This week’s host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, Desi Lydic, joined the cast of Monday’s CBS Mornings to promote her upcoming episodes. Throughout the segment, Lydic and her hosts would hype the fellow Paramount property as a place that people can go to get not only entertaining, but informed takes on politics, and also start conversations they wouldn’t otherwise have. It all sounded nice, but was completely disconnected from The Daily Show that exists in the real world. Co-host and Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition cover model Gayle King began the segment by introducing Lydic, “Viewers know her for her dry sense of humor and clever takes on politics and current events. She is hilarious. She joined the Emmy Award-winning show in 2015. Recently, she poked fun at Nebraska for being one of only two states that splits its electoral votes by congressional district rather than the winner takes all.”     In the clip that CBS showed, Lydic was actually arguing that Nebraska’s system is better than a winter-take-all and condemning those who sought to switch to such a system. Her main point, however, was that the Electoral College should be done away with and replaced with the popular vote, which King eagerly embraced, “I think she might be onto something.” Later, co-host Nate Burleson asked Lydic, “When it comes to comedy, especially during these times, I feel like there's an appetite for intelligent, political comedy because it gives the people the information they need while making them feel comfortable about the chaos that they are currently living in. Not that this hasn’t always been here, but nowadays I feel like there is a bigger stage for entertainers like you. Do you feel like that's the case?” Lydic claimed a special ability to build cross-aisle bridges: Well, it does feel like things are so polarized and people are getting the news from the sources that reflect back their own opinions. You know, it feels like we're all kind in echo chambers and, you know, I personally am certainly more on the left-leaning side. The Daily Show tends to be a more progressive show, but I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. My parents are Republicans, have been Republicans for quite some time, so, you know, those conversations can be challenging, and humor at its best can be sort of disarming and maybe start conversations that wouldn't happen otherwise. That sounds nice, but speaking of Kentucky, last year, Lydic took a field trip to the state with the Washington Post’s Perry Bacon Jr., who used the interview to urge people to harass Republicans at church and the grocery store. In the same interview, Lydic reveled in Sen. Rand Paul getting his “ass kicked” by his neighbor. Regardless, Lydic did Jon Stewart’s classic clown nose on, clown nose off routine as she added “So, we want to entertain people. We’re not out to change the world.” Burleson was not prepared to let Lydic sell herself short, “But that helps when you write, that you understand both perspectives.” Lydic agreed, “I think it's important to get curious about what other people feel and if you're at odds, you know, ask questions. Have a little empathy. Try to have a meaningful conversation about it.” Again, that sounds nice, but Lydic doesn’t put her money where her mouth is. She could interview a conservative, but that is not scheduled to happen. Instead, we’ll probably get more claims like “having a vagina does not make you a woman” or that Jesus would approve of Transgender Visibility Day. Aimee Harris moved into the former residence of Ashley Biden in Delray Beach, Florida, in 2020. Just as Hunter Biden abandoned a laptop containing damning information at a Delaware computer repair shop, Ashley Biden had left behind a diary containing troubling allegations that implicated then-presidential candidate Joe Biden in possible abuse. After finding the diary, Harris worked in concert with Robert Kurlander to sell the document, ultimately, to Project Veritas. Kurlander and Harris pleaded guilty years later to conspiracy to transport supposedly stolen property across state lines. Project Veritas refrained from publishing it, both out of concern for doing more harm to Ashley Biden than her father may already have and the organization's inability to "corroborate the allegation further." The National File, however, published a digital copy it allegedly received from a Project Veritas employee in October 2020. Just as social media dutifully hid the Hunter Biden laptop story from the public ahead of the 2020 election, Politifact indicated that damning posts about the Democrat in the diary were flagged as misinformation. Once again, the so-called misinformation of yesteryear has matured into the cold hard facts of today. Proven Snopes has updated its fact-check page on the diary, confirming both that the diary belonged to Ashley Biden and that the president's daughter accused him of inappropriate behavior. The page previously indicated that the claim that "a diary authored by U.S. President Joe Biden's daughter, Ashley, describes inappropriate actions toward her taken by the president when she was a child" was "unproven." Up until this month, the Snopes entry indicated the claim was unproven because "the authenticity of this document or the images published by National File have not been confirmed." The fact-check outfit was compelled to change its tune after Ashley Biden, 42, once again confirmed the diary was hers in an April 8 letter to the judge overseeing Harris' case in New York. "I am deeply saddened that I even have to write this letter because my personal private journal was stolen and sold for profit," wrote Ashley Biden. While admitting the document was hers, Ashley Biden attempted to cast doubt on the veracity of her various entries, suggesting they were "stream-of-consciousness thoughts." 'Was I molested. I think so.' "Repeatedly, I hear others grossly misinterpret my once-private writings and lob false accusations that defame my character and those of the people I love," added Ashley Biden. 'Showers w/ my dad' In one of the more troubling entries in the diary, penned in January 2019, Ashley Biden explores the causes of her "sexual trauma" and apparent sex addiction. "I know it's not the healthiest way to deal with things but @ least it's better than drugs," wrote the president's daughter. Ashley Biden then indicated that her unchecked sex drive may have been the result of childhood trauma. "Hyper-sexualized @ a young age. What is this due to? Was I molested. I think so — I can't remember specifics but I do remember trauma — I remember not liking the Woolzacks house, I remember somewhat being sexualized with Caroline [Biden, her cousin]; I remember having sex with Friends @ a young age; showers w/ my dad (probably not appropriate), Being turned on when I wasn't suppose to be." George, director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton University, noted that the Snopes update "strikes me as what Joe Biden might describe as a 'big [expletive] deal.' Bill Maher and comedian Bill Burr went after cancel culture in Maher's recent "Club Random" podcast episode, suggesting that it is time to welcome Louis CK back to the big stage following the comedian's sexual misconduct allegations. CK was accused of sexual misconduct in 2017, and he ultimately admitted that he masturbated in the presence of colleagues. The spat caused some rifts in CK's career, such as being dropped from major projects. However, the comedian has clawed his way back, touring and performing live again.'They took $50 million; I think they punished him.'Maher and Burr appeared to agree that while the #MeToo movement started as something everyone could agree on, it quickly lost its way and turned into something else. The #MeToo movement was kicked off in 2006 by activist Tarana Burke, but it gained national attention in 2017 with the Harvey Weinstein scandal.Cancel culture has specifically scrutinized stand-up comedians over the past few years, with those on the far left pushing for performers to be barred from telling jokes that could be deemed too offensive. Maher and Burr said that CK had been "punished" enough for his violation and that he should be allowed to resume his career. The two added that his behavior was "not the end of the world." A brawl erupted after around 200 "rowdy" teens gathered at a Minnesota shopping mall carnival over the weekend. One juvenile jumped on the back of an officer while another struck the officer in the head with her elbow. That officer was later diagnosed with a concussion," a Blaine Police Department news release noted, according to KARE.The station said overhead police drone video shows teens stepping around officers to kick individuals on the ground, teens and officers pushing each other, and observers capturing it all on cell phones. "The bad policies and poor leadership have negatively impacted major life issues. Things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia, as well as a growing support for the degenerate cultural values and media all stem from pervasiveness of disorder.""Our own nation is led by a man who publicly and proudly proclaims his Catholic faith, but at the same time is delusional enough to make the sign of the cross during a pro-abortion rally," he added, referring to an incident last month."He has been so vocal in his support for the murder of innocent babies that I’m sure to many people, it appears you can both Catholic and pro-choice," Butker went on to say. "He is not alone. From the man behind the COVID lockdowns to the people pushing dangerous gender ideologies onto the youth of America, they all have a glaring thing in common: They are Catholic. "We fear speaking truth because now, unfortunately, truth is in the minority."'Diabolical lies'During the 20-minute speech, Butker directly addressed the "diabolical lies" that he believes progressive culture tells young women today. "Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world," he said. "I can tell you that my beautiful wife, Isabelle, would be the first to say that her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and as a mother. "I'm on this stage today and able to be the man I am because I have a wife who leans into her vocation," he explained. "I'm beyond blessed with the many talents God has given me, but it cannot be overstated that all of my success is made possible because a girl I met in back in middle school would convert to the faith and become my wife and embrace one of the most important titles of all: homemaker. "She's a primary educator to our children. She's the one who ensures I never let football or my business become a distraction from that of a husband and father," Butker said."I say all of this to you because I have seen it firsthand how much happier someone can be when they disregard the outside noise and move closer and closer to God's will in their life," he explained. "Isabelle's dream of having a career might not have come true, but if you ask her today if she has any regrets on her decision, she would laugh out loud without hesitation and say, 'Heck no.'"Strong menAfter addressing women, Butker turned his attention to the men.He argued that another lie that "plagues our society" is that men "are not necessary in the home or in our communities." That lie, Butker said, sows "disorder, dysfunction, and chaos" in society."Be unapologetic in your masculinity, fighting against the cultural emasculation of men. Do hard things. Never settle for what is easy. While Trump’s campaign is looking up, Joe Biden’s couldn’t look worse. “The bottom line is the polling that came out for Joe Biden today is catastrophic. I mean it’s just continually terrible and has been terrible for a while,” Stu Burguiere explains. The poll Stu is referencing is from the New York Times and Siena College, which shows that Trump leads in five key states as “young and non-white voters express discontent with Biden.” Included in the poll is Wisconsin, where Joe Biden leads 47 to 45. However, that’s the only good news for Biden in this particular poll, as Trump leads in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona, Georgia, and Nevada. In Georgia and Nevada, Trump’s leads are far outside the margin of error. In the Siena College poll, a question was asked of Americans just how much the political system needs to change in America. A majority believed major change was needed, with an additional 14% saying it needs to be “torn down entirely.” Those who took the same poll overwhelmingly believe that Donald Trump is the candidate who would bring more change than Joe Biden. While Trump’s chances are looking up, Stu hasn’t forgotten that there is a lot of time before the election. “We don’t even know who’s on the ticket with Donald Trump yet. So there’s still a lot to know. But look, it’s Trump’s to lose,” Stu says. “This would be true with any Republican, frankly. You have a president who is absolutely terrible at his job. SciTech Daily reported that researchers at Stanford University have made strides in spatial computing with the development of an augmented reality headset. The headset is a prototype that can project full-color, 3D dynamic images onto lenses that look like regular glasses.Unlike the bulkier reality systems of yesteryear, the new model provides a 3D immersive experience in a design that the wearer can use all day. While the glasses are only a prototype, researchers said that the advanced technology could be used in gaming, entertainment, training, and even education in the future.“One could imagine a surgeon wearing such glasses to plan a delicate or complex surgery or airplane mechanic using them to learn to work on the latest jet engine."Gordon Wetzstein, an associate professor of electrical engineering, said, "Our headset appears to the outside world just like an everyday pair of glasses, but what the wearer sees through the lenses is an enriched world overlaid with vibrant, full-color 3D computed imagery."Wetzstein and a group of engineers introduced their work in a research paper that was published in the journal Nature.Part of the paper's abstract stated:Emerging spatial computing systems seamlessly superimpose digital information on the physical environment observed by a user, enabling transformative experiences across various domains, such as entertainment, education, communication and training.Manu Gopakumar, a doctoral student in Wetzstein's Computational Imaging lab and coauthor of the paper, said, "One could imagine a surgeon wearing such glasses to plan a delicate or complex surgery or airplane mechanic using them to learn to work on the latest jet engine."Until now, devices have offered subpar 3D visual experiences and clunky headsets. But part of the researchers' goal with the new device was to develop a headset that provided slick 3D imaging without sacrificing physical comfort.Another coauthor of the paper, Suyeon Choi, said that "beyond bulkiness, these limitations can also lead to unsatisfactory perceptual realism and, often, visual discomfort." — (@) Stanford University reported the researchers have managed to take advantage of "technical barriers through a combination of AI-enhanced holographic imaging and new nanophotonic device approaches." The report also mentioned that displaying augmented reality usually requires using a complex optical system. In such a system, the user would not see reality through the lenses of the headset. Instead, there would be cameras mounted on the outside of the headset that would capture the world in real-time, combining those images with computed imagery.“The user sees a digitized approximation of the real world with computed imagery overlaid. In 2019, business was booming for Dominique Galbraith. Then, the New York bridal designer received a request for a wedding jumpsuit for a same-sex marriage. Galbraith, who is a Christian, was faced with a decision. “Do I take the money and just turn the blind eye to what I know is against my belief as a Christian,” she recalls as she tells her story to Allie Beth Stuckey. “I would knowingly be creating a garment for what is against my faith.” Ultimately, Galbraith decided against creating the wedding jumpsuit. “I shared with them why, I shared my faith, I also encouraged them to reconsider. Now, some may say like, ‘Girl, you didn’t have to go that far,’ but I’m a Christian, and I’m a minister of the gospel,” she explains. “Good for you,” Stuckey says, impressed. “You were like, 'I’m not just going to say no, but I’m going to share the gospel because the word of God does not return void,' and you planted a seed.” However, the lesbian couple didn’t see it the same way — hiring a law firm to go after her. “They seemed to be the most angry that I shared the gospel, that I spoke the truth,” she tells Stuckey, noting that the couple never actually responded to the email but posted screenshots of her email explaining her decision to Facebook. In the caption on Facebook, the couple pointed out that Galbraith was a woman of color. “They seem to be even more shocked that a woman of color would have the stance that you do as a Christian, which is interesting that they decided to point that out,” Stuckey says. “That’s the other thorn, that because I’m black, and because I’m a black woman, that I need to align with the LGBTQ. And I’m insulted by that, because the thought is that racism in America and what the LGBTQ has experienced in America are the same,” Galbraith says. “They’re not. It’s not a sin to be black.” “It is a sin to be gay, period,” she adds.
