Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel literally cried on Wednesday over Donald Trump winning the 2024 election, claiming it was a “terrible day” for all Americans, even for those who voted for Trump. Kimmel, along with other late-night hosts, is an ardent anti-Trumper who routinely mocks the former, and future, president in mean-spirited monologues and sketches. “It was a terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hard-working immigrants who make this country g0, for health care, for our climate, for science, for journalism, for justice, for free speech,” Kimmel said through tears to his liberal audience in Hollywood. “I’ve been trying to come up with something positive, the best I can come up with is we’ve been through this once before and yes this time it’s probably gonna be worse, maybe a lot worse,” Kimmel amped up the dramatics. The host went on to take some not-so-subtle shots at Trump’s supporters, too, like suggesting they lack “common sense” and are ignorant or stupid. President Joe Biden looked relieved while addressing the nation on Thursday following President-elect Donald Trump’s dominant victory over Vice President Kamala Harris this week. Biden’s remarks from the White House were his first public comments since Tuesday’s election. “For over 200 years, America has carried on the greatest experiment in self-government in the history of the world,” Biden said. “That’s not hyperbole, that’s a fact.” Biden said he had already spoken to Trump and congratulated him on his victory. “I assured him that I direct my entire administration to work with his team to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition,” Biden said, later adding: “On January 20, we’ll have a peaceful transfer of power here in America.” Biden called for Americans to stop seeing each other as adversaries but as fellow Americans — remarks that come just days after he called tens of millions of Trump supporters “garbage.” The 46th president said that the election results proved that America’s election systems were honest, fair, and transparent. Democratic strategist James Carville said that he has descended into a “very, very dark tunnel” in the aftermath of Tuesday’s presidential election, suggesting that the American people were, at best, too gullible — and at worst, too stupid — to see through the “s***” and vote against former President Donald Trump. Carville made the comments in a video published for Politicon on Thursday, and he argued that Vice President Kamala Harris had “every advantage” — from campaign cash and celebrity endorsements to vocal support from popular former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton — but that at the end of the day, it had simply not been enough to get her across the finish line. Former late-night host Jay Leno said he was happy with the overall process of the 2024 presidential election even though he’s not a Donald Trump supporter. “The Talk” host Natalie Morales asked Leno to share his thoughts Wednesday, saying, “We had a historic election last night and you are no stranger to going on and doing a live show, ‘The Tonight Show,’ after big elections like this. What do you remember about those days?” “Well, you know it was different. In my day, you kind of made fun of both sides…now you kind of have to take a side and yeah, it’s a little bit different,” Leno replied. He added, “But the nice thing about this election is, it was fair, it was honest. Okay, I was not a fan, but that’s okay. It’s the President of the United States. Let’s all get together. Thank you very much.” Leno said he believes now is a time for unity.  “You know my fear is…and it’s going to be name calling. There was no cheating. Everybody says it was honest. It’s a great day for democracy.” This was similar to the former “Tonight Show” host’s comments in January. At the time, he told Piers Morgan, “I just stopped doing politics in my act all together. You know, when I did ‘The Tonight Show,’ the idea was you made fun of both sides equally…they’d both be angry. The cells of Willa, a ferret frozen in 1988, were integral to the creation of the three sisters. There are only seven wild black-footed ferrets. All other living ferrets are their direct descendants except the three clones. Scientists can reintroduce genetic variations within the population through the cloning process. This creates greater diversity that is important for the species’ survival. With the birth of her twins, Antonia is paving the way for reintroducing the species into the wild. While that will be in the future, science is hopeful about the twins’ birth. As one of North America’s most endangered mammals, they were once considered extinct.
