EXCLUSIVE: Seven Undecided Pennsylvania Voters Say What’s Driving Their Decision

Polling has consistently shown former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris locked in a dead heat in Pennsylvania — and the results of a recently-convened focus group shared exclusively with The Daily Wire suggest the Keystone State is still very much up for grabs. The political analytics firm Cygnal gathered seven undecided Pennsylvania voters from Erie and Northampton Counties, which have gone for the winner of every presidential election since 2008. While voters largely agreed with Trump’s policy proposals, they were put off by his personality. However, the participants also dinged Harris for “flip-flopping,” and even those who are leaning towards the Democrat said they were put off by her aggressive focus on abortion. With polls showing Trump and Harris essentially tied going into election week, the winner of this key swing state may come down to which candidate can make a direct, relatable pitch to Pennsylvanians. “They’re both kind of touring with celebrities and making it all about them,” said Tiffany, a Republican between the ages of 30 and 44 who voted for Trump in 2020, but now thinks she’s more likely to vote for Harris. “That’s not resonating, that’s not fixing anything, that’s not discussing the issues. That’s just making it about yourself.” The candidates seem to understand what’s at stake: both Trump and Harris are scheduled to spend the last day before the election in Pittsburgh. Like voters across the country, the focus group participants were largely focused on the economy. Mike, an independent between the ages of 45 and 54 who voted for a third-party candidate in 2020, spoke for much of the group when he talked about the impact of inflation. “Today, I stopped at the grocery store. I needed two packs of batteries, some hotdog buns, and something else, and it was like $40 bucks,” Mike said. “We can’t sustain this level, especially when I haven’t seen a pay increase in four years.”  Inflation was the dominant theme of the conversation: participants mentioned rising costs more than 40 times in the two-hour session. “What matters to me is when I go to the grocery store, I can’t afford to buy groceries for my family,” said Rachel, a Democrat between the ages of 30 and 44 who voted for Biden in 2020. “I have to pull from my savings. You step into a grocery store now and your bill’s already at $70 no matter what you pick up. That’s what matters to me.” For all the concern about inflation, however, none of the voters thought much of Harris’s pledge to impose price controls on groceries and other goods. Even those currently leaning toward Harris said they were very concerned about excessive government spending and the growing national debt. These voters say they would like to see less American wealth going overseas, an issue Trump has been hammering. “We need to find a way to get rid of our debt and pay it down, such as calling in all the loans we’ve given to foreign nations recently,” Tiffany said. One thing that isn’t likely to solidify Tiffany’s vote for Harris: abortion. Though abortion is a top issue for pro-choice women like Tiffany, she said that she finds some of Harris’ abortion ads offensive. “I don’t like it being used as a scare tactic,” she said. “Some of these commercials are like, as a woman, I should want to vote for a pro-choice candidate because I could get raped and need an abortion. I find that a little inappropriate for campaigning.” Jamie, a Republican between the ages of 45 and 54 who voted for Trump in 2020 but is currently undecided, said she was also bothered by the Democrat’s focus on abortion. “We have one candidate who believes in restrictions, and we have one candidate that thinks abortion should be given to a woman up until the point of the baby being actually born,” Jamie said. “It is a big reason why I don’t like Kamala Harris.” If one thing was alienating voters from Trump, it was his personality. Asked to describe what animal comes to mind when they think of the former president, most offered unflattering comparisons. Rachel said “peacock,” because “everything he does is based on how it makes him look.” “He has to look good,” she said. “So whether he perpetuates lies, whether he has to make things up, as long as it makes him look good, then that’s what’s going to be said.”  Another said Trump brings to mind an ape because he’s strong but ham-fisted, while another described him as a bull in a china shop. A fourth said Trump was like “a pigeon because a lot of times he just s***s on everything.” Several participants worry that Trump’s style could hurt the United States on the world stage. When asked what advice they would give Trump to win their vote, several offered some variation of “show more humility.” But voters aren’t necessarily enamored with Harris, either. Multiple participants said the vice president reminds them of a “chameleon,” perhaps the worst label a political candidate can get. “Stop being so flip-floppy, so that people actually know where you stand on issues, and you can trust that you’re going to do what you say you’re going to do,” said Rachel, one of the voters leaning to Harris.

Biden Admin Authorizes Mass Overtime To Process Haitian Migrants Before Inauguration Day, Agent Says

The Biden-Harris administration has authorized massive overtime so Department of Homeland Security agents can grant temporary status to as many illegal immigrants as possible before a new president is inaugurated, a Homeland Security agent told The Daily Wire. “Jason” — an alias given to the agent, who spoke to The Daily Wire on the condition of anonymity, said supervisors have told workers in recent weeks that they should aim to clear the backlog of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) applications within 120 days. Doing so would allow these illegal immigrants to live and work in the country, and shield them from deportation for two years. The department is offering 30 hours of overtime per pay period to expedite processing of the immigrants, who come from countries including Haiti, Venezuela, and Lebanon. The Department of Homeland Security would not confirm or deny the allegation, or explain its motives. But the unprecedented number of TPS applicants — and the mandate to process them quickly — has put pressure on agents to approve applicants rather than investigate them further or deny them, Jason said. “It’s much easier to approve a case than to deny a case,” he told The Daily Wire. “Denying it comes with a lot of writing and approvals from supervisors.” The Biden administration insists that those approved for TPS status have been vetted. But Jason said vetting is really just box checking — literally. Jason said he wakes up in the morning, shuffles into his living room, and begins clicking buttons to approve the migrants each day, sometimes working late into the night to accrue overtime hours. “I just think the general public should know: I couldn’t tell you if the people we are approving are criminals or not, theres no way to know unless they admit to it,” he said. “The U.S. government isn’t calling up Haiti and saying is this person a criminal?” Illegal immigrants who have been granted TPS are largely vetted by government agents who work from home, never talk to the applicants, and often simply check to see whether the applicant admitted to committing crimes. There is no opportunity to ask applicants follow-up questions, evaluate their mannerisms for suspicious activity, or hear a story first-hand to assess for credibility. “I don’t see these people face-to-face, not once. It’s just, you put ‘no’ to everything — you didn’t say you murdered anyone in your home country — you were here on these dates? Okay, approved,” Jason said. According to DHS data covering the nine months between October 2023 and June 2024, 98% of processed applicants were approved, while only 2% were denied. Remaining pending were 344,000 cases, mostly from Venezuela. TPS applicants must fill out Form I-821, which asks them if they have ever been arrested, and to provide their own court records showing the offense if so. It also has them check “yes” or “no” to 41 questions such as if they have ever committed “Any particularly serious crime committed either in our outside the United States”’; if they have ever “participated in the persecution of any person on account of race”; and if they are “now engaged in activities that could be reasonable grounds for concluding that you are a danger to the security of the United States.” The form also asks if applicants are “now trafficking in any controlled substance,” whether they plan to “violate any law of the United States relating to espionage,” and if they have ever been involved in “killing any person.” “I’ve never denied someone because they put yes on a criminal question,” Jason said. “They don’t do that.” TPS status is restricted to migrants originally from one of 16 eligible countries, which the United States government have deemed unsafe for migrants to return to. Republicans say the list has outgrown its intended purpose. In June 2024, Rep. Thomas Tiffany (R-WI) said El Salvador, which was added to the TPS list in light of a 2001 earthquake, was still on the list. “The T in TPS stands for temporary,” said Tiffany, who moved unsuccessfully to rescind El Salvador’s TPS designation. “TPS was never intended to operate to provide rolling amnesty for hundreds of thousands of nationals.” Last month, DHS said it plans to add some 11,000 illegal immigrants from Lebanon — the country from which Hezbollah has launched attacks on Israel — to the list. Further complicating matters, many of the Haitians coming to the United States were already living safely in third countries, and are coming to the United States from places like Chile. Policies require them to attest that they have not been offered legal status in those countries. TPS eligibility also requires applicants to have arrived in the United States before a particular date and not left it since. But supervisors have told workers to sit on, rather than deny, the applications of people who came to the country too recently, in anticipation of the cutoff date being moved forward, Jason said — something that has repeatedly occurred. Before applying, applicants also must go to a local center to have their picture, fingerprints, and signature taken. Those — along with their names and any aliases they provide — are fed into an FBI criminal background check system when the application is later submitted. But the FBI background check only searches the United States, not the countries where the applicants spent most of their lives, Jason said. The cutoff date for Haitians seeking TPS is currently June 3, 2024, meaning a criminal background check in the United States could capture almost no time of actual residence. The notion that the dates will repeatedly be extended also serves as an incentive to illegally immigrate on the assumption that they may eventually become eligible for TPS. DHS spokeswoman Katherine Belcher told The Daily Wire that “Noncitizens who have been convicted of any felony or two or more misdemeanors committed in the United States are not eligible for TPS. Noncitizens who have participated in the persecution of another individual or engaged in or incited terrorist activity are not eligible for TPS.” She did not respond to questions about how the self-reported answers are verified, whether the criminal background check includes arrests in other countries, and what happens if a TPS applicant is denied due to finding that he is a criminal: whether he is located and removed from the country, or simply allowed to keep living here without temporary protective status. Jason said he has almost never seen a case where someone is denied based on the answers they provide. Instead, denials typically come when people don’t fill out the form completely, and don’t respond to a followup letter asking them to fill in the remaining questions, called “abandonment denials.” He said that President Joe Biden’s transformation of TPS has blurred the line between legal immigration, which most Americans support, and illegal immigration, which most oppose. “They come here illegally, that’s the point of TPS — it’s not really a status, it’s like a weird middle ground where they wont be kicked out and they can get a work authorization card,” he said. Jason said the DHS agents typically signed up for the job to enforce the law, and being enlisted to instead work from home shielding illegal immigrants from deportation has drained morale. He said it will be virtually impossible to locate and remove the sheer number of TPS grantees after their two-year term is up. “I think the American people have a right to know that we’re letting a bunch of people in without even having interviews with them,” Jason said. The Most Absurd DEI Moments Under Biden-Harris

There’s been a lot of very negative coverage of diversity, equity and inclusion lately. Some of you may know that, as I’ve mentioned once or twice, I recently put together a movie on the topic: “Am I Racist?” Streaming on Daily Wire right now. I’ve also done a lot of shows about DEI and for good reason. In fact, a DEI candidate is on the ballot for president of the United States. We are on the cusp of either doubling down on this disastrous ideology, or possibly eradicating it entirely. All that being said, I’d be lying if I said that, deep down, I don’t have a soft spot for certain DEI policies that the Biden-Harris administration has implemented. You see, as a certified DEI expert myself, I’m trained to recognize that not all DEI programs are equal. Some of them are just straight-up racist, sure. Virtually all of them are counterproductive. But I’m capable of identifying, based on my extensive training, some DEI policies that are really diamonds in the rough. Some of them transcend politics and stand as monuments to the unfettered ingenuity of the Biden-Harris administration. The more you think about these policies, the more you come around to the idea that maybe, just maybe, DEI is worth keeping around in some form — if only because, in many cases, these policies are hilarious. Or at least, mildly amusing. In that spirit — and because we could all use a breather going into what may be the most heated and contested presidential election since the Civil War — I’m going to rank my favorite DEI policies from the Biden-Harris administration. The group “Do No Harm” assembled a gigantic database of all the zillions of ways the administration has implemented DEI, and I’ve whittled that database down to my personal top 10 list. I’m posting that list on X, but for the purposes of this article I’ll whittle that list down even further. We’ll start with this one, which is probably the best. With very little fanfare, under the administration’s “equity” mandate, The TSA deployed new “advanced imaging technology” to, “reduce the instances of enhanced screening for trans persons.” According to the TSA, “this update eliminated the need for TSA officers to determine a passenger’s gender prior to Advanced Imaging screening.” This is a program that taxpayers spent millions of dollars to implement. But how does it work exactly? How, precisely, is imaging technology resulting in less false flags for self-identified “trans people”? Here’s one news report I found on this topic. We’ll see if they can shed some light on the situation: So before the DEI update over at TSA, the body scanner required that agents select a gender for the traveler. This is one of those things that I guess they didn’t want to elaborate on during a local news broadcast, but it’s pretty clear what’s going on here. If the machine detects that a woman has a strange object in a region of the body where a woman shouldn’t have any object at all, then the machine would sound an alarm, and the TSA agent would have to do a pat-down. But if the machine detects that object on a man’s body, it’s a little less suspicious. Anyone with a child’s understanding of biology can figure out that this makes a lot of sense. It’s not exactly a foolproof system, but it does make it a little harder for women to smuggle contraband through a body scanner. WATCH: The Matt Walsh Show But the TSA, under the Biden-Harris administration, has made the technology more “accurate,” supposedly. How did that do that? According to the TSA, last summer they introduced a “gender-neutral algorithm” to the body scanners. In other words, presumably they’ve stopped looking for mismatches between someone’s gender and any objects that may be attached to their bodies in strange places. As a result, they say that the number of “false positives” has gone down by 50%. The TSA brags about that statistic on their website quite a bit — even though it doesn’t really tell us anything at all. You can reduce the number of “false positives” by 100% if you just unplug the body scanner and stop using it entirely. The more useful statistic — if we’re being frank here — would be knowing whether anyone was able to sneak a weapon through the body scanner because the machine thought it was male genitalia instead of, say, a gun or a knife. But the TSA doesn’t have those statistics because, of course, there’s no way to track objects that they missed completely. We’ll just have to find out the hard way, I guess. Hopefully ISIS doesn’t employ any gender-neutral terrorists. That brings me to another monumental DEI achievement under the Biden-Harris administration. This one comes to us from the Department of Energy, which recently became notorious for employing its own gender-neutral menace. You might have heard that the Department of Energy’s esteemed nuclear waste disposal expert, Sam Brinton, turned out to be an expert in stealing women’s luggage from airport baggage claims. That whole episode led to a lot of bad press, which is too bad because it distracted everyone from the Department of Energy’s historic achievement in the field of DEI. Fortunately, as a certified DEI professional, I’m here to rectify that oversight. This is a very real paragraph from the “Equity Action Plan” at the Department of Energy. I hope you’re sitting down for this: In Fiscal Year 2023, DOE sponsored … the Lesbians Who Tech conference. … DOE also work[ed] in close partnership with its Energy PRIDE Employee Resource Group for Pride Month, including raising the Progress Pride Flag for the third year in a row with the Energy Secretary. I’ll read that last part again. The Department of Energy raised the Progress Pride Flag three years in a row, with the Energy Secretary in attendance. They didn’t just raise the flag for one year. They didn’t just raise the flag for two years. They did it three whole years. In a row. This is something that a bureaucrat — paid by your tax dollars — wrote down in a government document as a major achievement for equity. And then they published this document online, to brag to the whole world. Just to make sure I wasn’t missing anything, I pulled up a video of what this Progress Pride “flag raising” ceremony looked like. Here’s some of that riveting footage: It’s just monumental stuff. So first of all, the Department of Energy lady says that “PRIDE” stands for “promoting respect, inclusion, diversity and equity.” That’s the first time I’ve ever heard that, but she just says it as fact. So I looked it up. It turns out that this is a disputed acronym. Most people say that PRIDE is not an acronym at all. It just means “pride,” as in, one of the seven deadly sins. But for their part, the University of San Francisco’s LGBTQ center claims that PRIDE stands for “professionalism, respect, integrity, diversity, and excellence.” So there are some differences there. Three of the five words are different. And of course when you think of gay pride parades with men walking around in leather bondage gear in front of children, the first word that comes to mind to describe the scene is: professionalism. Also respect and integrity. There’s also the folks over at Robins Air Force Base, who have weighed in on this topic, albeit in a very different context. They say on their website that PRIDE really stands for “People, Readiness, Innovation, Drive, and Excellence.” So already, this is all very confusing. And then it gets more confusing when the Department of Energy lady says this: “Pride is for everyone, whether you are a member of the community or an ally.” In other words, Pride is for everyone, except all of the people who think Pride is dumb, evil, divisive, and a complete waste of taxpayer money. So Pride isn’t really for everyone at all, I guess. But she’ll say that anyway, because it sounds nice. Speaking of pride, NASA was particularly proud under the Biden-Harris administration to launch something called “Mission Equity.” No, “Mission Equity” doesn’t refer to a trip to Mars, or catching a rocket booster mid-air so that they can reuse it later. You’re thinking too small. After all, who needs reusable rocket boosters when you have NASA’s “LGBTQI+ Gender Equity Forum,” which connects nonbinary, trans and queer folx with government procurement experts? I mean, if you give any sane person the choice between those two achievements, they’re obviously going to go with the gender equity forum. But that’s not even my favorite part of what NASA accomplished in the DEI department over the last four years. They also put together what, in my humble opinion as a DEI expert, is maybe the single creepiest DEI town hall that’s ever been put together by a government agency. One after another, the entire agency — including the director — delivered some mindless lines about Joe Biden’s executive order on equity, and how important it is. And then they announced the launch of Mission Equity. Watch: This would be a creepy and depressing town hall if it was, say, the local teachers’ union doing it. But this is NASA we’re talking about here, which makes it even harder to watch. NASA used to do great things, like land a man on the moon. And they did all of those great things without DEI. And now they’re all pretending that DEI was somehow the key to their success all along. Meanwhile, as NASA holds meetings like this — where they all act like lobotomized DEI activists — SpaceX is actually accomplishing things. There are a bunch of other examples of this rot that Do No Harm has collected. The Forest Service spent $1 billion on “environmental justice,” which is a term that no one can define. The N.E.A. spent more than $6 million to make the art world more “equitable” because, as we all know, the art world is a haven for those dreaded MAGA Republicans. The Department of Commerce allocated $70 million exclusively for “women-owned small businesses,” which is why a lot of men now list their wives as the “owner” of their company. That’s a really big improvement, I guess. We’ve incentivized fraud at a massive scale. MATT WALSH’S ‘AM I RACIST?’ NOW STREAMING ON DAILYWIRE+ Meanwhile, over at the CIA, they took a break from overthrowing foreign governments so that they could sponsor robotics camps for “middle school students from underserved communities.” And the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, which regulates commercial vehicles, held the first-ever meeting of the “Women of Trucking Advisory Board.” That makes sense, because if there’s one thing we desperately need as a country, it’s more women spending weeks away from their families while they drive 30-ton trucks all over the country. Of course, cataloging all of the DEI programs that the Biden-Harris administration has implemented is nearly impossible. There’s just too many of them. But having looked at the database from “Do No Harm,” those are some of my favorites. They’re the DEI “achievements” that reveal how backwards and incompetent our government has become over the past four years. And if nothing else, they’re one last incentive to vote if you haven’t already. All of this is reversible. We just have to fire the people who implemented these policies on Tuesday. And then, after we’re done laughing at these imbeciles, we can tell the next crop of government employees to get back to work.

In Final Days, Trump Guns For Battleground States

Former President Donald Trump and his campaign are gearing up for a mad dash to the finish line. With less than four days left, Trump campaign announced an avalanche of events on Friday heading into election day. He’ll rally in Warren, Michigan and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Friday, in Gastonia, North Carolina, Salem, Virginia, and Greensboro, North Carolina on Saturday, and Lititz, Pennsylvania, Kinston, North Carolina, and Macon Georgia on Sunday. That’s all before Monday, the final day of his campaign, when he’s also completely packed: he’ll hold a rally in Raleigh, North Carolina at 10AM, Reading, Pennsylvania at 2pm, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at 6pm, and Grand Rapids, Michigan at 10:30pm. By the looks of it, he may be rallying until the early hours of the morning on Tuesday, November 5. Donald Trump rallies in Henderson, Nevada. (Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images) Meanwhile, Vice Presidential Nominee JD Vance is in Michigan, North Carolina, and Georgia on Friday, and Nevada and Arizona on Saturday. And a whole host of Trump surrogates are on the campaign trail until Tuesday: Robert F. Kennedy will be stumping for Trump in Wisconsin, Donald Trump Jr. will join Vance in Arizona, and the “Team Trump Women’s Tour” featuring top Republican surrogates will make a stop in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday night. Tulsi Gabbard, Danica Patrick, and Sage Steele will also be campaigning for Trump on Sunday in Wisconsin, and Kristi Noem will speak at a Trump event in Holland, Michigan on Sunday night. Kamala Harris has a slight lead on Trump in both Wisconsin in Michigan, while Trump has a slight advantage in Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, according to FiveThirtyEight polling issued Friday. The Trump campaign will kick off a four-day bus tour in Pennsylvania on Friday, beginning in Limerick, Pennsylvania and ending in Bensalem, Pennsylvania on Monday, November 4. It will make stops in Downington, Gap, Glenmoore, Broomall, Lansdale, Hazle Township, Lehighton, Bartonsville, Philadelphia, and Telford. The bus tour will feature Trump campaign surrogates Mississippi Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, Texas rep. Ronny Jackson, Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, Indiana Rep. Victoria Spartz, former acting United States attorney general Matt Whitaker, former Department of Defense chief of staff Kash Patel, former White House deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley, and others. Photo courtesy of Team Trump. “Team Trump is traveling across Pennsylvania to meet voters where they are -from diners to sporting complexes to construction sites,” Liz Huston, a spokeswoman for Team Trump, told The Daily Wire. “Pennsylvanians are swamping the vote for President Trump because in her four years as Vice President, Kamala Harris has failed them.” “On November 5,” Huston predicted, “Pennsylvania voters will flock to the polls to elect President Trump to secure the border, strengthen the economy and restore law and order.” “Harris has made inroads among independents,” the Marist Pennsylvania poll release stated. “She now leads Trump by 15 points among these voters and receives greater support among them than President Joe Biden had in 2020, according to the 2020 Presidential Exit Poll.” “While Trump edges Harris among white voters, he falls short of the support he received among these voters in 2020,” the release noted. “Harris outpaces Trump among Black voters but fails to reach the support Biden received four years ago. The gender gap has narrowed to 12 points in Pennsylvania.” Meanwhile, the Trump campaign announced that it had filed a Federal Election Commission (FEC) complaint against the Washington Post on Friday, accusing the publication of making “illegal corporate in-kind contributions to Harris for President.” The FEC complaint cites a Semafor report on how the Washington Post pays to boost stories “critical of Trump as subscribers flee,” a story that mentions how the Washington Post “aggressively ramped up its paid advertising campaign, boosting dozens of articles related to the election,” starting Monday, Oct. 28. The Post was boosting generally positive stories about Kamala Harris, the report says. “The facts support a reasonable inference that The Washington Post made, and Harris for President accepted, an illegal corporate contribution in the form of coordinated communications,” the complaint states. “Therefore, the Commission should find reason to believe a violation has occurred, conduct an immediate investigation, and assess an appropriate sanction for this corporate interference in our elections.”

What Would Harris and Trump Do Differently on Immigration?—The BorderLine

This is the last BorderLine column before the election. I am often asked what would change on border and immigration policy under a Kamala Harris or a Donald Trump administration. To give you an idea, I looked at what the candidates and parties actually said. The Republican Party platform of 2024, written after Trump was the party’s nominee and with his obvious input, stresses “the interests of American workers … over the claims of foreign nationals seeking the same jobs.” In its one-page Chapter 2 (of 10), the platform says the priority should be to “secure our borders and all ports of entry and to enforce our immigration laws.” For those who break those laws, it continues, “we oppose any form of amnesty.” Republicans believe the U.S. has been and remains “a haven of refuge” but want to limit asylum to “cases of political, ethnic, or religious persecution.” The platform warns that “refugees who cannot be carefully vetted cannot be admitted to the country.” In a second term, Trump likely would pursue the same strategy as in his first term, albeit with improved tactics, given some hard lessons learned in the first term. He speaks often at rallies and interviews of the consequences to American families and communities of mass illegal migration, including higher crime and overwhelmed public services. Regaining control of our border—of who comes in and how—and resuming law enforcement and deportations are his stated priorities. Trump is often criticized by Harris for opposing a supposedly bipartisan Senate border bill earlier this year. Most Republicans rejected the bill because it would have locked into law controversial Biden administration mass parole programs then  allow up to 1.8 million inadmissible aliens to be released into the country each year while they await their immigration hearings, which could be years down the road. (A tougher Secure the Border Act of 2023 passed the House in May 2023 but was not taken up by the Senate.) Here is Trump’s probable agenda for border action, in three key points: Reinstate the Migrant Protection Protocols (also known as “Remain in Mexico”) and Safe Third Country agreements. These protocols require emmigrants who are seeking asylum to apply in the first safe country they reach after leaving their home country—not continue on to their preferred country, the U.S. He would also stop mass-releasing aliens caught entering the U.S. illegally at the border. Resume and ramp up enforcement of immigration laws in the interior of the country. Trump has spoken of the “largest deportation program in American history.” Indeed, given the scale of illegal entry over the past four years, a return to prioritizing using agents for law enforcement over paroling and processing aliens into the country would require significant effort. Prioritize “merit-based immigration,” meaning that the U.S. should select legal immigrants based on factors like youth, job skills, and education and what they can contribute to the United States rather than merely family relationships. The Democratic Party platform states, “We must secure our border and fix a broken immigration system,” but credits President Joe Biden’s executive actions that “created innovative legal pathways that … have decreased illegal border crossings.” This is a reference, among other things, to Biden’s parole programs that allow specific countries and classes of aliens to arrive illegally at U.S. borders and airports, where they are then paroled in by Customs and Border Protection. The party platform states Democrats want to “reform the asylum system” by making the process quicker, adding a “strengthened initial screening” and supplying lawyers (presumably at taxpayer expense) to illegal aliens fighting removal. It also proposes to “expand legal immigration” and supports a “pathway [to legalization] for long-term undocumented individuals.” As for Harris, she has slowly clarified her stance on the border during her campaign. It is difficult to distinguish her positions materially from the Biden administration policies of the past four years. Harris touches briefly on borders and immigration on her website. She proposes reforming the “broken immigration system.” To do this, Harris has said she’d pass the Senate “border security bill Donald Trump killed” if she were president (see above). That bill is highly unlikely to be revived in future absent a Democratic majority in the Senate. The Harris website advocates “an earned pathway to citizenship.” On Oct. 29, speaking at a Washington, D.C., campaign rally, Harris confirmed that “comprehensive immigration reform” includes a “path for people to gain citizenship because they have earned it.” This means she supports legalizing some, or all, of the aliens here illegally—in other words, an amnesty for those who enter the United States illegally and continue to stay here unlawfully. In the Washington speech, Harris said, “When I am president, we will … give Border Patrol the support that they so desperately need.” She wants “more resources at the border,” by which, she was referring to “detection technology to intercept” the flow of fentanyl and “1,500 border security agents,” both of which were proposed in the Senate bill. The wording on her website does not specify that the 1,500 new hires would be Border Patrol agents. Based on what we’ve seen in the past four years, any additional staff authorized for the border would chiefly be used to process aliens into the United States quicker. The next day, at an informal press gaggle before boarding her plane, Harris was asked about her commitment in the Washington speech to “quickly remove those who arrive here unlawfully.” She avoided a direct answer, instead pivoting back to sending more agents to the border and signing the defunct Senate bill. Notably, when a senator, Harris generally opposed border and interior enforcement and advocated that we “critically reexamine” Immigration and Customs Enforcement and “think about starting from scratch.” When running for president in 2019, she proposed “a moratorium on the construction and expansion of immigration detention centers” and “a top-to-bottom review of ICE and implement[ing] structural reforms of the agency.” Unless her views have changed radically since, Harris is unlikely to increase the agency’s mandate or resources for interior enforcement of immigration laws. Here is Harris’ probable agenda for border action, in three key points: At the border—Current “lawful pathways,” including mass parole and mass release into the country would remain the policy at and between ports of entry, presenting marginal impediments to illegal entry. Alternate methods like the Welcome Corps of bringing in additional migrants—whether they qualify as refugees or not—would likely be ramped up. Limited interior enforcement—Once aliens enter and claim asylum, Harris (and current administration talking points) both say that “those who are determined not to have a legal basis to remain should be quickly removed.” But evidence from the past four years suggests that few aliens, once allowed to enter, would be deported. Amnesty—Passing a law to legalize some or all illegal aliens is her clear policy goal. If that is not possible, a Harris administration would fall back on deferred or non-prosecution. Either way, most foreign nationals living here illegally would be permitted to remain. An amnesty bill could contain some procedural requirements, such as proving payment of taxes or proving no criminal record, but a lack of these would not mean automatic deportation. These are my educated guesses as to what border and immigration policy would look like under either a Trump or Harris administration, but nothing is certain. Whatever happens  on Election Day, the BorderLine will continue to advocate for an immigration policy that serves U.S. national interests while respecting both our national sovereignty and rule of law. The World Was Safer Under Donald J. Trump

Is Earth more peaceful now than it was four years ago? No. President Donald J. Trump left the world relatively tranquil. Nearly four years of Kamala Harris’s and Joe Biden’s strategic ham-handedness have made war the new normal. Consider this metric: The Jewish Virtual Library chronicles rocket and mortar attacks against Israel. During the first 45 months of Trump’s tenure—from Jan. 20, 2017 through Oct. 25, 2020—Israel’s enemies fired 1,171 rockets and mortars at America’s closest Middle Eastern ally. Across Kamala-Biden’s equivalent timespan, Israel’s foes shot 24,560 rockets and mortars at the Jewish state—up 1,997%.  Between Jan. 1 and Oct. 25, 2020—during Trump’s fourth year in office—such onslaughts totaled 128. Under Kamala-Biden: 11,441—up 8,883%. Scholars, statesmen, and soldiers are appalled. “The rise in rocket attacks on Israel in recent years, especially over the past 12-plus months, shows how Iran and its proxies like Hezbollah and Hamas become more emboldened as they see more strategic daylight between the United States and Israel,” said Michael Makovsky, president and CEO of the Jewish Institute for National Security of America. ”Confronting Tehran’s axis with the combined might and will of America and Israel is the best guarantor for Middle East stability.” “From their first days in office, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden did everything they could to throw Iran’s terrorist leaders a lifeline after President Trump had them in a box, broke, and begging for mercy,” John Ullyot, Trump’s National Security Council spokesman, told me.  The author of “The Biden-Harris Betrayal: Weak and Woke on the World Stage” added: “They Venmo’d Iran’s leaders tens of billions of dollars by breaking Trump’s vise-grip of sanctions, and the Mullahs wasted not a second in passing this windfall on to their puppets—Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. Make no mistake: The shocking, nearly 2,000% increase in rocket and missile attacks on Israel by Iran’s proxies over the last four years is a direct and predictable result of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden pulling a 180 on Trump’s tough policies on Tehran. Nov. 5 cannot come soon enough.” Trump signs the first two of four Abraham Accords peace agreement with the leaders of Bahrain, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates at the White House, Sept. 15, 2020. (Official photo by Tia Dufour) “With President Trump, we had maximum pressure and the Abraham Accords. And now, with Harris and Biden, we have maximum chaos,” Brigadier General Anthony Tata, U.S. Army (Retired) told “Fox & Friends” on Oct. 26. Indeed, Trump brokered four peace agreements between Israel and Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Sudan, and Morocco. Tata added: “The whole region is on fire right now, because of the Harris-Biden incompetence.” Thursday’s truly chilling bad news confirmed that the world was safer four years ago. Trump nicknamed North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un as Little Rocket Man, amusing millions and annoying hundreds within America’s stone-faced foreign-policy establishment.  Trump and Kim shared a June 2018 summit in Singapore and, eight months later, a second huddle—in Hanoi. In June 2019, Trump journeyed to the Demilitarized Zone. Walking mere feet into the Hermit Kingdom, Trump ventured historical miles when he shook Kim’s hand on his own soil. Trump became the first sitting U.S. president to enter North Korea. Trump meets chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea Kim Jong Un at the Korean Demilitarized Zone, June 30, 2019. (Official White House Photo by Shealah Craighead) While Trump did not denuclearize the Korean Peninsula, he kept Kim calm. The underground atomic-bomb tests that Kim repeatedly triggered during Obama-Biden stopped after he met Trump. So did Kim’s long-range test missiles, which had boosted their potential reach, ever-closer to America’s shores. While Trump was in command, Little Rocket Man kept his cool. Similarly, Obama-Biden watched Russian thug Vladimir Putin invade and then annex Ukraine’s Crimea region. But Putin controlled himself during Trump’s tenure. Though still an outlaw, Putin kept his tanks to himself. In frightful contrast, Kamala and Joe’s lassitude proved provocative. After witnessing America’s shambolic August 2021 abandonment of Afghanistan to the Taliban, Putin invaded Ukraine in February 2022. Two years and eight months later, the carnage grinds on. Despite $106 billion in U.S. military assistance to Kiev, this conflict seems light years from conclusion. Even worse, some 8,000 North Korean troops are in Russia’s Kursk region and could start fighting Ukrainian forces “in the coming days,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned on Halloween. With an Asian nuclear power about to embroil itself in this European conflict, it’s beginning to look a lot like World War III. Also worrisome: Little Rocket Man on Thursday conducted his most ominous missile trial yet. This ICBM flew for 86 minutes and climbed 4,350 miles—new milestones for Pyongyang. By comparison, the International Space Station orbits at 250 miles. The Washington Post’s Michael Birnbaum and Michelle Yee Hee Lee called these twin North Korean developments “a double display of bellicosity.” From Israel to Ukraine to North Korea, the rockets’ red glare and bombs bursting in air give proof that Earth was safer four years ago. Through Tuesday, voters have a clear choice: four more years of Kamala’s chaos or four more years of Donald J. Trump’s Peace through Strength, no new wars, and treaties piling up like autumn leaves.  The post The World Was Safer Under Donald J. Trump appeared first on The Daily Signal.
