Charlie Kirk pledges to Glenn Beck to seek full pardon for Blaze News investigative journalist Steve Baker, others

Charlie Kirk, the founder and CEO of Turning Point USA, told Blaze Media co-founder Glenn Beck that he would seek to obtain a full pardon for Blaze News investigative journalist Steve Baker. Kirk made the comments while calling in on Beck's radio show Friday. 'Every nonviolent Jan. 6 offender, I'm gonna push — and President Trump has pledged — to give them full and complete pardons.' "The lawfare stuff is not completely over, and I will say this, as somebody who is helping out with transition, I'm doing everything we possibly can, that the most important appointment that is coming, is who [President-elect Donald Trump] will choose for attorney general of the United States. That right there will set the tone for the entire presidency from lawfare, from the investigations, from the weaponization of the FBI," Kirk said. "And also Glenn, I will push, with every fiber of my being, for your Blaze journalist to get a full pardon, and this entire show-trial of him to get dropped," he added. "Thank you," Beck responded. "It is craziness. Thank you." "It is crazy. And I can't remember his name, but he is phenomenal." "Steve Baker," Beck said. Baker has been hounded by the Department of Justice for trespassing and other charges related to his reporting of the rioting of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 after the 2020 election. He has pleaded not guilty and argues that other journalists and photographers have not been prosecuted as he has. Kirk went on to explain other steps Trump could take to undermine the deep state in the government. "And by the way, every nonviolent Jan. 6 offender, I'm gonna push — and President Trump has pledged — to give them full and complete pardons and commute their sentences, on the nonviolent ones," he said. "I think that's a huge statement and a demoralization event for the deep state that's spent so much of their time and their careers going after everyday Americans who did absolutely nothing wrong," Kirk continued. "And I think we have to lead with that. I think we have to push for hundreds of pardons. And I know that sounds extreme." He went on to opine that the founders would have been pleased at this use of the pardon power they wrote into the Constitution for the executive branch of the government. In response to Kirk's pledge, Baker told Blaze News: "I’m honored and grateful that Charlie remembers my case, and any help he can provide to myself and the other nonviolent J6 defendants in bringing this political lawfare to a final conclusion is greatly appreciated by all of us." Baker's case is set to go to trial on Nov. 12. Here's more about the lawfare against Blaze Media journalist Steve Baker: Like Blaze News? EU signals desperation to avoid trade war with Trump, desire to buy American gas

President-elect Donald Trump is still months away from taking office, yet the European Union already appears desperate to cut a deal with him. Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, addressed members of the European Council in Budapest, Hungary, Friday, signaling a desire to avoid a trade war with the United States and to switch from Russian to American gas. When asked how she intends to negotiate with Trump on trade, Leyen answered, "I think first of all: Engage. Very important what we have started yesterday." Leyen was referencing her phone call with Trump Thursday, where she apparently congratulated him on his landslide electoral victory. The German politician noted on X that they discussed defense, Ukraine, trade, and energy. "Secondly, discuss about common interests. And there are common interests that we have," continued Leyen. "Then go into negotiations." 'They are going to have to pay a big price.' Leyen said that liquid natural gas was among the common interests she briefly discussed with Trump this week, noting that Europe still gets "a lot of LNG via Russia, from Russia." According to the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis, in the first half of 2024, Europe sourced 48% of its LNG imports from U.S., 16% from Russia, 11% from Algeria, 10% from Qatar, and 4% from Nigeria and Norway. "Why not replace it by American LNG, which is cheaper for us and brings down our energy prices?" said Leyen. "It's something where we can get into a discussion, also [where] our trade deficit is concerned." The U.S. Census Bureau indicated Tuesday that the trade deficit with the EU in September was $23.8 billion, contributing to the year-to-date trade deficit of $173 billion. Trump indicated in October that the EU would have to "pay a big price" for not buying enough American exports, reported Reuters. "I'll tell you what, the European Union sounds so nice, so lovely, right? All the nice European little countries that get together," said Trump. "They don't take our cars. They don't take our farm products. They sell millions and millions of cars in the United States. No, no, no, they are going to have to pay a big price." Politico noted that Leyen's maneuver to dodge the steep tariffs of 10% or more that Trump has threatened by promising to buy LNG is largely political theater granted the European Commission is virtually powerless when it comes to dictating European companies' purchases of gas. "The EU doesn't buy LNG — there's a global LNG market and LNG buyers have their own contract," Laurent Ruseckas, executive director for gas markets at commodities giant S&P Global, told Politico. "It's certainly possible to do a memorandum of understanding to talk about increasing purchases but ultimately in the past that's been a way to put a political wrapper around something that was delivered by the market. And the EU is buying as much LNG currently as the market needs." Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

Trump's win already shrinks thousands-strong migrant caravan

Donald Trump's Tuesday presidential victory against Vice President Kamala Harris is already having a positive impact on illegal immigration, even months before his official inauguration. In October, Blaze News reported that thousands of foreign nationals were making their way through Mexico, hoping to cross into the United States before an administration change. 'They're already self-pre-deporting. WE ARE SO BACK!!!'At the time, Luis Garcia Villagran, director of the Tapachula-based Center for Human Dignity, told a local news outlet, "As we speak, 40,000 to 45,000 migrants, 30% from the Middle East and Africa, are stuck and trying to leave for the United States before the end of the year."On Thursday, Reuters reported that a 3,000-strong caravan headed toward the U.S.-Mexico border had shrunk by nearly half after Trump clinched the presidency. Trump has vowed to make curbing illegal immigration one of his highest priorities, pledging mass deportation efforts. According to Reuters, after hearing about Trump's victory, many of those in the caravan "felt less hopeful about their chance at a new life in the United States."Valerie Andrade, a Venezuelan national, told the news outlet, "I had hoped [Kamala Harris] would win, but that didn't happen."Others who remained in the caravan stated that they hope the Biden-Harris administration's CBP One app will allow them to book an asylum appointment at the border before Trump is inaugurated. During a Monday rally in Raleigh, North Carolina, Trump sent a message to Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum."I'm going to inform [Mexico's president] on day one or sooner that if they don't stop this onslaught of criminals and drugs coming into our country, I'm going to immediately impose a 25% tariff on everything they send into the United States of America," Trump told his supporters."If that doesn't work," he continued, "I'll make it 50%; if that doesn't work, I'll make it 75%. Then I'll make it 100%."Real America's Voice correspondent Oscar Ramirez noted that since Trump's win, the Mexican government has taken a more proactive role in deterring migrants from heading to the U.S. border. He added that he still anticipates there will be an increase in illegal immigration in the final months of Joe Biden's presidency as foreign nationals try to enter before Trump gets into office. Donald Trump Jr. reacted to the news that the massive caravan had dropped to roughly 1,600 individuals. "They're already self-pre-deporting. WE ARE SO BACK!!!" he wrote on X. Like Blaze News?
