan accused Whitmer of issuing an executive directive in December to designate several state and federal agencies as voter registration agencies — including the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs — despite lacking the legislative authorization to do so. 'This is an illegal attempt by Biden, Whitmer, Benson, and the party in power to manipulate our country's most important election.' The lawsuit indicated further that Benson, who similarly lacks such authorization, did likewise, designating various Small Business Administration offices throughout the state VRAs. "Because these unauthorized actions do not represent lawful designations by the State of Michigan for purposes of Section 7 of the NVRA, the designated VA and SBA offices are not lawfully operating as VRAs under federal law," said the complaint. The Oversight Project previously indicated that the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 provides that federal and nongovernmental offices can only "engage in the type of activities directed by the Executive Order if a state 'designate[s]' that office to act as a voter registration agency." The plaintiffs are seeking a "permanent injunction barring the State Defendants from designating any VRAs without express authorization from the Michigan Legislature." RNC Chairman Michael Whatley said in a statement, "The federal government should not be using American taxpayers' dollars to conduct unauthorized voter registration activities." "This is an illegal attempt by Biden, Whitmer, Benson, and the party in power to manipulate our country's most important election," continued Whatley. "We are committed to stopping this election integrity violation and securing our elections." The Oversight Project said of the lawsuit, "The exposure of the 'BidenBucks' scheme to turn the entire Federal government into President @JoeBiden campaign's get-out-the-vote is in legal jeopardy." A spokeswoman for the Michigan Department of State told Blaze News in a statement, "It is unfortunate that this divisive, partisan lawsuit was filed yesterday. Making it easier for veterans and small business owners in Michigan to register to vote should not be controversial." The spokeswoman added, "We will review this and any other litigation that comes our way but remain committed to ensuring that every Michigan voter has the tools and resources they need to participate in every election." Blaze News also reached out to the governor's office but did not immediately receive a response. Like Blaze News? Demons are cool. That’s just an inescapable reality that many games suffer with. You’ll be punching, kicking, slicing, and stabbing demons and wondering why you’re stuck with the nice guys who frankly tend to lack style.
