Breitbart reports: The soon-to-be-formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by X owner and Tesla CEO Elon Musk and entrepreneur and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, shared some examples of obscene government waste on Monday so Americans can have some clear examples of what needs to be cut. DOGE shared a clip of Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), widely known for his annual Festivus government waste report, walking through some of the most shocking ways the U.S. government has wasted taxpayer dollars. One of the studies highlighted by both Paul and DOGE in involves seeing what makes a sunfish more aggressive: Gin or tequila. About $100,000 went toward that project. The U.S. government also spent nearly one million on a study to see if cocaine makes Japanese quail more “sexually promiscuous.” It does not end there, either. It’s been recently confirmed that the suspect, Jose Antonio Ibarra, in the murder of Lake Riley is a member of Tren de Aragua. That is a transnational criminal organization out of Venezuela. Rosbeli Flores Bello, a Venezuelan migrant and former roommate of Ibarra, testified at his trial that she stayed at the iconic Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, which had been turned into a temporary migrant intake center. Flores Bello said she and others “requested a humanitarian flight to come here to Atlanta.” She had gone to Athens, Georgia, to find work that Ibarra’s brother Diego had promised her. Less than six months later, Ibarra allegedly hunted down and killed Riley in Athens on Feb. 22. Prosecutors showed the exact timing of her struggle with Ibarra and her death through digital forensics on her phone and smartwatch, which tracked her heart rate reaching a peak of 170 beats per minute and dramatically dropping to zero. Former prosecutor Glenn Kirschner suggests special counsel Jack Smith may soon release a critical report on President Donald Trump. What could it possibly say? As you might know, the cases against Trump are currently paused due to legal precedent barring prosecution of a sitting president. President Trump, who has denied all charges, plans to dismiss Smith quickly upon taking office. The impending report should be quite entertaining. Truthful though? Doubtful. Newsweek reports: According to Glenn Kirschner, a former prosecutor and legal analyst, on Saturday, Department of Justice (DOJ) special counsel Jack Smith could soon drop an “eye-opening” report on President-elect Donald Trump’s criminal cases. Trump, who won the 2024 presidential election over Vice President Kamala Harris, still has two pending criminal matters—his federal 2020 election subversion case and the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case—that are said to be set aside due to his victory since sitting presidents cannot be criminally prosecuted under the law. The president-elect has pleaded not guilty to all charges in the cases. However, with these cases yet to go to trial, Trump has vowed to dismiss Smith “within two seconds” of assuming office, as he told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt in October. However, The New York Times reported on Wednesday that Smith intends to conclude his work and step down with his team before then, completing all significant aspects of the investigations himself. Smith’s office is currently developing a strategy to conclude the cases, though unforeseen factors, including court rulings or actions by other government officials, could potentially affect his timeline. In addition, the U.S. Constitution says a sitting president can grant pardons for federal crimes. Whether that can apply to pardoning himself—if Trump were to be convicted in the federal election subversion case remains to be seen as this has never happened in U.S. history. In the president-elect’s classified documents case, Judge Aileen Cannon, who oversaw the case and was appointed by Trump in 2020, dismissed it. Smith, however, has since filed an appeal. Kirschner, a former assistant U.S. attorney and frequent Trump critic, spoke in a YouTube video on Saturday about Smith’s developing strategy to conclude the cases in which he predicted that before Smith steps down he will drop an “eye-opening” report on Trump’s criminal cases. “We are going to see, I’m quite confident, a several hundred-page report from special counsel Jack Smith documenting all of the evidence of crimes by Donald Trump and probably his many criminal associates. That will be an eye-opening moment. It will probably be a jaw dropping moment and it will really be a disheartening moment. Why? Because it looks like those crimes might forever go unprosecuted. That is not a sure thing but that is certainly where unfortunately the smart money is riding,” Kirschner said. His resignation can’t come too soon.

The alleged attacker, Ramon Rivera, is a 51-year-old homeless man with eight arrests. Gov. Mike DeWine (R-OH) is expected to sign the bill that would also prohibit any-gender bathrooms or locker facilities. The policy would not apply to school employees, the disabled or children under 10 who require the assistance of a family member or guardian. Advocates of the bill argue that gender-neutral bathrooms have allowed for the rape of female students and allowing biological males into female bathrooms is intimidating for girls and women.
