Hunter Biden Makes Surprise Appearance Before Oversight Committee Advances Contempt Resolution

In a chaotic day of political theater on Capitol Hill Wednesday‚ the House Oversight and Accountability Committee advanced a contempt of Congress resolution against the president’s son‚ Hunter Biden.  The House Judiciary Committee advanced its own contempt resolution earlier the same day. The two committees are involved with the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden‚ along with the House Ways and Means Committee. NEW: Judiciary Committee's Hunter Biden Contempt of Congress report is now bipartisan — adopting an amendment to reassert Congress' inherent contempt authority to fine‚ detain‚ or imprison individuals who refuse to comply with a congressional subpoena. https://t.co/2Mr2FScU0x— House Judiciary GOP (@JudiciaryGOP) January 10‚ 2024 The full House will vote on the contempt resolutions as early next week.  After a full day of intense debate‚ beginning at about 10 a.m. and stretching to just before 6 p.m.‚ the Oversight Committee approved the resolution on a party-line vote of 25-21. After openly defying congressional subpoenas‚ the younger Biden surprisingly showed up in the Oversight Committee’s hearing room ahead of the contempt vote with two lawyers. This prompted Democrats to say he should be given a chance to speak publicly. However‚ after significant shouting by committee members at each other‚ Hunter Biden and his lawyers left.  The president’s son expects to follow a different set of rules‚ said Rep. Byron Donalds‚ R-Fla.  “He has the gall to come here and show up‚ and then when the Democrats are saying‚ ‘Hey‚ he wants to speak‚’ he leaves‚” Donalds said. “The man has been subpoenaed by Congress. … He should be held in contempt. There was a subpoena. He did not answer it. Any other American would be held in contempt by Congress.” ?BREAKING: Our Committee has passed a resolution recommending the House of Representatives find Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress for defying a lawful subpoena. pic.twitter.com/t4bNmUIcVw— Oversight Committee (@GOPoversight) January 10‚ 2024 The committee was filled with partisan fireworks from the outset.  “You’re the epitome of white privilege‚ coming into the oversight committee‚ spitting in our face‚” Rep. Nancy Mace‚ R-S.C.‚ said to Hunter Biden shortly after he and his lawyers entered the committee hearing room.  Rep. Jared Moskowitz‚ D-Fla.‚ leapt to Hunter Biden’s defense.  “We can hear from Hunter Biden right now‚” Moskowitz said. Mace jumped in to say‚ “Hunter Biden should be arrested right here.” If approved by the full House‚ with a narrow Republican majority‚ the matter will be referred to the Justice Department. Contempt of Congress is a violation of the law‚ similar to contempt of court. Last year‚ two former White House officials under President Donald Trump—Peter Navarro and Steve Bannon—were convicted of contempt of Congress for declining to attend closed depositions by the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol.  Three House committees are conducting an impeachment inquiry into the president over evidence of influence peddling by family members that brought some $20 million from foreign individuals and entities‚ including from Russia and China‚ into shell companies owned by Biden family members.  On Dec. 13‚ the day the subpoena directed him to appear before the Oversight Committee for a closed-door deposition‚ Hunter Biden instead gave remarks outside the Capitol‚ defying the subpoena. His lawyer‚ Abbe Lowell‚ said his client would appear on his terms and in public testimony only.  That same day‚ White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the president “was certainly familiar with what his son was going to say.”  On Wednesday‚ Jean-Pierre was asked if the president knew that Hunter Biden would show up on Capitol Hill. “Hunter‚ as you all know‚ is a private citizen‚ he is not a member of this White House‚ he makes his own decisions‚ like he did today about how to respond to Congress‚” she said. Democrats on the panel insisted Hunter Biden’s presence proved he was willing to cooperate with Congress.  Committee members shouted over one another.  Hunter Biden and his lawyers walked out of the room when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene‚ R-Ga.‚ began to speak.  “Hunter Biden is terrified of strong conservative Republican women because he can’t even face my words as I was about to speak to him‚” Greene said. “What a coward!” Outside the hearing room‚ Hunter Biden stood next to Lowell‚ also accompanied by California lawyer and ally Kevin Morris.  “Hunter Biden was and is a private citizen‚” Lowell told reporters as the first son stood silent. “Despite this‚ Republicans have sought to use him as a surrogate to attack his father.”  Lowell added‚ “The question there is‚ what are they afraid of?” Rep. Gerald Connolly‚ D-Va.‚ excoriated Republicans on the committee and cast Hunter Biden as a victim in an investigation of the president. “You can’t go after the principal‚ so you go after the people around him‚” Connolly said. “This is mean-spirited‚ cruel‚ and beneath the dignity of this body.” Rep. Mike Waltz‚ R-Fla.‚ noted that Democrats who argued Hunter Biden should be able to choose the terms of cooperation with a subpoena did not have the same view in previous investigations.  He first noted that Donald Trump Jr. gave five depositions to congressional committees behind closed doors.  “Let’s talk about precedent for a moment of a president’s son abiding by lawful subpoenas of the Congress‚” Waltz said. “Donald Trump Jr. came before this body‚ he came before the House Intelligence Committee‚ he came before the House Judiciary Committee‚ he came before the Senate Intelligence Committee twice‚ he came before the so-called Jan. 6 Committee‚ all behind closed doors‚ where lawyers can sit down‚ both sides of the aisle‚ and have a conversation‚ go through documents‚ under oath‚ which is the precedent for any committee.” Several Democrats on the committee brought up allies of former President Trump who did not comply with the subpoenas of the House Jan. 6 Committee.  Waltz brought up an example to Oversight Committee Ranking Member Rep. Jamie Raskin‚ D-Md.‚ who was also a member of the Jan. 6 Committee: “When Steve Bannon agreed to testify publicly‚ you argued‚ sir‚ that he should have to sit for a closed-door interview‚ just like every other witness. Somehow‚ Hunter Biden‚ because he’s a Biden‚ should be held to a different standard.” Have an opinion about this article? Globalist WEF Scaremongers Dangers of Alleged AI-Generated Misinfo Before Elections

The globalist‚ anti-free speech World Economic Forum released a hypocritical and hysterical “risk report” warning of alleged “misinformation” emanating from artificial intelligence ahead of elections in multiple countries. As countries including the United States gear up for elections within the next two years‚ the World Economic Forum (WEF) classified “misinformation and disinformation” as posing the most severe short-term global risk in a hefty “global risks” report. So-called “misinformation” generated by artificial intelligence (AI) in particular could encourage “[m]istrust in elections‚” WEF scaremongered‚ “threatening democratic processes.” WEF specifically identified the 2024 U.S. election as among the top six at-risk national elections for AI-generated “misinformation‚” and praised tyrannical Communist China’s authoritarian AI regulation of “false information.” “These global control freaks never really come right out and say what is actually at risk‚ instead nebulously defining ‘global risk’ as ‘the possibility of the occurrence of an event or condition which‚ if it occurs‚ would negatively impact a significant proportion of global GDP‚ population or natural resources‚’” said MRC Free Speech America Vice President Dan Schneider. “Obviously what they really are concerned about are voices that run contrary to their left-wing narrative.” Labeling content is not sufficient to stop “violence or radicalization” surrounding elections‚ WEF announced‚ though it did not specify solutions to this alleged impending crisis. WEF did argue that the “capacity of social media companies to ensure platform integrity will likely be overwhelmed‚” indicating that the organization perceives current Big Tech censorship as insufficient. The organization clarified its anti-free speech attitude in an endnote citation reinforcing the idea that AI content moderation — i.e. censorship — is positive but insufficient. “Despite the potential benefits that AI can play in content moderation‚” WEF’s endnote explained‚ “Social media manipulation” remains a risk‚ per WEF’s NATO source. WEF’s campaign against free speech didn’t end there‚ as it advocated for government regulation of speech. The organization’s report approvingly referred to AI content regulation by the Communist Chinese government‚ which is infamous for its harsh censorship regime. According to WEF‚ “requirements in China to watermark AI-generated content may help identify false information‚ including unintentional misinformation through AI hallucinated content.” As MRC Free Speech America previously highlighted‚ China’s draft AI regulations demanded that AI reflect “socialist values.” While admitting that government regulation is unlikely to keep up with AI development‚ WEF later advocated for regulation as a potential solution. WEF urged governments to address “censorship” and “AI technologies” through “[n]ational and local regulations‚” and “AI-enabled misinformation” through “education initiatives.” The WEF talks a big game about combating so-called misinformation‚ yet‚ in the same report‚ the organization made extravagant claims about the alleged threats of human-triggered climate change‚ despite evidence to the contrary. WEF ranked these threats as top long-term global risks‚ despite evidence from recent studies and experts that man-made climate change is a low or non-existent long-term threat. For example‚ Nobel Prize-winning scientist Dr. John Clauser has assured people that there is no climate crisis. In addition‚ a 2022 study found evidence that fossil fuels were not driving global warming‚ and surface station measurements indicate that the globe is in a cooling — not warming — period. Climate Scientist to Tucker: Climate Officials ‘Misleading People’ on CO2 Emissions

With the climate-crazy legacy media touting their scare-inducing global warming headlines‚ it has become more important to advocate for truth and freedom. This is what independent journalist Tucker Carlson set about doing when he invited astrophysicist Dr. Willie Soon on The Tucker Carlson Encounter on Jan. 9. In the interview‚ Dr. Soon eviscerated U.S. and UN climate officials for the dishonesty and “nonsense” that they preach about the effects of the emission of carbon dioxide. “These people want to demonize [carbon dioxide] as some gas that can cause global warming‚” Dr. Soon explained. With Dr. Soon describing CO2 to be the “gas of life‚” the climate wackos’ attempt to remove it is absolutely insane.     Dr. Soon continued to blast this negative light‚ saying‚ “CO2 ain’t gonna cause nothing. It’s not gonna change much of the climatic system.” He asserted that the climate alarmist positions are completely fabricated and that “those few people just dream up this scary story that it just ain’t true.” Dr. Soon then criticized some of the authorities for their deception of the public. Among them were the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate and what he described as “governmental hackers.” Drawing attention to their alleged distortion of facts‚ Dr. Soon remarked: “They’ve been using the authority of science which is not true.” On the list of those reported “hackers” is Climate Envoy John Kerry. Dr. Soon described Kerry as lacking understanding of the science behind climate change. “[Kerry] I guess can barely take a proper physics class‚ claiming that the greenhouse effect is so simple‚” Dr. Soon said. He further described Kerry’s ineptitude as “embarrassing for America.” When Carlson asked if he thought Kerry could describe climate processes‚ Dr. Soon expressed serious doubts. Those doubts are warranted given that Kerry has shown to be radical in his policies‚ yet unknowing in how they will work. Dr. Soon also chastised Al Gore‚ the former vice president turned environmentalist‚ for similar incompetence. “Even Al Gore‚ who claimed to know science‚ I challenged [him].” This statement rang even more true because Gore has spouted inaccurate takes on the climate. For example‚ he claimed in 2006 that the oceans would rise by 20 feet “in the near future.”. However‚ according to estimates done by Fox News‚ such an increase would take over a thousand years.. See the full interview here: Ep. 62 If fossil fuels come from fossils‚ why have scientists found them on one of Saturn’s moons? A lot of what you’ve heard about energy is false. Biden’s Scare-the-Hell-Out-of-You Reelection Campaign

Biden’s Scare-the-Hell-Out-of-You Reelection Campaign

Joe Biden is facing an uphill reelection battle. He is desperate‚ and he should be. The world is an uglier and an uglier place under Biden. Nearly no one believes the country is moving in the right direction. Americans are deeply dissatisfied with the economy; America is experiencing an unprecedented illegal immigration crisis; and the world seems to be on fire‚ from the Middle East to Ukraine. Meanwhile‚ Biden himself is clearly ailing; as comedian Shane Gillis recently said‚ “My favorite thing about Biden is anytime Biden finishes a speech‚ he transforms into a Roomba.” This is clearly true. In fact‚ after Biden’s recent diatribe against Donald Trump at Valley Forge‚ Dr. Jill Biden — the greatest physician in all the land — charged up on the stage like a shepherd attempting to pen in a wandering sheep‚ corralling the president toward the back of the stage. So‚ what can Biden do? He can pull out all the scare tactics he knows. And that’s precisely what he’s doing‚ fully 10 months from the 2024 election. His campaign is predicated on two main issues: Trump‚ and also Trump. First‚ Biden argues‚ Donald Trump is apparently a threat to democracy. Biden stated at Valley Forge‚ “Donald Trump’s campaign is obsessed with the past‚ not the future. He’s willing to sacrifice our democracy‚ put himself in power.” He said this in the middle of a speech about the evils of Jan. 6 — while labeling Trump an insurrectionist‚ which presumably would disqualify Trump from the ballot. Biden’s own Department of Justice has hit Trump with two separate federal criminal cases‚ one in Florida‚ the other in Washington‚ D.C. It is‚ in other words‚ a tough case to make that Trump is the true threat to democracy‚ while Biden is democracy’s defender. Second‚ Biden argues‚ Donald Trump is a white supremacist. Biden stated at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston‚ South Carolina — the site of a white supremacist mass shooting in 2015 — that Trump’s election denial represented a “second lost cause‚” somehow comparable to the Southern Lost Cause narrative that portrayed the loss of the Civil War as the death of a grand and glorious way of life at the hands of perfidious Yankees. Yes‚ Biden suggested‚ Trump was akin to the Confederates. And he‚ Joe Biden‚ would stand in their way. Biden has made this case before. Against — yes‚ really — Mitt Romney. Back in 2012‚ Biden argued that Romney would put Black Americans “back in chains.” Suffice it to say that Biden has little credibility trying to breathe new life into that political corpse. Joe Biden requires Donald Trump. He needs him. But he’s still unlikely to beat him. That’s why Biden is steering so strongly to his left rather than toward the middle. At his speech in Charleston‚ pro-Hamas protesters began chanting for a ceasefire in Gaza‚ which would leave Hamas in power after the Oct. 7 massacre. Biden sheepishly replied‚ “I understand their passion‚ and I’ve been quietly working with the Israeli government to get them to reduce and significantly get out of Gaza.” Biden can’t leave any stone‚ no matter how radical‚ unturned. And that tactic will‚ in turn‚ drive away many moderate voters who are sick of the chaos the Biden era has ushered in. In short‚ Biden is re-running his 2020 campaign. There’s one big difference this time: This time‚ Joe Biden is the president. And we all know it. Ben Shapiro‚ 39‚ is a graduate of UCLA and Harvard Law School‚ host of “The Ben Shapiro Show‚” and co-founder of Daily Wire+. Here Were the Most STINGING WH Briefing Questions About the Lloyd Austin Scandal

As we’ve seen throughout the Biden administration when the liberal press choose to bring the heat during White House press briefings‚ it’s usually only good for a day or two before they fall in line. Worse yet in the case of ABC‚ CBS‚ and NBC‚ we almost never see probing questions and/or tense exchanges surface on their flagship morning and evening newscasts.  On cue‚ that happened on Tuesday in the first briefing following Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin admitting he went AWOL starting on New Year’s Day as he had colon cancer. After Kirby admitted to the AP’s Josh Boak that Biden only learned of the diagnosis on Tuesday‚ the real questions took shape‚ starting with CBS’s Nancy Cordes‚ whose questions were brutal for the Pentagon. Absolutely BRUTAL exchange for the Pentagon during the WH briefing re: the Lloyd Austin saga.... CBS's @NancyCordes: "So‚ the President has known for...five days...Secretary Austin was in the hospital but he wasn't informed why?" John Kirby: "He was not informed until last… pic.twitter.com/35g5qoyNh9 — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) January 9‚ 2024 During the back-and-forth‚ Kirby revealed the White House didn’t know about Austin’s December 22 surgery and that he was under general anesthesia (click “expand”): CORDES: So‚ the President has known for‚ I guess‚ five days now that Secretary Austin was in the hospital but he wasn't informed why? KIRBY: He was not informed until last Friday that Sec. Austin was in the hospital. He was not informed until this morning that the root cause of that hospitalization was prostate cancer. CORDES: Is that because the White House knew and didn't inform the President or because Secretary Austin chose not to share that with the President? KIRBY: Nobody at the White House knew that Secretary Austin had prostate cancer until this morning and the President was informed immediately after we were informed. (....) CORDES: We learned also today that Secretary Austin when he went into the hospital for the first time on December 22‚ he knew he was going to be under general anesthesia‚ spending the night‚ and transferred authority to his deputy secretary. Was the White House informed then that the authority was going to be transferred? KIRBY: No. CORDES: Is that what’s supposed to happen? KIRBY: There are — the delegations of authority can happen I wouldn't say on a regular basis‚ but it's not uncommon for the secretary of defense to delegate to the deputy‚ sometimes for very short periods of time. But I think one of the things we're all going to want to learn from this is the notification process for that delegation of authority. CORDES: Is there an expectation when a secretary is indisposed or hospitalized and has to transfer authority that the White House would be notified? (....) CORDES: So‚ finally‚ who does the President hold responsible for this lapse? Secretary Austin? His aides? The Chairman of Joint Chiefs‚ who — who clearly knew about this the day after the secretary was hospitalized? JEAN-PIERRE: So‚ I will say this. Secretary Austin put out a statement and he took full responsibility for this...[W]e certainly hope that he fully recovers and also gets back to the Pentagon and so‚ I'll leave it there. His statement was clear the other day. Isolated Kirby soundbites were aired‚ but none of these back-and-forths made Tuesday’s CBS Evening News or Wednesday’s CBS Mornings. ABC’s Selina Wang had more devastating questions that weren’t shown on Tuesday’s World News Tonight or Wednesday’s Good Morning America‚ starting with: “Walter Reed said that he was diagnosed with a cancer last month‚ so just to confirm‚ the President did not know the diagnosis or that he was hospitalized?” After Jean-Pierre said “no‚” Wang asked if this means there’s “a lack of trust between the Pentagon and the White House” since Austin kept this from them. Jean-Pierre demurred‚ arguing “we” still “have complete confidence in” Austin.  Wang brought Kirby back in and asked if he heard anything from his former colleagues at the Pentagon (since Kirby came to the White House from Austin’s team)‚ but Kirby punted to them. Wang continued to ask questions followed by Reuters’s Steve Holland‚ CNN’s M.J. Lee‚ and the NBC’s Gabe Gutierrez. Gutierrez’s question — with was ignored on NBC Nightly News and Today — was biting: “The President didn’t learn about this for a month after the diagnosis in early December. Just quite simply‚ does the President think that’s acceptable?” Kirby became blunt‚ saying it hasn’t been “optimal...for a situation like this to go as long as it did” and‚ in fact‚ “not the way this is supposed to happen”‚ but lessons would be learned. Gutierrez’s follow-up was met with a punt to Walter Reed doctors: “The Pentagon referred to the surgery as an elective procedure. Technically‚ it may be‚ but isn’t that‚ at best‚ misleading?” Fox’s Peter Doocy didn’t disappoint: “[W]hat kind of commander-in-chief is President Biden that‚ at a time‚ when American forces are under fire in the Middle East‚ he can go days without knowing that his Defense Secretary is in a hospital bed?” DOOCY TIME: “John‚ what kind of commander-in-chief is President Biden that‚ at a time‚ when American forces are under fire in the Middle East‚ he can go days without knowing that his Defense Secretary is in a hospital bed?” John Kirby: “Peter‚ there's a lot to your question. So‚… pic.twitter.com/CJezkcCvBh — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) January 9‚ 2024 Kirby went on a lengthy‚ rambling screed about how much the U.S. government accomplished around the holidays where Austin’s whereabouts were known‚ as if to suggest Austin’s not that important. Doocy kept pressing: “[W]hy should we believe anything that this administration tells us about anything ever again?” Kirby doubled down on previous answers‚ which was that “we all recognize and I think the Pentagon has been very‚ very honest” there were mistakes and everyone would do better. Doocy: “But‚ if the administration is going to great lengths to keep secrets about the Defense Secretary's health‚ how can anybody be certain that the administration would not go to the same lengths to keep secrets about the President's health in the future?” Kirby: “If — if you… pic.twitter.com/8Mqwpzk76M — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) January 9‚ 2024 Not satisfied‚ Doocy wondered if Team Biden wasn’t honest about a key cabinet official‚ what’s to stop them from doing this with the President’s health. That’s when things got spicy (click “expand”): DOOCY: But‚ if the administration is going to great lengths to keep secrets about the Defense Secretary's health‚ how can anybody be certain that the administration would not go to the same lengths to keep secrets about the President's health in the future?” KIRBY: If — if you could logically argue — and you can't — but if you could logically argue that the admin — DOOCY: How — KIRBY: — wait‚ wait — DOOCY: — he's 81 years old. KIRBY: — wait a second. Just give me a second here‚ bub. DOOCY: What’s — there — KIRBY: I'll get there. If — if the administration made some sort of Machiavellian effort across the board to keep this from getting public‚ then I think your question has merit and‚ certainly is a fair one. I don't think it's a fair one because that's not what happened here‚ Peter. What happened here is secretary of defense for whatever reason‚ I can't answer the question why‚ that information wasn't shared‚ wasn’t shared widely in the department‚ and it certainly wasn’t shared with the inner agencies. DOOCY: — isn’t that worse? KIRBY: It’s not. It’s not good. It’s certainly good‚ which is why‚ again‚ we want to learn from this. We want to — we want to make sure that it doesn't happen again. A few minutes after questions from Doocy’s Fox colleague Jared Halpern‚ The New York Times’s Peter Baker brought about a stunning “no” when he asked whether the White House knew about the original December 22 when Austin went under. One final exchange of note from Tuesday was Real Clear Politics’s Philip Wegmann‚ who brought up any concerns about whether Biden “believe[s] that there ought to be any consequences for any DoD officials who knew about the condition of Sec. Austin‚ but did not report that information to the White House.” When Kirby demurred‚ Wegmann pushed back by reminding him that it matters since this isn’t the White House’s Defense Department‚ but the American people’s Defense Department. Sure enough‚ the Austin questions on Wednesday were more tame and absolving of the White House. However‚ Jeff Mordock of The Washington Times went against the grain by wondering how was Austin able to “disappear for four days without anybody noticing‚ or really even seeming to wonder where he is‚ how essential is he.” .@WashTimes’s @JeffMordock: “And then one question on General Austin. Earlier in this briefing‚ you said he's an essential member of the administration‚ but if he can disappear for four days without anybody noticing‚ or really even seeming to wonder where he is‚ how essential is… pic.twitter.com/wPV1tM61DC — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) January 10‚ 2024 Kirby doubled back to his lengthy answer to Doocy‚ reiterating “military operations” were able to be “conducted” with Austin having only been part of the early planning‚ showing it’s “not uncommon on any given day here in D.C. that a Cabinet officer isn’t present for a certain meeting and either can call in by phone or have a deputy represent ‘em.” To see the relevant briefing transcripts (which include questions about other salient topics to NewsBusters readers)‚ click here (for December 9) and here (for December 10).

'You have no balls': Hunter Biden abruptly leaves contempt hearing after Nancy Mace confronts him directly

Chaos erupted on Capitol Hill when Hunter Biden made a surprise visit to a House Oversight Committee hearing. The committee met on Wednesday for markup of a resolution to hold Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress for ignoring congressional subpoenas last month. It was after Chairman James Comer (R) delivered his opening remarks that Hunter walked into the hearing room with two of his attorneys‚ Abbe Lowell and Kevin Morris.Hunter's unscheduled appearance prompted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) to ask Comer to recite the committee rules that prevented Hunter from immediately testifying. And then Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) had her opportunity to speak."My first question is: Who bribed Hunter Biden to be here today?" she began before addressing Hunter directly."You are the epitome of white privilege coming into the Oversight Committee‚ spitting in our face‚ ignoring a congressional subpoena to be deposed‚" she said. "What are you afraid of? You have no balls to come up here." UNTHINKABLE MOMENT: All Hell Breaks Loose As Nancy Mace Mercilessly Insults Hunter Biden To His Face www.youtube.com Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) immediately interrupted Mace and demanded that Comer hold a vote to allow Hunter to testify‚ which would have violated committee rules."Are women allowed to speak in here‚ or no?" Mace shot back as several lawmakers talked over one another. "I think that Hunter Biden should be arrested right here‚ right now‚ and go straight to jail. Our nation is founded on the rule of law and the premise that the law applies equally to everyone no matter what your last name is."After decorum was restored‚ Mace was permitted to finish her speech. She concluded by telling Hunter‚ "You play stupid games‚ you win stupid prizes."Hunter then abruptly left the hearing when Greene was recognized to speak after Moskowitz spent five minutes defending Hunter and slamming Comer. After leaving the hearing room‚ Lowell spoke briefly with the media and accused Republicans without evidence of being motivated by "improper partisan motives" in their investigation into allegations of Biden family corruption. Lowell also accused Republicans of being "afraid" to hear from Hunter‚ which isn't true. The House Oversight and Judiciary Committee issued subpoenas — thus showing their desire to hear from Hunter on the record — but the first son‚ of course‚ defied those lawful requests. It's not clear exactly why Hunter decided to show up at Wednesday's hearing. Republicans undoubtedly feel that Hunter meant to taunt them‚ which is how many they felt last month when he appeared on the Senate side of the Capitol during the scheduled time for the deposition that he ignored. If the House committees pass contempt resolutions‚ they will then go to the full House for a vote. If the House votes to hold Hunter in contempt‚ the matter will be referred to the U.S. attorney’soffice. The Justice Department‚ then‚ will have the final say whether Hunter is prosecuted for contempt. Like Blaze News?
