Since 2014, Jason Bonham, son of Led Zeppelin‘s John Bonham, has been a member of Sammy Hagar‘s band. A few months ago, he had to leave the band’s current tour because his mother was in the hospital fighting for her life. To continue the tour, Hagar hired Kenny Aronoff and then decided to keep him in the band. Bonham said recently he was surprised by that and now Hagar explained in an interview with Rolling Stone why he decided to make this change. Sammy Hagar explains why he decided to hire a new drummer "Yeah (It was not easy for Kenny to learn the songs fast), and that’s why he is still in the band. That’s why we’re moving forward with him. There’s two reasons. Number one, he’s one of the greatest drummers on the planet. I think he’s been on more million-selling records than any musician in the world. And he did so well on this tour, and he plays with Joe on a full-time basis." "Keeping this Best of All Worlds band together is difficult when you got Jason doing his thing, you got Joe doing his thing, you got Mike and I. We need our beach time and our taco nights, Taco Tuesdays and stuff. Trying to get it together, it really helps by having Kenny’s schedule be with Joe. If Joe’s available, Kenny’s available, and it’s not trying to put pieces together." He continued: "Kenny’s right here. We can rehearse any day of the week. And he blew my mind. I played with Kenny in Chickenfoot, and he blew my mind then too, because when we auditioned him, he learns every song. 'Tell me what songs we’re playing.' 'Okay, here they are.'" The former Journey vocalist Steve Perry released a new song called "Call Me Irresponsible" which is a duet with his late father Ray Perry. The track is already available on streaming platforms and will be part of the new expanded edition of "The Season", the Christmas album he released a few years ago. He talked about the song, saying: “My father, Ray Perry, was a singer and when I was a child he would sing to me at bedtime. The Van Halen co-founder and drummer Alex Van Halen recently released the book "Brothers", which tells the story of him and his late brother, the guitarist Eddie Van Halen, and the first years of their band. However, he decided to tell their story only until 1985, before Sammy Hagar joined the group and in recent interviews he said that the real magic of the band was really between him, his brother and David Lee Roth. He also said that he doesn't care about the current Sammy Hagar tour which celebrates the "Van Hagar" era and also has the bassist Michael Anthony. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Hagar was asked how he felt about being left out of Alex's book and those statements. Sammy Hagar talks about Alex Van Halen dismissing his era with the band "It's sad. I haven't read the whole book, but I've seen all the excerpts, and I heard some of the interviews. It breaks my heart, because if I think what Alex is going through, losing his brother, never played with anybody else in his life, and then his health. When I saw how rickety he is, I realized, 'No wonder he's not answering my call when I say, 'Do you want to go out and play with us?' He can't. That breaks my heart, because I can only put myself in those shoes and say, 'What if I couldn't sing and perform anymore?'" The legendary Deep Purple and Rainbow guitarist, Ritchie Blackmore, started his musical career in 1960, the same year The Beatles were formed. However, he first achieved fame when Paul McCartney, George Harrison, John Lennon, and Ringo Starr were already changing the world. The Beatles influenced practically every rock band that emerged after the '60s, directly or indirectly. But did they influence Blackmore? What is his opinion of Paul McCartney? What is Ritchie Blackmore's opinion on Paul McCartney Besides being one of the most influential guitar players of all time, Blackmore also is quite sincere about other bands and artists. So when he praises someone, he really thinks they are good. He likes McCartney and even said he was the greatest composer the world had during the past 100 years. A few decades later when Deep Purple reunited their classic line-up in 1984, they simply had George Harrison as a guest on stage. Jon Lord and Ian Paice were Harrison's neighbours and they became really good friends. So when Purple was playing in Australia and Harrison was also there, the Beatle went to see them playing live. They gave him a guitar and Harrison joined them on stage to play a version of Little Richard's "Lucille". In an interview with Warner Brothers Music (Transcribed by Rock and Roll Garage) back in 1987 he recalled that moment. “They’re my neighbors, two of them, Jon (Lord) and Ian (Paice). They live near me and I’ve known them now for probably 8, 9 years. Yet they were so famous in the 70s, I got to know them in the period after they broken up before they reformed. So I never knew their music. I mean, I heard this one thing about ‘Smoke On The Water’ or something like that. I’ve actually never seen them and I heard that they are in the Guinness Book Of Records for being the loudest group in the world.” He continued: “So I thought, well, I was in Australia at the time and they happened to be doing a concert in Sydney. So I thought I’d go and check them out, get my earplugs and go and see them. I really enjoyed the show. I sat on the stage for part of the show behind the loudspeakers. Then I walked down and sat right on the center of the hall and it was not too loud. It was really funny, I liked it.” “I thought Ian, who is my neighbor, Ian Paice, he is such a good drummer and Jon Lord, rocking his organ (laughs). Ian Gillan, I thought he is just a scream, he is really funny. I enjoyed and they said ‘Hey! Here’s a guitar, come on!’ So I just went on and sang.
