North Carolina Supplies Republicans Plus-6 in US House

THE CENTER SQUARE—Republicans got a plus-6 boost from North Carolina on Tuesday in a bid to remain the majority party of the U.S. House of Representatives. Previously an even split among 14 seats, the Grand Old Party couldn’t pull the upset in the 1st Congressional District but rolled to victories as expected in 10 other races. Democratic U.S. Rep. Don Davis won a second term, beating Republican Laurie Buckhout, in the northeastern part of the state in the only truly competitive race. With 281 of 281 precincts reporting in the district, Davis prevailed by 4,065 votes—49.25%-48.06%—of more than 343,000 votes cast. Buckhout, a retired Army colonel, was trying to be the first Republican to win an election representing the northeastern part of the state since 1882. Incumbent Democratic Reps. Deborah Ross in the 2nd, Valerie Foushee in the 4th, and Alma Adams in the 12th also secured reelection. Republicans returning to Washington are Reps. Greg Murphy (3rd), Virginia Foxx (5th), David Rouzer (7th), Richard Hudson (9th), and Chuck Edwards (11th). Newcomers are Addison McDowell (6th), Rev. Mark Harris (8th), Pat Harrigan (10th), Brad Knott (13th), and record-setting state House Speaker Tim Moore. “Tonight is a great night for conservatives looking for conservative solutions to the difficult, serious problems the Biden-Harris administration has placed on the American people,” Knott said in a statement. “Whether the open border, runaway spending, intrusive regulations from Washington, etc.—we need conservatives to stand strong and fight for real solutions in Congress. I look forward to being just that.” Numbers by the districts, with 100% of precincts reporting: • U.S. House District 1: Davis defeated Buckhout 49.5%-47.9%. Libertarian Tom Bailey earned 2.6%. • U.S. House District 2: Ross (66.2%) led Republican Alan Swain (31.7%) and Green Party’s Michael Dublin (2.1%). • U.S. House District 3: Murphy (77.5%) defeated Libertarian Gheorghe Cormos 22.5%. • U.S. House District 4: Foushee defeated Republican Eric Blankenburg 71.8%-26.2%. Libertarian Guy Meilleur (2%) was also on the ballot. • U.S. House District 5: Foxx defeated Democrat Chuck Hubbard 59.5%-40.5%. • U.S. House District 6: McDowell defeated Constitution Party’s Kevin Hayes 69.2%-30.8%. • U.S. House District 7: Rouzer defeated Democrat Marlando Pridgen 58.7%-41.3%. • U.S. House District 8: Harris defeated Democrat Justin Dues 59.7%-40.3%. Harris was an Election Day winner in 2018 in what became a notorious ballot harvesting scandal, with his win never certified. He chose not to run in the redo of 2019. • U.S. House District 9: Hudson defeated Democrat Nigel Bristow 56.4%-37.7%. Shelane Etchison, an unaffiliated registrant, got 5.9% of the vote. • U.S. House District 10: Harrigan led Democrat Ralph Scott Jr. 57.7%-38%. Libertarian Steve Feldman got 2.8% and the Constitution Party’s Todd Helm 1.4%. • U.S. House District 11: Edwards defeated Democrat Caleb Rudow 56.8%-43.2%. • U.S. House District 12: Adams won over Republican Addul Ali 74%-26%. • U.S. House District 13: Knott, survivor of a 14-candidate primary, turned back Democrat Frank Pierce 58.7%-41.3%. • U.S. House District 14: Moore defeated Democrat Pam Genant 58.2%-41.9%. Medicinal Uses For Weeds Commonly Found Around Your Home – Part 3

In Medicinal Uses For Weeds Commonly Found Around Your Home – Part 1, I went over the medicinal properties of three extremely beneficial wild plants: purslane, ground ivy, and chickweed. In Medicinal Uses For Weeds Commonly Found Around Your Home – Part 2, I went over the medicinal properties of four additional beneficial wild plants: thistle, wild violet, hairy bitterness, and prickly lettuce. Medicinal Uses For Weeds What all these wild plants have in common is that they can be found around your home. The list doesn’t stop there. Today, I’ll go over the medicinal properties for four more wild plants that can be found around your home: lamb’s quarters, mallow, stinging nettles, and chicory. Word of caution… As I did in part one and two, I would like to share with you two articles which include information on safety precautions you need to be aware of when foraging for wild, edible, plants. In my article, Foraging Tips for the 7 Most Common Edible Plants, I share great tips on things to consider and to look out for when you forage for any and all wild, edible plants. Another great article, “Need To Know” Rules When Picking Edible & Medicinal Plants, is written by Mykel Hawke, star of Discovery’s “Man, Woman, Wild”. He also talks about considerations and safety precautions to take when foraging in the wild. I sincerely encourage you to read these articles if you have never foraged for wild and edible plants. Foraging can be a great experience but, safety precautions are a must! Let’s get started! 1. Lamb’s Quarters (Chenopodium album) Lamb’s quarters, also known as goosefoot, is an extremely nutritious wild green. The leaves are light green in color and resemble the shape of a goose foot. The under side of the leaves are powdery. Lamb’s quarters are rich in potassium, protein, phosphorus, and vitamin A. Tea can be made with the leaves and can aid in stomach upset and digestion problems. The tiny yellowish, greenish blooms become seeds, which are gluten free. The seeds can be used in salads, soups, and can even be a replacement for wheat flour. The seeds are recommended to be soaked for 7-8 hours before use. There is a toxic look alike called ‘hairy nightshade’ which does not have a powdery under side but instead is hairy or fuzzy. The blooms are much larger than the blooms of lamb’s quarters and are white as opposed to the yellowish or greenish blooms of lamb’s quarters. 2. Mallow (Malva) Mallow can be found all over the world and is highly nutritious. The entire plant (including the roots) is edible. This wild plant can be eaten fresh, dried, or powdered. Powered mallow is a great addition to smoothies. This wild plant can also be used as a thickening agent for soups. The leaves can be made into a tea which is beneficial in digestive health. When the tea cools it turns into a gel like substance which people use to soothe various irritations caused by sore throats, sinus problems, bronchitis, emphysema, asthma, bladder problems, digestive issues, and kidney disorders. The gel like substance is used to increase milk production when nursing and can also be applied to your skin which will make it extremely soft. 3. Stinging Nettle (Urtica dioica) The entire plant is edible. It is recommended that you wear gloves when harvesting this wild plant because of the jagged edges on the leaves. The leaves are in pairs opposite each other on the stem. Also, seeds are in between the layers of leaves.  ‘Hairs’ line one side of each leaf and that is reason behind the name ‘stinging nettles’. When eaten raw, our saliva will neutralize any ‘stinging’. To eat raw, it is recommended to roll up the leaves with the hair on the inside. If you experience any ‘stinging’, not to worry. Again, the entire plant is safe. In addition to eating this plant raw, stinging nettles can also be boiled, dried to make tea, and makes a great addition to soups. Stinging nettles are rich in vitamin A, vitamin B2, vitamin C, vitamin D, and vitamin K. Stinging nettles are also loaded with minerals such as calcium, iron, potassium, and iodine. Nutrients such antioxidants, chlorophyll, and amino acids can also be added to the list as well. It’s no wonder that this plant is called one of nature’s super foods! This wild plant is used to treat a number of ailments such as urinary tract infections, joint inflammation, kidney stones, allergies, and hay fever. It also strengthens the immune system, lowers blood sugar, and regulates the thyroid. 4. Chicory (Cichorium intybus) Chicory, sometimes referred to as ‘wild lettuce’, will have tall, straight stems growing upward from leaves that resemble the leaves of the dandelion. The blooms are a purplish blue color and the petals are thin and tipped. The entire plant is edible. The roots of this wild plant can be roasted and ground and used as a substitute for coffee. The ground roots are a great source of fiber. You can also use the greens, blooms, and buds in a salad. The plant has a slightly bitter taste. The chicory plant acts as a diuretic, sedative, and a laxative. It is great for heart health, lowers blood sugar, and is used to treat liver conditions. It also acts as an antibacterial and an anti-inflammatory. What weeds commonly found around your home do you use for medicinal purposes? Tell us in the comment section below. 'Get Your Tubes Tied': This TikToker is Boycotting Procreation to Protest Trump

A number of screeching feminists are taking to social media, announcing they’re going to protest the re-election of President Donald Trump by… refusing to procreate. Hey, sounds like a great idea to me! “The first thing you’re gonna do is you’re gonna delete your period tracking app,” instructed one scowling woman during an apocalyptic strategic plan she broadcasted to her followers. ? ? crazy. This tiktoker warns women to delete period tracker apps, not get married, divorce their husbands if they voted for Trump, and have a plan of action in place. They’re serious about this. This is what media brainwashing looks like. It’s actually very sad. pic.twitter.com/yzEkHAMwQJ — Libs of TikTok (@libsoftiktok) November 7, 2024 Next, she instructed viewers to get their Plan B even “if you don’t need it right now,” in addition to following a newsletter published by a baby-killing enthusiast, titled “Abortion Everyday.” “She is a godsend. I don’t know how she does it,” praised the alarmist. (Well for starters, deleting your conscience helps!) Then, “You’re gonna get your tubes tied!” instructed the TikToker. “I don’t care if you’re not sexually active right now,” she said.  “Because, guess what. That doesn’t mean you’re not gonna get pregnant,” she confidently warned. God knows how SHE thinks babies are made.  “My advice for your safety is to not get pregnant right now,” continued the wacko.  “It doesn’t matter that a pro-life presidency will keep babies safer over the next 4 years than they were under the rule of the abortionist Biden Administration.  “I’m not gonna get pregnant right now, even though I would love to have a family one day,” the TikToker announced. “That dream just went out the window,” she asserted.  I’ll take that as a win-win! She also warned everyone to dump their boyfriends, if they dared to vote for the boogeyman-elect and to never get married (which likely won’t be a problem for her). “I’m not trying to get you to panic,” she insisted, after fear-mongering for 5 minutes. “I know that I’m speaking to you very fervently, but I’m just being very real,” she added, describing the rant to her camera as a “heart to heart” conversation.

LOL: CNN Says Trump Won Because The Left Doesn't Have a 'Media Ecosystem'

The late night comedy shows may not have been very funny after Donald Trump’s election victory, but the Wednesday edition of CNN’s Inside Politics was as PBS News Hour White House correspondent Laura Barron-Lopez got the panel to agree that one reason Kamala Harris lost is that, unlike Trump, she did not have a “media ecosystem” to help her get across the finish line. Barron-Lopez desperately wanted to avoid the conclusion that Democrats need a reboot, “One thing that I think stands out also, we can't have this conversation, a little bit to your point, Dana, is that maybe it's not so much Democrats’ policies or messaging or the words they used specifically, but there is an entire right-wing media ecosystem that doesn’t exist on the left and it does not exist in the center or mainstream and people are getting their information in very different ways now.”     As she was speaking, Barron-Lopez’s fellow panelists, including John King of “Donald Trump tries to intimidate people, he bullies people, he tries to scare you away. That was Jack Smith with no words and a simple $5 sub in his hand saying ‘I'm not going anywhere’” fame, all chimed in heavy amounts of “yes.” Barron-Lopez rolled on, “And Donald Trump and Republicans and Elon Musk and Joe Rogan, know exactly how to reach Americans where they are regardless of age and demographic, and that played a big role in this because of the fact that, like, whether it was disinformation, misinformation or different propaganda, that they were feeding to the American public, that made them feel the way they did, and the American public felt as though—that they were being heard by Donald Trump.” Kamala Harris and Tim Walz’s media strategy consisted of interviews with Call Her Daddy, Stephen Colbert, Saturday Night Live, Jimmy Kimmel, The Daily Show, The Breakfast Club, and MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle. If that isn’t a left-wing ecosystem, then what is? Additionally, Inside Politics host Dana Bash may not want to view herself as part of a left-wing ecosystem, but she is. Outside of Harris and Walz’s media appearances, Barron-Lopez herself is one of the most biased reporters in the media at an outlet bankrolled by Uncle Sam. Of all the reasons Harris lost, the lack of a left-wing echo chamber isn’t one of them. Here is a transcript for the November 7 show: CNN Inside Politics with Dana Bash 11/7/2024 12:31 PM ET LAURA BARRON-LOPEZ: One thing that I think stands out also, we can't have this conversation, a little bit to your point, Dana, is that maybe it's not so much Democrats’ policies or messaging or the words they used specifically, but there is an entire right-wing media ecosystem— JOHN KING: Yes. DANA BASH: Oh, Yes. KING: Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. BARRON-LOPEZ: -- that doesn’t exist on the left and it does not exist in the center or mainstream and people are getting their information in very different ways now. And Donald Trump and Republicans and Elon Musk and Joe Rogan, know exactly how to reach Americans where they are regardless of age and demographic, and that played a big role in this because of the fact that, like, whether it was disinformation, misinformation or different propaganda, that they were feeding to the American public, that made them feel the way they did, and the American public felt as though — that they were being heard by Donald Trump.

DEI gave us Kamala Harris — the doctors it produces may be even worse

DEI gave us Kamala Harris — the doctors it produces may be even worse

We've had mediocre presidential candidates before, elevated beyond their ability thanks to money, connections, or their family name. Kamala Harris is the first one to make it to the top explicitly because of her race and sex. As such, she's the living embodiment of DEI.If Donald Trump defeats her, it will certainly strike a potent blow against this poisonous ideology. But Harris is merely the most high-profile beneficiary. Our institutions are already so captured by DEI that American lives are at stake. Is a white man’s life worth less than a black woman’s? Through DEI’s oppressor-victim hierarchy, the answer is unequivocally yes. Any serious attempt to undo the damage of a decade's worth of anti-meritocratic policies must begin in our medical schoolsIll communicationA recent report from the medical watchdog organization Do No Harm makes for a sobering read. American medical schools are prioritizing political agendas over essential health care education, with potentially dire consequences. Titled “Activism Instead of Anatomy,” the report claims that diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives are overshadowing traditional scientific and medical training at institutions nationwide. At the heart of the problem lies a clear departure from rigorous scientific training toward ideologically driven content. Medical students are now being subjected to courses that prioritize social and political goals over traditional medical knowledge. This includes an increased emphasis on identity politics and social theories that have little to do with developing the skills and knowledge essential for competent medical practice. This shift is eroding the essential knowledge needed for effective patient care. Moreover, this shift comes amid declining public trust in the medical establishment, which, rather than rebuilding confidence, seems intent on pushing Americans away — or into an early grave.Rigor mortisOne of the report’s most alarming findings is the diversion of crucial time and resources away from core medical training. Medical curricula are already demanding, yet DEI-focused coursework consumes hours that should be dedicated to vital subjects like anatomy, pathology, and pharmacology. Essentially, the rigor of medical education is being diluted, leaving future physicians less prepared for real-world challenges.Beyond replacing essential training, this ideological shift raises serious ethical concerns. Students are pressured to adopt a specific worldview, with dissent risking punishment (more on this later). Ironically, in the name of inclusivity, medical schools are stifling intellectual diversity. Training doctors to view patients primarily through an identity-based lens fosters division and undermines the principle of treating individuals as individuals. Is a white man’s life worth less than a black woman’s? Through DEI’s oppressor-victim hierarchy, the answer is unequivocally yes. White privilege has never looked so distinctly dangerous. This is not hyperbole. When identity politics and political correctness dominate medical training, there is a tangible risk of professionals prioritizing ideological considerations over evidence-based care. For example, as the report notes, the fixation on “correct” language and politically charged issues like transgender health care has, in some cases, overshadowed the need for solid, patient-centric approaches. While culturally competent care is essential, it should not replace scientifically sound medical practice but complement it.Doctor FeelbadThis ideological push in medical schools risks seeping into the broader health care system. When doctors-in-training are taught to prioritize identity markers and politically charged agendas over clinical facts, this mindset can infiltrate hospitals and influence health care policies, compromising every single aspect of patient care. The obsessive focus on DEI initiatives often sidelines efficiency and merit-based advancement, ultimately affecting patient outcomes.Remember, DEI agendas come at the cost of meritocracy. As a result, medical schools are not only admitting objectively less qualified students, but they are also producing objectively less competent doctors compared to just a few generations ago.DEI is genuinely destructive, posing existential risks in critical areas. In truth, it's a matter of life and death, with significantly higher amounts of the latter, if the report is to be believed. What we’re witnessing here is the professionalization of grievance and the prioritization of activism over expertise. Medical schools, once places of necessary knowledge and innovation, have transformed into training grounds for the next generation of political activists. The lunatics really are running the asylum. Worse yet, much of the DEI narrative rests on a shaky foundation. Or, to be more accurate, no foundation at all. Stage 4 racismRecently, Dr. Kendall Conger, a former emergency physician at Duke University Health System, was terminated for questioning the claim that racism is a "public health crisis."When Conger requested data to support this assertion, none was provided. Instead of engaging in dialogue, the institution punished him for raising a legitimate concern. This reaction reveals the hostile environment that sane medical professionals now face, where challenging the narrative leads not to discussion but to retribution. Cancel culture still exists. Common sense? Well, not so much. The report’s conclusion is clear. Medical schools must resist this ideological encroachment and refocus on their primary mission: Equipping future doctors with the skills and knowledge to save lives and improve patient outcomes. Yet, the damage seems done. Curricula take years to develop and implement. Even if the entire DEI agenda were addressed logically today, it would take years to return to the basics. In the meantime, more doctors will graduate, and more Americans will pay the ultimate price — with their lives.

Pastor ignites backlash by shaming black Trump supporters as 'ignorant stupid Negroes,' says Trump will make them slaves

An Alabama pastor has ignited backlash by demeaning black Trump supporters as "ignorant stupid Negroes" and hinting that former President Donald Trump will make them slaves when he gets back into the White House. Pastor Michael R. Jordan of the New Era Baptist Church in Birmingham posted the incendiary messages on the church's sign. Jordan plans to leave the message up outside his church through the inauguration.Jordan had the following message on the church's sign: “Warning African Americans: A vote for Trump will put blacks back to picking cotton.”The other side of the sign reads: “Attention to all blacks who plan to vote for Trump: You are an ignorant stupid Negro.”The controversial sign sparked outrage. Alabama's Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth — a Republican — said of the sign, "Churches are supposed to spread the Gospel, offer messages of God’s love, and share the life of Christ, not threaten, intimidate, and insult those who exercise their right to vote and support the candidate that is best for them. Those responsible for this sign should be ashamed."When Jordan was asked if his controversial style might hurt his church, he told WVTM-TV, “No, they know point-blank it's an ear-catcher.” Jordan added, "He's thinking from a Republican point of view. Donald Trump is making sad, pitiful negative statements about people every day."Jordan plans to leave the message up outside his church through the inauguration.During his 32-year tenure at the New Era Baptist Church, the pastor has had a history of making inflammatory statements on his church's sign. In 2019, he displayed a sign that read: “A white vote for Trump is pure racism.” Alabama.com noted that Jordan attacked the Church of the Highlands in 2018 for planning to launch a church in a predominantly black neighborhood by calling it a “slavemaster” church. In 2017, he posted a message that said: “Trump deceived poor white folks.”In 2004, Jordan's church had a sign that read: “AIDS is God’s curse on homosexuals.”According to the Christian Post, Jordan said, “This is my ministry. This is my calling. Pastor, white or black, is a watchman. I’m going to take a stand.”Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Harris campaign reportedly in steep debt, still asking for donations after spending $1 billion to lose election

The failed Harris-Walz campaign is facing some difficult questions about how it spent more than a billion dollars in campaign donations after reportedly ending with $20 million in debt. Many pundits saw the historic donations to the Harris campaign as a sign that the vice president was heading for victory, but President-elect Donald Trump easily won the election while being outspent. According to sources who spoke to Politico California bureau chief Christopher Cadelago, the campaign ended up at least $20 million in debt despite raising and spending more than $1 billion. An email from the campaign claimed that it was still keeping "organizers and volunteers on the ground" in those states "with key Senate and House races still too close to call" and asked for more money from donors. A separate report from Puck News said that the campaign was selling its email list in order to help pay the massive debt. Breitbart News said a campaign staffer confirmed that Harris deputy campaign manager Rob Flaherty was "currently shopping around the Kamala fundraising email list to anyone who wants it to try to raise the money back." That report claims that the campaign blew through the massive pool of cash by paying for lavish campaign events with celebrities and pop singers instead of putting that money into marketing that could have helped Harris win. According to the New York Times, the Harris campaign spent into "six figures" to fly banners over NFL games, while the Guardian reported that the campaign spent $450,000 per day to have ads on the Las Vegas Sphere in Nevada. Trump was declared the winner of the election early Wednesday morning just hours after most polls closed. Like Blaze News? Did 'The Joe Rogan Experience’ help Trump win? Elon Musk thinks so

Podcasts have largely overtaken the mainstream media and television in general as a source of not only America’s entertainment but its news and information. And as the Biden-Harris administration appeared to collaborate with the mainstream media, as well as social media, to censor information, those podcasts became even more important to those Americans who tuned in. Elon Musk is well aware that this played a major role in Donald Trump’s second election. “I think it made a big difference that President Trump and soon to be Vice President Vance went on lengthy podcasts,” Musk told Tucker Carlson in a recent post-election interview. “This really makes a difference, because you know, people look at Joe Rogan’s podcast, which is great, and Lex Fridman’s and the "All-In Podcast," and you know, to a reasonable-minded smart person who’s not hard-core one way or the other, they just listen to someone talk for a few hours and that’s how they decide whether you’re a good person, whether they like you,” he continued. However, not everyone is built for a long-form podcast — which is one reason Kamala might have lost.“Nothing would do more damage to Kamala’s campaign than going on Joe Rogan, because she’d run out of non-sequiturs after about 45 minutes,” Musk told Tucker, laughing. “You can’t hide in three hours,” Tucker agreed. “Yeah, hour two and three would be a complete melted puddle of nonsense, it would just be absolutely game over,” Musk added, noting that the opposite is why Trump did so well. “Trump, on the other hand,” Elon began, “there’s no talking points. He’s just being a normal person. He’s having a conversation.” After Trump secured the popular vote, it’s obvious that most Americans feel the same way — though some Americans are losing their minds over the results. “We all know people that are still brainwashed,” Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” comments after watching the clip of Elon and Tucker. “The reason they are upset is because there has been a system in place that told them that Hitler is about to take over again.” “That is so sad and unfortunate and is going to take mass deprogramming, not so that they can believe everything we believe, but so that they can be deprogrammed from a machine that has taught them all of the wrong things and to hate all of the wrong people,” he adds.
